Maybe you have the sepia effect enabled in camera effects?

Also tried dling a factory reset and firmware reflash? If they don't work either it means the issue is hardware-wise

That S-View cover screen. that should work only with this hardware feature. by covering light sensor you get this screen, try to disable this function in settings, but normally that looks like bug.

Thank you man, I was going crazy ahahah
more it can not be a hardware problem? because I thought that this function of the S-View only work on the samsung stock ROM or am I wrong? and I used the Google Edition 4.3 rom and never activated this option.
Thank you so much.
I looked about and found some people with this problem, but could not find any solution, I find strange because I never used any S-View cover, and option in settings did not work . If I try to change the rom you guys think the problem is solved?
Thanks
try to factory reset first, if that will not a solution, then try other rom. I hope that will help with your problem.

Have an issue where my camera will fail if I try to switch to front facing camera or video. I can take pics with the 13mp back camera but not the front. I tried to clear catche, clear data different camera app and did complete factory reset. I am rooted on Sac's 4.3 Rom, I even tried a differnt rom but same issue. I google searched this and saw a couple proper had this issue happen but no definite solution. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me like a hardware issue rather than a rom issue. Take it back for warranty repair... Good luck
If you can't fix "Camera failed" by Hard / Factory reset, upgrade or change firmware, you must to replace rear facing camera module. This part you can find easy on eBay.

Hi com,
When i open my camera and switch to the video function a warning appears that says "Warning, Record failed" (its translated from german) and the camera app closes. "Normal camera" works fine. I can take pictures without some warning.
I would send it back to Samsung but the problem is, i've rooted the phone already.
I noticed, when i plug in my Beats, the camera still works. The cable of my beats have an microphone so i think the microphone of my handy is broken.
Sorry for my bad englisch btw ...
Thanks for helping
sounds like a hardware issue....even though your warranty is gone you should try and contact them and explain the situation.
Is this on stock rom?

still need help ... its a very weird problem ...
Where did you buy this phone?
If you bought it from a carrier they most likely won't have the expertise or the competency to check if your phone is rooted

SOLUTION
"SOLUTION"
For everone who has the same problem, i flashed a custom ROM (Omega ROM in my case) and now the video camera still works.
It was no hardware issue because if the camera works why the video camera shouldnt work? I thought that the microphone had an issue because when i pluged in earphones with an microphone it worked. But it wasnt the microphone because it still worked when i was on phone.
Every now and then the Camera Failed message pops up when I try to use. A restart usually fixes it but at times I need it quick and a restart just takes away from the whole moment.
I bought the insurance with the phone from AT&T. Do I call AT&T, the insurance company or Samsung itself for a replacement due to the camera issue? I have a feeling if I call AT&T, they'll direct me to insurance but I don't think this is a insurance issue. Thanks

I already try flash a new rom, new kernel, new vendor... But notthing help me.
Any tips?

Take it back to the stock OS unroot the phone and boot the original 6.1 marshmallow. Report back with the results.
When I tried using a non-stock kernel, the camera app would open, and just a black screen. As for the non-rotate. Had similar issue which Google gladly replaced the phone no problem. But I found a quick fix before I sent the old one back. Give it a thump around the camera area against your thigh. It appears that gyroscope gets stuck.

I'm on the last build (MTC19T), without root, bootloader locked but still no luck.

Yes, no luck too.
I'm afraid I will have to send it to a repair center. I don't think Google will replace because I'm in Brazil.

You should be able to work with Amazon then.
My Nexus 6P is not rooted and I am using the Android N since the first preview. My camera stopped working around the same time as yours. Same black screen with the camera icon. So I downloaded a 3rd party camera app, which is working.
Hi guys, i recently changed the front camera of my galaxy s5 with a new one, but for unknown reasons it doesn't work, it gives me "server error, restart the camera". It's like the third camera i change and all of them doesn't work. I already tried all the solutions i found on the net but none of them worked. Do you know any way to fix this problem?

If three different cameras haven't fixed it, try reflashing, if that doesn't do it then look elsewhere at the hardware cause the camera itself clearly isn't it.

Any suggestions about it? Because I tried a lot to do different things, cleaning the hardware parts (so it isn't a dust problem) and carefully plugging in the flat, I just can't imagine what could be the problem. And are you sure that it couldn't be a software problem? Is there any way to verify that? Because I tried the *#34971539# code and the camera is read so maybe it works eventually, but the software is not.

If you reflashed and it didn't do ot I'm almost certain it isn't a software problem. No clue where to look for the hardware issue, sorry :/
