6p and 7.1.1, battery life is better buuut - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The battery life is waay better. I used to play games on my 6p and the phone would get really hot and the battery would die very quickly.
With 7.1.1 i have just played non stop knight for over an hour and im still at 70%. The phone only gets warm but not hot.
The processor seems to be running slower though, i noticed that it was lagging more often when gaming.
Has anybody else noticed this?

Maaaybe... im like you.

well this is disappointing.. when on 7.0 i my phone was turning off at about 15% battery left. Today my 7.1.1 6p turned off at 15%...
This just started happening in the last few weeks.

battery life report after update

Hi guys,
My battery life has always been very good even with heavy usage. When i got the update notification i was at 66% at 3pm. immediately after the update i was at 33% and it was downhill from there very quickly. my phone shut of at 9pm. how has it been for you guys?
Mine seems to be holding up okay so far.
If I recall correctly, the update took my battery from ~35% down to like 20%.
I updated via odin today(everything went smoothly). as with any update or mod i have done the battery always takes a big hit. i suspect its because the processor is working hard and draining the battery. other than that i haven't noticed any excessive battery drain yet. i will report back after a couple days of use though.

How long is battery supposed to last?

I got my nexus 7 on saturday as soon as I did I turned it on. There was an update available to android 4.2
Since it was a clean install I have not experienced any of the horrible software bugs I read here. Battery on the other hand is sort of dramatic. I will admit I use it a lot, but, come on! My Nexus S has better battery than this guy performs.
While I was at work, it was charging. I came home, it was 100% charged, so as soon as I ate, and stuff I started playing with it.
I played Sonic THD version, listened to a few songs on YouTube and now I am reading a book, and I notice the battery is down to 41%. This is like, horrible battery, because I used it for Sonic, YT (only in low quality, not HD) and book lasted together like an hour and a half. Tegra may have wasted some battery on Sonic, but 60% drop for less than 2 hours is bad, mmkay?
Is this normal? 4.2 having battery bugs?
Other thing is, again, not sure if 4.2 or...
When my battery is bellow 27% or so, multi touch starts acting up. Not detecting all the touches, detecting 2 instead of 1, flashing between 2 touches... When charging and above 30% it is fantastic, no problems at all. Besides that, loving every bit of this beast!!

I reckon 4.2 may be contributing to those same bugs you felt you had avoided. There's an issue with battery use and charging that is slowly coming out of people. For example, my n7 charged overnight and when I came to unplug it was at 76%. Not a previous behaviour on any 4.1 version.

S8 overheats

It's 950U1 unlocked version. Battery life has been very good and No overheat until today. But today, I charged it to 100% and disconnected from charger and used it for over an hour, then i suddenly feel the phone was very hot - never this hot before. And I noticed battery dropped faster than usual. I then restarted phone and heat went away.
Anyone had similar overheat issue? Could it be Google play services behaving badly?

Galaxy S8 Android Oreo battery life thread

I flashed the leaked Android Oreo OTA to my Verizon Galaxy S8 and am experiencing pretty terrible battery life. I'm getting about 2 1/2 hours of SoT which I find bad for 2018. Meanwhile, my Verizon LG V30 with Nougat is getting 5+ hours of SoT which drives me crazy. Any tips to improve? Also, how's your battery life with Oreo on your S8?
I haven't taken the dive for the Oreo beta based ROMs but have been following the threads and the consensus is that at present Oreo is no better than N, it actually seems to be a little worse for most, hence I'll wait for a while still before jumping to O, give it more time for fine tuning on the S8 by developers etc. just my opinion, plus I get 6 odd hours of SoT on my N custom ROM so I have no urgency to go to O until its more polished.
Terrible, i updated mine couple of weeks ago and noticed about this battery issue, it drains fast despite of disabling the likes of location, reducing the brightness, bluetooth. i informed samsung about it. Before i used it outside with a (-3 temperature since i live in Finland), it was fully charged 100%. I only used it NOT more than 5 minutes for videoing and taking pictures and that's it, i stayed outside for more than an hour. When i checked my battery it was 56% ! I know that cold temperature diminishes the battery performance but not to extent of that emptying the battery in half:

After I updated to Oreo I had horrible battery life as well... It one time dropped about 20% when the phone was resting with the screen off in the couch.
I disabled everything bixby related. Force closed, uninstalled updates, and disabled in every way possible.
Now I get decent battery life. I live in Sweden, we have -4°c today, and the phone worked just fine even outside. No significant battery drop.

Is Android System percentage higher than normal? And what about screen on time on daily usage?

you can try flash a custom kernel , are you using stock or custom rom ? which firmware?
I'm using the stock version. I'm not that tech expert to modify it although my phone is at developer version. Anything I can do more?
Thanks for your reply btw.

Draining battery after upgrade

After the last update, the October patch, my Galaxy S8 went on to drain a lot of battery, about 10% every 30 minutes. The loading speed is still the same. This is something that never happened, because my phone usually spent 10% at 1 hours of use, and I'm a somewhat intense user. When using an app like Spotify the battery comes to be consumed almost completely in just a few hours. Is this problem only happening to me or is it recurring to other users? Is there any chance that in a new update this will improve or is it going to be like this from now on?
YES! Same is happening to me, horrible battery life!
