So I would like to buy an LG v20 from b and h online. The only thing that concerns me is getting a boot loop of death on it. Is there any fix for that?
Why would you think there's a problem?

Of v20s? Weird, nobody is complaining here or in reddit. By contrast the subreddit of the galaxy note 4 has a complain about emmc failure every 3 days on average.
I've not see anything either. Where have you seen reports of such?
BTW bootloop doesn't happen to people, it happens to their phones
So far we haven't see any boot-looping issue on V20. I've got it once on my old G Flex 2 but luckily, it turns out to be the battery issue. Not the famous loose contact chips issue.
I think the issue you're referring to was for the V10
I've seen so many posts about people *****ing about bootloops (FACEBOOK NOT XDA) and since I've had all the LG phones except the G6 I've never had a bootloop problem and I've put these phones to the test. I really push these phones to the limit and in my experience they keep up quite well.

I Googled about the lgv20 and came up with a search result for a lawsuit resulting from the boot looping issue that LG phones have been having off and on so just was concerned. It said it had something to do with the solder that they used on the mother board.
Thread should be locked. Title is misleading, makes it look like you have a bootlooping V20 which you don't.

Samsung phones were exploding but that didn't stop people from buying the s8. I few people had the bootloop problem, why would that stop you from buying LG?...

If your question is about G6, why is it in V20 thread and why do you mention V20?
As far as I know, no one has reported boot-loop issues for V20 or G6.
This is my first LG phone and I'm coming from Nexus 6. I have to say this phone is solid.....I love it. I have no idea what boot loop issue you are talking about thou. I have had no problems at all of any kind. Also this is the first phone I have owned that I didn't root.

Please change the title . It's misleading and will affect those who just browse for any defects of v20 before any buying decision
Hi I'm from Argentina I had last year a lg g4 bought in b & h and at the time of using it almost 1 year had the bootloop problem, I sent it in guarantee to the store and they gave me back the money
As I loved the camera of the g4 wait for the v20, I have it 3 months ago, yesterday began as the g4 to ignite and remain in the logo of lg,
Watching videos on youtube I saw that they put them in the freezer to freeze them and then they start for a while
I do not dare to do that, but if I leave it on top of a cold sheet outside, and within half an hour I'll start, but it will be hard for the seconds to restart and I'll be back in the Lg logo again.
I can tell you from experience that if they have the problem of bootloop or how to say but fail that I guarantee it
The infamous Boot loop of death is a g4/v10 issue I am unsure why the v20 is included.
The Boot loop of death is a result of poor soldering and the snapdragon 808s heat issues. The snapdragon 820 does not exhibit this heat issue.
The v20 should be safe from this specific issue.
Boot loops can happen on any device and is usually the result of a poorly done root attempt or a Bad image from a rom. These are usually recoverable and are not permanent.

I am turning on my rooted v20, and when I tried to factory reset, I know am in a boot loop.
The v20 definitely bootloader. I have my third one that dies this and Verizon will only send me another v20. Phone and LG are problem.
I brought couple used T-Mobile V20 which is H918 but both seems start having the boot looping issues that would restarts itself 6-8 times a day with normal use, sometimes even just listening songs with bluetooth at work it rebooted 2 times in 4 hours... I can't get replacement from T-Mobile since I didn't buy from their store and don't have receipt for LG to warranty although it still made within a year
And they are all stock without rooted
My wife just had her V20 start bootlooping today. It doesn't stop at all just continues to reboot over and over. She is on the latest stock ROM unrooted. We we're about to switch from Sprint to T-Mobile now we're probably not going to be able to trade in for a new LG

hi friends... i have a 3600 htc since 2 months ago. I am dissatisfied with it, not only most of the paint has gone away, the screen is not visible at daytime, etc... but what pisses me the most is the GSM phone performance. It really needs a very strong signal. A $10 nokia phone works much better.
Do you guys have the same problem, or maybe my phone is defective?
kind regards,
rupps
- It's worldwide known that black P3600's are peeling (for this reason I bought a white one)
- I think almost all PDA's have problems with the sunlight
- The reception of GSM is very good, I think yours is defective
my P3600 performes very well too, no problem at all! Even in weak gsm signal its perform is excellent no drop of call
hey dudes ... thanks for the reply!
for the first poster... ok, it may be worldwide known that it peels off, but it is not certainly an excuse for a $600 phone, i think this has a very bad quality finish. I think it is also not an excuse to say most PDA's have a problem with sunlight... a non-reflective screen has not to be that expensive nowadays (all phones have one !!!!!). For me the issue is that, when combined with a touch screen and a sunny weather, the problem is really serious, the phone is nearly unusable
I am investigating the GSM issue because any cheap phone behaves noticeabily better.

Why dont u use the search function of the trinity forum?
You might would have found this
http://rapidshare.com/files/42084911/1.46.00.11.rar.html
hey saminem thanx for the post... i already did that however, upgraded, but i dont' see much improvement, if any at all. Indoors phone performance is not very good IMHO. Ive seen people in the forum speaking miracles about that radio update, kinda "gps lock is now 5 times faster! GSM signal is better!" and stuff like that... unfortunately .. not in my case
Which ROM are you using?
Do you have any other applications installed?
I can't say I've had any reception problems with my phone unless I install too much stuff in it.
Regarding the sunlight problem, I believe there are anti-glare screen protectors out there that can help. Maybe give that a go.
I can't say I'm having much problems either.
hey chunga!
yes I have many applications installed now, but none running when I make the tests. I dont think it is a processor load issue, I'd bet it is the GSM antenna. I upgraded to radio version 1.46.00.11, still have to try 1.46.30.11, but really, I would say there was no improvement for me when moving from 1.38 to 1.46.
thanx for the post on anti-glare filters, definitely, I must try them!!!
What are the "tests" you're talking about?
I'm hoping you ain't using the SPB apps. They're beautiful but caused me so much grieve.
Also, what ROM are you using? Certain ROMs caused me so much grief it's not funny...
Anyways, don't give up hope in fixing it, coz it'll eventually all be good... it's not as stable as a $10 Nokia phone, but the potential of this phone is so beautiful...
(Only yesterday I learnt that I can control my computer's media player using wifi... DAMN it's awesome!!)

I bet you have your telephone band set on network = "auto" and GSM-band = "auto". (Start > Settings > Phone > Band)
Try setting the network to "GSM".
chunga, for "test" i just mean calling people from different places around my area with a trinity and a traditional gsm phone, and ask them about how they hear me, and also how I hear them. 100% they say no doubt with a traditional phone the quality is (much much) better.
ROMS: Official HTC, GPS-Enabled Rom (1.23.xx i think it is), and Radio ROM 1.46.00.11, just upgraded from official 1.38.xx but no improvement. Considering WM6 upgrade, just too lazy to reinstall all the appz
Arilexed, About the Band: UMTS coverage is not very good on my area, so I have the phone forced to always use GSM bands. Thanx for the advice. I also thought that this would improve the signal.
And Chunga, hehe, of course the potential of this phone is awesome, I even do SSH to my linux servers from it!! It just pisses me a little that something as basic as the phone works so-so, while other much more complex things such a skype-wireless work OK
If you don't use activesync for the calendar function, i'd really suggest you to consider upgrading to the PDAVIET WM6 ROM. It really is so stable and fast imo.

All joking aside but How the hell would I know why?
I would assume that the Dev for ROM manager will add support for the fire but who knows?
I am borderline retarded anyway so you are asking the wrong guy.
I've sent the phone to repair center for bad camera functionality (due to DRM removal from unlocking bootloader, which I haven't said that to sony), and the phone is now coming back to me.
According to the e-mail trail, the diagnosis found that screen needs to be replaced and perform a software update.
I'm still in high doubt that they'll somehow put DRM back into my phone but here's hoping.
Just wanted to share this if anybody had any case where people got DRM after warranty service.
I've sent my phone to the service for water damage with unlocked bootloader, but i'm waiting for an answer from them. If I get it back, i'll let you know
Good job. Not speak english.
Pero es una gran noticia haber si te lo mandan con las drms reparadas. Seria una gran noticia .

New phone. Maybe
Alas. They just changed the screen. My TA partition is left unchanged, lost. Guess I'm stuck with DRM restoration patch. Oh well.
Only the Sony software development team is able to inject you DRM keys. Official stores will not, 3rd party phone repairers will not take their time, and still nobody has found a way to manipulate the TA partition(thats nice in my opinion)

I had the same thing with my Z2...
I cracked the screen - sent off for PIAD fix.... and they replaced the phone! However,.. I had not UL the bootloader at that stage..
Subsequently unlocked the bootloader and lost DRM... then had a screen issue - sent off PRAYING they would replace... but they just fixed screen and updated software.... but DRM was not restored... Bugger..
I've got my phone back and they replaced it completely. It has the TA Partition intact and it's on the newest version and another IMEI.
They probably couldn't access my phone's screen and then decided to replace it.

I've sent my phone to w-support, the service center from Sony here in Germany and they repaired it but with the notice "In the present device intervention in the original software from Sony Mobile was found. For errors caused thereby normally the right to a repair under warranty will become void! Your device has been repaired on goodwill!", because I've unlocked my bootloader.
I had yellowness on my display and my phone was overheated. w-support replaced my speaker, display and battery.

Hey I M from India, but It is a hardware problem not a software problem,so I should go to Motorola centre or lenovo?
I have the issue too... Imho the stock rom is highly unstable... The phone getting hot, ghost touches and an earphone channel sometimes working and sometimes not! Furthermore we have the quadroot vulnerability. Time for an update from Lenovo/Motorola. Or better: CyanogenMod!

As far as ghost touch are concerned motorola has provided a fix at its service centres without changing the panel.Read this on the motorola forum.
I found this on Moto X Pure thread on reddit
"Thanks to one of /u/jumnhy's suggestions, I decided to put some electrical tape around and on the digitizer and lcd connections inside the phone. After isolating these connectors with the tape, the problem went away all together. Anybody that finds this thread later on, it might be worth trying if you're trying to save yourself from buying an entire new display like I was."
hey hey hey fellas....atlast found something which satisfies everyone regarding ghost touch....the latest qualcomm has made severe changes inside turbo powered charger which couldn't able to stabilize the input voltage fluctuations. and that is why we all expirence ghost touch... i even checked my socket with Multimeter...hell yeah that was true....
atlast ive plugged stock moto turbo charger to the stabilizer, believe it or not i played nova 3 for exactly 44 mins beside charge was on !
so this caused ghost touch !
hope you guys understood

I found something interesting and that you might not know or imagine, but there was a time when I couldnt use my phone outdoors. Every time I tried to write my password the ghost touch appeared And all those things we face. And its related to autobright system when in places with a lot of sun interfering. When I deactivated autobrightness the problem disappeared when I tried to use the phone on the street. Dont know if its a coincidence, but you might try. Looks like the screen cant handle high brightness for a long time
It isn't related to charger only, because ghost touch is also visible when u max the brightness

I can confirm this. Originally I would only experience ghost touch when using the quick charger. However, I now experience it when the phone heats up or when I turn the brightness up - even when it is not charging. I have tried factory resets etc. but I believe it is a hardware-related issue. I will be sending it back to Lenovo asap for repairs and hopefully they can fix the issue.

Yup, on Lenovo forums mods have confirmed that the have provided service centres with a fix that would stop this without replacing the screens, I believe what they are doing is covering the digitiser with an insulating tape/film. Anyone who have got this fixed do mention his/her screen type using an app called "Dev check" on playstore, together let's fight this annoying engineering disaster [emoji23]

If you don't wanna mess up anything then flash the stock firmware, relock the bootloader and visit the service centre. And if u wanna try out for yourself then then there's one thing I believe might work out, I haven't done this myself but I think this CAN solve the issue, try covering the digitiser with any insulating film/tape.
Again I would highly recommend you to relock the bootloader and visit service centre.
And do update your progress here, that would surely help others
