I've been using my Dragonfly Red with a USB OTG cable on my Nexus 6P with the app USB Audio Player Pro.
On the OnePlus 5 the app does not recognise any audio device.
Shouldn't it work with this phone too?
works just fine with my oppo ha-2se, all music apps... even usb audio player pro.
Turned off the phone and plugged in the DAC before turning it back on and now it works.
I have the same issue with mine but with a Sound Blaster E5.
I tried what you did and had no luck on my end.
So, I reached out to OnePlus' support as it was working with other phones and they recognized there is indeed an issue. For now, my ticket has been escalated to a higher level for addressing the issue for a future update but haven't got a response yet from them.
If the situation gets a revelant update, I'll post it here.

No, it isn't, then that's not your problem. I still get connection problems when I plug in the headphones when the phone is running for a few hours without reboot, in that case, a reboot solves it.

Hi Campfred,
Did you get any information about you problem ? I'm in the same situtation: OP5/E5 Soundblaster. I opened a case the Onplus Support but (after some tests), the conclusion is that DAC is incompatible with Oneplus...
Thanks

So far, my ticket only got escalated to level 2 but no answer back yet. I will send a reply just to bump it up again so I don't get forgotten.
I know for sure that the E5 is not the issue. It's programmed the way it is supposed to be programmed for Android using Google's standards. The issue is on OnePlus' side. I have tried other USB DACs and none have worked. I don't know how it was possible for the OP to make the dragonfly works only by plugging it in before boot because my friend's dragonfly never connected using that method on mine.
I remember back on my Note 3 that some third party ROMs weren't compatible with USB audio. So I'm guessing that OnePlus just never thought of testing that out and making sure it's working.

Not so far.
It's supposed to be fixed in the next update according to the few supervisors who responded to my ticket but they can't tell when it'll be available...
Has anybody tried using dacs on AOSP-based ROMs?

Me neither. I'll ask them what's up with that. It's been like three updates that they had the logs about it and it is STILL not there.
How do you think I feel?
I have a $1200 Woo Audio WDS DAC and it didn't work. Had to temporarily buy a Google Pixel while I wait for OP to fix it.
I'm using Companion One as USB audio device and is working fine. Tested with USB Audio Player Pro and Neutron player

Still talking with them on the support ticket. They're trying to push the fault on Creative's side but I already talked to them beforehand and their product uses known standards that does not require to be tweaked for each specific devices (like, standard protocols are standards usually to ease compatibility, right?) so, the technical support discussion is still going on on my end. Honestly, this is frustrating.
Don't flame me if this is stupid! My Dragonfly Red didn't work until I found that in Settings/Advanced, "OTG storage" was disabled by default. Enabled, and dac was seen right away.

I won't flame you. This is something that we could have overlooked easily. xD
But being someone who uses USB flash drives on his phone once in a while, this option is already enabled for me so that was not my issue. Sadly. :/

Hey Dal and company
Is anybody still actively working on getting audio in via Bluetooth microphone on the nook color? If yes what is the status and if no still let us know so our hopes can be dashed forever and be put to rest. I love my nook color and the lack of audio input must be the biggest item on our wishlist to be solved.
Thank you guys for your amazing efforts so far with CM7. Without you the nook color would be nothing

Yup, simply report the post and a mod will take care of it. Someone else reported the post (thanks jago25_98) and that was the only reason I knew it needed to be moved. So if you need a mod's attention, the report post feature is the #1 way to get it!!
I'd like to know too, I have an irrational desire to turn my nook into a ridiculously large SIP phone!
no answer?
sigh... looks like we are not getting any answer on this one folks. I guess its time to officially give up on this. Its a shame, the nook would have had infinitely more potential if audio in was possible. personally i have found my nook can receive files from a blackberry phone from as much as 10ft away [using latest nightlies] but trying to send a file to the phone requires them to be a couple inches apart. It seems that the transmit power is the problem. For a bluetooth microphone this shouldnt be a problem as the data is going in the opposite direction....
would sure have liked a reply though
thanks for the good work otherwise folk.

I have been searching on the web for any information. It would be really nice to find out if at all it is possible and what are the technical issues related to getting this work . Not being able to use mic is the only major handicap NC has in my opinion.
I have high regards for guys at working at XDA-developers and Cyanognemod , and I agree 100% that without their support NC would be nothing. Thanks !!!
Just checked NCS and guess what!!! Software Version:3045.0000.1328.2046 Downloading now

Fantastic news! This is indeed GDR2/Amber! Screenshots below, let me know if anyone wants to see/know anything else
EDIT: This also allows you to set the screen time out up to 30 minutes (no more 5 minute nonsense)
EDIT 2: And group MMS is back!
YEa but, No FM radio
Has anyone actually downloaded the ffu? I'm wondering if its just turned off in the registry, just needs a SMALL tweak to turn it back on.
It seems to be both software disabled and hardware unable.
From the looks of it Nokia/VZW did not run the wire from the chipset to the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Somewhat confirmed at http community.verizonwireless.com/thread/803729
I hope someone can confirm this with an actual disassembly of a normal 92x and the 928.

I'm not sure what you mean by "uninformed copout".
Also I did get what Neo replied by email before the mod wiped the thread.

As I mentioned on another thread here at XDA, If we can get the software side of the disabling re-enabled, I can work on the hardware side. I have the tools and the know how. I'm only short on WP8 rooting/hacking. Last time I loaded a rom was wm6 on the sprint htc mogal.

What I meant that the response was the easiest to assume; while that's most likely not true. Check my WP8 FM thread.
Hi,
I'm a huge fan of USB-C to HDMI (used it a lot on my LG G5), but unfortunately it isn't enabled in Oxygen OS.
I'm aware that it's possible to mirror the screen via Miracast, Chromecast, and possibly DisplayLink, but I find these solutions to be far less reliable/stable.
So the big question is, will we ever be able to use USB-C to HDMI on the OnePlus 5 hardware (is it physically disabled)? Or is it a firmware issue which could be solved via modding/flashing?
I realize most people don't care about this feature, but many still do and I find that it a shame to be missing such a great feature eventhough we theoretically have the hardware required.
Thank you for taking the time to read the questions, and any answer or fix would be greatly appreciated.
Don't think so
It's just USB 2.0 with type C header.

You can use a displaylink adapter. Works with USB 2.0.
I don't understand why OnePlus doesn't support MHL, my S4 had it like 4 years ago. On USB 2.0 of course.

Once Android O or LineageOS is released publicly, you should be able to install the aptX and aptXHD codecs via root or recovery.

Android O supports Aptx, you can't find these options on Nougat.
The ph1 doesn't support it but they're looking at it apparently
aptX worked with my Anker Soundbuds Curve, at least it seemed to. Unlike when I connect to my car, the aptX didn't automatically change in the Dev Options area when I was listening on the headset. Sound quality was good, but it's Bluetooth, so still noticeably not wired.

This. Also they said it's more of a licensing issue than a hardware/software issue.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes, aptX is nothing but a codec. Purely software, but has to be licensed from Qualcomm. Plenty of devices use aptX even without Qualcomm processors (like Huaewi phones running HiSilicon chips and Samsung phones with Exynos chips).
I am really hoping it is supported in the final version of Oreo for Essential, licensed if necessary. Just started using my new Bluetooth headphones today, listening to FLAC, and had a few drops during some songs. I syncing some of the same songs to my HTC 10 tonight and will try to see if I can get an apt-X connection going tomorrow with the HTC and compare the results a bit. I really, really want to keep my beautiful Essential Phone, with its clean, stock OS and dialer that puts HTC to shame. I am not an audio expert, but I am sensitive to hearing new details or lack of...like I can't stand the compression of satellite radio. I wonder if Essential would have to license LDAC (Sony)?
Hello,
can anybody please confirm that Xiaomi really managed to break Ant+ support in Android 9 (which means they did not test all features before releasing a new update) I cannot get it to work, see screenshot of Ant tester. It used to work under Android 8.1

Unfortunately no. It surprises me how little reaction I get, I reported to Xiaomi, no response yet. Seems customers are ready to accept things like that these days, I feel really sad and angry, since this seems to affect many Android 9 devices. I wish I hadn't updated from 8.1 at all
You are absolutely right!
I'm hoping for a real solution, but for now I'm using a ant+ dongle connected to the phone with otg cable.
There are a lot of thread reporting faulty ant+ support after updating to pie.
Seems to be issue with google, all devices updated to Pie has the issues.
