How will CM DEATH impact A7? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

If you have thoughts on this topic, please share.
It seems unfortunate from my view. Was there a lesson to be learned? Will the new one carry on?

I think LineageOS will carry on the legacy. It will hault development for almost every office until LineageOS gets finished though.

Besides rebranding, It won't affect the A7 at all. The person who's been working on CM13 has nothing to do with Cyanogen.

Is there a Remix OS port for Nexus Player?

In paper our Nexus player is much more capable than Remix mini and so i was wondering if there has been any work porting the remix os to our device?
When I found out about Remix OS this morning, I had the exact same thought. Sadly, google only turns up this thread, so I guess it hasn't gone anywhere yet.

It says here that it's available for x86 devices - like the Nexus player - but all i can find are some PC based installation instructions here. I'm wondering if it flashes the same way as other ROMS like Lollirock? I'm too much of a newbie to know any more. One good thing to note, however, is that you can purchase a whole 'Remix mini' for just $70!!
I was thinking the same thing but with only 1GB of RAM, the Nexus Player isn't going to like doing multitasking.
(I know they sell a model of their MiniPC with 1GB of RAM but I still think it's not enough to provide a decent experience)
I've been wondering the same for a while. Regardless of the 1GB RAM, I think it would run fairly good for light web browsing. The developers themselves have a device for sale with the same amount of RAM and running Remix OS, so i see no reason for this not to exist
I actually wrote to them and linked them to this page to show that there was an interest for this, bringing up how they've ported it to the Nexus 9 and 10, and they actually replied with
"Greetings from Jide!
Thank you for your Feedback. I have marked it as a feature request. Our engineering team will take care it. Please don't hesitate to let us know, if you need further assistance.
Best,
-The Remix Team"
So there may actually be some hope for this!

Well I'm really hoping for this to materialize. This whole day I've been using the latest beta on my Mac, like for real this time, and this makes way more sense than Android TV in terms of usability and compatibility, is more open and way less limited than android tv.

Snapchat Lenses feature

Does the new Snapchat Lenses feature work for anyone? It does not for my 9301 on Resurrection Remix 5.5.5 .
I got answers.
the problem is that for android users, it might be a while. I was looking at a survey that said only 2.5% of android users could use the new lenses. I think apple and snapchat are collaborating but that is just speculation, or maybe they have some serious bugs.
Snapchat says the feature is not available on all android devices due to technical restrictions. (My picture is in german sorry)

Yeah well it works on my cousins s6 edge so i'm thinking of modifying the build.prop to fake the phone model, maybe it will work.

Are you ok with this partnership? I don't like very much the integration with Microsoft products..

I couldn't agree with you more. I've spent the last 2 decades trying to get away from Microsoft, which is why I run Gentoo Linux on my PCs and Android on my handsets. It's bad enough we have Google collecting mountains of information about us, but Cyanogen is selling our data to every Tom, ****, and Harry for a quick buck, and I for one don't like it. I will do everything in my power to prevent this from happening, which is why I no longer use Cyanogen OS and will refuse to buy phones with it included in the future.

You can uninstall Cortana but yeah I foresee CyanogenOS getting a bunch more random things going forward. Seems they have decided to add bloat under the pretense of enriching user experience so Cyanogenmod nightlies or Omni are still great alternatives

Unencrypte op6t

Not a huge thing since this phone is so fast. But on my old Nexus 6 we had a zip that would remove encryption on our devices for faster user experience. Curious if this is possible for the op6t? I still have the Nexus 6 remove encryption file, obviously I won't flash it since it's a completely different device. Mostly just curious if others may be interested in non encryption on this phone.

Decrypting your phone doesn't almost nothing now. The reason it was so popular on the Nexus 6 is because Google scrambled and implemented encryption using software rather than hardware. Now that the snapdragon soc is handling the decryption through hardware there is next to 0 performance gain.
Same as above and remember it's a good way to piss off a lot of gouvernements and authorities that would prefer to have full and free access to our data without our consent each time we cross a border
Gotcha. Thanks guys. Wasn't aware it was hardware based encryption.

Wifi issues Fire HD 8 (2017) Lineage OS 17.1

I have scoured the interwebs and looked deep in to the brown hole of XDA and haven't been able to locate a working solution to the WiFi dropping issue with this particular device. I have two of the Fire 7 5th gen running LineageOS 14.1 and neither one have this problem. I know these are "Unofficial" builds but SOMEONE has to have figured out this issue by now...
Known issue. Working on it.
very good to hear
@Rortiz2 I keep looking into it, though it doesn't seem much of a priority to many?

While it's uncertain if others share your level of concern about this issue, I can assure you that it's my foremost priority. I'm still looking at this problem.
Anything I can do to help?
I also have had this issue since 15.1, updated same issue. I just want to install Alex and use it as a remote but for some reason on 15.1 I could not login.
