Hi All,
Just a quick question, is GSII_repair tool can work for Galaxy Note or not? I'm now on the Samsung Generic IMEI 004999010640000, and I need to back to my original IMEI, so I thought I could use this software.
Thanks.
Nope if no backup it doesnt work. Only way I already told you in cm9 section

Thanks all for replying.
I don't have a backup of my original IMEI EFS folder.. but I now have the EFS folder with Generic Samsung IMEI. I've read that there are different methods to retrieve the original IMEI from the Generic one. One of these methods was using the GSII_repair tool for SGS2, I was wondering if I can use it for Note.
@baz77: I will check this solution. Thanks.
Another quick question, I'm planning to replace my SGN Motherboard soon from Samsung Service Center, are they will fix the IMEI as a part of replacing the Motherboard?

I created a tool a while back for Galaxy S II owners to backup and restore the '/efs' partition and perform basic NV Repair on their devices.
This proved so popular that I recently updated the application which now includes a feature to automatically detect the mount point of the '/efs' partition. This allows any supported device to be used with EFS Pro and also adds support for future devices.

I keep getting an "Installation Aborted" message. I tried on the internal and external SD cards and toggled the signature verification but still get the same. What could cause this?

Got a question for ya : lyriquidperfection
If you check out this picture its of the root of my EFS folder on my International SG3.
Now before i used your program i flashed a custom rom and made the backup with that as i didnt know about your program when i rooted to use it first before flashing custom.
Now in the root of my efs folder can you tell me what files i can delete in there as there are a lot of files that where probably put there by custom rom.
i just want to know what a stock efs folder looks like so i know what files to keep and what to delete.
cheers.

Hi mate, I own a GS2 and I know the efs folder layout is quite different on the GS3. You could try asking the guys in the GS3 forums to shed some light but I would say as long as you have a working efs folder and its been backed up then you will be fine.

does USB Debugging have to be enabled?
EDIT: NVM, ran the program and saw that it has to be. Should maybe post this in your thread since I didn't want to start the app without knowing if it must be enabled, and the app only tells you after you start it Vicious cycle.

Hey.. Got a question on this.. If we have an unlocked G3..do we need to do this?
In that what service would it provide?
Understanding it backs up an important partition incase of corruption.. But if you are not locked into a carrier then is it necessary to keep a backup of this information..?
I think I have the answer.. thanks to Mskip..
Q. Why do I need to back up my IMEI/EFS and how do I do it?
There well protected section of your device that is virtually immune to any kind of flashing and manipulation (unless of course you know how to access it). This part of the device contains information such as IMEI (or MEID and ESN in the case of CDMA devices), programming parameters for the device such as your account information (phone number, etc), data provisioning parameters, and a whole bunch of other things that, when not handled properly, can render a device completely useless. All of these are contained in the infamous \EFS folder. If anything messes with your EFS folder, unlike flashing a device (which could potentially lead to bricks as well) it could render your device completely useless as it will no longer be recognized by your carrier. If you are not planning on flashing anything to your device and want to stay on pure Stock then you may never have any problems but it is still advisable to backup this information just in case (better to be safe than sorry). If you have a GT-I9300 GSM Model then you can do this from the Toolkit but if you have an LTE device then it isn't soo easy to do. If you have an LTE device you should go to *THIS* thread by lyriquidperfection and follow the information to save your IMEI/NV Data so that you are covered if anything should happen.

Hello,
i would be grateful to you if you could help me out..
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500
I was trying to unlock it and while doing so ... i lost my imei...
i do have a back up of the original EFS folder ...
Please help me with a step by step procedure to get my original IMEI back !
Thanks
It'll depend on what you used to make the backup with. Do you remember what you used or did you do it manually in adb?

Looking for something to backup my IMEI on my i9505 (SPH-L720T, Sprint version).
I tried one tool that was supposed to work with the i9505 (this one), but it came up with a compatibility error. Any thoughts?
Hi,
EFS Professional should work for IMEI/EFS backup.

Absolutely rooted
Have you tried to restore using it?
I don't really trust these apps (bad experience on Galaxy S4) I would rather use Terminal emulator and type proper codes, which I want to know
Sorry if this is irrelevant but why do you back up imei?

Backuping EFS partition will backup data like device specific essential information such as the IMEI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity), wireless device MAC address, baseband version, product code, system ID and NV data.
If you lose your IMEI during flashing and wiping roms, you will end up with a piece of brick incapable of making calls:crying:
Hi all
Can someone help me because my phone (g935f) imei show only 00000000000 and my s/n-code is null. Phone think it is g935fd but it is only g935f. What rom did you flash? Serial number is on the back of the phone isnt it?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I flash renovate rom and serial number on the back of the phone is remove. I know what is my imei but i dont know how to put it in the phone. I think my imei and serial number is removed in efs folder because renovate rom use uk firmware and my phone needs nordic firmware but even if i flash nordic firmware with odin it's not solve the problem. I call samsung repair store and ask how much pay if they fix my phone and they say it's pay about 400-500€ so i try to find another solution fix that problem

After messing up my EFS partition, my wife took mine to a phone repair shop owned by an old friend of hers. He is pretty sure he can fix it. He has it today and asked that we collect it tomorrow. I have my doubts but we will see.
Okay i also must deliver My phone to phone repair store but first i need to collect money. I hope he can fix your phone.

I don't think so.
I find backing up without root, using things like Samsung Switch and/or Helium and/or Google very crappy . There are certain apps that restrict app data backup and these backup programs respect it and will not back up that data. I have not tried paid version though. I thought the only difference with free was that you had to have connected to pc
