Hello,
I use my tablet at work, and sometimes i need to lock the tab when one ventures into another office for a while, and i am wondering whether the tablet is safe from people trying to get at its files?. Basically i saw the S2 problem with the lock screen, and it could easily be opened and that the lock screen should have an "immediate" timeout, i was wondering if this is necessary as i have a "5 seconds" timeout. Also is one able to get access to the tab via usb, eventhough debugging mode is disabled?

Whether 5 seconds is suitable or not is your decision. As for USB, the device won't appear on your computer unless you unlock it first.
Regarding the security hole on the galaxy S2, where you could bypass the lock screen by waiting out the timeout, and the only fix was to set it to "immediate", is this problem also inherent on the galaxy tab?

I don't think so...
USB debugging is accessible while the device is in the recovery mode, so the lock screen won't stop anyone from getting at the files if they know what they are doing.
Surely if the device is encrypted, and the device is in recovery mode, you wont be able to get to the files?.. My concern is if one steps away from the tab and its locked, is there a way to bypass the lock screen?, i have searched all over google, and cant seem to find anything that says one can bypass the honeycomb lock screen. I know the S2 had a flaw that you could
Hey Reader ! My Nexus 4 is unresponsive from the bottom light to about 2-3 inches up from the screen & I Accidentally put a pin on the phone. I Remember my pin for sure , but I Cannot hit Enter because of the unresponsive area . I Was able to get to the factory settings however I Cannot Confirm the Factory Reset ! Is there any possible way to Reset it by Computer ? I'm trying anything at all costs not o have to buy a new phone when mines is still usable ! PLEASE Help ! All Ideas Are welcome !
Information about which ROM you're using would be helpful. On custom ROMs you have to option to enable 180° rotation; you'd basically use your phone upside down, which should allow you to avoid the unresponsive area. In fact you can turn on all angles rotation and just tilt your phone around to avoid the unresponsive area. This is for custom ROMs, I'm not sure about stock.
If you are however on stock, it is worth to try turning on rotation and just rotate it landscape. If that's successful, you might want to just disable the pin instead of wiping the whole device.
Hi guys I am in crisis of sorts. My home button stopped working yesterday on my Note 4 (bought in December through Verizon). This would be annoying enough, but it seems that the contact may be somehow stuck. While my screen is locked, almost every ten to twenty seconds it seems that my swipe screen appears. Also it seems that the phone itself is heating up or working harder with a significant battery drain. I can boot into recovery, so I assume that it still works to some degree.
*I have tried rebooting into recovery and erasing the cache.
*I have tried factory reset.
*I have wiped the area with alcohol rapidly in an attempt to clear any dust that may be causing this fiasco.
*I have even removed all 16 screws and separated the phone, freeing up the home button area to get a better target for my canned air.
None of this has worked and it is driving me nuts. I am working all weekend with 12 to 16 hour days and roll right into traveling on Monday for a week long training in the middle of BFE... I cannot think of a more horrible time for my phone to take a dive.
I tried to use the search function and have scoured the internet for people that have had this problem with the Note 4, and it seems that I am unique.
Can anyone PLEASE help me with some suggestions or some insight?
Thank you so much in advance,
David
replace phone under warranty.
Hello all,
My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910C) is about 18 months old, has worked fine since purchased new. It is running OS 6.0.1
All of a sudden it seems to have developed a fault whereby the bottom most part of the screen is not responding well to touch. This is the bottom part of the screen only, all else seems to work fine.
I hadn't performed any updates or OS updates and it is the default OS, non rooted.
I have tried *#2663# and pressed the 'Touch key FW update' but nothing has happened. I also ran *#0*# and on 'Touch', I can verify that the touch along the bottom part of the screen doesn't register properly.
Hasn't been dropped or anything like that, just started happening.
Is a factory default likely to help fix this? I'm reluctant to do it if it isn't going to help at all and is more a hardware fault.
I took it to Samsung and they were very unhelpful and it is now out of warranty. I just wondered if there was anything I could try before I get a new phone?
Thanks in advance.
I'd try performing a hard factory reset but clear the cache in the Recovery Menu first. As that would probably help if it is indeed a software problem.
I bought a Galaxy Tab E on the cheap (legally). I don't know the owner nor will I, but FWIW I can at least prove legal ownership of the tablet. Problem is that I wiped it via the bootloader and now am faced with FRP doing its thing.
Some tutorials involved turning on voice mode by holding down two fingers, then drawing an L on the screen to invoke assistive mode settings, and a few other steps after that to be able to browse to google and continue through circumventing FRP. Drawing the L does nothing, so I'm kinda at a loss.
Is there some way to reliably bypass FRP if the draw-an-L trick doesn't work?
