Anybody getting weird behaviour from Gboard? Like not registering glides or some keypresses? Sometimes even registering extra keypresses? It feels like my S8+'s touchscreen sensitivity goes haywire sometimes when trying to type
I don't use glide but everything else works just fine.

Some times it doesn't display the suggested words at the top. Just today when replying to a text and I press on the text area, the messages exits rather than bringing up the keyboard. Not sure if that's gboard or not. Bearable for now. I imagine it will get better rather than worse.

Just picked up my epic this weekend. Very happy so far. Unfortunately somehow my virtual keyboard is non responsive. It pops up as it should whenever entering text input mode while in profile view.... however if I try to use it as swype or hunt and peck its like I am not touching the. Screen at all. Therefore I am forced to use. The hardware keyboard for text entry.
I figure this must be operator error because the touch screen works great for everything else. Hopefully someone can give me a clue on what I did wrong..... thanks.
Mine does this alot if the screen ia dirty.

I'm having a problem with writing text messages.
When in a certain conversation, I start to type using the Hardware keyboard, and after a few words the screen just jumps up in a few stages - first I can't see the Attachment button, then the Send button semi-disappears, and then I'm in the middle of the conversation and can't see the typing window anymore.
This is driving me crazy, and worst part - it doesn't always happen! I can't understand in which situation it happens and when it doesn't.
Some more information:
Stock 2.2 firmware and stock messaging application

Urmm, when writing this message I just noticed that even if I don't type anything, the screen jumps up. meaning I just went into a conversation, put the phone aside to write this message on the forum, and came back finding the screen has jumped up the conversation instead of displaying the typing window.
I was told on another forum that this was discussed on XDA but I can't find anything, any lead would be great. thanks
It would help if you said which stock ROM you are referring to, there are several, depending on your phone sub-model, carrier, region, etc.

A Sense ROM?... Could be the HTC app... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829535
Ahhhhh I'm having the same problem! The curser jumps around randomly sometimes causing me to type random letters at differnt parts of the text. Drives me crazy!

ok yeah there's a discussion about this issue in the thread wileykat linked. thanks
From what I understand it has to do with light hitting the trackpad. This happens to me, but only in certain spots in certain rooms.
Like it always happens when I lean back in my chair at my desk, which happens to expose my phone to the ceiling fan. When the light is on is when I get the crazy scrolling which leads me to believe there's some truth in this.

It's the trackpad. Try typing that same message away from a direct light source. Pretty sure the issue will go away. Annoying
Umm, I don't get why you guys think it's the trackpad that's causing this. cause if you are currently in the writing window of the stock HTC messaging app in landscape and hardware keyboard out, try to use the trackpad to go up/down and it won't actually go up to the conversation. so why would light hitting it do that if it's not a possibility manually?
mine does this as well, i've found one particular spot in my house where it happens. pretty sure it's light hitting the pad at the right (or wrong) angles as well.

I just tried it on my phone in the stock app and the trackpad will scroll up from the text box both in landscape and portrait..

I'm noticing that at times when I'm texting with the stock swype keyboard, it will input like 10 letters for every 1 that I type in.
It seems to happen when it's near any other device like a computer.
Weird.
Anyone have this? Any fix?
I notice that when I kill the messaging app and restart it, it's fine. But such a hassle.
I'm having issues every so often, where if swiping the keyboard registers about 5 different letters randomly in the path I swipe. There is definitely something up with it. I have hard reset once. It's very random, but not just typing, sometimes when surfing reddit or Google news, swiping up or down, it starts to freak out and click on links as I scroll, aggravating as...

Sometime if I exit the stock sms messaging app while its on a conversation screen with a contact, and then re-enter it (whether it be by turning screen off and on, or jumping to and from another app), the conversation jumps to the first text message I ever sent the contact...in some cases that is days ago. I then have to scroll all the way down to see the new message they sent, or to see the most recent reply.
Did I explain this good? Anyone else have this issue?
I see it as well.

Happens to me also, if you touch the right side of the chat box you can drag the tab quickly to the last message, it's no fix but it's faster than scrolling.
Yup.. annoys the heck out of me. Almost went with a different messenger, but some of the messages that go out using Voice don't show up in different messengers, but show up in stock.
I too have this issue every once in a while. I can't figure out exactly when it occurs.
Another issue with messaging that I experience is when I am in Conversation mode, and hit the Back button, I am pushed out of the application rather than back to the list of conversations. These functionality issues are annoying but nothing root and stock messaging can't fix.
Weird.. I have not come across this problem yet.
Yea it happens to me too. Not a huge deal but it is pretty annoying.

I actually sent an email about this back-button issue to LG's R+D team earlier tonight, I'm curious if they actually respond to inquiries...If they would just be more consistent about the top-left corner of the app being a back-button, it would allll be well.

For a work around, if you just close out the keyboard and then go to enter text again, you are moved to the bottom of the conversation instead of the top.. Annoying.. but faster than scrolling IMHO.
I did not found this issue with my G2 or maybe i didnt reproduce the exact way u do.
But mine always jump to the latest sms

Yea its not a big deal...but hella annoying.
Before I completely re-flashed my phone:
Swype was basically unusable with my finger at times
Much better results with a pen
It seemed some apps handled my finger and pen better than others
Sometimes the contact would literally jump around as I swyped
Even holding down the delete key would cause some jumping around
The voice typing would only type out in GERMAN even though I am reciting in English
Limited test with native Google keyboard but even that the lines were not smooth when swyping
Both would be tough at times even when just typing letter by letter without swyping
After flash:
Much better than before but there are definitely still some remnants of this bug
Just like before, I am hoping it is not the screen because this anomaly does not affect any other app usage, like games, drawing, etc... ONLY typing text
At least the voice typing is now working properly in English
I'm inclined to say this happens the worst on Facebook and at times on the native text app on Google
Anyone have this problem before, any solutions?
Sometimes this is actually just as bad as before when using my finger... but it still does some weird actions when I use the pen. (At least the voice typing now types in English.)
Could this be a sign of damage to the screen? Any steps I can try to clear this up? FYI I am not even using any screen protector right now.
