This is my 4th replacement, expecting my 5th today, this latest one I have is manufactured on the 16th nov shipped on the 20th doesn't have a pure white screen and the ambient display keeps switching itself off, I've never had to send so many phones back in my life, on this one the screen is white at the top and at the bottom about 1-2 inches up it's like a dirty yellow tint and not pure white, I'll see what this latest one is like tonight but I'm hoping it's not a 16th nov manufactured device.

I would get a different phone. I can't believe Google are sending you so many phones when they've already said they do not see the issue as am issue. Hell I don't see it as an issue and I am very very picky.
Fourth replacement and still one from November? My first RMA I got one in January with no issues.

It's my last one, the first 4 phones had perfectly white screens, if you think half a yellow screen and an ambient display that goes off 20+ times a day is acceptable then you are not picky mate.

Sigh I've just checked the IMEI number and it's yet another 16th nov device, I'll check it later if it's got the same screen it's going back again, they must definitely be sending repackaged devices out
What manufacture dates have you received? Anything from this year?

The first I got was oct which was fine apart from battery issues, the next 2 i never checked, these last 2 are both nov 16th manufacturing dates, i do not believe they still have brand new stock dating from nov when we're in march, they said it is brand new I'm more inclined these are cleaned up repackaged devices that have been returned, from the Google store.
Update, just to add to this, i now remember when this 16th nov device arrived last week, upon unboxing it the sticker wasn't fully sealed, not stuck down properly and the plastic cover wrapping round the screen wasn't properly aligned as if it wasn't done from the factory.

Battery issues, either not charging at all or charging extremely slowly, the last one apps were crashing frequently.
Finally tested the new one still 16th nov device but the screen is white and not yellow at the bottom so all is good, don't settle for crap folks.

Because now this one is perfect as it should be, question, if you bought a new tv and the bottom of the screen was yellow would you keep it? Thought not
I did the same thing, though I only had to return once. My first device was cool at the bottom and progressively warmer at the top. Didn't think it would be that much of an issue, but after about 6 hours I was on the phone with support. Got my replacement 2 days later and it's been perfect since. Don't blame you for returning.

Cheers, mine was yellow at the bottom, not acceptable, i mean wow if lg made this much variation into their tv oled panels and 1 tv was different to the next would put right off anything that has an lg oled panel in it, it's quite shocking someone could be buying a tv based on expert reviews and then getting something with completely different colour balance, in this day an age if they can't manufacture in mass indentical products then it's a company to stay away from in the future.
Also to add Google tried initially to tell me there is variation in devices and that can be expected lol, wtf

Your belief is rubbish. I received a brand new P2XL from Google on the Monday following Easter (April 2d, 2018). Completely and properly sealed, and with the inner plastic wrap totally untouched. I just checked the IMEI and the manufacture date is November 18, 2017. So Google does still have new stock dating from November for purchase, because I received one.
I understand everyone's concern regarding the blue tint. I myself see the blue tint on my screen, but I found it to not be troublesome enough to return the device. After all, my Nexus 6 using a Samsung panel exhibits the same tinting to the same degree when holding the screen at an angle to sight. My Galaxy S4 prior to that with (at the time) Samsung's best AMOLED screen also exhibits the same tinting, though in that case the tinting is more pronounced being an older display. I simply never noticed it until people like yourself brought it up.
Issues with ambient light sensors, partial yellow tints, and other similar defects are one thing, and for those I would exchange devices. But to exchange devices because of blue tinting at odd angles, a side effect with all OLED displays regardless of who makes them? I believe that to be a waste of time, but then again I also believe this "tintgate" controversy is simply overblown.
They are only shipping refurbished devices for RMA now..

How have people had January manufactured devices if they still don't have old stock?
Yes the blue tint is well overblown, mine has it albeit very minimal on mine and i mean minimal, the first i had was worse than this but still didn't bother me as my s9 has the same tint, as you rightly said other screen issues, calibration issues, manufacturing issues, whatever you want to call it is not acceptable, when you look at your phone, your tv, your tablet whatever should look uniform in colour and not change in from white to yellow for eg which my last one did.
Google actually said they are stringent on manufacturing but there can be variation, that's like saying you might get the performance out of the car you purchased but you might not, and as far as I'm concerned this is LG manufacturing **** ups or inferior parts to cover stock on the early rush.

So I know there have been tons of threads regarding light bleed in the Transformer but what I'm wondering is if the issue has gotten any better with the newer units. My 45 day return window at Best Buy is coming up and I'm trying to decide what to do. I have some light bleeding on the bottom right of my unit, but it only really bothers me in dark rooms. However since my wife tries not to use lights very much in our house, most rooms are dark. I haven't had any other issues, and I would only consider exchanging it if I knew that the newer ones have gotten better on this front. I got mine in mid May and I assume they've had numerous shipments since then. Have the new models gotten any better on the defect front?
I just bought one yesterday and I am taking it back today. Mine has some separation between the glass and bezel as if it were dropped in shipping or something. I also notice very minor light bleed only at the bottom about middle area so I would say that most likely this issue hasn't been resolved but I am afraid the new one I get tonight will be worse.
I will post up tonight when i get the new one and let you know if it has any bleed....most likely it will. Even the display models at 2 different Best Buys has it. I got mine from Office Depot so that is three different stores all with light bleed issues.
I got mine last month from Best Buy online and it's fine. No bleeding, no creaking, no problems of any kind (except the occasional PEBKAC issue )
I have no problems as ofyet

So it's still a crap-shoot?
Just got mine from NewEgg for $389/fs. So far, no issues. It's a black-sealed, Serial# B60 model. I can't detect any light-bleed, no creaks/cracks. Only had it a few minutes, but all seems well. It was packaged very well from NE with peanuts in a large box. I can't detect issues with the speakers either.
It had Android 3.1 preinstalled.
Also, it has all my phone (EVO) apps installed within minutes ... not sure if that's new to Google or something, but never had that before. It did it automatically when I signed in to Google.

what was the serial number of yours...b6?
Bought mine in Singapore last week, no problems whatsoever. Is from the recent manufactured batch, B60K serial, TW firmware. Love it, no regrets!
Bought mine Saturday at Compusa , went B&M in case I had to take it back. i have a slight amount of light bleed at the bottom middle right. Not sure if I'll take it back, it doesn't really bother me, but I did just pay for a new product so it should be perfect right?
I returned my first one due to a dead pixel and minor light bleed in the bottom middle of the screen. I just got my new one in yesterday and I can not find a single issue with it. Serial number b60.

Yes the one I got yesterday was a serial b6. The one I got today is a b5.
They both have\had very slight light bleed (at the bottom) but I think I can deal with it.
This new b5 is a little worse than the b6 but almost not so much to really even bring it up, but I will. So I would say that it is a crap shoot which sucks. I turned it on at the store but it wasn't dark enough to see the problem. I have seen some that are very bad that I couldn't live with but both I have had I could/will live with; unless they get worse over time.

I would normally agree with your logic about it being perfect, but with these IPS screens it's very hard to totally do away with the light bleed. Even the iPad2, as much as Apple praises their build quality, has light bleed. Mine did and so did my wife's.
Hell, my 46" Samsung LCD has some light bleed in the corners (we refer to them as "flashights").
I think if you get a TF with minimal light bleed, mine is very small at the bottom, you are doing well.
So mine is a B40K series. It sounds like if I can find a B60K series it might be worth it to exchange?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I am going to take my in for a replacement @ Fry's tomorrow as well! If I call ahead of time...will they tell me if they have a B60 in stock? =/ Seems like there are more success stories with the B60...I have light bleeding out all over the bottom...and on the left.
Some people doesn't seem to know what light bleeding is, so i will not believe anyone saying their TF is just perfect without seeing actual pictures of the screen, in max brightness and low light.
That happend on other forums a lot, and after explanations a lot of them admitted that they were wrong.
Same thing with unbalanced speakers, creaking, screen responsiveness etc.
Or... maybe not all of you there are as perfectionists as some of us are, and that's fine. But don't make us envy your perfect products.
Mine (B5) also has one light bleeding spot on the middle bottom (about an inch from the edge) and the screen responsiveness isn't as great s on SGS II or iPad2 (or maybe it's Honeycomb's fault), bothers me a little, but overall I am happy with my Transformer. It's making my life easier a lot on four aspects: saving my laptop (on which i spent a lot and doesn't deserve to be stressed sometimes all day long just for browsing; I am saving it for real work and there are days now when i don't use it at all; also, TF is way better than my wife's iPad 2 on this reason), my smartphone (who's battery now last for 2 full days because of transferring the light browsing, reading and media consuming in bed to the Transformer), my injured back (from using the laptop at desk all day) and my eyes (beacuse of the reason no. 2, with the smartphone replacement for some stuff).
LE: Conclusion: Stop complaining or bragging about it, and just make it worth it's money using it.
Has anyone yet commented the speaker balance in the B60K batch? More experience sharing on the light bleeding wll be appreciated too.
My B50K has passed its refund windows, but I could sell and buy a new B60K, and lose about $100. I need more info to decide...

Said perfectly. I've had a B40, a B50, and 2 B60s. ALL had light bleed to various degrees.
The B60s seem a lot better but they still have light bleed. While I don't doubt there may be a few transformers out there with no light bleed, I'm definitely skeptical of the claim that someone has a transformer with no light bleed whatsoever.
I do a lot of reading on my device and I like to read with white text on a black background so light bleed shows up immediately. The light bleed on the B60 I am keeping is minimal enough that it doesn't bother me even in this condition.
Bought a Note yesterday from phones4u, had to go through 4 of them before I found one without any dead pixels on. Just summat for prospective buyers to look out for, check the screens before you leave the store. Well worth it though, awesome phone
Just FYI, in the UK, if an item developed fault within 21 days after purchase, the customer can demand either a full refund or exchange.
I'm not sure if full refund works on contract phone, but customer have the right to exchange a faulty phone for a new one from the store within 21 days.
P.S. Enjoy your Note, I had my since Nov and still loving it. This come from someone who change phones every 3 to 5 months.
Yup, well the one I got now is perfect, I reckon they must of had a dodgy batch as this was apparently the first one of a different consignment.

Try going into a dark room and put a full black background and see if you notice any dark splotches. There are some Android wallpaper like No background I believe. This is a common problem with SAMOLED HD devices from what I've read. Don't know if you can get a replacement for that.
EDIT: Oh yes, what Note did you get Ceramic White or Dark Blue?
No, that is somewhat of a feature of Amoled displays, however, it's a damn sight better a display than the one on the galaxy nexus. I had one of those before this and I'm reasonably impressed with this one.
Oh! I got the blue one

I also went through 3 with handtec....all with dead pixels...
5 days into ownership....dead pixels
What does a dead pixel look like? I get mine soon also and never owned a AMOLED screen before.
I have had a single dead pixel since it arrived 5 weeks ago (white 16GB). But I don't care much because the pixels of the Note are so small that I don't notice it 99% of the time even though it's on a rather central position. Only rarely when I watch movies that make the screen go very bright for a while I happen to see it without searching for it. But it never bothered me when browsing the net or reading mail although I can see it on a white background when I look out for it and know where it is. I have had a SGS I for ~20 months before which didn't have any dead pixels.
Hopefully my white Note doesn't develop any dead pixels like my GS2 had before after a few months.
Anyone recently purchase a new unit that has no light bleed or does this problem still exist?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I purchased a unit two days ago that turned out to have 1 dead pixel and an additional two dark "spots" which i assumed were a small group of dead pixels bunched together (maybe 2-3) and some lightbleed on the top of the unit. Additionally, it had somewhat of a "bump" along the side of one of the edges of the tablet, so if you placed it in landscape on the table you could make it rock back and forth (rather than standing still and sturdy as it should). That was a unit from the CCO batch, so I'm guessing December 2012.
I exchanged it for a new one yesterday and this one is FLAWLESS. I have NO light bleed, NO dead pixels or dark spots, NOTHING. This thing is absolutely perfect. No screen lift, NOTHING. I'm literally so happy with it. Worth noting is that this flawless one is from the CBO batch, so November 2012 I'm guessing. Absolutely flawless.
I guess I was unlucky with the first one since the CCO batches should be the best one's as they're the latest.

I wouldn't hang myself up on light bleed; it depends a lot on how bad it is. Most of it is bareable imo, but as with all faults, you can never unsee them once you've seen them. If you aren't happy you have every right to get a tablet you are happy with I'd be much more hung up on dead/stuck pixels. Those things are literally in your face 24/7 once you see them once.
Good luck!
I'm on my 4th phone, and this one is by far the worst. I busted out my Galaxy S4 to compare, and it's night and day difference. The S4 (also super amoled) is completely uniform color temp, and has almost zero color shift when you tilt the phone. Every 6P I've had has some type of pink to blue color gradient, and shifts to blue when I tilt it just a tiny bit forward (like everytime I'm reaching for the notification tray). I'm starting to think people with "zero issues" are either smoking the hype pipe, or having a completely different experience. All 4 of my phones are 64GB Graphite, with build dates of 10/25 or 10/27. It seemed there were a disproportionate number of 64GB Graphites reporting these issues. I'm thinking I keep getting phones from the same crappy batch(es). I'm wondering if there is any correlation between the color/size variants and these defects.
I'm considering returning the phone for good and either reordering in a month or two, or getting a 5x to hold me over until next years Nexus. I got Nexus Protect and the whole shebang with the 6P because I was planning on keeping it 2+ years.
2x bad 64gb graphites for me. 3rd one seems to be better, but not perfect. I'm not sure if I'll RMA it or not. Like you said it seems like every screen has issues and it's just a matter of how bad it is. The 3rd one isn't too bad at least.

Frost 64GB and same as you, no defects but I need to check if I got a random reboot while asleep as it asked me for the secure boot password when I unlocked it this morning. Strangely, once I did this, the phone appeared to have been exactly where I'd left it, instead of going through the usual boot up process of loading home screens, widgets etc.
I do wish to clarify that I do find this device to shift colors ever so slightly when not looking straight on. It is nothing major and I put it down to Google/Huawei not sourcing a good panel. It is the obvious shift expected from lower end panels due to changes in viewing angles. I do not classify that as a defect. I will post pictures of this in another thread in General.
At the most extreme near 180 angle, I can see some green rainbow effect. I don't know if this is due to my cheap screen protector or it has something to do with the Gorilla Glass treatment on the panel. It really is a non issue for me. I NEVER noticed ANY of this until I came along the forums and read people complaining about defects, making me go LOOK for them on mine. This doesn't mean others aren't suffering from defects.

Mine had the freeze and reboot issues. Did it 7 times in the span of 5 days. Put it on safe mode and still rebooted. Factory reset the device and clean install of apps and rebooted once. After that one random freeze, the device hasn't had one in 48 hrs and counting but still rma'd for a new device to make myself feel more at ease knowing that there is no internal hardware issues.

Not had any reboots at all but my 3 phones had increasingly worse displays. Alu 64gb, manufacturrd 18/10, 28/10,28/10. The original 18/10 was the best of them all but still not good with pink hue on the left side of the screen.

I also have the color shifting, but this is probably caused by the tempered glass screen protector. anyway, I always look a the device with an angle of 90 degree.
Thanks mods for cleaning up the hate speech. It amazes me people think we should be grateful and accept any crap Google ships. The way QA works, it's not an issue unless the customers make it an issue. If Google can save money and use grade B panels, and their customers don't seem to mind, then next year they might use grade C panels.
This is what my 6P looks like on the google homepage at normal brightness levels: https://goo.gl/photos/z77YPDta247Jh3Zt5
Last I checked, there is no gradient on the google homepage that goes from pink to green. And if you're curious, here is what that looks like next to a Nexus 5X: https://goo.gl/photos/3huN7dPbeBKqrodf7
Every one of my 6Ps has a color gradient when looking directly at the screen. That's not taking into account the crazy rainbow effect when you tilt the display just a few degrees any direction. I had multiple Galaxy S4s, which also have a samsung amoled screen, and they are all completely uniform and have close to zero color shift at normal viewing angles.
So to everyone that thinks we are just picky @#[email protected], in all my years and hundreds of consumer electronic devices I've owned, I've only ever RMAed two other devices: a plasma TV that buzzed like a bumblebee, and an og PSP that had dead pixels and completely outrageous back light bleed.
I've asked this before, and I'm interested in giving the 6p a THIRD try, but hesitant.
If anyone has purchased recently, either from Google or Amazon, is the red/pink screen still an issue? I've had two that were really bad (about 50% of the screen was pinkish); I feel like third time is the charm, but I don't know.
Thoughts? I still have the N6, debating between 6p or the S7 Edge (for a daily phone).

It will always be an issue, it's inherent to the manufacturing process for AMOLED displays.

Not entirely.
The Note5 or S6/7 people don't complain about redness or pink hues. Also, some of the 6Ps are claiming no discoloration at all. There is obviously something wrong, and I'm curious if it's going to be fixed or has at least gotten better with new batches.
I've seen you post before about revisions. I'm not sure it's working the way youre thinking. The n4 had hardware revisions as did the n5, but neither were for screens that im aware of. Still, no issue with mine, 1st day preorder in UK for 64gb graphite.
I don't notice a pink hue at all...I had the 32gb back in November, returned it and got the 64gb and have been using that since and not once on the old or new have I noticed a pink hue. My screen looks more "crisp" next to my girlfriends G3 but she doesnt notice a pink hue either. Idk though...lol
No pink hue for me either. No complaints about this phone to date. Ordered the first week it came out.
Better off spending your time looking for a phone with LCD. My first 6P came with uniformed display then a few months later I got a replacement for unrelated issue. Top half was pinkish, so I tried 4 other replacements and were the same but the latest one has perfect buttons (late November build) so I keep it. I don't see the pink anymore ever since I stopped caring. What I realized though is that the original phone's display was really yellow when compared to replacement. I didn't think it would turn yellow this quickly from just web browsing and social.
