Maybe it's related with the modem, look for that and get some information how to flash the correct one.
I don't know what custom ROMs you had problems with but some need specific firmware to be flashed in order for things to work right. Usually that information is somewhere in the description of the ROM features and sometimes download links are also included. When you flashed custom ROMs did you clean flash them? You need to wipe the cache, system and data when changing ROMs. You also might need to flash back to stock before flashing some custom ROMs but if that's the case it should say that in the instructions for the ROM.

if you are trying to use lineageos 15 for your daily driver you are insane. Just use stock oxygen or freedomOS. Oreo is not official on OP5 yet you cant expect to use it and have it be flawless. Most apps i use dont even run on Oreo when i tried it. just revert.

Yes im sure the answer is actually as simple as wiping the device completely. Wipe all partitions and then format data. When formatting data if you forget to fix your internal storage rights you cant download anything so make sure you go to advanced then fix contents in twrp before installing stock oxygen. Once it is done boot the phone and let it go and try to connect to wifi. If you can then wipe your phone out and reinstall LAOS 15

This also happens when trying to install other roms such as AICP and Slimrom 7.
Any ideas?

Yea use twrp 3.1.1-1 to install the latest stock 4.5.13. make sure you wipe everything and re format everything. Just drop your necessary files onto a secondary source like a pc or google drive. After u wipe that stuff out reboot back to recovery. Go to advanced on the main menu and and fix contents. Do not skip this step or you wont have storage permissions which is necessary for installing roms properly. After that ensure everything is mounted on the mount section in the main menu. U should see a "firmware" option added as well, be sure that is checked too. Install stock 4.5.13 and see if wifi works. It should, if not it could be a hardware issue.

Gonna do a second post for another manner on this topic. Just use stock. Aint nothing wrong with it, its actually beautiful. Dont listen to whoever says its bloated or whatever. Its all allowed to be disabled if u dont want it. Stock rom with stock kernel is far better than any rom or kernel out there. Think of it this way, you have a device that an entire company made sure the software worked on that specific device as opposed to a single person or a group of 5 or so people made software that needs to run on any device. IE Lineage/Aosp and whatever customized stock oxygenos is out there. I use stock and stock kernel with kernel adiutor to disable some kernel features i dont need like input boost for example to save a lot of juice. I always test certain scripts for stock oxygen on the 3t and the 5 to maximize battery. I play with linux a lot so i merely tweak a few settings and turn some stuff off and on and run whatever for about a week to see which script works best for battery life and performance. Gotta say i cant pull certain SoTs or performance tests off stock because of instability or them being simply inferior. Flashing a bunch of things is cool but try to simmer down and come back to stock after youve exhausted all possibility of gaining more battery time.
I do have WiFi on stock roms and all OOS roms, just a heads up. Every time I flash them I am good on WiFi.
I'll be sure to check out the fix contents button in recovery.
So to flash CM roms and AOSP I should do this...
Flash Stock 4.5.13 > wipe > format > fix contents> check mounts (firmware checked) > flash custom roms

Phoenix Rom ToolBox bug
Hello and good day, I'm new in this forum and to installing custom roms. I've encountered some force closing in toolbox when I tried putting a different app in it. After selecting the desired app and clicking save, I cannot edit the toolbox anymore. Please help . Thanks in advance.
Do you want to disable toast altogether? @Shepherd? You can alter these via xposed modules, can't for the life of me remember which one, I know xui mod allows you to change them but I don't know about removing then completely. Try and see.

A custom rom is usually flashed via either the internal or external memories, I prefer the external as you have the flexibility to remove it and copy another over if your phone is in a non bootable state.
Once you're rooted and have a custom recovery installed all you need to do is copy it over and flash it, no need for odin at that point, unless you want to flash a modem or bootloader.
Perhaps when android 5 comes along we'll be updating both the modem and bootloader but until that time you're just fine with what you have, a super wipe bare in mind will wipe everything, no OS left at all, so keep your ROM on your SD Card so you can flash it later.
Only reason you would need a super or mega wipe is if theres parts of your OS that have become undeletable or corrupt.
I wouldn't bother, just clean up your SD card (Internal) whilst connected to your PC and then perform a full wipe from within recovery and cache and dalvic, then flash a rom.
But if things are functional you don't even need to do that.
---------- Post added at 12:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 AM ----------
What state is your phone currently in?
IF it's stock then you will need to follow the instructions which are on the Foxhound main thread, I believe it's copied from another thread, NeatRom, if you follow it correctly your warranty will remain intact.
IF you're already rooted and have a custom recovery installed then simply copy the rom to your SD and flash it via recovery, you may need a separate kernel in order for the phone to boot properly. So grab that before wiping.
Always make a back up so you can revert back if things go wrong.

Thank you sir for the response. I was wondering if making the phone's internal a full wipe by using a script or something could really wipe everything inside the phones internal memory. As i've read here in the forums, The said script would wipe the whole internal memory therefore creating a lesser compatibility issue custom ROM after flashing. As I've stated earlier, I really wanted Phoenix ROM due to it's flavor and features. Though NeatROM is quite good itself( I'm not a developer ). For now, Phoenix ROM is okay after experiencing a bug with the ToolBox , then again i was able to remove the issue by doing a factory reset and the ToolBox feature was okay. So far so good as i can say proudly. Thank for the excellent instructions. Good day.

No problem by the way, I only suggested neat rom as it has good guidance.
If you're already on Foxhound (phoenix) then in my opinion you have the best of the bunch, just wait for raffa to update it, the next rom will bring a good few changes and a lot of fixes.
Personally i find this version to be more than ok v1.1

USB Mass Storage
Hi.. since Android 4.4 restricts UMS Mode that some apps doesnt get UMS mode working... so is there a kernel that makes UMS Mode working on G900F?
thanks
Very nice rom
At home no worries
all functional
thank you very much
My Nexus 7 2012 (Grouper) is really show, sometimes unusable and I have to Power off and on again.
I had Stock 4.4 installed when I first noticed the problem, them Android 5 came up and I downloaded from google, cleaned all partitions with TWRP and installed Android L with ADB. But unfortunately it got even worse. then I cleaned all partitions again, /data, /system, /cache, I marked all options on TWRP and installed Android 5 again but it was still slow (sometimes it seems in normal speed, but more often is slow).
So I installed Cyanogem mod, currently version is 11-20141206-NIGHTLY-grouper
It is faster with CM, but I still get speed problems sometimes like switching between apps, unlocking the tablet, etc...
I really want to stay in Stock Android 5, but it is too slow, sometimes impossible to use.
Can someone give me any suggestions on what to do ?
I don't care if I have to reset, reinstall, clear, etc
If you want any more informations I can give.

Have you tried to format it to F2FS? That's a file system optimised for flash storage which usually helps a lot with speed issues.
Short how-to (there are longer versions around, search for them if necessary):
You need the latest TWRP (2.8.2.0, I think) and a F2FS-compatible rom (and maybe a kernel), look for the latter in the forums. I use this version of a 5.0-Rom which has been modified for F2FS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56813573&postcount=491 (it includes a f2fs-compatible kernel)
Then make a backup of ALL your data (including /sdcard) to an external device (PC, usb storage, or whatever), otherwise you'll lose it. Save the rom on this external device, too.
In TWRP go to advanced wipe, there you can select the partitions system, data and cache one after the other to format & repair them. Or see this post for a longer explanation.
Afterwards you can copy your stuff back from the backup and flash the rom & gapps as always.

I am going to give it a try. actually I have tried it already but couldn't do many testing yet.
Which ROM you think is best for f2fs support and is Android 5 ?
I wanted to do my own, get the original rom, install in f2fs and change the kernel to a compatible one, but I couldn't figure out how to install the original image without it formatting back to ext4. I guess it might not be as easy as just this right ?
I would like to modify it by myself because I wanted a rom with f2fs with as few modifications as possible.
I don't like roms that have everythng stipped out
have tried ubuntu touch too, but it is frequently freezing the tablet, the screen gets flickering. I think Ubuntu touch does not support grouper.

You need to do a bit more than changing the kernel. I've never done it, better ask someone else, maybe the guy who converted BSZAosp and Rastapop (links here and in my previous post). He wrote about it in those threads.

Yes, at least not officially.
Mine started to have problems on kitkat. It would freeze, I could not turn it on when in standby and it would take forever to switch between users (have 3 users). I updated it to Lollipop (OTA sideload) and it became even worst. I tried factory reset and it didn't help. Next morning it would not start - there just was Android on screen and it would stay like that forever. I tried to unlock bootloader to sideload factory image but it didn't work. Luckily, I had warranty (it's 2 years here) so I took it to shop. They changed motherboard and it came with 4.2 installed from shop. OTA came to 4.4.4 and I sideloaded 5.0 again. It still was slow, especially when I added two more users. So I disabled system apps I don't use (on all user accounts), turned off location and forced gpu rendering in developer options and now it works great...
Been using rooted stock roms for forever, but found myself lacking the need for wifi calling as of late, so I've been open to flashing something with more pizaz. I tried flashing both Dark Unicorn and Blisspop today, but neither would allow me to enabled cellular networks (it would toggle on, then back off by itself a few seconds later). I'm on T-mobile, I tried all three APN's that were pre-loaded. The notification drop-down would show it was connected to T-mobile, but it wouldn't show a data signal, and had an exclamation point over the cell signal. Anyone have suggestions on how to rectify this, or is this expected?

When you say "copy rom into phone", it seems there's a chance I'd loose data on internal storage? :-/

i recommend balstagator twrp to prevent display damage cause of heat.http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705
when in recovery yes delete all if you have stuff in your phone if they are pics just move them to pc, if those are apps use titanium paid app that will back up, app and data like whats app all conversations. if its only like pics videos moved them to pc, if apps using the free version of titanium back up ypu cant restore batches, musst must do one installation at a time..
its always better to install a fresh installation that means wipe all.
to be honest i dont do nandroid that is what is called in twrp back up,i think i did once and it didnt worked, it does work if i want to mess with rom and if it fails or i get problem doinga restore brings back the way it was just like a restore point. but am not really sure if you wipe all and do a nandroid restore it would bring back the rom, as am typing i did one am trying a ifferent rom.. ill see if it works..
ok i tried 2 roms 1 stock custom, and cm13 so i just restore my nandroid and it worked. ive selected all in back up. wipe all then copy back the twrp back up and restore it. it works ...
ok i got some folders missing like dcim.well most just copy important folders like music videos and pics to pc then once you restore it copy them back.

good, i have used blisspop i like it very much, i also had use in the past tipsy and tesla, but i havent had the chance to try them on g2.
I flashed my Moto G4 Play with Lineage OS. Everything was working fine until I unlocked my phone and a linked opened automatically in Chrome. This happens everytime I unlock my phone. I also get other kind of ads. When I press the activity button to see which app is responsible, the ad disappears.
What should I do to fix this?
I was thinking about flashing crDroid but noticed "DO A DATA WIPE " in the instructions. What does this mean? How can one do this? And what are dirty and clean flashes?
Not sure exactly about what is causing your ads, but clean flashing either another rom or the same one should fix it. To answer your question, this is what you wipe in recovery mode before flashing a rom for the first time (usually in TWRP):
data, cache, dalvik, system
This is what is called a clean flash, because you also wipe the data partition (which is where all your apps and their respective data is stored); if you were to do a dirty flash, common for updating roms, this is what you would wipe before flashing:
cache, dalvik, system (I wipe system because old habits die hard, I believe most - if not all - roms do this from the zip already).
So, dirty flashing (the same or a newer/older build of the rom you're in, otherwise you're just asking for trouble) would most likely not fix your issue as it is probably caused by an app you need to get rid of. Either clean flash the same rom, or go for another one. crDroid is nice, I'm using it with the heliox kernel. It has adaway built in so even if your ads issue does come back you might still be able to get rid of it natively.

Usually the cause of this kind of ads is some app you installed, and not the rom itself.
I would uninstall apps to find out the culprit.

Turned out to be Adblock Plus. The irony.
I have some torrents downloading on the internal storage. As soon as they are downloaded I will do a clean flash as the problem has resurfaced. Except android device manager, apps like greenify have their administrator access revoked. However, the ads still come.

Hope I helped!

How do I flash a kernel? Is it safe for a noob like me? Does the kernel have adaway or the ROM? Because if the ROM has adaway I would prefer not to mess with the kernel.
Thanks a lot for explaining what a clean and dirty flash is and how they are different!

Kernel flashing is similar to rom flashing; I think the best way to flash a kernel is to flash it right after clean installing the rom (this is, do all the wipes, flash the rom, the gapps, whatever addon, and the kernel); though I wouldn't call it safe (since none of this potentially is, if you don't pay attention), I wouldn't advise against it. It's part of the whole experience, and kernels can really improve your phone. In this case, adaway's included in the rom, not the kernel. So you should be fine without Heliox. But you should try it someday! Just remember to keep a backup of your data in case anything goes sideways. Good luck!
I took no backup of the kernel (my bad), flashed it after wiping the data and then I installed wiped everything and then I flashed the kernel again, the ROM (crDroid) and gapps. Working like a charm. Thanks!

Thank you for posting this rom. Had trouble finding it since it wasnt on the development page. Ive gone through about 7 roms and none were 100% working and I had a lot of trouble finding a way to get back to stock 21s for my X522. All the custom roms Ive tried either have a broken camera, missing cell broadcast, or hangouts wouldnt work on it when trying to make a call or use video chat. This is the only stable working rom Ive came across so far.

I'm assuming if I remove root the font will be back to normal? On some applications the font is way too big. (I assume due to the Instructions given)

Answer is yes.
Well, if anyone is willing to help. I removed SuperSU and tried to replace it with magisk but I can't because my internal storage isn't showing up and it ask for a password to decrypt.

Try format data to remove encryption.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I know there is an issue with zoom being forced on when the phone is rooted. However my phone is randomly switching back and forth between zoom and normal by itself and it's most obvious in both chrome and Gmail where the text being a different size when I open it up. I've tried the build prop fix but it's still switching between both modes.

Wasn't able to flash anything. Kept getting errors and eventually couldn't see any of my stuff again. It's all good though.
