Since a week, everytime I install a new ROM, I have no wifi.
As before I do a wipe of system, data, cache before flashing the new ROM. When it boots with the Google account configuration, no way to switch on the wifi. I skip the configuration, and in the settings, the system can't turn it on...
If a reinstall an old backup, the wifi is working great...
I have try RR, CM13s, same problem!
I have also try to install the ROM over a working backup, doing only a cache and data wipe. Same issue...
Do anyone have an idea?
Thanks
MY SOLUTION :
if you have your wifi mac adress to 02:00:00:00:00:00 and not turning on
reinstalling custom rom, miui.zip, fastboot flashing miui don"t work in my case
my solution : flashing MIUI with WiaoMiFlash(beta) in EDL mode then after a first boot (very long) and a customization, i install TWRP, made a COMPLETE backup (in case of next bug), installing custom rom, and bingo !
after 2 weeks 1 MONTH ! of sh*t my redmi'wifi is working again with custom roms
i've try a clean install via fastboot of miui dev rom, wifi is ok
then install AOKP (or wathever), and my wifi's mac adress is 02:00:00:00:00:00 => no wifi connection :'(
any idea guys ?

I don't think it will solve the problem because the system can't even access the wifi HW because of the wrong MAC adress
In my case MAC is 38:a4:es:73:d9:c7 but Android see 02:00:00:00:00:00
Hi @iCarolo,
I got your PM, but I don't know why I am not able to reply.
By the way, I just created a flashable zip to fix this issue, try this file: https://uploads.to/3kxvkr1eohy1
I've not checked it, so kindly inform me about how it's working.

I finaly could try your files, but still not working...
But, I took a copy of the files from my miui backup, then copy over the files of the new ROM, and that fix my problem!
I really don't know why now I have to do that on custom ROMs...
The files I have copy are from:
System/etc/WiFi and
System/etc/firmware/wlan/prima
then CHMOD 755 those files
Anyone with a " true " solution?
Cause I think I will have to do that each time I flash a new ROM...
another one have same problem, his solution

also, it looks like it works without the workaround with that last build from https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...&postcount=812
the zip file have some more files in it...

Hi. The best solution is:
1. Make a backup of the EFS partition in TWRP/CWM before installing a new ROM.
2. After installation, go and restore the same.
Cheers.
I'm currently experiencing the same issue since I've installed LineageOS. Isn't there an easy way to solve this issue yet?
Tried to flash NON-HLOS.bin via Fastboot thinking it could work but nothing changed.

I have never installed NativeSD but..
Is the ROM you installed Tytungs ICS? If it is, the kernel is already included - you need not I stall it after the fact. Maybe that created a problem.
Fir the wifi look for wifi fix on Google Play. It may help.

Does the device connect to wifi when not in ICS?
Have you checked the obvious things?
In settings / wifi / advanced make sure you allow for weak signal and the wifi region code.
ICS will have a different mac address; make sure the router is allowing it.
Clear cache, fix permissions, the usual steps.

As I said, I really don't know that much about NativeSD so I am only guessing..
Is it possible to get a logcat from the time when you try to turn on the wi-fi?
There are several apps on Google Play which will save the log as a text file and you can upload it to the ICS dev thread for Tytung or someone else to look at.
You can also try to flash an old wi-fi firmware but I have no idea what that may do. It is possible that it will not work and you will have to do a clean install after it. If you want to give it a try download BCM4329_firmware_v4.218.248.18_.zip - 1.66 MB and flash through recovery.
Last, I would try to remove the entire Nativesd ROM and start over clean. I don't think the ROM has a wifi issue in all Nativesd installations so my last resort would be to completely clean up and reinstall.
Try some other rom to see if your wifi works, try some stable roms, like cm9 or viper,
Or just reinstall rom using another kernel.
sent from hell ( its warm over here 10000000 C ) using Xperia ARC
It started suddenly a day after I installed a custom rom,all i get is wifi is turning on...same for bluetooth,3g works tho.I tried factory reset, same problem,i also tried installing another custom rom but same. When I intalled the new custom rom I did all the wipes needed(format system data cache...).Do you think it's a hardware issue?
If you're still running the custom ROM, try to reinstall it but do not do the wipes, just reinstall and reboot. Good luck.

Which Note 3 do you have and which custom ROM are you using? Try installing a different or stock ROM and see if the problem still persists.

What do you mean default ???
Default is whatever you flashed last .
You have done something that has broken it firmware wise hopefully .
So i suggest you boot to recovery Mounts and Storage .
Format system data cache .
Boot to download mode and flash stock rom through Odin .

Say According to the technical service is that my problem is hardware (wifi-bluetooth module) is the same module for both functions. It is difficult to repair because if it goes wrong you lose your phone or get a new motherboard.
Your problem seems software but does not work with stock firmware.
you have to buy another phone or change the motherboard if you use a lot these functions.
There is a possibility that the EFS folder was modified.
so it is recommended to back up this folder periodically changing ROM
I excused my English (google translator) I think the idea is understood ...

Been using rooted stock roms for forever, but found myself lacking the need for wifi calling as of late, so I've been open to flashing something with more pizaz. I tried flashing both Dark Unicorn and Blisspop today, but neither would allow me to enabled cellular networks (it would toggle on, then back off by itself a few seconds later). I'm on T-mobile, I tried all three APN's that were pre-loaded. The notification drop-down would show it was connected to T-mobile, but it wouldn't show a data signal, and had an exclamation point over the cell signal. Anyone have suggestions on how to rectify this, or is this expected?

When you say "copy rom into phone", it seems there's a chance I'd loose data on internal storage? :-/
And what about if I want to restore back my current rom - is there anything that needs to be undone? (thanks for the replies, btw)

i recommend balstagator twrp to prevent display damage cause of heat.http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705
when in recovery yes delete all if you have stuff in your phone if they are pics just move them to pc, if those are apps use titanium paid app that will back up, app and data like whats app all conversations. if its only like pics videos moved them to pc, if apps using the free version of titanium back up ypu cant restore batches, musst must do one installation at a time..
its always better to install a fresh installation that means wipe all.
to be honest i dont do nandroid that is what is called in twrp back up,i think i did once and it didnt worked, it does work if i want to mess with rom and if it fails or i get problem doinga restore brings back the way it was just like a restore point. but am not really sure if you wipe all and do a nandroid restore it would bring back the rom, as am typing i did one am trying a ifferent rom.. ill see if it works..
ok i tried 2 roms 1 stock custom, and cm13 so i just restore my nandroid and it worked. ive selected all in back up. wipe all then copy back the twrp back up and restore it. it works ...
ok i got some folders missing like dcim.well most just copy important folders like music videos and pics to pc then once you restore it copy them back.

Maybe it's related with the modem, look for that and get some information how to flash the correct one.
I don't know what custom ROMs you had problems with but some need specific firmware to be flashed in order for things to work right. Usually that information is somewhere in the description of the ROM features and sometimes download links are also included. When you flashed custom ROMs did you clean flash them? You need to wipe the cache, system and data when changing ROMs. You also might need to flash back to stock before flashing some custom ROMs but if that's the case it should say that in the instructions for the ROM.

Yes im sure the answer is actually as simple as wiping the device completely. Wipe all partitions and then format data. When formatting data if you forget to fix your internal storage rights you cant download anything so make sure you go to advanced then fix contents in twrp before installing stock oxygen. Once it is done boot the phone and let it go and try to connect to wifi. If you can then wipe your phone out and reinstall LAOS 15

Yea use twrp 3.1.1-1 to install the latest stock 4.5.13. make sure you wipe everything and re format everything. Just drop your necessary files onto a secondary source like a pc or google drive. After u wipe that stuff out reboot back to recovery. Go to advanced on the main menu and and fix contents. Do not skip this step or you wont have storage permissions which is necessary for installing roms properly. After that ensure everything is mounted on the mount section in the main menu. U should see a "firmware" option added as well, be sure that is checked too. Install stock 4.5.13 and see if wifi works. It should, if not it could be a hardware issue.

Gonna do a second post for another manner on this topic. Just use stock. Aint nothing wrong with it, its actually beautiful. Dont listen to whoever says its bloated or whatever. Its all allowed to be disabled if u dont want it. Stock rom with stock kernel is far better than any rom or kernel out there. Think of it this way, you have a device that an entire company made sure the software worked on that specific device as opposed to a single person or a group of 5 or so people made software that needs to run on any device. IE Lineage/Aosp and whatever customized stock oxygenos is out there. I use stock and stock kernel with kernel adiutor to disable some kernel features i dont need like input boost for example to save a lot of juice. I always test certain scripts for stock oxygen on the 3t and the 5 to maximize battery. I play with linux a lot so i merely tweak a few settings and turn some stuff off and on and run whatever for about a week to see which script works best for battery life and performance. Gotta say i cant pull certain SoTs or performance tests off stock because of instability or them being simply inferior. Flashing a bunch of things is cool but try to simmer down and come back to stock after youve exhausted all possibility of gaining more battery time.
I do have WiFi on stock roms and all OOS roms, just a heads up. Every time I flash them I am good on WiFi.
I'll be sure to check out the fix contents button in recovery.
So to flash CM roms and AOSP I should do this...
Flash Stock 4.5.13 > wipe > format > fix contents> check mounts (firmware checked) > flash custom roms

Hello,
I recently had security and quick settings issues after installing an update to a ROM. I was shown this method where I would remove the user account(user 0) and it's worked in the past. However, this time, I did it and I now can't connect to any networks. My mobile radio won't turn on from *#*#4636#*#*
Nothing works. Can someone please help?
Thank you.

It was after applying an RR update.
The method is as follows: navigate to the user folder and remove the user. I don't why this happens but sometimes when the phone boots up after an updater or reflash the pass code doesn't work and the user can't access quick settings or developer options because it isn't the admin account or something to that effect.
So I was told a method to fix that is to remove the user 0 folder. I've don't it before and it's worked flawlessly. Google redoes the setup process after boot but recognizes all accounts already synced and everything is the same.
This time though, after boot, I noticed I didn't have service, so I waited and waited but still had nothing. I dialed *#*#4636#*#* and went into the menu but even after turning on the mobile radio multiple times, it never saves the setting. So I'm stuck now.

I solved it by clean flashing the stock ROM and then turned the radio on. It didn't turn on initially then I turned it on and rebooted immediately. Problem got solved.
U can first try by turning radio on in custom ROM and the reboot the phone immediately by staying on same page.
If that didn't work , stock ROM method will work.
Be sure to backup ur data in case I flash stock ROM coz clean flash is recommended.

How did you get back to stock. I've been having issues with miflash tool. It didn't work with the custom rom so going to attempt via stock. Thank you so much.

Backup up your data first. (Internal storage)
And then attempt anything u want.
Download mi flash tool from here : https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B_PrkMiyehZuNW9uQzl4b252ZzA
Download the Oreo 8.0 ROM from here :https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wFzbQ8MyJfprFlGyfIfjKo_cGxX2tGWQ/view
Install mi flash tool and usb drivers.
Extract the ROM once , you will find a file , rename it to .zip extension and again unzip it.
Remove phones password and tick OEM unlock in developers settings.
Reboot phone to fastboot and using vol up + power key. And connect to pc.
Open mi flash and click refresh , it should show ur device there with some code (not name).
Browse to your finally extracted file (a folder it will be named after the ROM )
Now in bottom right chose clean all and lock
And click flash In mi flash
Wait for it to reboot automatically and do not disturb in between.
Then follow the steps in above mentioned steps in my earlier post

This worked! Thank you so much!!
My only issue now is restoring from my backup since when I try it it then restarts and I have the issue again. Something may be corrupt within my user folder.

Copy your internal data to a pc or some drive instead of making twrp backup. Then after clean flashing stock , paste your data back to phone.
But will it copy/paste the root directory or application data?
