Hi
Another problem encountered after I changed my 1st GNote3 due to camera output issue. The camera thread could be access here
I encountered this problem right after I arrived home on the same day I got my 1st replacement, durh~
I visibly can see pink hue at the bottom of my screen, approximately ¼ of my bottom screen. Sometimes, I also could see some green/blueish hue 1/8 of my upper screen. These hues can be visible under low light and brightness with grey/white background.
I’m positive that the shop won’t accept my 2nd replacement due to its policy of 1 to 1 replacement (one time only). I’m reluctant to send my GNote3 for repair anyway…
My question, could firmware/kernel update solve this problem? Or I need to bring this HP to Samsung Service Centre for Color Calibration? Anyone encountered the same issue?
Thanks

Hi,
I bought a new G5 Plus. I noticed there is a yellowish tint towards the bottom of the screen. Is this normal?

No, this isn't normal. I also have a slight tint towards the bottom and I tried to get it replaced under 10 days of buying but it was never replaced and I have to live with it now. If yours has a more distinguishable tint then I suggest you go for a replacement

Thanks for the reply. I had bought it for a friend. Flipkart rejected my replacement request(as expected) after sending a guy to check on it. It's certainly more distinguishable. Didn't you try reaching Motorola service?
Try turning the display setting from vivid to standard, settings/display/colour mode.

I bought it from Flipkart as well and I have the same story as yours but the tint on my phone isn't very strong and is only noticeable when you look at it very carefully or compare it with another LCD screen phone side-by-side.
Also, my screen also used to flicker at a certain level of brightness (Google it, quite a few people have reported it on Moto forum). The technician only disabled hw overlays from developer options and called it a day. SMH

I have contacted Motorola & escalated the issue with Flipkart. Hoping for the best.
MotoG5 plus yellow screen
While in a TeamViewer secession (from my computer to my Mom's MotoG5+) i noticed her screen change color - like a light brown/yellow hue. with the phone up and down, the hue or overlay covers the entire screen. when turned sideways, it covers 90% of the screen (you can see a distinctive line). with the phone turned sideways the other direction, it covers half of the screen (starting in a little from the left). see the pics.
This is my 4th replacement, expecting my 5th today, this latest one I have is manufactured on the 16th nov shipped on the 20th doesn't have a pure white screen and the ambient display keeps switching itself off, I've never had to send so many phones back in my life, on this one the screen is white at the top and at the bottom about 1-2 inches up it's like a dirty yellow tint and not pure white, I'll see what this latest one is like tonight but I'm hoping it's not a 16th nov manufactured device.

I would get a different phone. I can't believe Google are sending you so many phones when they've already said they do not see the issue as am issue. Hell I don't see it as an issue and I am very very picky.
Fourth replacement and still one from November? My first RMA I got one in January with no issues.

Yep this was last week i got the 16th nov device, i actually think they're repackaging old stock trying to par them off with other end users phones that have already been sent back,

It's my last one, the first 4 phones had perfectly white screens, if you think half a yellow screen and an ambient display that goes off 20+ times a day is acceptable then you are not picky mate.

Sigh I've just checked the IMEI number and it's yet another 16th nov device, I'll check it later if it's got the same screen it's going back again, they must definitely be sending repackaged devices out
What manufacture dates have you received? Anything from this year?
I've got a Jan 3rd manufacture date on my sim free phone from CPW

The first I got was oct which was fine apart from battery issues, the next 2 i never checked, these last 2 are both nov 16th manufacturing dates, i do not believe they still have brand new stock dating from nov when we're in march, they said it is brand new I'm more inclined these are cleaned up repackaged devices that have been returned, from the Google store.
Update, just to add to this, i now remember when this 16th nov device arrived last week, upon unboxing it the sticker wasn't fully sealed, not stuck down properly and the plastic cover wrapping round the screen wasn't properly aligned as if it wasn't done from the factory.

Battery issues, either not charging at all or charging extremely slowly, the last one apps were crashing frequently.
Finally tested the new one still 16th nov device but the screen is white and not yellow at the bottom so all is good, don't settle for crap folks.

Why didn't you just switch to a different device? Clearly you aren't happy with the 2xl or you just have nothing better to do

Because now this one is perfect as it should be, question, if you bought a new tv and the bottom of the screen was yellow would you keep it? Thought not
I did the same thing, though I only had to return once. My first device was cool at the bottom and progressively warmer at the top. Didn't think it would be that much of an issue, but after about 6 hours I was on the phone with support. Got my replacement 2 days later and it's been perfect since. Don't blame you for returning.

Cheers, mine was yellow at the bottom, not acceptable, i mean wow if lg made this much variation into their tv oled panels and 1 tv was different to the next would put right off anything that has an lg oled panel in it, it's quite shocking someone could be buying a tv based on expert reviews and then getting something with completely different colour balance, in this day an age if they can't manufacture in mass indentical products then it's a company to stay away from in the future.
Also to add Google tried initially to tell me there is variation in devices and that can be expected lol, wtf

Your belief is rubbish. I received a brand new P2XL from Google on the Monday following Easter (April 2d, 2018). Completely and properly sealed, and with the inner plastic wrap totally untouched. I just checked the IMEI and the manufacture date is November 18, 2017. So Google does still have new stock dating from November for purchase, because I received one.
I understand everyone's concern regarding the blue tint. I myself see the blue tint on my screen, but I found it to not be troublesome enough to return the device. After all, my Nexus 6 using a Samsung panel exhibits the same tinting to the same degree when holding the screen at an angle to sight. My Galaxy S4 prior to that with (at the time) Samsung's best AMOLED screen also exhibits the same tinting, though in that case the tinting is more pronounced being an older display. I simply never noticed it until people like yourself brought it up.
Issues with ambient light sensors, partial yellow tints, and other similar defects are one thing, and for those I would exchange devices. But to exchange devices because of blue tinting at odd angles, a side effect with all OLED displays regardless of who makes them? I believe that to be a waste of time, but then again I also believe this "tintgate" controversy is simply overblown.
They are only shipping refurbished devices for RMA now..

How have people had January manufactured devices if they still don't have old stock?
Yes the blue tint is well overblown, mine has it albeit very minimal on mine and i mean minimal, the first i had was worse than this but still didn't bother me as my s9 has the same tint, as you rightly said other screen issues, calibration issues, manufacturing issues, whatever you want to call it is not acceptable, when you look at your phone, your tv, your tablet whatever should look uniform in colour and not change in from white to yellow for eg which my last one did.
Google actually said they are stringent on manufacturing but there can be variation, that's like saying you might get the performance out of the car you purchased but you might not, and as far as I'm concerned this is LG manufacturing **** ups or inferior parts to cover stock on the early rush.

Hello, a short time after acquiring my RN7 I noticed that the screen suffered from image retention, it is really annoying, does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way to fix it beyond replacing the screen?
No, if You can return for replacement.

Nope, It's seems that you have a defective unit. I have in hand 3 RN7 and none of them have image retention.
1 month of use and no image retention.
If you have image retention and also a rom that has livedisplay, such as lineageos or pixel experience plus, go to color calibration section, set rgb intensity to a value close to 90% For me 93% has worked and I consider that my problem is already quite severe, since then, image retention has not been a problem for me.
I attached a ss of my settings.
I returned my OP8 Pro as I got burn-in on the status bar after just 4-5 days of use (mostly indoors at medium to low brightness). Picture atached, the burn in is the status bar at the top which was permanent, the larger retention in the middle and bottom did eventually fade after a couple of minutes so was only temporary.
When I returned it there were no replacements available so I held fire. I have read elsewhere that there are some theories that it as it is an early 10 bit panel (Samsung still using 8 bit panels on the S20s) that this is why we have some quirks with the screen so I am wondering if burn-in will be an issue with this panel across the board?
So I am curious as I am considering re-ordering when they are back in stock, does anybody not have burn-in? Specifically on the status bar as I am guessing this is where it would be consistent for all?
Thanks
I don't, everything is perfect.
Well, I seem to be one of the lucky guys who got no screen issues so far <knock on wood>.... Just checked, no burn-in, no colour-tint .... But ere you get envious: my Fingerprint reader is not working and mobile data is also flaky at times :cyclops:
My display is great. I see nothing that worries me.

I don't think I have ,I certainly haven't noticed it what's the best test image
I've noticed it but I haven't gone looking for it. I have seen the black bar at the top of the screen but pretty sure that's just image retention.

It seems that there is hope then!
Attached are 2 good backgrounds for checking for those who are interested. My status bar was definately permanent which after just 5 days was a worry, it was faint but would no doubt get worse over time.

Thanks for these. Cant say that I have burn-in luckily. Btw my date is march 27.
My navigation bar had some crazy image retention that after a couple of days of not displaying the navigation bar it removed itself. The status bar is stuck and because I can't remove it I fear it will be burnt in.
Defo no burn in here
No burn in here with over two weeks of use now.
None here. Got mine on the 24th and been using it a lot. Looks like the issues are hit and miss. Both of the ones I ordered are working 100% perfect.
No burn-in, but just starting to use as my dd...
Nope
Nothing here, got mine May 5th been using it since, checked then and today. Nothing.
Mine has the status bar burn-in...
I have it since April 26th

I didn't think I had any burn in until I used these images. It's very minor just on the status bar, and is just temporary. Like at first I could see my battery % at 93, then a few minutes later it was 90. The burn in was no longer 93. Hopefully it doesn't get bad. I haven't had any green tint issues. I've been very happy with the phone thus far.
How long have you had it?
My view on returning it was that if I'd seen this after 6 months I'd be ok with it, maybe explore the warranty aspects but overall I'd not have a problem. After 4-5 days though it just had to go back.
