Hello, I've had this phone for less than a week. The performance is great, but it heats up to 40 degrees just browsing facebook. When I play games, it goes above that. I'm running stock rom, using Total Launcher. What can I do to limit the heating and/or find any potential apps that could be causing these problems?
I personally say installing a custom rom is the best option. After doing that my X727 stays cool all the time

I've had my new phone for almost two weeks now and noticed that it runs uncomfortably warm. I noticed this right at the start in fact, a few minutes after I first turned it on, but as the built-in apps updated themselves I knew that would heat it up. It still got warm afterwards though, even before I installed my usual apps and transferred my data to it. Just having it switched on and fiddling about with the built-in apps was enough to make it heat up significantly after about 10 minutes use.
I then installed Battery Circle which reported a toasty 43 degrees centigrade. This seems rather too hot for comfort and the battery drain is quite significant - it dropped from 100% to 75% in just under two hours of use (not totally continuous) of web browsing, BBC and Facebook apps etc so I wonder, is there a hardware problem with my phone or if it's just the 808 chipset that's prone to running hot and hence normal for this model? Overall battery life even with moderate use isn't exactly fantastic, either and rather worse than my old Moto G (2014).
I did Google it, but couldn't find anything conclusive, even on XDA, with quite a lot of people seeing this issue and an equal number not seeing it, so can anyone shed some light on it? Is the upcoming Marshmallow update with its improved power management likely to alleviate it?
Although I like the phone and the performance is very good, I might just return it because of this issue and get a different phone. Prerequisites are stereo speakers and a minimum of 2GB RAM for smooth, stutter-free operation, everything else is not so critical. Any suggestions for alternatives? I paid about £350 for it off Amazon and would like to spend about the same on a possible replacement.
Same here, just browsing internet for 10 minutes, and phone turns noticeable hot.
Android 6.0 installed yesterday, same hot issue in the new ROM ( bootloader locked, ROM stock, recovery Stock)
Purchased in Amazon (399 + tax)

I own MXS XT1572 (Indian dual sim variant) and it does not get as hot as you say... but yes, after 1 hour of internet browsing it does get hot enough to feel uncomfortable in hand. 10 minutes is something I noticed in one of my friend's Moto X Pure... and another friend has no issue with his moto x pure...
So maybe yes it can be a problem with half of the devices...
Well, good thing about 6.0 update is: temp is about 10degrees cooler from lollipop. I been doing the exact same thing and noticed the change. Pretty much constant gaming with full gpu use. Must be updated kernel or gpu. I'm hoping devs can look into this and come up with a rom/kernel to tweak these settings little bit more to make this device solid and put heating issue to bed.

That's great news.
Been using it over the last couple of days in this colder winter weather without it getting excessively warm. It looks like it's quite sensitive to the ambient temperature, so I wouldn't be surprised if it suffered thermal runaway on a really hot day and burned itself out.
Do you people recommends to send this phone to warranty with this issue?
Just using Chrome for 5 minutes and battery show 42 degrees (celcius) , i dont remember any other app doing the same thing
Thanks in advance

I was running the battery dead out-of-the-box due to Google shovelware. Disabling as many Google apps as possible and using a browser with an ad blocker has me ending the day at 45%. If you have any ad spewing apps, get rid of them too. Buy or find ad-free versions of your apps.
Hi guys,
I have purchased Note 4 recently and it seems to be heating in minimal tasks also like surfing the internet. i have flashed KITKAT, LOLLIPOP(default) and MARSHMALLOW but in all these firmwares the problem seemed to be consistent. Earlier i used snapdragon phone which was clocked at 2.3 GHZ and used to heat @ heavy games like No Limits, with recording on but this one is heating in angry birds itself. Though no lags are observed. I have not tried the Marshmallow version latest yet but some body told that latest update fixed heating issue. The root problem i see is its Processor clocked @ 2.7 GHZ, i mean this much we see in PC. I dont understand why they have gone so far. Now Samsung kernel must be clocked such way that on demand it bumps the frequency to max. This max i want to limit to 2 GHZ but without knocking down KNOX warranty. If some one has latest updated Marshmallow release and can confirm that it is indeed not heating please comment or tell me the solution to this problem, i really like this phone but hate when it heats. I am ok with slight lagging due to underclocking. i am willing to flash kernels with lower max frequency via ODIN. No custom recovery intended. Also i dont want to loose on warranty.
Thanks and Regards,
Really looking forward to solution

I have a Verizon Note 4. I did have heat issues with Lollipop. Since I installed Marshmallow and did a factory reset, it only gets warm with heavy use. Some app updates have had my Note 4 running warm, but a reset of the phone seems to fix it.

Seems like custom rom is the only option bro
The Snapdragon 805 SOC does have a bad habit of getting really hot when running heavy tasks.
Not only was my phone Hot for every second I used it but... Look at this amazing SOT.
I finally figured out how to keep Google play services from draining the battery: burn through your entire battery before it even has time to start up.
Hey guys
I'm starting to worry about this issue I have. I've noticed my phone is heating up in the lower part of the phone when using for instance youtube app, sometimes browsing too. I won't count gaming because it's no suprise, but the odd thing is that when i use Twitch app to watch streams or VoDs, it's cold as when it's idle. Seems strange right ?
Would appreciate if someone could share their experiences with it, oh and it's stock firmware, latest and I got it about 3 month ago. Not rooted nor have I done something to it.
DFV's are broken on stock, CPU stays at 997MHz min, GPU also stays at 320 MHz & that is a good enough explanation why it's getting hot in the aria where SoC is located. On costume ROM's both things are fixed long time ago.
I don't know if this is the right place to post this.
Summer 2017, I have bought a refurbished Note 4 SM-N910F from a local dealer for €300. I immediately rooted it with TWRP as recovery.
I didn't knew much about tweaking back then but I came across apps like Greenify, L Speed and HEBF Optimizer.
However, few weeks later I managed to soft-brick it.
I brought it back to life with a stock rom found somewhere on this site.
Months later I screwed up by bricking the damn thing again, I installed Nameless rom but it had terrible heating issues, even after a week.
I got back to stock again a few times with Emotion kernel installed.
Current situation:
I am now on stock rooted MM with stock kernel.
I have issues with my phone while gaming. It literally throttles the CPU speed down to 1190 MHz in less than 10 minutes while it doesn't get even warm, literally no sign of high CPU speeds at all.
Now I'm on Xposed (Wanam's build) and installed DVFS disabler. The problem is gone.
But now my phone gets warm even while web browsing, and even with the same games where it didn't heat up before
Please help guys I'm sure you know more than I do.
I just want to play games without heat and thermal throttling just like before...
Hello everyone,
I recently bought my new redmi note 7 ( 3gb ). It is working fine but it is heating too much and very often. Normally at my place temperature is about 38 - 40°C. When i am using my phone i feel it warm even when i am just surfing internet but when i play games it burns like hell. Also thermal throttling is lot more than other devices.
So it would be great if anyone would help me in this.
Note:- I have debloated most of the apps and also my bootloader is unlocked.
Thanks.

There are no specific apps. It heats in almost every app. It lags while using apps like instagram, chrome, hostar, facebook, pubg mobile, etc.

The heating is normal as compared to room temperature but thermal throttling is just too much. No other device like M20, max pro m1,m2 heats like this much and even if the heat they run smoothly.

mine only heats up when gaming, i'd recommend flashing evira 1.9 kernel and using LKT magisk module and setting it to turbo mode thats what im using right now, little to no thermal throttle at all.
Hurry up
