Hi,
I'm interested in buying the G6, or even the Q6, but I didn't get the chance to try it and see if the screen real estate is properly used on some apps.
I saw various videos about the scaling, but all were either for games, or video.
My question is how do the "standard" apps behave, like:
- Firefox: does it use the wole screen width in landscape (with the navbar of course)
- Xodo PDF reader, CHM Reader X, Graphilos EPUB Reader - when the full screen option is activated and it's in landscape, does it use the full width?
Maybe some screenshots.
Thanks.
Apps generally use all the screen, those who leave black borders can be resized

But does the resizing only changes the layout, without cropping / hiding any UI elements?
Sometimes (ex. Clash Royale) it crops some elements

Yes, but that's a game; I was asking for non-games & videos, that are different by nature.
But the scaling works just on games, scaling work on very few apps, and it doesn't affrct layout

Here's a screenshot of Firefox.
I've hidden my navbar in favor of "swipe navigation" and statusbar is hidden by immersive mode.
As you can see it's using full width.
There's even a setting to force "long display" mode.
I've not seen any apps that **** up in any way.

Just interested to know who out here (post-root) has experimented with this app or the similar ones?
Z1c is almost the perfect phone for me other than the one problem android has done little to rectify on any device with soft keys - poor implementation of their immersive mode in chrome, games, other apps etc.
Thoughts?

I used GravityBox for PIE Controls and then I hid the soft keys with XBlast Tools > Navigation Bar > Master Switch ON & Button Height 0dp.
Or you can enable Expanded Desktop in GravityBox and turn it on from the power menu.
I'm using this for quite some time, it's perfect for me and it's also free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.udn.lite
i used the UDN light app to hide the Nav Bar.

under "nav bar spoofers" is an option to hide the nav bar with a build. prop mod. no xposed needed.
this app replace the stock nav bar with a swippable version
but personal i also like the Pie app more.

You can change the status bar and add the percentage. You can also use Xposed modules to get that. Or you can even downgrade the phone to get the percentage icon. Anything that pleases you.

Use the xposed module "GravityBox", it also has other great features.

Thank you
Hi guys, do you know how to have 5 rows on the dock instead of five?
Seems like you need a certain dpi to get that.
Any trick?

Dropping the Display Size setting to Small does it for me.
You need to change the display size.
Settings, Accessibility, Display size
Then drag to slider to small
It seems videos are not being played full screen on apps such as Netflix and VLC. The screen doesn't stretch past the status bar. Which is a waste of screen real estate.
It seems only YouTube can play videos full screen.

Anyone knows if there is a fix for this?

I don't think that ever worked. YouTube is the only app I could stretch fullscreen with my Pixel 3 XL too. I think it's up to the app creators to enable this.
Follow this:
- open up settings
- choose display
- full screen apps
- scroll to the youtube app and touch the youtube app and change it from auto to full
- play video and pinch to zoom
Please hit the thumbs up bottom if this works ??.
Yeah I fixed it by going to Settings -> Display -> Fullscreen Apps -> change Netflix from Auto to Full
Thanks for this. This was driving my crazy (Plex) and I'm used to seeing it full screen on my XS Max.
