This is why mate 8 is not in development READ - Mate 8 General

This is why sr developers give up on mate 8. People like this
force development downloads when there is 15 other testers involved ? Pretty sick , Mr Lalsin s thread has been closed on my own behalf. Perhaps its time to go back to samsung and get a job there. Lol.

Pretty sad.

So he thought he could bully you to release something?
What kind of authority does he have to say that your thread would be closed within one day if you didn't comply?
Really douchy move either way from that person. I can understand the desire to get fast development and ask for ETA (I know it is against the rules) but there are nice/respectful ways to ask without the need to be a d*ck about it.
Keep your spirit up @c|nder

I released Mr Lalsins B369 in oct and was destroyed by these ideots. Turned out Mr Lalsin's Vip368-9 crossed with Kalifornia Kenneths Sound mod out benchmarked all Emui 4.1 and now it sits on my harddrive as a waste. thanks dude , more to come from development even if I have to open my own website with HRT

We do not allow placeholder threads on XDA. This issue here is not due to moderators forcing people into releasing anything. Feel free to release whenever you want, we only ask that you open the thread though when you are ready to release. This is due to the fact otherwise we end up with users everywhere asking for ETAs and threads without any constructive/active development just taking up space in the forum.
Please do not take this as a sign that you should not develop or release anything. For the mean time I am closing this thread.

Matt

mods closing threads wtf?

Wtf is up with all these moderators closing threads?? first it was hero_over now noobnl? if we want to donate to help increase production on development for our device whats the problem? I used to think this place was pretty chill but lately its been a bunch of bs and there honestly you mods just slowing down dev. for our device by closing threads and pissing the developers off. The devs should have every right to put there donations link up here to get paid for there countless hours of hard work just like XDA does since if it wasn't for the devs you wouldn't get half the traffic you do right? So i would think the least you all could do is let them all post there donation links since again no one forcing them to donate.
And if you guys keep it up your just gonna lose your awesome development community that everyone comes here for and hopefully we will all migrate to a much better forum where this bs isn't a problem.

Well, I am not a MOD here, but I can not at all agree with you thinking the threads are being closed because of donation links. It has been my understanding that donation links it itself are fine to ROMS/Kernals that are not vaporware.
There has been quite alot of "coming soon [insert kicks ass rom name here]" then ask for a donation.--- That is not tolerated, and shouldn't be.
There has also been alot of "coming soon [insert kicks ass rom name here]" but if you donate you can download it from my site over here, and when I feel like it I will post it here for the masses-- Using XDA as an advertising forum. -- Again more threads in the dev section offering nothing but a place holder.
I think the point is "put up, or shut up" we do not need to scour threads in the dev section that do not contain any dev material.
In addition, this thread will be the next target as it is not offering anything but constructive critisism (which I cannot flash to my epic) and makes for yet an even more poor dev section.
There is a general forum for a reason, I usually do not post but felt compelled to share my views on your thoughts.
-cheers
I agree. The point of closing those threads is simply to make this forum a better place to get what you need in the term of DEVELOPMENT/ROMS/etc. This isn't a place to advertise your "Donateware" ROM, or to have tons of Coming Soon threads. Get a beta our or something, release it, and post a thread.
Now I do agree in Coming Soon threads if its only a day or two out. Hell, it builds hype, and gives people something to look forward to. But if you are going to post a "Coming Soon" Thread and wait 2+ weeks before you even release anything, then it needs to be closed.
Anyway, please look into everything before you make such bold assumptions.

+1. I completely agree. I hate that idea. I mean, yes, these people put a lot of effort into their ROMs, and yes, they should get compensation, but it should not be mandatory, and it should not affect when you get ROM. Pimp your donations or site as much as you want, but the strength of this forum, and many others like it, is the free and open source nature of the projects on it. I would hate to see all that fall apart because of some people trying to take advantage of users. I completely agree with the Mods on this one.
Most people donate from the heart without being asked to do it and thats the way it should be.I owned Behold 2 and MyTouch Slide 3GS,both forums have excellent developers and never once did i see "Coming Soon" or "Go to my site to donate" thread. But every time developer bricked his phone you better believe everybody donated within a day to get them a new phone, and they never asked for donations-people did it cuz we loved the work they put it.Plus 90% of developers make roms for fun and not for money, but they should get donations because they brick alot of phones, lol.
I have to agree with just about everything said here after the OP.
Plus, check facts before ranting. According to Toast (the Mod in question), the changes to Herver's thread were made at Herver's request.
I find it hard to fault moderators for doing (a) exactly what they say they will in the forum rules, and (b) exactly what a thread starter asks of them.
I am not a developer, and maybe I would feel differently if I were, but XDA is supposed to be about community development and not marketing/sales.

You're an idiot.
1st post, welcome to the forums. haha
To the OP,
The answer to your questions can be found here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81, in particular, items 8 and 11.
You might also want to read these rules in their entirety so you fully understand them.
I am moving this to General, where it should have been correctly posted, and closing this. if you have any further questions on the moderation of this site then please do not hesitate to contact any member of the moderating team.

Do not post links to synergy or other closed testing nighties!!!

I have gotten multiple requests from a few devs in the past week, including myn to delete links to their mirrors posted by users. Today, I had to delete a full thread about these. Stop posting links to said nighties. Devs will release the rom when it is ready to be called "beta". The reason they have not opened a new thread about this is because some people perceive the threads like this as "feelers" or with the sole purpose to draw donations, which is by no means the intention of the devs.
This is a final warning about this.
Right on man the devs work there ass off and are always working on something new and fixing problems sucks when people on here jack there links and post them all over here and then take credit for it Happy you did something about it.
It is crap that people feel the need to do things like that. Personally, I don't mess with "nightlies" unless it says AOSP. Stoked about Myn's next release though.
I agree 100%. Glad to see swift action from the XDA Admins / Mods.
Question - Should all links of the new ROMs be off limits, including changelogs and such? For instance, I noticed a link in the Warm 2.2 thread for the changelog for Myn's Synergy ROM.

Changelogs for this rom can also be found in infectedrom as well afaik. If the link to the changelog has any way to link back to a mirror or a link to obtain the rom, then I would say it should be off limits. Please link me to the post in question if you can (myn's 2.2 thread is only a gazillion pages long and I don't have all eternity to look for it )
ehh, I think the issues is people don't understand that these rom's are for the experienced user. The Synergy is not released publicly yet because their is a risk some idiot will bork, brick, ruin their phone. also if you want it so badly go to the irc channel that's your best bet for getting the latest and most proper version some user's could think they're fixing something and share it on the forum and next thing you know 20+ dead device's
/end input and rant.

great point man.
Although I agree with their general intentions, some developers have not been acknowledging or giving access to the nightly builds even for those who have donated. It's been almost a week since I donated to a developer and have yet to even get an acknowledgement, let alone access to any nighties, and I've seen posts from others who are in the same situation. I know donating does not automatically grant access to the nighties, but I think the developers should also be more forthcoming to those who donated to them.

My point exactly. You don't donate to a dev and get automatic access to nighties. You donate because you feel like giving someone something for their hard work and should expect nothing in return. If the dev so happens to grant access in lieu of donations so be it, all the better for you. However, if a dev did post something along the lines of "donators will receive access to nightly builds and early releases", then that is where we would have to step in, as that is considered selling "money for a good or service". Sorry but if you donated, you donated and that is the end of it.

I think we need more moderator here in the EVO 4G Forum area, because every single Development thread, you can only see people *****ing about the same thing that is already posted, PEOPLE here Don't READ even when your are installing something in your phone that can Break it. ( If you go to a Leak ROM thread, it is clear that you cannot install thoose type of ROMs, and people always are asking that they are having issues installing the ROM, LOL)
If you go to General you can see like 10 thread of the Same Thing, In the Evo 3d Area you can see like 8 topics of Release date, 4 of Root, etc, etc.
My opinion is that we need more moderators in the Forum, The XDA community everyday is becoming bigger, so you need to take that in mind.

Google is your best friend. That's all I gotta say. *Hint*
Ya alot of flame wars going on. Sad people were stealin links and posting the devs hard work and claming it theres. Glad the ADMIN stopped it.
If you've made it a rule to close threads involving the posting of links to nightlies at least somewhere on the site there could be link to the rom!
There is a link posted. Goto the Incredible section and get it there.

Oo oo I know
This happens in every phone forum on this site. I have been on xda (as a user only) since the g1. I think it is good that the devs leave this site. Xda is only the first step for a new dev. Since the mods do not understand the term "development". Your everyday user should not be able to post in a dev thread. That is why we have a general forum. The Dev thread is for developers to talk to other developers to make a better product. It is not a place for users to complain and bad mouth developers, all that does out make them leave. Maybe one day xda will realize that.....cyanogen started on xda....he had his own site now....I wonder why.....lol

And without developers say goodbye to your advertising sponsorship. Slippery slope guys.
Remember, this is just a Web forum, nothing more and nothing less.
Maybe a revaluation of your perceived value of importance is known order.
It's just a real shame that the best devs keep leaving, and always for similar reasons. Biting the hand that feeds is never smart.

Did people get butthurt over some ROMs not working or something? I'm confused, I would expect the devs to encourage bug testing and criticism...

I don't know exactly what happened, but it wasn't something that an average user did. Brick'd was a fun guy. One of the mods decided to close the thread for a reason that I do not know, and brick'd wanted to say goodbye.
oka1 should be the only mod for our forum, he actually gets us + hes pretty damn cool. even though i have like 70 infractions from him from a year ago haha
Judging from Br1ckd's post in Zen I think something happened to another on the DD team. My guess is it was Dan but not sure. The mod in our tablet forum can go on power trips. Because Br1ckd is a Recognized Developer he has the power to lock/unlock his own thread.
Pretty sure it was an all for 1, 1 for all type thing. He's in a better place now. So lets not mourn his loss but rejoice in his new beginning. Hey, it's almost Easter and Padre Wood is done with his sermon.
Woodrube is on point. I pulled my stuff, closed my threads, and stopped hosting on xda due to something that happened in the sgs2 forums between a trusted friend and DD member, and an overzealous, aggro moderator. As well, the same DD member has also been receiving harassing pm's that the mods didn't seem to want to help with.
I've spoken with Oka1 about my decision and the facts surrounding it, and thanked him heavily for his part in cleaning up the Vibrant forum in recent months. He really has had a big hand in bringing this particular subforum to where it is now.
I harbor no ill will towards anyone over here and I still check in from time to time. However, I also stand by those who stand by me. When my boy had enough of the BS, it was obviously time for a change, and as a new team, we showed great unity in unanimously voting to move.
Hope this sets the record a bit more straight. Feel free y'all, to pop by and say hi sometime, sit a spell, and visit some old friends, and some new ones.

I Like all the guys in this forum, and this forum's Devs have been Stellar and worked together to keep things even and fair, properly giving credit to those who deserve. AS to the other forums I really do not know what happened, but I do know the SGS2 forums is a pretty tough bunch. So, it is understandable that some devs would get tired of the rowdiness..... That's unfortunate. I will strive to talk to the superiors about this incident so XDA can learn from it and make this forum a more conducive environment for all......
Thanks to all in this forum for being the good participants you are ........ ~~~ oka1

They just need to have a better "recognized developer" system. that way ONLY developers can post in dev section, and they have an available option to enable/disable posting in their thread - leave discussion threads for the general section. as long as the moderators cleaned up the general section once a day, making sure there is only one discussion thread per rom - it would be a flawless system
I think the more annoying thing is how people can theme a ROM, add a couple apks, along with some build.prop/ram tweaks, and then post it in the dev section as a new ROM. that drives me mad, and then the noobs encourage this behavior (because they dont know any better) by saying "why complain about having more options??", and by calling these members "developers" - release it under themes/apps, not development
^^the end result of this is a cluttered development section with multiple versions of the same ROM - all of them having poor explanations - so you dont know which ROMS are legit enough to monitor because they all have the same damn features listed

Stop eta and noob questions!!

First of all I would like to say thank you to all the dev's which has been working day and night to make our Note a better device
I rarely post anything but I always follow all the threads in the dev's forum. And I find it really annoying when people can't wait for the dev's to submit a new version, they always ask ETA and never even bother if the dev has a life or no. They always think that dev's are a lifeless person who sits down in front of their workstations day and night working on the ROM. Can't u guys wait!!!
The dev's here are making those ROM's for free and they DO have a life.
First my favourite dev franco left, now eybee left. If u guys keep asking for ETA and also noob questions then I am not shock if one day every dev left and nobody is willing to develop a ROM for our device.
We have a Q&A SECTION in our forum you guys can ask your questions there and afterwards ask the MODs to close them up.
Please people stop asking for ETA and noob question's in the dev forum!!!! I beg you.
No offence to the Moderators, I know its hard for you to keep deleting those stupid post on each and every thread.

a good example would probably be the dev that left yesterday or the day before and had their thread closed over pretty much this same thing.....
the sense of entitlement has gotten way out of hand.... and the lack of appreciation...
Looks more to me like XDA is a victim of it's own success, and of the success of smartphones in general over the last 2 years. This is no longer a pure dev-forum.
There are 10 devs for every 10.000 yelling noobs. Who would'nt start pulling out their hair ? And if you try to educate them, you get yelled at, for flaming them lol.
Maybe Xda should reconsider their setup, and allow dev-threads where the dev can add or revoke users the right to post in HIS thread.
that's my 5 cents on the subject.
You cannot fight 9999999999999 noobs anyway, so better ignore them, or leave.
Amen !!
It would be nice to see some new rules and systems put in place. Too many good Devs are leaving and its a real shame, Over the years I must have seen over 15 great (and I mean great) Devs leave cause of high demand and even higher level of stress, As a result of this.
If there was some system that would let the OP remove certain comments, Or block a user from posting for X amount of days due to demanding / flaming etc then this could make a big difference.
Obviously there are flaws in my method, As the OP could block everyone and remove every post, But im sure as a community we can all discuss a way of improving this situation, So that it works effectively and in favor of the Dev first, Then the user secondly.
Or maybe just increase the amounts of post required to post in the Dev section, Or completely remove the ability for everyone to post in the Dev section, The only posts allowed will be the OP of the thread, To add / remove download links / changelogs etc etc.
We can have a seperate thread for bug reporting AND BUG REPORTING ONLY !
There's got to be a way of making this better ?? C'mon guys share some opinions and hopefully make some changes.
...and you forgot mr g.levarne, he also suffers from the same disease, it is a very sad situation
i wanted to add a little of my philosophy here, but i will be totally useless, questions about ETA will continue to exist

IMO, the problem is the repeating questions that repeatedly answered, im also a new here but very often to post i just read the whole thread or used the search button.. my suggestion is to delete the unecessary post or repeatedly post by the thread owner

I lurk here on XDA for a long time and agreed that the number of noobs wanting candy has been really overwhelming. I basically just come to see discussion and to wait for my favorite developer to update their ROM and if there is no such update I just sit tight and wait. Why can't everyone else do the same?
We need more common sense and a little revision for the noob video I think. If you can't think to consider yours and others position and feelings during a discussion just shut up and wait.
It's a great loss to the community if at the end every devs feels uncomfortable in this forum.

Just read your questions and posts.......

And you forgot to mention the hoards of personal messages that developers get. Sure we can block messaging altogether, but that also means closing doors to a genuine discussion.
The moment a developer updates a build - 200 questions are whether one needs to wipe before flashing or not , 300 questions are whether an unreleased Android feature would work or not (e.g - 4.2), and the other 500 questions are variations of the prior two.
Deva should be able to wipe the garbage. Sometimes I've to go thru 40 pole telling me they are flashing....?,or their DL has taken a week to find what I need. Let them wipe it all.

Maybe the solution is a read/post ratio lol. for every 2000 posts read, you may post 3
Its like with most things...
Once it gets to popular, it gets ruined, the average human being is a complete piece if garbage this is the natural order of things

banning system should be more strict.
its the devs that need to be cared and protect not some noobs...
they are the one that spicy things up in xda..
banning should help

Issues on the Moto G (2014) XDA section

I'm a senior member of this forum. I'm 51 years old. I always used this forum for the several devices I own(ed) with great pleasure ever since I joined XDA.
This is the first time I start a thread because I need to say this!
My latest phone: the Moto G (2014), XT1068, is a great phone.
Unfortunately I can't say so about the XDA section here!
First of all there's very littlte development here. Understandable, because it's a relatively new device.
But now to my point: people here are starting threads for the most silly reasons and this morning I read a thread that almost made me leave this section and triggered me to make this thread.
I don't know what kind of people buy this device and then sign up for XDA, but I see a lot of 'unprofessional' posting. A lot of new people who obviously don't have any experience in flashing roms, kernels, recoveries, etc. Nor do they have much experience on this forum! A lot of people seem to have only signed up to know when a Lollipop update wil be there and how to get it! I'm afraid many people are just teenagers here...
I miss the threads with Orginal Developed roms, with questions and logcats to improve a rom. I miss Cyanogenmod, and all the other general roms...
Furthermore, I don't have anything against people of India. On the contrary, one of the best roms here is from an Indian: Pyr0_Bl4de with his Andro-X! But you Indians dominate the threads, not only here on XDA, but also on the Motorola Owners Forum with just asking for ETA's of Lollipop. Many people (and not only Indians) don't read and search first. They just post a question that has already been answered before.
I'm always willing to help, if I can. But somehow my patience has come to an end.
Possibly this thread wil be closed soon too. It doesn't directly contribute to the development here. But I wanted to have it said anyway.
Sorry in advance if I offended people!

"Praise Jah" YOU people..
I couldn't agree more and am probably going to sell my phone for these very reasons. Thank you for saying it out loud.
Agreed, had many phones in the past, never seen such a boring section as this, multiple threads closed down because of stupid lollipop questions, imagine how motorola must feel with the amount of owners asking about LP all the time, I want the update like most of us, but come on people, get some sleep, go out and enjoy the fresh air doing walking, sports or family things and get on with your lives.
In the process of waiting for a new phone to arrive, as much as I like the dual sim on this phone, redraws, memory problems, screen touch problems are starting to get too annoying and I think it's nearing the time to say goodbye to the moto g 2014, sadly., but I will not be loosing any sleep over it.

That's exactly why I made this thread. Forums are a mess, so I tried to put it all together in a single thread so people wouldn't get lost with all this Lollipop frenzy...

To be honest, I did report several posts and threads. Most of them where closed after me complaining... But I'm always reluctant to say I reported, because I don't want to be flamed for it....
I'm not a senior member and I get a lot out of this section for our great phone, with advice and tips here I've improved it considerably from stock. I've also owned other devices and XDA is a great resource for those and will be for the Moto G 2014 in due course. Patience is the key, more development will come in time, although a couple of non stock kernels and at least one ROM are already here. Enough for me to be pleased about so far.
I don't pay to attention to the kind of threads you allude to, so am happy to ignore them, it takes all sorts to create an active forum, though gw's immature outburst earlier today was classic and earned him the temporary suspension deserved, we shouldn't let posters like that spoil XDA and derail the section. The thread title is usually enough for me to know if its worth opening.
I like this place.

I am an indian, and a senior member of xda. Ported few roms for Galaxy fit as well. But i am also annoyed with ETA for lollipop kind of questions by naive users. Good Luck for Moto G(2014)

Thank you for this post. Unfortunately I already used my 8 thanks today.
To be clear: I still like XDA! There are several very useful threads, and very good how to's! Maybe I have to learn how to ignore the 'bad' threads. Bus as they say here in Holland: sometimes I can't see the forest anymore because of all the trees...

If you thought that was bad, take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2942803
(Same OP)
The lack of any significant project work for the XT106x is easily accounted for -- an update to the next major revision is due OTA. No-one who is seriously considering working on this device is going to bother until then. And even then, it is best to wait for Motorola to publish the kernel sources.
I don't really understand the fuss about CM on the Moto G anyway. The stock environment is close enough to vanilla that I would be happy to apply Xposed (assuming it will eventually be rewritten for ART and the new framework), build a kernel with a few extra modules and useful patches, and then cook up a zip with half the gapps and motorola software removed... Job done.
It seems like 5.0 still has a few significant bugs to squash before Motorola are happy to roll it out. I'm glad they're taking a more cautious approach, rather than pandering to impatient and self-entitled kids.
I have been a member for nearly 10 years now, when XDA was a very small site dedicated to the XDA PDAs and phones back then. During this time I have seen the site grow into an extremely useful support and development forum for professionals and enthusiasts.
But now I am witnessing a slow decline in those people and a rapid increase in members who contribute nothing and complain when they don't get immediate help and don't thank you when you do give them that help. There are more and more vile trolls who stir up the community too. It's disheartening .
I am not a developer and I still see development as a black art which I would love to be a.part of. But over the years I have offered my help to those in need and spent many hours working through something technical in order to do that. Often as I said with no thanks.
I am not sure what we can do about the influx of those that spoil it for the rest of us. But I am not going to give up being a community spirited contributor to these forums and I hope you guys don't either.

For the most I totally agree with you! Still, for the past few years CM was my rom. So I was accustomed to it. It never ever crossed my mind when I bought this device, that there wouldn't be a CM for it... Call it naive, it probably is!
To make things clear: I'd prefer CM11 over stock lollipop! Even when this lollipop it's very vanilla and AOSP
Whatever, most likely there will be a CM12 in the (near?) future.
Guess I have to learn to be patient too...
@smitharro It is a sign of these times. People do not read. Do not give anything from each other. They think that it's okay to start hundredth thread on the same topic.
I'm on xda since 2008. My first phone call, because of which I set up an account here,is the HTC Wizard. I knew then that I was a noob, so I've read. I read everything possible,to not ask stupid questions, to find answers, to learn something.
People do not read and do not care about others.
Now I think that ignorance requires napalm and a bulldozer.
@rufflove i will always prefer cm over vanila aosp or stock mototrola....cm is way better than anything else out there...
and yes i am a member since 2008 ...and i used use my htc at & t 8525 hermes phone( ya that phone still working and i sometimes use it as my 3g modem).
That time xda used to be a site for windows mobile enthusiasts. (xda is name of windows mobile pda)
Now the members grown to enormous amount....
Still i think xda is the best site around to get help ...

Since my old was 5830i Galaxy Ace , i was happy with that forum it was because half of the forum was controlled by us ( RC's ) , no one was a big noob like don't know anything , even that person doesn't know anything but posting in right section helps him . In these forum when i came to see , my first observation was it is totally messed up with many new to ( ANDROID ) users get my point (ANdroid ) due to that , that members post anything what ever they think & just post .
To control these 1 . Take all over unread thread to be read and understood , then a genuine reply . ( it will take too long time not easy )
2. Or just simply reading there OP & hit report button .
3. Or just ignore them & simply watch .
I understood your thoughts , but what can we do 1 or 2 people against the whole bunch of million people so just time is a key wait for a while & we will be on track . Let they get little bit matured & understand what is XDA .
Thank You

Funny! My daughter owned a 5830i once. It came to CM 9 quite stable! Then she dropped it on a rock while riding a horse. The phone rests in peace...
