I am attempting to root my device using Odin with the CF-Auto Root firmware. I have the latest version of Odin and CF-Auto Root for SM-G950W downloaded and installed, USB debugging turned on and, "Verify Apps Over USB" turned off. I run Odin.exe as Administrator, boot my S8 to download mode and am able to successfully add my device...
However, when I go to flash the CF-Auto Root package, it always fails after attempting to write the recovery image with error: "<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)"
I have included the full output of the Odin log below. Am I missing something? From what I understand, one must have an unlocked bootloader in order to root the S8? However, I see no option for enabling OEM unlocking in the "Developer Options" of this phone. Is this device unrootable because of an unlockable bootloader. Why would there be an Autoroot package for this device if the bootloader could not be unlocked? Any advice or insight would be appreciated!

There is no current way and it seems unlikely there will be in the near future. The SM-G950W has the Snapdragon processor. This has the currently unlockable bootloader.
Nada, need the international varients with Exynos...

This is carrier unlocking
Is this still the case is anyone managed to bootloader unlock the Canadian variant? Looking for root desperately.

I've got a soft bricked Verizon Galaxy Note 3 and I've tried just about everything I've seen on every other thread to fix it. I'm not really "new" to rooting, I've been doing on every phone I've owned since the HTC Thunderbolt (I regretted that purchase immensely).
The phone was a gift that I just received the day before yesterday, and I didn't think to check whether it came pre-loaded with the latest update that supposedly makes this type of soft brick happen.
After using Odin to try and load Root de la Vega, it gets stuck right away.
Here's the feed from Odin:

Regardless of what I'm trying to load to the device, whether it's the root file, or the "fix" files with the correct PIT and everything, it still stops at the same point. Anyone know how to fix this particular problem?
If you soft-bricked it using RdlV, why are you attempting to recover from that situation by continuing to use RdlV ("Root_de_la_Vega.tar.md5") ?
[Edit] - you mention some other files, but in a pretty vague way. Please be specific.
Flash the pure stock Odin file onto the phone and root in a different fashion (kingo or vroot).
Since you don't know which release was on the phone, neither do we, so I suppose that means you should assume you had MJE, and therefore the only stock Odin file you can flash is
ALL_N900VVRUBMJE_N900VVZWMJE_2106277_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

Please Help me if there is any possible way...
thanks.
Hello and thank you for using Q&A,
please untick Repartition in Odin and try to flash again.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
Verizon lock their bootloaders don't they?
iirc someone managed to unlock one, but not sure if the method went public
With a locked bootloader, you can not flash anything custom
Towelroot only works with older KitKat ROMs, I think pre-June 2014?
*Detection* is correct, towelroot will not work on LP firmwares. And with a locked bootloader you have zero chance of downgrading to KitKat.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 by Verizon.
It is on the 6.0.1 firmware.

I can't flash any rom or tar files.
There is a screenshot attachment with more info.
how to downgrade to kitkat

I can't root the phone because it won't let me flash a custom rom.
I also have tried flashing the rom from the micro SD but the phone says signature verification failed.
what Ota and baseband version are you on?

If you took the OTA of anything higher than OD5, you would be unable to ODIN back to NCG(KitKat). It sounds as if your device may have taken the OTA of MM....but I wouldn't be able to answer you that....as you had stated that you were on 4.4 KitKat, did you have at least SafeStrap installed? If so, try to flash the NI2 kernal via Odin to see if you can get back into SafeStrap....

first root the phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370/
then unlock the bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
then install custom recovery just google twrp download then flash using odin
then find a stock custom rooted rom and install it using twrp and make sure to download gapps also. i prefer open gapps. google open gapps for kitkat. make sure to flash both the rom and gapps at the same time in twrp ps your rom may come with the google apps make sure to check before you install gapps.

Why are you having him install TWRP and a CM ROM? No where did he mentioned that he had an "Unlocked Bootloader". He said that he was "ROOTED" on 4.4 KitKat and happened to lose root via an OTA. Which WE don't exactly know which OTA....so please, before digging him/her deeper in a hole, respectively respond with SAFE and Helpful advice....thank you

To root on lollipop you go to ok3 root thread by Jr Kruse on xda in s5 verizon forums it is a sticky
then you may be able to bootloader unlock
by also going to bootloader unlock for kk-mm by getex it is also a sticky in the s5 verizon forum on XDA
If you want to downgrade to kitkat on your s5 after upgrading to lollipop the only way you can is to go to brens123 guide I booted ncg on PB1 bootloader it is a thread in s5 verizon general forum on xda
This is only a partial downgrade you are still on PB1 bootloader
I am trying to return my Galaxy s4 SGH-1337 to the original - to unroot it. I rooted it but then the wifi didn't work. I tried to fix the wifi issue but after many hours of trying, I decided to just reinstall the original firmware. I downloaded the I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_ATT.zip, expanded it and ran it with Odin and it failed. Following is the message stream from Odin.
If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it. BTW - I can't download anything directly to the phone because wifi is not working.

Audit13,
How do I unlock the bootloader and get a more recent ROM? Thanks.
The bootloader on the i337 cannot be unlocked once it has been locked.
