hi friends... i have a 3600 htc since 2 months ago. I am dissatisfied with it, not only most of the paint has gone away, the screen is not visible at daytime, etc... but what pisses me the most is the GSM phone performance. It really needs a very strong signal. A $10 nokia phone works much better.
Do you guys have the same problem, or maybe my phone is defective?
kind regards,
rupps
- It's worldwide known that black P3600's are peeling (for this reason I bought a white one)
- I think almost all PDA's have problems with the sunlight
- The reception of GSM is very good, I think yours is defective
my P3600 performes very well too, no problem at all! Even in weak gsm signal its perform is excellent no drop of call
hey dudes ... thanks for the reply!
for the first poster... ok, it may be worldwide known that it peels off, but it is not certainly an excuse for a $600 phone, i think this has a very bad quality finish. I think it is also not an excuse to say most PDA's have a problem with sunlight... a non-reflective screen has not to be that expensive nowadays (all phones have one !!!!!). For me the issue is that, when combined with a touch screen and a sunny weather, the problem is really serious, the phone is nearly unusable
I am investigating the GSM issue because any cheap phone behaves noticeabily better.

Why dont u use the search function of the trinity forum?
You might would have found this
http://rapidshare.com/files/42084911/1.46.00.11.rar.html
hey saminem thanx for the post... i already did that however, upgraded, but i dont' see much improvement, if any at all. Indoors phone performance is not very good IMHO. Ive seen people in the forum speaking miracles about that radio update, kinda "gps lock is now 5 times faster! GSM signal is better!" and stuff like that... unfortunately .. not in my case
Which ROM are you using?
Do you have any other applications installed?
I can't say I've had any reception problems with my phone unless I install too much stuff in it.
Regarding the sunlight problem, I believe there are anti-glare screen protectors out there that can help. Maybe give that a go.
I can't say I'm having much problems either.
hey chunga!
yes I have many applications installed now, but none running when I make the tests. I dont think it is a processor load issue, I'd bet it is the GSM antenna. I upgraded to radio version 1.46.00.11, still have to try 1.46.30.11, but really, I would say there was no improvement for me when moving from 1.38 to 1.46.
thanx for the post on anti-glare filters, definitely, I must try them!!!
What are the "tests" you're talking about?
I'm hoping you ain't using the SPB apps. They're beautiful but caused me so much grieve.
Also, what ROM are you using? Certain ROMs caused me so much grief it's not funny...
Anyways, don't give up hope in fixing it, coz it'll eventually all be good... it's not as stable as a $10 Nokia phone, but the potential of this phone is so beautiful...
(Only yesterday I learnt that I can control my computer's media player using wifi... DAMN it's awesome!!)

I bet you have your telephone band set on network = "auto" and GSM-band = "auto". (Start > Settings > Phone > Band)
Try setting the network to "GSM".
chunga, for "test" i just mean calling people from different places around my area with a trinity and a traditional gsm phone, and ask them about how they hear me, and also how I hear them. 100% they say no doubt with a traditional phone the quality is (much much) better.
ROMS: Official HTC, GPS-Enabled Rom (1.23.xx i think it is), and Radio ROM 1.46.00.11, just upgraded from official 1.38.xx but no improvement. Considering WM6 upgrade, just too lazy to reinstall all the appz
Arilexed, About the Band: UMTS coverage is not very good on my area, so I have the phone forced to always use GSM bands. Thanx for the advice. I also thought that this would improve the signal.
And Chunga, hehe, of course the potential of this phone is awesome, I even do SSH to my linux servers from it!! It just pisses me a little that something as basic as the phone works so-so, while other much more complex things such a skype-wireless work OK
If you don't use activesync for the calendar function, i'd really suggest you to consider upgrading to the PDAVIET WM6 ROM. It really is so stable and fast imo.

HI there
i just wondering will the andriod do any better than the WM device on the Voice call? My wife always complaining about the background noise is too loud when i an using my HTC Touch.
Thanks
There's nothing wrong with your touch. The problem is, researchers haven't been able to find the bug in wives which causes them to complain. We're trying to find an update that will stop them from complaining and instead replace complaints with soft cooing noises. All updates take time, however.
Caid.

The OS has nothing to do with this background noise. If your wife is hearing background noises, it is typically the network.

Right after flashing with a new baked rom from here i have sorted out many of the software "glitches" the oem rom had and the phones performance is quite good.
im still pretty annoyed at htc that i have to rely on the community to fix their poorly coded software
but at the end of the day its device is one thing .... a phone!!!!! ....and at that, yet again it fails !! the signal reception is crap ... and when it does work the call quality is shocking for such a state of the art handset.
my sisters 2 year old samsung piece of junk gets full signal on the same network, where mine struggles with 1 bar...

have you tried diffrent radio?
i have 2.04.50.22_2 which i think is the newest for my country (uk) the new raido did improve it slightly but it still sucks !

Nope. I've never had any problems with SMS either and, as far as I'm concerned, the reception on this phone is 100% fine.
Thread after thread on this forum seems to be taken up with whiners who assume that every little quibble that they have is a problem for everyone. For the record, not only am I perfectly happy with my HD2 but I think HTC did a brilliant job with the hardware AND the software.
+1
I am tired of HTC bashing ... Stop it, please.
If you don't like the phone, sell it. I am very happy with mine. Never had sms problem and reception is just excellent. So the problem is not the phone it self.
No SMS problems with mine either, no bad reception, but several other "glitches".
But then again, im throwing .cabs at this phone in an extreme pace
I really do like the phone and would not want to sell it for one minute. However I do not make many calls.
My reception is shocking as well. In comparison to other phones the reception is extremely poor at best.
I said in a thread a while ago that this phone is fundamentally flawed. I say this because of the positioning of the aerial at the bottom of the phone - and HTC's recommendation not to hold it at the bottom. How the hell else do you hold a phone? And why put the aerial there in the first place?
I really don't think that the phone will get any better with ROM updates.
What I do not like about this phone is the keyboard/touchscreen. I'm slowly getting to grips with it but it's a slow process and quite frustrating. It runs very smooth no crashing or hangups thankfully. I had the SMS bug but turning it off and on cured that..for now. I've sent three texts in landscape mode typing by accident, urgh!
Signal wise, I get an average of 3/full bars in my bedroom. Living on the border between Northern and Republic of Ireland I barely got 2 with previous phones (LG Secret/Xperia X1) using o2. This is stock ROM (1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE) and stock radio (2.04.50.22_2). I'm very impressed with signal alone, but I try not to cover up the bottom.
Well I have never had to modify the way I hold the phone and, as I said before, I don't have any reception problems. If the phone were "fundamentally flawed" as you suggest then the problem you report would be experienced universally.
If people have issues with their phone then I don't have a problem with them discussing them to work together to find a solution. However, that's not what is happening in this forum. Instead people are just whining, complaining and making ridiculous claims and assumptions. The phone isn't fundamentally flawed, it works perfectly for the silent majority who don't have any problems. I understand if people get frustrated by annoying problems but you'd be far better off working constructively to find solutions rather than talking crap.

No, all it tells me is that most people that come here to complain are having problems. Nothing more and nothing less.
Has it occurred to you that you might be the problem rather than HTC or the phone? In between all the *****ing and moaning you haven't bothered to tell us anything about what you've done to the phone. How do we know that you haven't installed an application that's responsible for the problems you're experiencing? How do we know that you haven't changed a setting or cocked up a registry setting? If you want help then stop this childish ranting, otherwise don't bother posting.

try going to the official HTC web site, download all the software updates. As for the reception, change the bandwidth in order to get full 3g network coverage but be warned, it will drain your batter even more!
I read all the complaints and this was one of the main reason.
I'm too curious, and I'm used to not buy the devices that everybody owns.
It's too easy
So I want to see how this phone can evolve.
The HW is more than decent, the keyboard is awesome, the form factor is perfect, the design is sexy, the battery life is really good.
So I hope that we can improve this phone greatly, maybe with just few tweaks.
And remeber what's happened with many many devices.
The milstone, the storm, the imate 8502, the xperia x1 and so on, they were all crappy phones initially, now they are all usable and enjoyable, so let the same happens for X2 !!
Heh, it's not SUCH a madness
Well I made it usable, I mean I do alot with it.....
Without any tweaks, just by uninstalling not needed Panels....

Yes I already read the (few) suggestions already in the wild.
Atm I'm just seeing what of the sw I used in other wm devices works.
I tried navigon demo which works flawlessly (but a bit outdated), while I
can't get working IGO8 or any newer Navigon version's.
Also aebuttons plus doesn't works reliably to map the volume rocker as scroller.
I'm just a week or so to see what else is wrong, before starting to kill the sonyericsson's addons.
ATM I'm not unhappy, and my milestone is a bit jealous...

I manually edited the related registry values, my X2 has made errors on SD filsystems just few minutes after the unboxing (and few minutes before the MR2 update).
But I'm afraid this fix is not bulletproof, I saw the disappeared SD after MR + SD fix.
I hope in a bugfix from SE, even if they doesn't want release an MR3 firmware.
I think all is OK if you got it as a toy for a good price
Does anyone has a contact to someone responsible in SE so we know for sure they already dumped the phone?

Here (in Italy) the phone starts selling now, Sonyericsson (as usual) is the best phone manufacturer with the worst marketing team.
after almost 8 years of owning only SE phones this is my last one
as soon as Samsung Epic 4G comes here I'll buy one
I almost made the mistake of buying an HD2 and tried of reasoning that owning a decent qwerty phone is just a dream, but i just played with the I9000 on which the Epic 4g is based and it's pure madness...it has huge frames, dwonloads torrents with 500-550 k/s it's awsome
SE u lost another stupid customer that payed 600$ on a piece a garbage nice looking plastic box with an 8mp camera that does poorer pictures than an Blackberry...
Good luck anywas with your project of seeing an X2 running at least 3 days with any lockup, making a decent picture without manually adjusting everything and more than 13-16 fps in the menus.
Kind regards all and i'm sorry i did not read throughtly all of the x2 threads before buying it !
I still have a tiny hope that one day X2 will be completely fixed. Aspen looks like an interesting phone, but one of many, while X2 has quite unique design.
Anyway I ended up ordering LG eXpo from the USA, hope it will work without problems (it should).
F*****g SE can't assign a few people on fixing X2? Damn them! One thing is when phone is not working as it should, but when a fix is planned, one can look something forward to.

I got 6,7 Mbps (800+ KB/s) with every HSDPA7.2/HSUPA I've tried in the last couple of years, and about 8Mbps (1MB/s) whit some modern handsets like the N900 or the Milestone.
So what is the awesomeness in getting 500 KBs (I suppose do you mean kilobyte/sec) in a phone released now ?
I'll be eternally grateful if you can find a registry fix for irregular text message alerts.
I suspect it has to do with power usage settings. Typically after a reset, the alerts go fine for the first few, and unfailingly fail thereafter. It will come back on upon charging the phone, without any reset. Leads me to suspect it has to do with different power management profiles kicking in, but that's quite a shot in the dark.
Good luck with the project, i hope you'll not join me and everyone else shortly as another SE hating zombie lol.
I have a few loves in my life. they are the htc hd2, Mr Kipling Apple pies, my Rover 200 coupe, and lastly Charlton Athletic Football Club.
so naturally im listening to commentry on bbc london 94.9, however the FM radio reception is AWFUL! on any other radio, the signal is much clearer.
Does anyone know a way of improving the radio? Even the old touch HD was clearer.
The radio is generally piss poor.....
Ive never been able to use it........
Somebody suggested climbing onto the roof and holding it in the air........
Im afraid I cant give you a serious answer..........
Glad to hear your team getting a good result though
they havent mentioned the norwich score have they??
edit;
oops just noticed your team arent gettin a good result.......
sorry bout that lol
You don't have much going for you, do you?
I mean, Rovers (although a tomcat lump in one is marginally acceptable) and Charlton Athletic? I'll let those slide as you like pie and the HD2.
If you have BsBTweaks installed (if you don't, give it a go, lots of goodies!) there is a "Radio De-emphasis" option, its meant to improve it.
I must admit, I don't use the radio that often, but when I have, the only grumble I have had is that it doesn't scan channels well, its easier to manual enter them. I can't say I've had that much of an issue with quality, but it might be because I've only got a crap radio to compare it to.
give me a break, im only 18!
edit: yes the tomcat lump does make it infinitally cooler. plus my god is it a good looking car! in red!

If you have a data plan, check out SPB Radio.
Plenty of great radio stations to pick up over that and better than FM reception by miles.

As far as ghost touch are concerned motorola has provided a fix at its service centres without changing the panel.Read this on the motorola forum.
I found this on Moto X Pure thread on reddit
"Thanks to one of /u/jumnhy's suggestions, I decided to put some electrical tape around and on the digitizer and lcd connections inside the phone. Anybody that finds this thread later on, it might be worth trying if you're trying to save yourself from buying an entire new display like I was."
hey hey hey fellas....atlast found something which satisfies everyone regarding ghost touch....the latest qualcomm has made severe changes inside turbo powered charger which couldn't able to stabilize the input voltage fluctuations. and that is why we all expirence ghost touch... i even checked my socket with Multimeter...hell yeah that was true....
atlast ive plugged stock moto turbo charger to the stabilizer, believe it or not i played nova 3 for exactly 44 mins beside charge was on !
so this caused ghost touch !

Tuviste que despegar el digitalizador de la pantalla? porque tengo entendido que es bastante complicado sin rin romper el lcd.
Adrián.
I found something interesting and that you might not know or imagine, but there was a time when I couldnt use my phone outdoors. Every time I tried to write my password the ghost touch appeared And all those things we face. And its related to autobright system when in places with a lot of sun interfering. When I deactivated autobrightness the problem disappeared when I tried to use the phone on the street. Dont know if its a coincidence, but you might try. Looks like the screen cant handle high brightness for a long time
It isn't related to charger only, because ghost touch is also visible when u max the brightness

I can confirm this. Originally I would only experience ghost touch when using the quick charger. However, I now experience it when the phone heats up or when I turn the brightness up - even when it is not charging. I have tried factory resets etc. but I believe it is a hardware-related issue. I will be sending it back to Lenovo asap for repairs and hopefully they can fix the issue.

Yup, on Lenovo forums mods have confirmed that the have provided service centres with a fix that would stop this without replacing the screens, I believe what they are doing is covering the digitiser with an insulating tape/film. Anyone who have got this fixed do mention his/her screen type using an app called "Dev check" on playstore, together let's fight this annoying engineering disaster [emoji23]

And here i was thinking that it was my phone only which gets this ghost touch when brightness meter is increased, when a rom is flashed, it starts in recovery damn that is a nightmare. My phone is rooted and unlocked so hesitating to visit service center, any suggestions?

If you don't wanna mess up anything then flash the stock firmware, relock the bootloader and visit the service centre. And if u wanna try out for yourself then then there's one thing I believe might work out, I haven't done this myself but I think this CAN solve the issue, try covering the digitiser with any insulating film/tape.
Again I would highly recommend you to relock the bootloader and visit service centre.
And do update your progress here, that would surely help others
