Hi,
First let me apologize. I have tried to search the same, and maybe I am not typing in the correct search term(s). If this has already been discussed, please ignore my ignorance and accept my sincerest apologies.
I have 4 email accounts setup on my phone, 3 Gmail and 1 Exchange.
About a month ago, I have noticed that emails aren't syncing automatically. The only time I get my e-mails, is when I unlock my phone, then it seems to sync. Since it has never done this before, I assume this is not working correctly.
I have tried everything I can think of, short of a hard reset.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks.

I have set up my gmail to check for email every 2 hours. I get a pop up showing my user Id and password and connect. When I click on OK, I get an error not able to connect to the server. This problem does not persist for more than few hours. For no good reason, I will have updated email after several hours.
I am unable to send any email from my HTC Tilt2 for the above reasons. Any help?
Thank you
Have you configured smtp etc in wm and configured your account at gmail?
There is a good guide if you login at gmails website..
i started a thread about this in the general forum and at ppcgeeks not getting a lot of help though
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572157
the ppcgeeks link is on that thread. if you add to it maybe people will see that its possibly an issue and not just one phone that has a bug
did you follow these steps:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78886
Thank you for the link. But, the problem persists. It keeps asking me to verify the Id and password till I hot cancel button. But, after few hours, I see new mail. unfortunately, I can not use the account for sending the email from my phone.

yeah i did, if you check my thread i say that it worked initially but it slowly stops working and takes longer and longer between automatic updates until it bascially stops even manually updating
Gmail not working
Mine was doing something like that where it would constantly ask me to verify the password saying it was wrong. I changed the password 4 times on my computer with no luck. I gave up and created a new gmail account and it worked the first time.
I created new gmail account as well, but no luck. it will update whenever it wants to. No manual updating possible most of the times.

This work for me. Use PHM RegEdit (or another registry editor) make a back-up of your registry. And then restore the backup file and do a softreset. I have no idea why this works but it does and I've done it twice. *I know this is late but I just saw this.
i read somewhere it had to do when trying to update using WIFI. I havent tested it or checked but i was having this problem also. so annoying!
I just noticed a few days ago that GMail isn't syncing with my phone anymore. I send myself an email just to check and it never showed any notification untill I manually entered the application and updated. Of course, I'd ran this test before and it worked flawlessly. I really need this to work because I use my email a lot for work purposes.
I'm currently on CM-5.0.3.1, ERE36B. I don't really know what may have happened. Configuration to receive notifications apparently is ok. As far as I know the only thing that may have changed is the number of apps. Can there be some kind of interference between some app and GMail sync? Come on it's the Google Phone, if GMail can't work we've got a problem...
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
Go into: Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, Filter - ALL, find GMAIL and GMAIL Storage, clear data for both.
Solved! Thanks!
Hi !
Used to get these issues too on my HTC Magic (G2). Nothing wrong with my N1, but this morning, no sync (last sync seven hours ago...).
Turned everything down then restarted and it worked again.
Do you often get that? Is it a google-related issue ?
Hi all,
This is my first post here, so please bear with me. I'm running CM7 stable and tiamat 4.0.1 currently.
I'm have two main problems:
1) Gmail sync. I've tried most of the tips I've seen on this forum and others about clearing the cache, resyncing my Google account and re-installing the app. They all amount to temporary solutions as my phone just doesn't seem to sync with my Gmail account. From what I remember, wasn't there some sort of setting in either "Accounts & Sync" or the actual Gmail app itself that lets the user determine sync frequency?
2) WhatsApp push notifications. I received a message at 12:22AM and did not get a push notification until 7:22AM. I've poked around in the settings as best I could and don't see anything about sync or even push notifications beyond the basic pop-up and style settings.
Aside from Spotify, these apps are the two I use most on my phone. I've searched tirelessly for the past 2 days for a solution to this problem to no avail. Any and all help/recommendations/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No, Gmail syncs with push automatically, there is no setting to change this.
As for your problem, it could be one of two things. One, could be a bad signal or 3g outages in your area. How is your signal all day at home/work? Does this same problem happen on wifi? The second possible problem is it's just a problem with your rom/kernal. You could try flashing back to a stock from for a few days and see if it clears up the problem.
My signal has been consistent since rooting.
I haven't tested it out while on WiFi; I'll give it a look when I get to my home network, but if that's the case, is it indicative of a problem I could address that would make my Gmail sync over 3G?
And seeing as how I'm still very new to all of this, is there a specific Stock ROM/Kernel combination that you would recommend in terms of stability/reliability? I tend to get really lost and confused with all the posted ROMs.

Hello. First off let me say I have searched this forum for a thread relating to this issue and was unsuccessful so if by some means I overlooked it, I apologize for a replicate.
Anyway, I just purchased my KF yesterday and love it. However, I noticed today after turning it back on that my previous settings for email were no longer sticking. For example, I had set my email to fetch PUSH but it went back to manual. I don't know if this has something to do with the wifi or what but I'm curious so I can keep it from resetting.
*EDIT* For clarification the email account I am speaking of is my Gmail which is an IMAP server type.
Thanks for any help on this issue.
-- I plan on rooting the KF if it means I can keep my wifi from shutting down once the Fire goes into sleep.
** It seems to of been the already installed email app that was the issue. **

Nice. Well, I have no idea what is going on. I have set my email setting to PUSH and each and every time I turn off the device and then restart it, the settings go back to manual
And I even performed a factory reset. Thanks though for your reply. I hope I can get it taken care of soon. I hate nothing more than exchanges, esp. when the device itself now is top-notch...other than this email setting debacle.

Misread your post.
I have not set mine to "push."
I have 7 pop email accounts, so probably doesn't apply to your problem.
Yeah, I'm referring to my gmail (IMAP) account.
-- On a side note, however completely related to the subject, I notice my browser bookmarks don't stick either. I will delete many of the pre-loaded ones, put a few of my own, and after reboot, notice they are no longer there as well. Reverted back to all the old bookmarks (that I deleted) and none of mine.

No help here, either.
I am using Opera.
^^ no worries. Thanks for your replies anyway
Anyone else having this 'issue'?
I'm guessing you're talking about using the stock Kindle Fire email app connecting to your Gmail account?
My advice initially would be to sideload Google's apps on there and see if you have the same issues.
Failing that, I would probably do a factory reset, and start again. It shouldn't take you very long to set everything up again.
It's a weird one for sure, but then I never used the built in apps!
If you're only using gmail, I'd recommend just installing the gmail app, then using quick sync settings from the market to make it sync automatically, if that's what you want it to do.

Thanks to you both. You were both correct. It was something to do with the email client.already on this device. After using gmail app the settings stay in place perfectly after reboots. Thanks again I apprecaite your help.
hi guys,
I am having a nasty problem with Gmail's sync. oftentimes it happens that it takes a long time to get the email notifications on my s8, if i force on and off sync emails will come right away, and even then it seems is doing ONE round of syncs fine, however most of the time it does not work, this is from about a month.
i have asked twitter, created a forum on g forum here https://support.google.com/mail/thread/13312168?hl=en and i cannot seem to fix this for once and for all.
i tried to delete storage data for gmail, restarted, deleted google account, to no avail. or when you restore it, works for once then back to scratch.
do i have too many emails in my account? shall i completely delete gmail and put it back? although i might need root i think.
any help appreciated since i need emails and sometimes things are delayed for 2 hours, not great. 2 minutes i can live with, 2 hours not good.
thanks a lot,
Gabrio
i have just done all steps on https://support.google.com/mail/forum/AAAAK7un8RUWVh3ALxBeb0/?hl=en&gpf=#!topic/gmail/WVh3ALxBeb0 and it syncs once then takes again ages and is stuck.
