I have the A2017G model and recently updated it to Nougat 7.0 via the official update file from ZTE Germany. I had this issue from day one.
After pretty much any phone call, I have no signal (not during the call, only after) and I have to wait 2-3 minutes before it gets restored. Sometimes I have to turn airplane mode on and off or even restart the phone (the latter only a few times)
I tried changing the settings and selecting my network manually but nothing helps. I didn't have these issues with my previous phones with the same SIM. Any ideas?

Hello,
I have the Sony Z2 on Tmobile USA, completely stock (no ROMs, or modifications).
Approximately twice a day, my Z2 randomly stops receiving calls, making calls, and accessing the mobile internet. It still shows plenty of "bars" on the reception meter, thus I have no idea that I'm not receiving calls.
When it happens, this can only be resolved with a restart, or turning on Airplane Mode, then turning it off again. The problem will usually come back within 6 hours, requiring another restart cycle.
If I have WiFi enabled when this is occurring, then I can still access the internet via WiFi, but I will not get calls and text messages. I get no indication anything is wrong, until I try to place a call and it fails.
When this happens, the "Signal Strength" meter (under "About Phone", "Status") does not change, it would read something like -95 dBm no matter where I would take the phone (even in areas of poor coverage). It appears the phone simply looses synchronization with the mobile network, but doesn't notify the user. Other phones on the same mobile carrier continue to work perfectly at the same place, so it's not a mobile carrier issue.
I've had this phone for 8 months, and this is a new phenomenon.
This is Z2 model D6503 and I am on the latest firmware (Android 4.4.4, build 23.0.1.A.0.167). Sony support said "reset the entire phone", of course.
Please share any thoughts you may have about what could be wrong.
Any input is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Most probably random software issue. If you installed any apps recently one of them could be the culprit. Uninstall them or trying booting into safe mode and see if the problem persists with continued usage.
As a last resort you can factory reset the device using the PC companion. But since the lollipop update is round the corner wait for it and see if the update fixes the bug.
If a factory rest or firmware flash doesn't solve the problem its a hardware fault, return it and ask for replacement.
I know I randomly get data drops, but I always cycle mobile data off and on to fix it. Next time it happens, I'll try to make a call to see if this is the same bug that I've having.
Quick update:
Right before the problem started, I installed the current-as-of February 2015 version of Audible on my phone.
After I uninstalled Audible, the issue appears to have disappeared (haven't seen it re-occur yet). Bizarre, but that's the situation,
For last 5-6 days I had to restart phone about 4 times because of strangely stuck signal. Phone shows full bar, but there is no icon for data connection. And whole phone and data module is stuck, so no incoming/outgoing calls nor internet. Tried to enable airplane mode, no change. When I forced phone to 2g only mode, it showed Edge icon, but still no data. Only solution is full restart.
Took me while to notice and still trying to figure some pattern when it happens, but seems to be random. Only common thing is it happens on the move, because for last 3 days I stayed home sick and signal was fine. Today I took walk and happened twice.
I've noticed this too on my s7e...only happens when I lose data connection...but I can still make calls....subtle difference...
Airplane mode on/off...mobile data on/off doesn't do anything. Only success I've had is with selecting 3G manually , then putting it back to 4G...seems to kick back into life....data symbol pops up immediately
Tried to simulate this at work - went somewhere with zero signal - got the "no entry" sign at the top of screen to say no signal whatsoever...then as soon as I went elsewhere...bang - straight back to H+ connection instantly..
The only difference I can figure is that at home I'm on 4G (at work is H+)...and it looks like the phone has trouble kicking a 4G connection back into life (hence the manual toggle trick).
Try it yourself and see if any of this ties in with your fault.
Same problem here. Airplane isn't helping. So fare only full reboot helped. Will try toggleing network next time.
Very annoying bug.

This used to happen to me, but last week got an update (G935FXXU1APD - UK unbranded carphone warehouse) ...so went to my 2 favourite reception black holes at the weekend (different days) , and when I emerged the phone had connected again to the data network without any manual intervention...update seems to have done something....
December and I've been having this issue since October. The signal has gotten worse with the last update
Hey guys, i got the A2017G model on B05 firmware and quite often when im in the building the receiver of my call only hears every second word that i say... Most of the time it loses the signal completely and stays with no signal for about hour... Reboot doesn't help... Can someone confirm if for example firmware b03 was better or if someone have same issue?
Thank you
I'm sorry, but I can only tell you that I had no receptions issues neither on B03 nor on B05. Both work just fine like my old LG G4.
Which firmware was overall better for you i saw some people roll back to B03
I am also having issues with the signal dropping on the A2017G.
I am using the official Nougat 7.0 update, but even on the previous version, I noticed that almost always after I make a call the signal gets lost and it takes an average of 2-3 minutes before it is restored.
Sometimes I need to turn airplane mode on and off and a few times I had to do a restart.
I tried changing the settings (e.g. only use 3g, or manually select my network) but nothing helps.
Do I have to go back to an older ROM or is there anything else I can try?

Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue but when I try to make a call the dialer freezes for a while and shows the option of swapping calls or ending all calls. After a period of time (up to 10 minutes) the call finally connects. If I restart it, the first calls works as it should but afterwards same issue on all further calls. I have extensively searched for an answer on many forums and have tried the following with no luck in fixing this:
refreshed the profile and PRL
Did a factory reset
Reisntalled the latest RUU and Bad Boyz rom for both Marshmallow and Oreo (first MM then Oreo)
reset the network connection with the ##72 blah blah
Changed the network connection settings to LTE/CDMA from Auto and then to GSM
This is really an issue since I use this phone all day fpr work calls and having to restart before each call is ridiculous. Any ideas?
I was having the same issue, but it seems to have cleared up. Are you still dealing with this problem?

Alright guys, I am done with this. I am at unlocked international/UAE S10+ (SM-G975F on Exynos) which is kept uptades as soon as OTA comes out. Now I am on Build PPR1.180610.011.G975SFXXSASH1, baseband version G975FXXU3ASG8. Sometimes (like 2-4 times per day!!) I got this issue, where my signal is lost, and network gets disconnected (Screen 1 & 2). At the same time, for comparison, my iPad LTE is still connected, without any network issue (screen 3). iPad uses same carrier as SIM 2, SIM 1 is different, but as you can see, both are disconnected. Once I turn on & off the airplane mode - everything comes back to normal just in a second (screen 4). I tried wiping cache, wiping network settings, but it's not helping! The issue is, that once it's disconnected I have no idea how long it keeps this way, and nobody can call me during that time, that pisses me off. It seems like a software issue to me?
