I've got a soft bricked Verizon Galaxy Note 3 and I've tried just about everything I've seen on every other thread to fix it. I'm not really "new" to rooting, I've been doing on every phone I've owned since the HTC Thunderbolt (I regretted that purchase immensely).
The phone was a gift that I just received the day before yesterday, and I didn't think to check whether it came pre-loaded with the latest update that supposedly makes this type of soft brick happen.
After using Odin to try and load Root de la Vega, it gets stuck right away.
Here's the feed from Odin:

Regardless of what I'm trying to load to the device, whether it's the root file, or the "fix" files with the correct PIT and everything, it still stops at the same point. Anyone know how to fix this particular problem?
If you soft-bricked it using RdlV, why are you attempting to recover from that situation by continuing to use RdlV ("Root_de_la_Vega.tar.md5") ?
[Edit] - you mention some other files, but in a pretty vague way. Please be specific.
Flash the pure stock Odin file onto the phone and root in a different fashion (kingo or vroot).
Since you don't know which release was on the phone, neither do we, so I suppose that means you should assume you had MJE, and therefore the only stock Odin file you can flash is
ALL_N900VVRUBMJE_N900VVZWMJE_2106277_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

Hours of searching and I can't find a similar problem.
I haven't done anything to my phone in many many months and to my knowledge I was still at the MDL level, rooted. Wife picked up the phone and allowed the update....downloaded 728 MB and rebooted.
Now it will only boot to the odin screen.
I have tried reflashing the MDL tar(still had it on my computer) using odin and it fails every time and the phone screen reads "SW REV. CHECK FAILED FUSED 2 BINARY 1" The ODIN screen reads:
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..

Is this because it had already flashed some level of the new software before rebooting and now it won't let me "revert" to MDL? Do I now need to flash a newer tar?

Yes, you will have to flash MF3 (or higher).

As @jaboo stated above your need to flash MF3 or higher... it's highly advisable to use MF3 opposed to MK2 if your planning on using custom rom's. Once you get MF3 immediately root it, block the 4.3 update with Titanium Backup, install Safestrap, and flash a custom TW-based 4.2.2 rom in either a custom slot, or stock if your feeling adventurous. Must suck having lost your MDL...
I suspected the "SW REV CHECK" was a giveaway and you guys nailed it! Downloaded and flashed the MF3 tars and it worked perfectly. Thanks!
Although now that I may be able to run ROMs again, I'll look into getting my old favorite back....PACMAN!
I managed to soft brick my Galaxy S5 from AT&T and this happened when I was trying to downgrade to 4.4.2 Kitkat so that I could root it, and i have basically created a bootloop to where every time I shut it down and start it up, all I get is the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Pleases select recovery mode in Kies & try again) the only problem is that Kies isn't connecting my phone and I've tried both versions of Kies. Kies and it's processes are killed when I use odin. I can still use Download mode, but I really need to get my phone to at least boot up again. All the data was wiped so I don't care about getting it back, but I just really need some help. The Odin text that I keep getting is:

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S4 I9500 and tried to update the ROM a few days ago. ODIN crashed before completing and I am now stuck in the yellow triangle screen with " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue....."
I downloaded the stock firmware from Samsung and when I try to install i get the following message:

Also the phone has a red message in the left corner: SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE:3 BINARY:2
I have also tried with to ODIN with a PIT file and looked at various forums and tried different things however nothing seems to work. Is there anything else i can do or is my phone busted?
Why flash a 4.3? It isn't possible.
Just pick the latest version available for you phone and flash that.
You want to downgrade and that isn't possible.

Thanks! That sorted it! Downloaded the latest firmware and it worked! Had taken so long to get it sorted!:laugh::laugh:
I have a galaxy S6 Edge which you could probably tell from the model number and I recently rooted it. After realizing that my phone was very very sluggish after the root, I decided to unroot it. I have the proper stock firmware for my device downloaded on my computer (Lollipop 5.1.1) but when I tried to flash it manually through Odin I received this error:

I was surprised to find that this flash wasn't successful because I've flashed this firmware on the phone multiple times with ease. After looking around on google for quite some time, I haven't yet found a solution witch is the reason why I am writing this post. I am not sure how to fix this error and would really appreciate some help. Thanks

Make sure that you are in fact using the same carrier and model firmware as your phone.
Also maybe @Misterjunky can help

Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
Your thread will be moved to the Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum for specialized help. There are experts there who can help you out.
Good Luck! - gsstudios
Your firmware might be corrupted, try redownloading the 4.4.2 version then update it to 5.0.2. I also guess twrp method does not work on 5.x.x firmwares on tab 4
