Currently not storing any backup? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hey,
In the settings, backup and reset, suddenly the feature to automatically backup is greyed out. I encountered this after I factory resetted and came back to an 11 day old backup. Logged in with Google account, check boxes are ticked, the feature to choose an account to backup though, is greyed out?
Factory reset didn't help, everything sync wise is on.
I'm on stock OOS 4.5.5, elementalX 1.04, Magisk root.
Should I flash something like Gapps file? I used this on a Galaxy S3 with AOSP ages ago.. But idk if it's safe to do in this situation.. Because factory reset isn't working the bug is within the stock Gapps I think.
Thanks!

Me to google cloud is not backup my devices op5
When i factory reset i not see blackup device on choice i see only old device(samsung device)
Somebody know how to blackup device to google cloud!

Had the same issue, strange to say but after installed Google drive on the pc, connected the op5 and choose to backup it as suggest from Google drive on pc made the trick. Now I can see my phone backup and the phone update it regularly. Hope this could help. In any case weird, I never had this issue with any of my previous android phones.

Think it worked... but have one question regarding missing contacts

After 2 days and near-unbearable annoyance, I was able to root the phone just using Visionary, Root.sh, and the cyanogen update guide (for Rooting phone)---and without a USB cable -- only using ADBwireless, once I had temp root.
One issue though.... Since I did a hard reset perhaps 10 times, following each hard reset I had to login to gmail as if I was setting up my phone. One option this process asks you is to allow google to backup your data. I always left it checked.... and didn't think much of it.
However, now that I am rooted again.... and just flashed CM 7.1 (RC1), I notice that I have about 7 out of 80 or so contacts....
The only thing I can imagine that happened is that everytime I reset the phone and signed in with my gmail address, it backed up the contacts on the phone, and for whatever reason, only those 7 made it to backup.
What is confusing though is that I had wiped the data cache several times in the past, and every time I re-signed into gmail to start setup on the phone, all my contacts were intact.
Also, the nandroid backups I thought I had.... CWR -- once it boots into recovery says there are "missing files" where my backups once were. I don't mind this so much as I am running CM7.1 and can download all my apps, etc.... But I thought those backups might contain my contacts...
Anyone have an idea where I might be able to restore those contacts... My sd card is the same one as I had before this whole mess started.... I would think titanium backup or something would have these contacts.. I can't really even think about losing 60+ contacts.
Nevermind. Its all good.

[Q] Restoring apps/data with google

Hello,
I just flashed the factory image of KitKat for my N4. Normally when I flash any kind of rom, once installed the phone kicks in and my apps begin to download thanks to google sync.
Unfortunately this time around it did not happen. Nothing downloaded apart from the pre-installed apps updated that come with the factory image.
Not sure why the apps never restored, does anyone know a way of forcing KitKat to download these apps?
I know I would be better off using Titanium Backup or something but I have always found the google sync method pretty reliable.

Backup account

Guys I am running stock 1.80.651.10 ROM on Sprint with the latest September security update. I did a factory reset and I manually updated the ROM to the latest version (I did the latter as instructed by HTC support). Under Settings, Backup & reset, the Backup account is still grey and shows "No account is currently storing backed up data". As a result, when I did a factory reset, Google didn't even give me the option to restore my account from a previous HTC 10 device backup. I have to setup everything from scratch again. I contacted HTC support and the rep told me this:
"The back up option is under maintenance at the moment. This is why you can't access to it. If you performed all those troubleshooting steps and they didn't work. What I recommend is that you try another backup options while we solve this problems for our customers."
This is obviously a software / firmware bug. Anyone else seeing this?
Same exact problem with mine and my wifes new HTC 10's.
It's a known bug. OMJ came up with a solution. Check his badboyz thread

Missing/Backup Account Greyed out on stock TW

I recently went back to stock TW (QB2) for the camera while I was on vacation last week. Since then, I no longer see my Google account listed under Backup Account under the Backup and Reset settings. This section is actually greyed out with the message "No account is storing backup data currently". I have tried signing in and out of my Google account, clearing data/cache for several Google apps, toggling the the backup settings on and off and still no luck. I even performed a factory reset, twice. During the setup process, I also noticed that I'm no longer being prompted to restore apps.
I have another S5 with a cracked screen, and that is running Lineage 14.1. That phone shows my Google account under Backup Account, and when checking the "Backups" setting in Drive, I can see it was last backed up today around 1:30. In Drive on my TW phone, I have a message saying "Your device is not backed up", along with a link to the Backup Settings where I'm still unable to add a backup account.
Can someone who might be on a recent version of TW check and see if their device lists their Google account under the Backup and Reset settings?

nexus 5x nougat backup not restoring

Here is the link to google's nexus 5x forum concerning this issue that I just posted.
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/ekWQc6FVWao;context-place=forum/nexus
I have went through pain since the Oreo update and this may be related as I finally figured out a way around it.
I decided to revert back to Nougat from Oreo on my Nexus 5x.
I signed in and attempted to use the restore from the cloud backup. It didn't work. I saw the same message in my drive as well "disabled by admin". Well the admin is google since this is my personal drive.
So I tried with lineage 14.1 same issue. Reset phone 8 different times and tried the Los workarounds. Nothing worked.
I just said what the hell and installed 7.1.2 stock, then upgraded to oreo and then factory reset.
Did the initial setup and the restore from cloud option was there and it allowed me to restore from the drive backup.
So Google did something to only allow oreo to restore from the drive backup.
I am now fixing to root and use "my backup pro" to backup everything and reflash back to nougat.
I hope this helps anyone who is having this issue.
