Backup App with data without root - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Is there a working backup solution for making a backup of my apps with data?
Like Huawei with his Huawei backup app?

Used this back when I had my G3 before I had it rooted. Requires a computer but worked good.

Tested Helium already but I can't save all apps with this...

I don't think so.
I find backing up without root, using things like Samsung Switch and/or Helium and/or Google very crappy . There are certain apps that restrict app data backup and these backup programs respect it and will not back up that data. I have not tried paid version though. I thought the only difference with free was that you had to have connected to pc

GSII_repair Tool

Hi All,
Just a quick question, is GSII_repair tool can work for Galaxy Note or not? I'm now on the Samsung Generic IMEI 004999010640000, and I need to back to my original IMEI, so I thought I could use this software.
Thanks.
Nope if no backup it doesnt work. Only way I already told you in cm9 section

Do you have a backup of your efs folder?
If not it is impossible afaik.

Thanks all for replying.
I don't have a backup of my original IMEI EFS folder.. but I now have the EFS folder with Generic Samsung IMEI. I've read that there are different methods to retrieve the original IMEI from the Generic one. One of these methods was using the GSII_repair tool for SGS2, I was wondering if I can use it for Note.
@baz77: I will check this solution. Thanks.
Another quick question, I'm planning to replace my SGN Motherboard soon from Samsung Service Center, are they will fix the IMEI as a part of replacing the Motherboard?

You believe android antivirus?? Also if you instal only via Google play its minimal chance
What antivirus do you recommend? the malware send messages in broadcast. avast and other don't detect it
My antivirus is my brain Apps in android cannot check another one Its not a windows
Best thing is Xprivacy. (Xposed module, requieres root acces)

Looking for advice please

Hi everyone,
I have a couple of questions that I hope can be answered. I live in Ireland and have just bought a brand new at&t Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A from a neighbour thats just back from the states, I am hoping that I can root it and get rid of nearly everything that they have on the phone..
Is it possible for me to root the phone and flash a standard samsung kitkat rom on it? I want all the s pen functions and want to feel like I have a normal phone and not one thats been destroyed by at&t.
Thanks in advance and hopefully I can get some pointers..
PS: I have also put this in the at&t galaxy note 3 section but it doesn't seem like anyone answers any questions over there lol
Yes as beginner I think it is possible by just flash an usual stock rom

Did your apps restore from Play Store after upgrading?

Doesn't appear mine are going to restore.
Most of mine did...about 90%.....my wife's did not...none of them. A friend of mine got 4 note 4's for himself and his family members...his restored again about 80-90%....but the other 3 didn't restore at all???? Strange

Mine restored about 90% of my apps.
Not all ?

Interesting how inconsistent the restore from the play store is. I have found it to restore most, maybe even ask, when just testing and restoring on same ROM. But a different ROM or version and all bets are of.
I too have never found it to restore data.
I use Helium Backup for that.
Backups Apps including Data and App-settings without root.
Restore on other Devices works great.

Any way to transfer apps data without root (TB etc)?

Hi all,
I want to transfer my apps data but without root, any way to do it?
I tried google backup and restore it didn't work also tried Samsung Switch and no go either. Any other way that works?
Nothing as far as I've found
Helium backup/restore?
I've not personally tried with my S7E, but it's always worked in the past.

Nothing can restore your app data without root.

Helium backup does work, I've used it to backup data from my Xperia Z2 then restore that to my S7 Edge. Worked like a charm.
Though I'm not sure it works for all apps or not, the ones I tried, sure worked. Give it a try, no harm to do so.

I beg to differ, one in particular, that is snapchat. Depending on the developer of the application if data backups are or aren't allowed. In my case not being rooted did not work.
