Try to find xcpuscalar, you can underclock your cpu so it will consume less battery.
You can also go for the extended battery. They have 4800 and 3800 available now.
4800: http://www.lionbattery.com/description.php?noproduit=324
3800: http://www.mobileplanet.com/product.asp?code=136987
I personally have the 3800. They both will increase the thickness of your device though.
The device is thick enough as it is, and i'm having issues carry it.
My try the cpu program and see how it goes.
Open Phone app. -> Menu -> Options -> Band -> Set it to GSM
Having it to auto roam between GSM-UMTS(3G) or set to UMTS uses a lot off power.
Set it to UMTS when you need higher internett speed

do you use it? can you feel the difference?
The difference in the cpu downclocker is very minimal. I remember reading a post (search for it) of someone doing the test. Underclocking and leaving it at the factory setting, there was only like a 5-6 minute difference.
I would like to pick up an extended battery but then my nice silicone case I just bought wouldn't fit with the larger battery cover It's ok, I've got two backup batteries if I ever travel and am not able to charge the device.

thanks have done this and it seems to work quite well. Is it possible to create a button on the desktop to do a quick switch between GSM and UMTS?

Not that I know of.
Also , make sure to terminate any GPRS/UMTS connection before attempting to change network type, otherwise it might refuse to change.
biggest power savers i found:
1. turn off auto beam acceptance
2. wind back the screen brightness display to just before blank (you really dont need it that bright)
3. disable wifi & bluetooth at all times when not in use
4. Set the auto screen off and device off features
5. Soft reset your device in the morning if possible, i use backup software to do it for me
6. If you really want to save power... go into flight mode. PDA still works, music etc, but no radio facility.
In my view, and order of impact... 6, 3, 2, 4, 5, 1.

I agree WiFi is a major drain!!! Beam acceptance...IrD what? havent used IrDa in years only you dont really need to disable Bluetooth...just make device not discoverable
You can adjust WiFi performance and battery usage
Another thing I noticed, we have the option of adjusting WiFi connectivity to either having BETTER BATTERY or FASTER CONNECTIVITY by going to Comm Manager>Settings>WiFi Settings from there you can play with the bar and determine which is best for your usage.

In settings, the icon is actually red and blue, in otherwords IR and Bluetooth aware for incoming files and transfers. if you dont do a lot of beaming (bt or ir), then turn it off in settings.

What about having an SD card in the reader? does this affect battery drain? if so, how much?

It only drains the battery when being used. Keeping it reside in the SD slot doesnt drain any battery
in the other way: If I use ONLY GSM, all other out (BT,WiFi,etc), and I don't bother the PDA, the power could last for more days...
If I don't use the PDA, only as normal phone (without opening it, and I don't make long calls) the battery goes from 99% only to 90-95%. This is quite impressive I think.
@kchris
Yearrrr, http://europe.nokia.com/7380 this would be my next choice
I created this thread to list all peoblems on HD2 that may face you to be reported for the developers (share your problems )
list of problems you may suffer from (not all users have all problems in the list ):
1. buttons backlight doesn't work
2. multitouch is buggy and stops working allot (when zoooming )
3. no autofocus in camera , and pictures are so bad
4. big noise in videorecording and very noisy voice
6. loud speaker is very loud
7.wifi mac address will change if you reboot the phone
8. charging problem when the device is off (magldr issue )
9.Support For 1024LEO full Capacity (currently limited to 512)
10. market takes allot of time to verify purchase and download (wp7 issue or just us ? )
11. battery meter not accurate at all, and very high battery usage
12. some htc applicaions doesn't work (audio booster ) works ut make no change
13. flash on camera and green tint
14. light sensor in extreme dark conditions (corrupted as in android ) needs testing not sure
15. rebooring problems
16.FM radio is very loud even with the volume on the minimum setting.
17. sync contacts names problems (may be wp7 )
18. service provider settings (like charge , pay pill ) in windows 6.5 and android doesn't exist (wp7 problem , may be ) .
19. digital compass , is it working or not and how to test it
20.mms, can't change apn for mms
21.No headset icon when headset is bluged
22.push tiles update issue
23.Only the left headset works when make call.
24. mic doesn't work when headset is bluged in
25. Phone remains "locked" after MS activation, no amount of unlocking works. *mod edit - try method 2 : here *
Notes:
A. some issues are windows phone 7 related that we should wait for microsoft to fix them see the list here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836373
B. I will request the next rom update to be an hd7 reg edited as default , so that we will only need to use the activation code without cracking the phones security with (chevron wp7.exe ) as with the next microsoft ypdate we will not be able to use it any more.
C. All problems are being repeated now , i think the list above includes it all ,one more day and i will be reporting all these issues on the chinees forum , or to cotulla ,
A very big problem don't let your phone empty its charge as it can't be charged while it is off and it will die unless you find a way to charge it externally
I hope that cotulla this repaired
Speciall the camera
wifi problem, phone don't open the site but is connect to the router
WiFi problem - I can't see all WPA secured WiFi networks, I can find (and connect) my WiFi at home, but at work, HD2 doesn't see WiFi there...
Yesterday I answered the phone and the opposite side can't hear me (radio 2.15.., I don't know, just the last version)
Sometimes the phone is little bit laggy, I think, that the problem is in the SD card, when I used the phone w/o card (before hard-reset ofc), everything was faster
1. Speaker is very loud
2. Hope Market will be soon available for all.
I will be updating the list issue periodically and I might register to dft forum to report it all if he is not going to xda anymore

Known issue with Magldr.
Warning!
Installed win phone 7 on my HD2, and it formated my 16 gb memory card in a secured partition, all data was erased, and i could not format it using any windows tools, so the only solution for me was to "Hard" Format it using a free software called SDFormatter, it formated and brought back to life my microSD Card.
So people, back up your data before flashing.
So far one issue: it takes quite a lot of time to turn off the phone
Regarding the camera, using flash gives green tint. No other problems from the reported ones.

I had the same problem. I've noticed that the wlan channel from my wlan router was 13. I switched the channel to 11 and then WP7 find my wlan...
So, WP7 doesn't support wlan channels higher then 11...
wifi mac address will change if you reboot the phone.
The type isn't clear when you scroll down or up in the system menu, it takes a little bit time when the type is clear again.
The next problem for me is that I don't know how to set up wireless synchronization, I think I've done everything according to Microsoft pages, but it doesn't work for me.
And then I have the same problems like you, loud speakers, camera...
Well, after reading most of the posts here I guess I was lucky, WiFi and Mobile data connection worked for me, the phone was fast (faster than Android).
The whole WP7 seems to be 'airy' and not so heavy as Android, I liked the look of emails, large and clear fonts, easy to read and navigate. But on the whole, the system seems to be too closed off, not much customization is available.
I did manage to unlock it and install some 3rd party apps but soon the phone would give me a message that 'Microsoft has revoked' the particular program. Also the phone keeps locking itself over and over. I got tired of unlocking it every time I wanted to install a new app. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. Had to either reset the phone or PC many times in order for things to work.
Does anybody know a solution to this?
I could have asked MS to give me the 'key' so that live services could be used but was not sure I want to keep this OS on my phone. It may be similar to Vista issue, a nice looking OS but buggy. Somehow I have a feeling that a new and (much) improved WP7 is around the corner.
Couple of tips:
If you want to sync your contacts, calendar, etc., the easiest way is to go through Google. If you used an Android ROM before this should not be a problem. Back up all your contacts in Android by using your Google account, once you are in WP7 go to Settings - People - Gmail and sign in. It will automatically sync your contacts to the phone - painlessly. You can also choose not to have your Facebook contacts mixed with the phone's ones. Up to you.
If you want to revert back to WinMO 6.5 or Android:
- take out your SD card first
- turn off your phone and then hold the Vol Down key as you press and hold the Power button (get into Bootloader screen)
- flash the official ROM (3.14 RUU is recommended)
- use your photo camera to format your SD card (if you have a card holder, stick in, and then format)
- if you wish you can format your SD card again once you put it back into your phone and plug it into your PC
It worked for me. I am using my SD card again to run Android (flawlessly)

After unlock the phone, you have to use 2 softs :HTC Connection Setup and Tom WP7 Jailbreak in order to prevent from MS remote lock. Have you used it before?
some issue
My Leo restarts after about an one-two hours .
When I click the red phone, then again, Leo wake up after one minute , restart or doesn't wake up .
The second issue is when Leo is restarting , all information disappear - just like in hard reset .
It's not very stable and vast ;(
Dear photon users,
I need to calibrate our photon battery driver.
Please find enclosed a little application, that will poll the Windows battery values and write debug data into a file.
This will help me to calibrate the driver.
Note: this application will not damage your phone. it only read data and writes it to a file.
I need some volunteers to use this application and send me the debug output.
You can do this during the night, so you will be able to use your phone on day time
Here is how to use the app:
A- SET YOUR POWER SAVING SETTINGS
(running on Windows, not Android!)
1- go in "Settings" > "Sound and Display" > "Backlight"
2- under power saving settings for "running on battery":
uncheck "disable backlight if i dont use my phone for x time"
uncheck "switch off my phone if not used for x time"
(this will help the phone to drain battery quickly, and avoid phone to switch off when recording the data)
3- under power saving settings for "running with power cable":
check "disable backlight if i dont use my phone for x time"
uncheck "switch off my phone if not used for x time"
(this will help the phone to charge faster, and avoid phone to switch off when recording the data)
B- DISCHARGE DATA SURVEY
(running on Windows, not Android!)
1- charge your phone to 100%
2- launch PowerSpy.exe
3- let your phone drains the battery by itself until Windows switch-off because low power (PowerSpy running in background)
4- plug your power cable, boot windows, and download the file at root of your phone named "\battery_data_survey.txt" to your PC
5- (you can rename it as "battery_data_survey_discharge.txt")
C- CHARGE DATA SURVEY
(running on Windows, not Android!)
1- discharge your phone to the maximum, around 10% (if you didnt discharge it yet)
2- launch PowerSpy.exe
3- plug your power adaptor to charge your phone
4- let your phone charge with PowerSpy running in background
5- at the end of the charge, when LED is green, download the file at root of your phone named "\battery_data_survey.txt" to your PC
6- (you can rename it as "battery_data_survey_charge.txt")
Finaly, answer to this post with those two txt files attached to your post reply.
Notes:
1- Be careful, everytime you launch this app, it overwrites the output data file and creates a new one.
2- When you launch PowerSpy, it automatically record the data, there is no need for you to do anything else. just let it run in background
3- To retrieve the data file, you need to set your phone in USB mode with ActiveSync. Then, connect phone to PC, browse "My Computer" > "Mobile Device" > root of your device: the file should be there
Thank you very much for your help!
I will do this on my side, but I need data from you, otherwise the battery driver will not be accurate for you
i have started the process and will post the files when it's done!!!
i hope you can fix it and compile a good logarithm.
This is the first, second coming today about 18 hours
i also wil start it tomorow after work.
thanks guys!
let me know if there is any trouble with the application.
be careful, everytime you launch this app, it overwrites the output data file and creates a new one!
I will try test tomorrow night, and will report you. Gook Luck
We stand by your working forever.
In China, a lot of user will go in.
I want send these data to you after testing.
Shall you tell me your e-mail??
Maybe you could send e-mail to me at first.
my e-mail:[email protected]
thanks for your working~~
thanks!
i tested it during the night for discharge, but itwent from 100% to 70% in about 8 hours... i need to put something that drain battery fast.
maybe enable wifi, 3G, camera and video at the same time.
the faster discharge is going, better it is (otherwise the debug file is huge and does not change a lot)
hi r0bin,i'll send my report soon
here is a good app which will help you to discharge battery fast, and also calibrate it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=516458
Another option for discharge is the game Risky Wars: http://www.riskywars.com/ I think it uses the CPU to discharge.
good job and good luck.
I'm also to wifi and Bluetooth, and speaker work together. This can speed up the battery consumption. Can I do this? Or standby power consumption?
I will upload files
sorry for my english!I hope you can understand the meaning...
ok
here are my files about the discharge and charge process.
this is battery test data
Hi!r0bin
thanks for you great job.the test file uploaded come from xda.cn.it only the first test file, and more will be here later.hope it would help.
hi guys, thanks a lot for your files and for taking the time to do it (15MA1L, 15131331231 & xda.cn.it, Smudoooo)
the very good news is, the raw values match the windows values, this wont be that difficult to calibrate the driver.
the bad news is, i forgot to log the current charge and discharge, as well as ADC_REF etc :-/
i compiled a new version of this app, that log also the current, please use this one.
thanks

Hey guys.
I have a Moto X style which I bought from England. I love it,however the stand by time is terrible.
When I dont touch my phone for a while the battery can drop drastically.
I have tried several factory resets, thought that maybe an update would help..nothing.
Any suggestions?

Try to use phone in "safe mode", so you will know if your problem is affected by your installed applications or faulty equipment.
Second step would be to root it, and use applications as BBS and Amplify to determinate where your phone uses most wakelocks and alarms when device is sleeping.
And then I would recommend to get Greenify and "block" some applications.
You can try to disable all google applications that you dont use, also I suggest to uninstall everything that is for "Facebook".
Also it could be affected from a bad mobile network signal at your area, use battery settings to see your mobile network signal.
For more battery disable bluetooth and location. (Google uses location very often, you can try to use - device only mode = GPS).
Good luck with that!
EDIT:
Just remembered, you can also try:
*wipe both caches.
*discharge phone to 10-20%, turn it off and then charge to 100%. For charging I would suggest to use only original charger that came with a device.
Try CM13 rom, trust me, that's the solution. The stock rom is a sh***t. I used to get 3 hours SOT and now and I usually get around 6 hours SOT
Had CM13 incorporated the use sd card as internal storage yet?
Hi guys,
My phone is having sleeping problems. He's just not relaxed and is constantly bothered by something and this tension keeps waking him up many times, even though he is supposed to rest! I've tried my best to give him the right conditions - no Wi-Fi, no BT, full Airplain Mode, yet it is simply not enough.
I attach some images to make it clear.
[edit: why is Google Play Services doing all that? Could they just stop messing up with my hardware - GPS, CPU and so on?]
YD-206 with software for 201
root
TWRP
Xposed - Greenify
NovaLauncher
Nothing special
Is there any hope?
Thanks
Absolutely the same problems on my YD-201 6.0.1 with the same configurations (TWRP, Xposed, Greenify, NovaLauncher + Stock Battery Optimization). Besides, my wifi cannot be disabled, it is always active whatever i try. It is always on search mode even it is disabled. Hey, how do you get the dark theme for stock settings menu? And is your Battery Optimization Settings active?
Android Version?
What's the android version do you have? Lollipop or Marahmallow, i have YD206 with YD201 software, it has some issues with lolli and others with Marsh.
Do you have the hybrid Radio? The european or the chinese? If you dont even know then i suggest you to install the hybrid radio, it solves problems with the battery drain and the warm issues (yota hell xD).
I dont use greenify, i just use the freezing mode from titanium backup.

An update: THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER [after installing Better Wifi on/off (read below)]
1. I'm using Greenify and have hibernated many applications - this might be one of the solutions to the Wi-Fi usage. (See attached zip file for which apps are hibernated)
2. I installed an app called Better Wifi on/off version 2.1.0.0 from Google Play Store and have set the rules how to turn on/off (See also attached zip file for the exact set-up).
3. The Wifi sometimes appear to be ON on Battery Usage Graphic, but actual battery consumption is not noticed. The the normal consumption for 'Phone idle' is about 3-4% per day (around 120 mA). This would suggest that the phone will be able to last around 20 days if totally idle.
4. BLUETOOTH BUG - somewhere in this forum I read that after connecting the phone via Bluetooth to some external gadget (in my case UE Roll 2 music box), even after disconnecting, the Bluetooth causes Wakelock and this dramatically drains the battery!!! (See screenshot) The solution is Restart of the phone. On the Battery graphic you can clearly see the drain from Awake and after that I did a Restart and let the phone stay idle - the usage dropped immediately!
5. I'm using stock Battery Optimization
6. [OFF-TOPIC] To make background color for menus dark I use projekt.substratum_490_minAPI23.com.apk (attached to the post) and after installing it, I downloaded the theme InversionUI from Google Play Store. (I can't stand white/bright colors on my screen, especially at night, and knowing what it does to my battery since I'm on AMOLED display).
