I recently went back to stock TW (QB2) for the camera while I was on vacation last week. Since then, I no longer see my Google account listed under Backup Account under the Backup and Reset settings. This section is actually greyed out with the message "No account is storing backup data currently". I have tried signing in and out of my Google account, clearing data/cache for several Google apps, toggling the the backup settings on and off and still no luck. I even performed a factory reset, twice. During the setup process, I also noticed that I'm no longer being prompted to restore apps.
I have another S5 with a cracked screen, and that is running Lineage 14.1. That phone shows my Google account under Backup Account, and when checking the "Backups" setting in Drive, I can see it was last backed up today around 1:30. In Drive on my TW phone, I have a message saying "Your device is not backed up", along with a link to the Backup Settings where I'm still unable to add a backup account.
Can someone who might be on a recent version of TW check and see if their device lists their Google account under the Backup and Reset settings?

Hello,
I recently had to send my Nexus One away for repair where it was replaced by Google/HTC.
When using the new handset, I cannot seem to perform a wipe/restore without my old settings being recovered. The "Backup my settings" box is unticked, however every time a restore is performed, an old backup of my old handset is restored.
I have tried changing the wallpaper and uninstalling any apps then ticking the "Backup my settings" but this does not seem to be picked up by the Google backup servers as a restore will once again restore all my previous old settings, apps and wallpaper.
It seems that the Google servers will not allow any changes to the backup previously made with my old handset and I do not see anywhere in my Google Account to remove this data.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

So it seems the FroYo update has resolved my problem for me! Strange bug, glad it's gone!

Hi guys, so this happened after changing the SIM card, I'm using the international N9005 variant, unlocked, running stock 5.0
About a third of my apps disappeared from both the home screen and the app drawer, including my google account in the accounts tab in the settings. Also, I keep getting the "Unfortunately, X has stopped" for a bunch of apps(Google Play Newsstand, android.process.media, S Planner, Internet, Contacts Storage, Settings). The missing apps show in the application manager with the android logo icons and take up 0.00B, they were all installed on the phones internal memory.
I did a reboot, wiped cache partition and it didn't help. I'd do a factory reset, but i can't remember the last time I've synced my data.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
Mate, what did occurred first?
You Factory Reset your phone and the Apps were gone?
Because that's how it works.
Also, did you tried to put back the old Sim just to check?
but then again, you Factory Reset your phone already. So, the probability to have the App's back is gone.
I installed the February Security Patch on my Nexus 6P, I then proceeded to perform a factory reset on my phone.
Before I did that though, I turned off the "Back up my data" option on my phone. Doing so turns it off and deletes any backed up data I may have. The problem is, while going through the device setup, I was presented with an option to restore from a backup (let's call this Backup 1). Something that has never happened to me since I've always done the same steps as before. I then opted to set up my phone as a new device. Since I was bothered by that "backup", I checked Google Drive if there were any backups. There were none. What I did then was did another factory reset on the phone (still turning off the "Back up my data" option). Still the same issue during setup.
I then tried to test something. I opted to set my phone again as a new device, installed a couple of apps then performed a factory reset. This time though, I kept the back up option on assuming it would back the current state of the device (let's call this Backup 2). During setup, I was surprised though that the restore option is still for Backup 1.
So, got a little lost by your phrasing > but it seems to me, that when you INITIALLY setup your phone, you had the 'keep app data / settings/ etc' backup as a checked option, and this is what you keep seeing up a new setup?
Yes. I've always had the automatically backup settings checked during setup. And I've always done factory resets before wherein I uncheck backups first. Doing that deletes the backup on the cloud and during setup I won't be asked if I want to restore.
However, after the Security Patch, even unchecking that before a factory reset would still have me presented with a "restore" option during setup.
I'm having an issue with my daughters XT1609 that she's been using as a Wifi only device with her Google account. I cannot get it to back itself up to Google drive so that when I replace it with a XT1607 and get to the setup part to transfer to a nearby device that it'll reinstall everything.
When I go to the backups section of her Google drive there isn't anything in there. I did this exact same proceedure to my sons phone, exact same models, and it worked perfectly and he does have a backup on google drive.
I have Settings>Backup and Reset>Back up my data turned on and the right backup account selected. Auto restore on
I also have Settings>Accounts>Google>her account and all items syncing (manually synced numerous times)
I've reset the new device, numerous times, trying to get to "Set up nearby device" again but I never even get to the part that shows me how many apps will be installed. It just zips right through and says it was successful. Both phones are on identical software versions and like I said, this worked perfectly for my son but his G-drive shows a recent backup.
Is there anyway to force a back-up or fix why this won't actually back up?
It also happens to me
Hey,
In the settings, backup and reset, suddenly the feature to automatically backup is greyed out. I encountered this after I factory resetted and came back to an 11 day old backup. Logged in with Google account, check boxes are ticked, the feature to choose an account to backup though, is greyed out?
Factory reset didn't help, everything sync wise is on.
I'm on stock OOS 4.5.5, elementalX 1.04, Magisk root.
Should I flash something like Gapps file? I used this on a Galaxy S3 with AOSP ages ago.. But idk if it's safe to do in this situation.. Because factory reset isn't working the bug is within the stock Gapps I think.
Thanks!

Had the same issue, strange to say but after installed Google drive on the pc, connected the op5 and choose to backup it as suggest from Google drive on pc made the trick. Now I can see my phone backup and the phone update it regularly. Hope this could help. In any case weird, I never had this issue with any of my previous android phones.
