Wondering if anyone else has encountered this incredibly annoying issue. Using a T-Mobile S8 and ever since the last update I've been getting prompts to log in to my Samsung account. The window will always interrupt whatever you're doing when it decides to pop up, and is always waiting when you unlock the phone in the morning. I don't have a Samsung account, nor do I want one. I just want to be able to stop this from happening. Any thoughts?
The same thing has been happening to me since my last update. I've just been ignoring it, but I'm on the same page as you. I refuse to get a Samsung account. Google already knows everything there is to know about me. I doubt there is anything to prevent that pop-up from appearing for now, but at least it's not any more intrusive than it already is.

I have Samsung account, so I don't have any annoying popup regarding that, but I have used my phone without signing in to the account for at least a week and haven't seen any popups either. I am using US Unlocked S8

I was starting to think I was the only one. Google is no help, who's surprised. I used the 'contact samsung' field in the popup a few dozen times. First few times they told me to disable the app in settings, so I knew they wouldn't be any help. After a lot more emails they said to bring the phone to a samsung service center. There isn't one within 100 miles, and I'm not going to send it to one, so, another dead end. When 99.9 percent of sheeple are dying to sign up, samsung isn't going to accommodate the few who still remember privacy and free will. If I didn't require a smartphone for work I would use this thing for skeet practice. The 30 year old phone that is screwed to my kitchen wall still works fine.
Here's how
This is how I fixed it. Go to Settings/ Accounts/ accounts (again)/ Samsung Account/ About/ App Info/ Notifications/ uncheck. You're welcome
Many thanks for your solution friend.
It's back and can't be disabled in Oreo
I'll second that, updated to Oreo this morning, Samsung account nag is back and haven't found a solution to disable it yet.

Not good... From the start, Radio Shack and Sprint Servers took almost 2 hrs to activate my phone and accept my Gift Card. After everything was all said and done, I was playing with the phone downloaded the updated however I didnt install it just yet.
I rebooted the phone, and now it is stuck in an endless reboot cycle... I get the Sprint logo which transitions into the 4G one and plays the little tone; Non-Stop.
All I did was tried popping in my Droid 16GB SD card and it started happening... on my way to RS now to replace. WTF ! ERRR
UPDATE: After further discussion it looks like the issue was with Exchange Server Accounts and Pin/Passwords. Continue reading the thread for more discussion
HTC is aware of the issue and will be addressing in a future update. For the time being there are two ways to bypass the reboot/restart endless cycle.
1) When creating a PIN/Password include at least one Alpha character in your password; i.e "dad1" "1223x" "bobby23", etc...
OR
2)

I FOUND A FIX TO EVERYONE'S ISSUE
Like the poster above me said, that is exactly the reason that this works.
Here's what you have to do to get exchange server hooked up normally and not have a constant reboot!
Follow these steps and you will not have any problems.
1.) Hard reset your phone (VOLUME DOWN + POWER with the phone off)
You will have to go down to "CLEAR DATA", it will ask you to confirm.
2.) Let the phone reboot, everything will be erased. Setup your exchange and google account.
WHEN YOU CHOOSE A PASSWORD, USE A NUMBER AND A LETTER
3.) Go to the market place and search for "No Lock". Download it. Install it. Run it.
4.) Press the middle button to make the phone no longer require a lock.
Voila! I just did this and it works perfect!
OP you might want to put this in the first thread you posted so other people know about it without having to go through all these pages.

Credit goes to Marc and Trip - Thanks guys.
That straight sucks yo...I didn't download the update at all. I hope your radio shack is better than mine. They had a total of 4 shipped to them, and they were all pre-ordered.
Damn it, and that's what I'm afraid of...
What's to do if this is the case at my RS. Also have you tried rebooting, and if its not too much trouble try tossing in another SD Card, then reboot
UPDATE: While typing this I was able to hard reset (Vol Up + power button)and it looks like its working... If I can duplicate the problem im gonna take it back, if not i'll keep it and keep a close eye for the next 30 days
Did you try pulling the battery?
Yup, tried pulling battery and everything...
I was able to duplicate the problem and its as followed;
Fresh EVO w/ 8GB Stock card.
Power Off using Off Button
Battery pull and insert Droid 16GB SD Card
Power On Via Button Causes restart
Only way to stop this from happening is a hard reset (Vol Up + Power Button)
What's weird is that when I do a hard reset with the 16gb droid sd card, the EVO starts up just fine and i am able to access my SD Card with all files without issues.
I'm gonna try doing the same procedures with the 8GB card to see if that causes the same problem - if so, it leads me to believe this is a permissions/mounting issue with the EVO that I'm assuming the bug/update fix takes care of. (I have still not yet installed the update in fear ROOT will not be accessible after the update)
Jason
UPDATE 1: Using the same instruction above, however going from the 16GB to 8GB the phone restarts fine with no reboot cycle.
UPDATE 2: Same instructions going from 8gb back to 16gb is now fine.... seems like the phone wanted to read the 16gb first - im confused *SCRATCHING HEAD*
I had the exact same issue with a brand new EVO that I accepted the OTA update (a Sprint rep confirmed that the update was specifically to address the SD card issue).
After the update installed and unit rebooted, it went into an endless cycle. I had to hard reset, and the device is in the process of Hands Free Activation. Will update when I have more info.
Mine is doing it with and without the memory card. F(@#& now i have to go back to the damn store! UGH!
It also started doing this after i did the upgrade.
khov,
I'm downloading the update each time I had to hard reset, however I am not installing it... Were you doing the same ?
OK GUYS, seems the issue at least for me was something with exchange server. After i connect to my exchange server it gives me this endless reboot.
here's how to fix it and start over. Press and hold VOLUME DOWN and POWER BUTTON until a screen comes up, at that screen select clear data
it will reset your phone to factory but that's better than a rebooting phone.
Trip !
You're a genius! It seems that after I initially did the hard reset, I didn't setup my exchange account. After I thought everything was all fine and dandy, I setup my exchange account started reading the replies and found Trip's findings...
Low and behold, without tampering with the SD Card, I rebooted (after i setup my exchange account) and now it has me in an endless reboot. FACK !
Anyone else please verify. Add Exchange account and restart...
It's the password that Exchange makes you set up.
Turn off "Require Password" on your Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policy under Client Access.

Yeah i know and this is not going to work for me either unless they get a fix out ASAP i HAVE to use an exchange server. It's bad enough i have to enter a damn password everytime but now this...ugh!

That's not a possibility unless someone comes out with an app to bypass the password.
I work for a VERY LARGE company that runs our exchange server, i cannot edit those settings.

Try using TouchDown then.

Thanks for the suggestions but this should not be necessary ! WTF. Who should I be pissed off at, HTC or my IT department for requiring a password.
What's weird is when I had an iPhone, I was required to put a password. When I switched to the Droid, It never prompted me for one. Now that I've switched to the EVO, its asking me for one but casues these endless reboots.
Like Trip, I cannot ask my IT dept to remove the use of a lock code. I work for a City Government that shares lots of data sensitive material via email (I know, dumb right) and I NEED access to it.

Sprint or Google is to blame here. It's Sprint's build of 2.1 that has the problem. I talked to them today and they acknowledge the problem and say that the fix won't come until 2.2 is released.
Everyone needs to call Sprint and complain in order to have a fix pushed out sooner than the 2.2 release date.
In the meantime, someone give TouchDown a shot and let us know if that is a feasable workaround or not. I would but I've already turned the password policy off for my account on my Exchange server.
I made this happen to a demo unit I was playing with (while the rep at Radio Shack continued to try to activate my phone - took nearly 2 hours to complete).
I was playing with HTC Sense's "Scenes" feature. I believe I was switching scenes too quickly, it automatically rebooted itself, and as soon as it started up again and got to the lock screen, I tried to use it and it rebooted again. I allowed it to reboot, and instead of immediately trying to unlock the screen, I let it sit and fully load, and it worked properly.
I don't know what the issue is, but I have yet to experience it with my own Evo... yet.

Wow.. suck.
I guess I got a rare one. The dude I talked to actually listened, put me on hold to speak with colleagues, and then confirmed and added my number to some list of affected people.
Hmm I just got off the phone with a Tech Support rep who sounded like he knew what he was talking about.
According to him, there are two UPDATES, an HTC system update (SD card issue) and a Firmware Update (fixes exchange issue)... he told me to go and manually check for updates - one of these should fix the issue ? does this sound legit /
So my sister in law bought a G2 to replace her iPhone 4 on my recommendation and is having an SMS problem I can't seem to diagnose.
So, when she sends a text from her G2 to someone with an iPhone, the receiver never get it. She also doesn't receive messages from them on her G2, but they show up on her old iPhone 4.
She also has a problem where when she tries to delete a text message it creates a new text message to that person as if she were going to send them a multimedia message and the date says 12/31/1969.
Does anyone have any clue what could be the cause of all this? Thanks for any help!
Sorry, that is a puzzler. Replied just to let you know that you arent being ignored. Good luck.
She needs to sign into her Apple account and shut off iMessage since it loves to screw stuff up now that she moved to Google.

What Enigma said.
Apple's system checks a phone number / email to see if it's hooked up to a device with iMessage enabled. Since her # never got a disconnect it's still trying to send it to her iPhone 4.
She needs to go to the iPhone. Go to Settings. Then turn off iMessage. It should catch up.
I disabled iMessage on all my iOS devices as a safety catch when I got my G2 (had an iPhone 5) and it's been fine. My wifes iPhone knows to send as text once I shut off iMessage on my old iPhone.
As usual, the community is amazing. Thanks so much for the assistance everyone!
So it turns out she had disabled her imessage account a couple days ago, but the problem persists.
She came over last night and I messed with it and can't figure out what's going on. I wiped the Messaging apps cache and data, but it didn't help at all. I witnessed all the weird things it does. Sure enough, when you delete a thread it creates a new one at the bottom to that same person with the date of 12/31/1969.
I tried downloading Verizon Messenger to see if that would work, but it has the same problems.
Without doing a factory reset at this point, I don't know what to do.
Since the problem is not confined to a single messaging program, I'm thinking something must be corrupted at the system level with messaging.
Does anybody have any idea how I can completely wipe the messaging app and start over without root?
Wi-Fi Calling is not working at all on my stock s7. Is anyone else experiencing this? Getting enablement error. Spoke with sprint tech support who is stumped and now escalating up to higher level team.
Rest of phone (including wifi and hotspot/tethering) working as it should.
Saw one post about disabling Bluetooth and BT share. tried that with no improvement.

What kind of testing would help?
I have never used this before, so keep it simple, lol
I have the same problem. . They told me, after escalating, that it was am account code error. . I am trying now to enable. . Update it works now after whatever account coding they updated

I didn't have any problem with the Airrave and my S5 using Wi-Fi calling.
I think I had to do that sometimes because the phone was trying to use both or maybe just to eliminate that possibility
Anyone have a solution for broken Wifi calling. I tried everything I could find including calling Sprint. Running the latest Sprint S7 update, was working before the phone updated. Really not looking forward to do a hard reset.
It's a problem with the data code on your account. Will need tech suport to fix. They are having issues with s7 not carrying code over correctly.
Thanks for the feedback, do you mean my Data plan is not correctly assigned to my phone. Ill probably have to hold the Sprint tech supports hand to get it going.
No its the actual billing codes for your account and how wifi is coded on it.
No luck, was on the phone with Sprint for almost an hour. They made a Ticket, said said I needed to take my phone to a repair center
I have to tell you after the security update it reset my pattern lock and i ended up with factory reset because the Samsung website unlock feature isn't set up for the s7. Had to use Google website and my Google account to restet. Good luck

I know what you mean. Luckily I had fingerprint unlock working cause my pin unlock broke after the update. Hoping for a work around cause I got my phone setup just right. Is there a backup I can do that will restore everything exactly the way I have it now (except Wifi calling of course)? I had titanium backup years ago but it was a pain back then.
WiFi Calling
I have the same issue with my S7 with the enablement error. I have been on the phone with Sprint for over 1 hr with no help - they state it is a Samsung software issue. I went back to Best Buy where I got the phone and exchanged it but still the same problem. I took it to the Samsung reps who were there and they also were stumped. I reached out to "advanced tech Sprint support" who stated its a Samsung issue and will not be fixed until they release a patch. I reached out to Samsung and they stated they were not aware of any issues and to send the phone to their repair center - which made no sense. I see online that some have no issues doing wifi calling so it may be luck of the draw. I think that Sprint will blame Samsung who in return will say no issue. I am going to try to exchange the phone again and hope the third time works!
Did you try a hard reset?
Check wifi calling doesn't support messaging at this time..

It only recognized my fingerprint a couple times then after power off it wouldn't. Also found out find my mobile isn't set up by Samsung for s7 yet, if ever. . I use nova launcher which allows you to save your homescreen and widget and folder setup. I use helium to back up apps and data. Restore was only really annoying not horrifically annoying. Don't forget to back up your Samsung account settings and take your sd card before you go the Google reset route. . The most help I got was the Samsung rep at best buy

Thank you, that's a lot of great information.
I had 4 reps tell me to bring it to store for repair, did hard reset etc.... got up to advanced tech support before guy called me and said "fixed the problem, go ahead and try"and worked fine after that.
Hey all!
I purchased my Essential phone brand new from Sprint yesterday. I switched from an S7. I'm trying to use the default android messages app (what I used on my S7) and I tried to enable enhanced messaging to receive stuff via WiFi. I get horrible reception at my desk in my office, so texting over WiFi is super helpful. Well, when I go to turn on enhanced messaging in the app, It just clocks, and eventually says "Excuse the wait... messages will let you know when this step is complete." I click "Got It", then it proceeds to do nothing...
Has anyone else figured how to turn on enhanced features on this device? Sprint is my carrier.

Has happened to me on all my devices I've owned when starting from a clean slate. Just give it time. Check back and reinitiate if needed. Think it has something to do with the carrier side network refresh to see your device or something.

Sorry, little bit longer on the reply this time. Lol. Busy day at work. But it's happened to me with different time lengths. It's been successful within 30 minutes and it's also taken up to 2 days. Sorry I can't be more help. Not sure of the technical side of things on what exactly causes it to know for sure and the fact that I'll just check it and it's done. Because of this, not always sure when exactly it went through either, just know that eventually it starts working and it's happened on my Essential and previous Nexus devices with Sprint, and that out of everything I'd try, time was the only thing that fixed it for me.
Hello I am experiencing the exact same issue with my new Essential phone through Sprint I purchased yesterday. Has your enhanced Features issue resolved itself yet? Any pointers? Sprint was absolutely no help.

So.. Story begins..
I bought my S8 a few months back.. Worked flawlessly (Stateside).. Then I came overseas and the problems began.. I requested my service to be suspended by Verizon and after doing so my phone began to freak out.. I don't know for sure if this is the cause but having just received my replacement device and experiencing the exact same issue. Could it be possible?
Issue: No matter what I am doing on the phone it will freeze for a split second then appears to refresh.. For example.. If I am typing an email, as I am writing my keyboard locks up and the phone becomes unusable then it jumps to the top of the app and then I can continue .. It is SOOOO frustrating because for example.. SnapChat: While I am writing and the screen freezes and refreshes, I lose everything I wrote.. If I'm scrolling through Facebook .. It jumps back to the top..This became more frequent and even more annoying! Even if I am in the settings menu scrolled all the way to the bottom.. it freezes for a second and then jumps to the top of the app.. So.. I began removing apps I thought could be the cause of the problem.. I cleared the cache on the phone as well as the apps, reset settings, removed/re-added Google accounts, even tried some developer options to scale down the graphics, background processes etc.. No avail.. I finally caved in and contacted Verizon who put me in touch with TechCoach app to remote in a see the issue for themselves.. All the troubleshooting steps they walked me through, I had already done.. So they sent me a replacement.. I set the new phone up, installed the software updates, just a few apps to test and sure enough same issue! Then I wiped the phone again.. didn't install any software updates, I left it bare bones and even set the phone up as new (no restore from Google)... So as I am writing this TechCoach wants to send me yet another replacement device.. But I'm certain the "Certified Like-New" S8 they send me will end up doing the same thing.. What it appears to be to me (No expert here) is that once I came overseas and suspended my line.. There's some service/app that is trying to push/pull over network data and since it's unable to do so it's causing the phone to glitch? I mean I really can't think of any other reason this could be happening .. Furthermore, I tried different Wi-Fi connections, changed performance modes, disabled many "enhanced features" ... Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated while I wait for the replacement device.... Thanks XDA!
Update:
Verizon had to reactivate my line before they could send a replacement... So I asked the rep to keep my line active to see if the issue persists.. Would you believe it worked flawless as it did when I first bought it without issues.. So my theory was right!!! Some service running in the background is attempting to refresh without connectivity.. I'm now going through every system app to disable and test ... more to follow!
