Is there any cases like the peel for the OnePlus 5 - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I think the title says it all, if you don't know what the peel is it's just a really thin case.

Aren't those Dbrand skins thin?
I'm interested in something thin too. Don't like cases in general (because they are bulky), but this phone is so damn slippery.

Agreed on the phone being too slippery. It feels super nice in the hand though so a super slim case would be nice!

I'm in the same boat as you I don't like cases either, but recently I've tried some of these new thin cases and they're great.

Either way, I think dBrand is what you're looking for. I checked out their website and you can customize the way you want the skin to look (to a certain extent).

I did not put phone in case because it si slippery, but to protect camera. I got Nillkin super frosted shield, it is not too bulky, and protect phone well, I hope.

Ultra thin 0.3mm cases, any experiences?

I'm looking for something that feels nicer than the greasy chrome sides and textured pokey back that is thin and is mainly there to make the phone feel nice in the hand, not for protection. Anyone have experiences with these 0.3 mm covers? I don't really know what type of material it is, how it feels like, how rigid or soft/flexible it is, whether there's a lip or not, etc. There are a lot of ultra thin covers on ebay but I dunno if they are all the same or not. Was also wondering if anyone has a clear one, if it just looks like a condom or not. I have a brushed metal back cover that I want to show through okay, otherwise if it looks like a condom I'll just get a blue one altogether.

I'm using the black one (and used it on my previously owned Galaxy SII i9100): it protects very well against scratches and my Note looks sexy as hell in all black fashion :good: (and yeah, chrome bezels have bored me too )
Go for it mate!
love it..using it.
yeah those are awesome. Ordered one via ebay and use everyday! Half year ago, a reddish one not dirty ugly yet. Dont expect protection other then scratches though.

Yeah sorry I've been posting in the accessories forum but for some reason this thread wound out here: I want to know if it is hard case hard or is it semi soft and semi flexible like TPU cases. Also does it get hot? I know TPU cases are good with not heating up. My note is a hot potato in the back (and the front) and I don't like holding a hot potato. I am missing the soft polycarbonate feel of my one xl, and it never heated up during use, nice and cool.
lol I feel more space between hardcase and softcase. Hardcase seems cooler.
I threw my hardcase away because the softcase is nice and snug. Extra thin, flexible, more grip, but thats personal. Perfect!
Heat, with proper kernel/rom/usage its not an issue for me

Those thin cases do not stop any heat. Less material to absorb heat. Tpu and silicone are best for heat absorption. I would suggest using setcpu to stop the heating. You can set profiles to slow the cpu when the battery gets above a certain level. Heat is very bad for lithium batteries. Best to stop it now before you have terrible battery life.
I use one of these.
Pros - Protects back/bezel from scratches, doesn't make the phone too big in the hand, nice cut outs for the buttons, spen etc.
Cons - No or very little drop protection, edges of screen are not covered.
I also have one of the thicker TPU ones that covers over the edge of the screen and offers pretty good drop protection, but it make the phone a little too big making it tricky for one handed operation.

[Q] Anyone have the official Asus Travel Cover?

The material is made of TPU. Last time I used a TPU case it felt like silicone but with more rigidity. Is the official Asus Travel Cover the same? What does the material feel like? Is it soft like rubber or cold and rigid like hard plastic? Does it feel like it's as cushiony as silicone?

It's not cold, and not as soft as silicone (I have on my phone, i.e.). I really like it, it is nice to the touch and doesn't slip when you hold it (but silicone holds better).

But it has no magnets to be fixed when it is closed, right?
And if you open it, can you open it so wide that it can touch the back? Thanks

It has a pretty rubbery feel and yes, it can be folded all the way to the back . I got the baby blue color but am now having post purchase regret.. Should have gone for the bright orange which will look so nice contrasting with the black tablet! Haha
Thanks for the responses guys.
How flexible is it compared to silicone? Does it have a shiny finish or did they rough it up so it has a matte finish inside and out? I'm trying to determine what it would feel like in the hand as TPU alone doesn't really tell me what the finish is. I've seen TPU cases that look glossy and some that look matte. Does it kind of feel matte and smooth like a mouse ball? I know it's probably not going to feel as smooth as silicone but it't not going to grip as much either which I kind of like it having less grip. I might have to get this case.
What about the thickness? How thick is it? 2mm? Like if you look through the speaker cutout you can see how thick it is right?
But it has no magnets to be fixed when it is closed, right?

Nope. This much I do know, it has no magnets which from what I'm reading is kind of a bummer to everyone because:
A) It can keep the cover closed when you put it in a bag or something.
B) It can utilize the magnetometer to do cool things like put it to sleep and turn it on depending on the cover like a smart cover.

I'm torn between the whitish color and the dark gray. Probably end up going with the whitish but the gray just looks more professional. I pretty much only want the official case because it has the Nexus 7 branding and dimples all over it.
EDIT: Oh and I heard people complain about the power and volume buttons. They said they couldn't feel them. I feel them less with a silicone case on, but I still feel them. Is it true that you can't feel how much pressure you're putting on them? I don't want to be overpressing the buttons. Since it's a more rigid material I would say there seems like some truth to this?
It has a matte finish. Dull. At least the gray one does. It's the thinnest case for the N7 I believe. A little thicker than a tpu phone case. Very soft feel to it a little grippier than the stock back but not sticky at all.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Lol why would you like the dimples on this case? I like the Nexus branding on the back of this case but certainly not the tiny holes spreaded throughout the case.
And yes I couldn't really feel the physical buttons when pressing. I mean I could feel them but pressing them a little bit seems to activate the buttons already.
I think the dark gray case looks nice too but a vibrant color like bright orange won't hurt too. Haha

cases! which to buy

I currently have the spigen neo hybrid metal case for my note 4.
question is should I get a otterbox? if so what version do you guys suggest?
thanks!
???
Depends on what you like & require from a case really. I have an otterbox defender(well, an imitation one anyway but it's basically the same thing) and it's really great for protecting the phone, but it adds a lot of bulk. I don't mind, but some people do.
Hi. I have 2 Otterbox cases, the Commuter and the Symmetry. Both are well made, protective and both work with a glass screen protector.
The Symmetry feels smaller in the hand and the Commuter is a VERY easy case to live with if you change batteries etc much as it is so easy to put on and take off with the 2 piece design. Either will serve you well.
UAG case! It really protects ur phone.
Gotta love it tough.

Going Bareback

All right, for those of you who have had this phone for a while I'd like to hear what the durability factor is. I always prefer to go bareback, but had a really bad experience with my G6. I'm thinking about taking off my protection, but would like to see how it's gone for everyone else with the S8+ re: durability of the body, screen and back.
Thanks!

Oh boy... Anyhow, I don't use a case at all. I like how sleek the phone feels in my hands, and how beautiful it is. I don't know if that's the most smart, but it's what I do.
Been using it bareback since I bought it a month ago and just dropped it for the first time from a couch height and it broke on the corner so definitely recommend a thin case or bumper at least edge screen protectors suck and eventually peel off but probably worth it
s8/s8+ is glass sandwich phone. minimum metal frame. dropping it on hard surface gonna break the glass. its as simple as that. i agree this phone looks and feels amazing without case.

Most Phones will brake. Most doesnt have a very small rubber/plastic Puffer anymore between the Metalframe and the Display-Glas.
Imho the S8 Breaks like the others, well here on two sides..and not just one.

I have a skin and a screen protector on mine. So feels bareback (no bulk) but it has some protection. The skin has a few marks etc on it, but not enough for me to change it yet
Good day.
Probably almost all phone in the market break after a fall. As for the scratch i use an Back PET Protector and camera lens protector like this.

Ringke Slim Fit case - Now with pics

Pics now attached!
I have always preferred minimalist cases, especially on a phone this gorgeous. I've always had great luck with the Ringke and Nillkin slim/thin fit cases but, this time around, when I went to pre-order my phone, the only slim cases available were manufactured by Spigen and Elago. Now, I LOVE Elgo cases because they're almost like not having a case at all, just like a skin. They offer no real drop protection, but are primarily designed for scratch protection. Absolutely no lip on the front to protect the display. Still, they fit the bill for me and are my case of choice when at home or the office. Places where I NEVER drop my phone and, if I do, it's on very soft carpet.
Anyway, I went ahead and ordered the Spigen slim case. While it DID look awesome and provided some added protection in the form of a slight lip at the top and bottom of the display, ultimately the case failed me. My phone is perfectly unscathed. However, the Spigen design results in a ton of flex and bend when removing the case. Eventually, this lead to the case cracking along the backside. Not acceptable.
Today I received my Ringke slim case (now available on Amazon) and I must say I'm VERY happy with it. The fit is perfect, almost no bend or flex when taking the case off or putting it on, and the lip of protection for the display along the top and bottom edge is even more pronounced than the lip on the Spigen model.
5/5 stars from me. An awesome, lightweight, nearly zero bulk case that offers excellent drop and scratch protection. If this is what you're looking for, look no further than Ringke's offering. Go get it!

Absolutely, it will. I used it together with the Whitestone on my S8+ and Note8.
I won't use Whitestone anymore though. Way overpriced and far too fragile. They also tend to lift up over time, even with a perfect installation and no drops or knocks. There are smarter options available, if you're patient.

Pics now attached. You can see my fingers on the other side of the phone with it face down on the table, demonstrating the lift the lip provides. The display is well-protected. This is surely the slimmest case you can get for the S9+ that still offers drop protection and guards against screen damage in the event of a fall.
You can also see that the camera is well protected. I was even able to fit a large metal plate behind the case to allow it to attach to my car mount, and I've positioned it in such a place as to avoid any interference with wireless charging. Everything works properly.
I got this case and love it as well! Even thinking about getting some of the other colors available, for days when you need a little extra protection their onyx case is not bad either, still thin but not as slim

Sure, the case isn't for everyone. Some people (perhaps you?) prefer a huge bulky case with all kinds of patterns colors and textures that detract from the clean lines and curves of the devices. But this is a plain black case, with almost nothing to it. What about it is "ugly," in your opinion?
Also, I don't even know what this means: "those buttons [sic] cutouts must not be on the case." The cutouts must not be on the case? What?! Can you help us understand what the heck you're saying?

UAG cases don't compliment the design of the S9/S9+ at all. They're functional, and offer great protection, but they're bulky and rugged-looking. The S9 is not bulky or rugged-looking. That's not its design.
Surprise! Button cutouts allow for direct access to the buttons. Keeping the feel and function of those buttons STOCK.
