Front camera "server error, restart the camera" - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i recently changed the front camera of my galaxy s5 with a new one, but for unknown reasons it doesn't work, it gives me "server error, restart the camera". It's like the third camera i change and all of them doesn't work. I already tried all the solutions i found on the net but none of them worked. Do you know any way to fix this problem?

If three different cameras haven't fixed it, try reflashing, if that doesn't do it then look elsewhere at the hardware cause the camera itself clearly isn't it.

Any suggestions about it? Because I tried a lot to do different things, cleaning the hardware parts (so it isn't a dust problem) and carefully plugging in the flat, I just can't imagine what could be the problem. And are you sure that it couldn't be a software problem? Is there any way to verify that? Because I tried the *#34971539# code and the camera is read so maybe it works eventually, but the software is not.

If you reflashed and it didn't do ot I'm almost certain it isn't a software problem. No clue where to look for the hardware issue, sorry :/

G-sensor calibration not working

Ever since I had this HTC Tattoo, I couldn't manage to calibrate the G-sensor and therefore the display doesn't turn when I rotate the phone.
I always get the message "Calibration aborted".
Do you guys have this problem? Did you find a solution for this?
Please help!
Reset phone
Already did it. Still not working.
Did you fix the problem yet, you could try a different rom or even reflashing the one on the phone already.
same problem here.....
I did try a different ROM, still nothing.
Then it could be a hardware issue. If I were you, I would've looked for a replacement.
have you tried holding the phone at a tilt and then calibrating?

Yep, I did try that. Still nothing. I think it's just a hardware problem.
I saw this in the Hero forum and I think it might help. There are 2 ways of checking a hardware fault with the G-sensor:
- either the Bubbles game which does not depend on the OS for sensor data
- or the Sensor Debug app.
If anyone of these apps gives you a good response from the sensor, then it is a software fault and you should harass HTC for a software patch. That's what the Hero guys did and it seems to have worked for them (in that case it seemed to be some kind of permission problem with the calibration log file).

I had horrible issues with my camera focus on all versions until I realised that my finger was naturally brushing the lens during normal use and leaving small finger prints (thus oil) and this was causing incorrect focus behaviour. I have since adjusted the way I hold it and also remember to clean the lens more often then not.
It may not be what you're having an issue with but I thought it might be worth sharing just in case...

If that doesn't work, it may be a hardware problem - I had the same symptoms, and after trying all sorts of configuration and software fixes, I had to send it back to Motorola for hardware repair. I've heard other people with the same problem.
I noticed that when I try to shoot several times the focus of the camera back to work, I don't know what can be.
thanks for all.
Thanks a lot!

camera error

I bought a new Galaxy s2 this week and I have been really pleased with it, except for one thing: when I want to open the camera app I get the following error( and after the app shuts down): "Warning: camera failed" .
I have already tried a factory reset, but with no results.
Then, after I rooted the phone and installed lightning rom on it in the hope there was a software problem that should be helped. but again no results.
When I for example want to make a video call using skype, it works great with the front facing cam. However when I switch to back camera the screen freezes.
So, I am starting to get the feeling that the problem lies with the hardware.. although I am not sure.
Is there anyone who knows what might be the problem? And if the phone should be sent back?
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately this DOES sound like a hardware error. Your best bet would be to return to stock (and get a jig to reset the binary counter) and send it back to Samsung.

Galaxy s4 Camera failed

Have an issue where my camera will fail if I try to switch to front facing camera or video. I can take pics with the 13mp back camera but not the front. I tried to clear catche, clear data different camera app and did complete factory reset. I am rooted on Sac's 4.3 Rom, I even tried a differnt rom but same issue. I google searched this and saw a couple proper had this issue happen but no definite solution. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me like a hardware issue rather than a rom issue. Take it back for warranty repair... Good luck
If you can't fix "Camera failed" by Hard / Factory reset, upgrade or change firmware, you must to replace rear facing camera module. This part you can find easy on eBay.

Galaxy S4 I9505, Front Camera Nightmare!

Hello, I bought this used Galaxy S4 I9505 recently. My thread is about the S4 camera. The problem is whenever I switch to front camera, the app freezes for a while and then the dialog "Camera Failed" pop up. And it won't work again even after I restarted the app. I have to do " Force Stop " & " clear data " from application manager so the app can start normally ( FOR THE BACK CAMERA OF COURSE ).
My issue in a few words: The back camera works perfectly but whenever I switch to front camera, the app freezes and then says "Camera failed". I have to do "Clear data" to make the back camera work again.
-- For hardware, I changed both ( rear & front ) camera. And they were 100% original that were removed from another device.
I tried every damn thing like "wipe data/factory reset" or "wipe cache". And changed the firmware many times. Still the same problem.
Also I know a friend who has the same problem on Galaxy Note 2 N7100!
And another friend who has the same damn thing on Galaxy Note 3 N9005!!
My experience made me sure that this is a hardware problem and cannot be fixed without changing the main board. But that did not prevent me from posting this thread so I can hear any advice from you guys here in XDA.
Thank you.
I'm suffering the same issue + randomly getting SIM removed message so I guess it's a mainboard issue sadly ?

Are you sure your sim is in good condition? + See if the sim connectors are 100% fine ( those small golden ledges where you plug in the sim card )
And you should try using another sim card if you haven't done so.
thanks,,
Badly it seems that nobody experienced such problem before.:crying:
