Any way to transfer apps data without root (TB etc)? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I want to transfer my apps data but without root, any way to do it?
I tried google backup and restore it didn't work also tried Samsung Switch and no go either. Any other way that works?

Nothing as far as I've found

Helium backup/restore?
I've not personally tried with my S7E, but it's always worked in the past.

Nothing can restore your app data without root.

Helium backup does work, I've used it to backup data from my Xperia Z2 then restore that to my S7 Edge. Worked like a charm.
Though I'm not sure it works for all apps or not, the ones I tried, sure worked. Give it a try, no harm to do so.

I beg to differ, one in particular, that is snapchat. Depending on the developer of the application if data backups are or aren't allowed. In my case not being rooted did not work.

Absolutely rooted
Have you tried to restore using it?
I don't really trust these apps (bad experience on Galaxy S4) I would rather use Terminal emulator and type proper codes, which I want to know
Sorry if this is irrelevant but why do you back up imei?

Backuping EFS partition will backup data like device specific essential information such as the IMEI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity), wireless device MAC address, baseband version, product code, system ID and NV data.
If you lose your IMEI during flashing and wiping roms, you will end up with a piece of brick incapable of making calls:crying:
Hi all
Can someone help me because my phone (g935f) imei show only 00000000000 and my s/n-code is null. Phone think it is g935fd but it is only g935f. Waranty is void and problems start when i flash custom rom and i forget take efs backup so i try to flash stock firmware but its not working and kies restore not working because it ask s/n number and i dont no it How i can solve these problems?

What rom did you flash? Serial number is on the back of the phone isnt it?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I flash renovate rom and serial number on the back of the phone is remove. I know what is my imei but i dont know how to put it in the phone. I think my imei and serial number is removed in efs folder because renovate rom use uk firmware and my phone needs nordic firmware but even if i flash nordic firmware with odin it's not solve the problem. I call samsung repair store and ask how much pay if they fix my phone and they say it's pay about 400-500€ so i try to find another solution fix that problem

After messing up my EFS partition, my wife took mine to a phone repair shop owned by an old friend of hers. He is pretty sure he can fix it. He has it today and asked that we collect it tomorrow. I have my doubts but we will see.
Okay i also must deliver My phone to phone repair store but first i need to collect money. I hope he can fix your phone.

itll cost more than $20 if they have to use a box to repair. This is why i wont root this phone.

Backing up with flashfire?

So I've been rooting and all that since the Samsung epic and I'm very competent when it comes to these things, but given this is the first phone I've ever had with a fully locked bootloader and no custom recovery, I have a few questions regarding using flashfire as a means of backing up my Rom. I'm on stock, and already rooted, my questions are:
1. Are all of the backup functions (esn, system, data, etc.) working properly for this device? I'd really like a full backup including esn for peace of mind because I intend to try echoe today.
2. What's the process to restore said backup? I'm assuming it saves to my external sd, and I just restore to stock, root, and restore the backup after I reinstall flashfire? Just want to be sure because I know if I screw something up with flashfire I can brick this thing.
It's all customizable. I use the normal backup and check Efs also. It will prompt you as to where you want to save your backup and what you want to back up. When restoring, it shows your backups and you select and restore. Yes all functions work properly

Thank you, exactly what I needed, one more question, have you tried backing up to adb? I see the option there and that would be the preferred method as it wouldn't take up space on my device and I'll still have it when I need it.

Sorry to keep asking questions, but the guide wasn't clear on one thing, when I flash the verizon rom, do I flash the verizon bootloader? Really not trying trip knox by accident.

Helium ES and some other apps don't ask or see my root

I recently rooted with cf autoroot and installed helium which asked me to connect to desktop as though it wasn't rooted. I have had no problems rooting a note 3 and tab s with helium but my note 4 has 6.01 so I'm wandering if there's an incompatibility. I then installed es file explorer and lo and behold it doesn't recognise root either.
Titanium and sold explorer have no problem so I can't see what the problem is.
I decided to see if installing supersu as system might work but this option is greyed out telling me that I has system - less root mode. I don't understand the difference and when I check the same option on my tab s and note 3 this option is available.
Can anyone help me with a workaround whilst keeping stock rom if that is indeed the reason why Helium as es don't work?

I presume you mean as root? I saw some threads in the s7 forum which suggests it works unrooted. I haven't tried that yet.
And btw es explorer works fine, I just had enable the root option.
Thanks for your reply

Even if you're not rooted will not work for you.. you will get stuck at enabling usb debugging and asks you to enable PTP mode and it never pass this step..

ok understood. Shame that the developer has abandoned this app. I tried to contact support but he doesn't answer anymore.
Maybe adb backup /restore is the solution.

Maybe it's the version of MM, I don't have the most recent one. DPH1
I am rooted on stock but as I say Helium still doesn't see root. Desktop works.
Not sure what screenshots you want but here's one of Helium ready to backup and one of my about screen.
Try starting a adb server manually,
Run adb, check and devices, run desktop or chrome helium tool.
Chrome tool definitely works on my one plus 5

Backup App with data without root

Is there a working backup solution for making a backup of my apps with data?
Like Huawei with his Huawei backup app?

Used this back when I had my G3 before I had it rooted. Requires a computer but worked good.

I don't think so.
I find backing up without root, using things like Samsung Switch and/or Helium and/or Google very crappy . There are certain apps that restrict app data backup and these backup programs respect it and will not back up that data. I have not tried paid version though. I thought the only difference with free was that you had to have connected to pc

how to do incremental backups?

hello,
Smart Switch does full backups only (i.e., each time it will copy all phone contents)
how can we copy just what's new, since the latest backup? it will save a lot of time and space.
kind regards,
Aldo
Anybody able to help?
Any alternative to Samsung Smart Switch, for doing incremental backups?
I don’t find smart switch does a full backup. It’s supposed to, but I’ve lost a few items each time I’ve ever used it
