Used phone with google lock (frp) - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Got a problem with a used phone I recently bought on ebay. The former user activated the factory reset protection and forgot to remove it before wiping.
Phone is completly stock and bootloader is locked. Security patch from october 2016.
At some point in the setup wizard I can only proceed with the log in Data of the former user.
I thought I could manage that but seems to be quite tough.
Already made it to the settings but couldnt activate developer settings (tapping on build no didnt do anything, i guess because no user profile is activated but I cant add one). Next method is using google now cards to download an apk. The doesnt work for me since no google option appears under settings. As far as I'm informed it is not possible to perform a factory reset via fastboot unless oem unlock is activated which I cant.
Is there a way to reset the phone or do I have to contact the seller and ask for his Account which is is kind of akward but its his fault at the end. Didnt knew about that since now.
Best regards

Ok, solved it myself.

[Q] issue with htc hd2 password

I had put a pattern lock on my HTC HD2 but my phone went dead and after I put it in charge and turned it on the phone won't accept the right password like it doesn't recognize it ... so now im locked outta my phone . I know how to do a factory reset , but i dont wanna erase everything ..
I heard a whole bunch of stuffs and people everywhere be saying that they haven't heard any other way then the master reset to unlock the phone so I was wondering is there any other way I can unlock the phone without having to do a master reset cause I haven't backing up my datas on the phone yet and since it's locked now it doen't even allow me now to do any kind of synchronization on my pc. So since yall are the experts on that matter please help me cause I'm afraid of losing all my informations on the phone and it has been about two weeks now since I put the phone on a corner somewhere unuseful and waiting for an answer.
thanks already guys !
Unfortunately, there is no way out other than a reset. Sucks to hear I know. However, yank the SD card out first, at least you wont lose anything that's on that.
Going forward, you can use the built in Microsoft MyPhone to sync backups to your live account. Or any other number of backup software that's out there. You can also set your phone and video to save to the SD card.
Sorry man, it's the most frustrating thing about this phone.
Yea that is so frustrating ... but is there any way that I can back up my datas before i perform that master reset cause I have never back them up before and everything is saved on the phone even my contacts cause as the phone locked right now it seems impossible to me to do anything at all. Anytime I'm trying to synchronize the datas on my pc it won't let me and said "your phone is locked authenticate your phone first". So is there any way out ?

Unfortunately that's one of the bugs, that the lock screen will no longer function correctly, you won't be able to get in, ever, sorry
i think i know why it happens, at least for me...
seems whenever i install certain cabs, then uninstall them, this happens. most recently has been a swype cab i found off here, was the latest version for t-mobile hd2s. it installed fine and worked fine, but when i removed it, it caused the issue. i reformatted and only installed that cab, setup a pin, rebooted, worked, uninstalled the swype cab, rebooted, broke-wouldn't take the pin.
so maybe it has something to do with using non stock roms and using different kinds of cabs or something...
Just happened to me last week due to a forced server exchange policy.
Hard reset is it. Confirmed by HTC.
Known bug with no fix on the way it seems.
same happended to me...and still looking to fix it
i already did the reset they told not to put a password on my phone
so im lookin if they find a fix so i can use password

Sign into google account after reset

Hello. A have bought a phone from Ebay, and cant sign in to google account due to security reasons (thanks google)
Contacted the seller, to provide me his acc/pass, but its useless. I am getting the same error. Can some1 help me solve this problem please?
Sounds like you purchased a stolen device.
This is FRP, Factory Reset Protection, and it's new on Lollipop/Marshmallow (can't remember exactly)... If a device associated with a Google account is factory reset, you MUST have the Google account credentials that were on the device prior to the reset to use the device again, a simple yet effective theft deterrent but can be a problem for consumers uneducated to it in the secondary market.
It is a very similar to approach to how Apple has done it for years and Windows Mobile has adopted a similar concept with Windows 10 Mobile.
On a few devices there are work arounds, but I am not aware of a working one on the Moto X.
BTW, if the seller changed his password or security method (like turned off 2-step authentication) recently, the phone is locked out even with the correct credentials for 24-72 hours depending on security patch applied to the device.
Oh, and a super simple way to avoid this... Delete all Google accounts on the device prior to a factory reset and wait a couple minutes (ensure you have an active Internet connection) then perform the reset.
i supose thats is becose the seller turned on the 2 step autentification.
idk, should i wait those 72 hours? or mby contact motorolla support?

Up to you, but Moto/Lenovo won't help at all since you are not the original owner with a matching serial number receipt. No one will or can help you except the person who know the Google account and password that was on the device when it was reset.
The whole point of FRP is it isn't capable of being bypassed, even by the manufacturer, otherwise what's the point of it? If you could definitively prove ownership to Moto they might help, but you can't since you were not the original purchaser of the device and you really don't know what happened to it before you got it.
Unfortunately, unless the seller can be of assistance or is willing to take it back, you're pretty much out of luck. You could file a PayPal claim against the seller if they won't take it back and the device was not as it was presented in the listing though.
the seller provided his acc/pass for the device, i have even the original purchase receipt (amazon.it)
btw. i have contacted motorola support, and they said to wait 72 hours, then to try to log in again

Then things are different in your country than mine... Moto won't even talk to someone in FRP who isn't the original owner. Good luck, hope it works out.
Just because the device has prior credentials on it, doesn't mean it's stolen. In fact I would the majority of the time it isn't, but all the "experts" on these forums offer that as their only advice, because really they don't have any idea how to bypass. Thanks "experts"

And as always, sign out of you google account before any reflashing of any kind of new or resetting default factory resetting the OS. Recovering the OS through TWRP does not require sign out of the google account.

Unlock FRP without re-flashing IS possible, anyone know how?

So the other day I accidentally turn off OEM unlock -> FRP locked out of my phone (can't boot, not the google account things). Everyone on this forum told me to just re-flash the ROM. I decided to go to the local repair shop since I don't want to deal with all the hassle of reflashing. The guy plugged my phone into his computer and in about 10s it booted up fine - my ROM and all app and data are exactly where I left it. He then just go to the developer options and turn OEM unlock on again. He did charge me a not small amount for 30s of works, so I don't bother asking him since most likely he won't answer.
So, anyone know what could possibly been done?
he uses a paid app that needs dongle that unlocks frp

Accidentally locked my phone after factory resetting...

Long story short, I bought a used phone and used a fake/throwaway gmail account to access play store to download an app to test everything was working. I then factory reset it not knowing it would then be locked until I logged back into that gmail account that I now don't know the username for!
I've tried a few of the youtube tutorials, but they either don't seem to work on this phone, or they require a special cable that I don't have.
I guess my only options left are to install a custom rom, but I am a complete newbie, I actually had to google what a custom rom was, but all the guides I find for doing this also don't work on a locked phone.
I feel like I keep going down different roads that all lead to dead ends
So does anyone know what would be the easiest way for a newbie such as myself to unlock my phone? And/or what guides could I use that would work for this phone?
In case it matters, I do have the original receipt (although not in my name) where the phone was purchased (from amazon), and the phone even has another 6 months left on warrenty. But I am guessing that would require posting the phone to LG and waiting weeks. Any better ways?
Did you set up a recovery email/phone number with the Google account?

Samsung Tab A 10.1 MDM Lock

Hi. My son purchased this tablet (foolishly) from someone on Offerup. (Didn't even bother to ask the guy to unlock it or if it even worked.. Battery was completely drained..)
After his purchase they deleted their seller account and I have no way to contact them.
I come to the community of G.O.A.T.S. with an issue.
The issue is that the device has a password, and I'm unable to factory reset it because of a message that says: "MDM does not allow factory reset.. Device will now restart".
I've seen the videos where people get to the screen where they use the encryption password incorrectly a few times and the device completely wipes itself.. I'm however unable to get to this screen due to the password currently present on the device. The only thing I can think of would be attempting to flash away the files with Odin, but i'm unsure how.
We even tried a few common passwords, but none of those worked. It says device locked by IT administrator, but we've gotten that message to go away and now it just asks for a password, which we have no way of finding out. Based on my understanding, the device is in retail mode and that will have to be removed for it to function fully.
Anyone have any suggestions or workarounds? I've been browsing through the forums for awhile and haven't seen any indication of what to do.
Please help
My friend purchased the same tablet with the same MDM block on it. I haven't found a single reply or workaround on this as well. Thankfully he got it at an auction for $2 so not a big deal
