Hi!
I've made a n interesting discovery with my battery.
3 weekends i have drained my battery until it shut itselfs off, and then i have charged it up again. And now i realy can live with my HD2 battery life.
When i come home from work i have about 80% and now as i write i have 76% left at 20.44.
Before i would have about 30-40% left at this time, i have never drained my battery before to 0, so when it happens the first time i noticed a slightly improvement. So the next weekend i did the same, and this last weekend i unplugged my charger at 06.00 in the friday morning and did not charge before sunday morning at 10.00. And for me THAT's a BIG/HUGE improvement.
Glad you resolved your issues .
I've found that having any kind of TSR apps installed on the device memory instead of the storage card, has made the battery life livable on my HD2 .

Hey guys!
I really need to try this. my battery life is just so pathetic.I hope it works for me too.
TSR - Terminate and Stay Resident.
Anything like G-Alarm/G-Profile, task managers etc. Any program that stays on or runs in the background I install to the phones memory. I think there is increased battery drain caused by accessing the storage card constantly IMO, so installing stuff like the above has made battery last 48hrs no problems. I too like to do a couple of full drain and recharge cycles a month .
I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who have battery issue probably has like a **** load of apps installed and/or unaware that some of their apps that they installed were running in the background. I've had the t8585 and the newer t9193 and never had any battery issue. The battery will easily last me 50hrs with light-to-moderate usage.
i can only confirm this.
after draining ur battery a couple of times, u need to fully charge it and it lasts longer than the first few days with the HD2
from new my battery life was totally useless. would barely last until 9pm no matter what i did.
two weeks ago my phone decided to forget it's pin lock number so had no choice but to hard reset the phone. since then i get a couple of days out of it and that's with heavy texting and web browsing.
i loved the phone before but battery life drove me up the wall but now i'm getting more life out of it i am now loving the device!
On the first couple of days I had the phone I had <40% by the end of the day but now even though I use my phone alot more I find I get to bedtime with ~50%
charging it unpowered after the drain also helps. (like with USB not the charger)

Not to hijack the thread, just wondering if you're the talented skin designer that created some of the BEST for Wizbar? I still use them on all my HP PDA's
Few days ago i bought my HD2, and before that i saw problems about battery life on this forum.
When i bought it I drain the battery until he died, then i left him turned off and let him recharge over night (cca 8h). In the morning I turned him on and i used him all day max...and in the end of the day battery died at 23h, again, when he was off I let him chargeing over night (cca 8h). In the morning I turned him on and used him average, at evening, 23h, the battery was on 54%, I went to sleep and in the morning (after 7 hours) the battery was 52%.
2% in 7 hourse is very good...and 50% over day. I'm ok with that

All that does for Lithium-Ion batteries is to reset the "estimated remaining charge" circuit. It wont increase the available battery life it just makes the battery report more accurately as to its remaining charge.

energy rom's use a lot of power. i didnt knew that untill i flashed the Anastasia rom ( link ) battery life is great and it looks better than energy imo. and it easy runs 2 days for me
I've been very annoyed at the rapid battery loss with Dutty's series of excellent ROMs.
I started from scratch and didn't install any apps to the Storage Card just to be absolutely sure. I even put the phone into Flight Mode.
Tonight I finally nailed the culprit for the huge drain (we're talking 50% in a few hours): it was a 16GB "Memory2Go" SDHC card. With the card removed, I lost just a few percent over a couple of hours.
I also don't get the same drain with an 8GB Sandisk card installed.
Any ideas on how to get the 16GB card to play nicely?

Damn, I never thought of the install location affecting battery life. But it makes sense, thanks a lot for your explanation!
I decided to do an experiment this morning. My fiance and I both have Dincs. We're both running SkyRaider 2.0.1. We both have the 1500mah touch pro 2 battery. I bump charged both phones this morning and both went off the charger at 8:30. I cleared my battery stats in clockwork immediately after the bump charge. I didn't clear her battery stats. She had been getting better battery life largely because I use my phone a lot more than she does. That changed today.
The numbers don't lie...
---------------------------------------------------------------
my phone - battery bump charged and battery stats wiped:
8/3 - off charger: 8:30am
Stats @ 10AM
Uptime: 1.5 hours
Awake: 1.25 hours
% left: 94%
Stats @ 12:30PM
Uptime: 4 hours
Awake: 3.75 hours
% left: 85%
Stats @ 3:45PM
Uptime: 7.25 hours
Awake: 7 hours
% left: 68%
Stats @ 12:30AM
Uptime: 16 hours
Awake: 10.5 hours
% left: 24%
---------------------------------------------------------
Fiance's Phone - Bump Charged, battery stats not wiped:
8/3 - off charger: 8:30am
Stats @ 12:30PM
Uptime: 4 hours
Awake: 1.25 hours
% left: 68%
Stats @ 12:30AM
Uptime: 16 hours
Awake: 7 hours
% left: 12%
----------------------------------------------------------
I've come to the conclusion that wiping your battery stats is a very important thing to do and will give you hours more battery life. I'm currently losing a little over 4% per hour, which should give me 23-25 hours of battery life. This is a very significant improvement over the 14-16 hours that she will likely get.
I do find it really odd however that my Uptime and Awake Time are so close. This would normally lead me to believe that some program isn't letting my phone go to sleep, but my battery life indicates that isn't happening.
----------------------------------------------------------
Day 2: Didn't get rid of need to bump charge. First bump charge actually seemed to take a little longer this morning (over 30 minutes). Second bump was 6 minutes. Had to scrap today since my fiance's phone didn't charge last night. It wasn't plugged into the wall. Doh!
i might give this a try. i'll be interested to see if others try it and see what their results are.
Would I have to clear battery stats every day in order to achieve this additional battery life, or is it only a semi-regular thing?
???
How do you wipe them in clockwork?
Question- did you fully charge, wipe, then drain battery down /all the way/ before re-charging (e.g. phone shuts itself down) or did you charge, wipe, and then let it drain a bit and then just plug it back in the charger at night without letting it shut itself down from lack of battery?
Thanks.
I just tried this earlier as well. I bump charged (charged with power off until led went green, booted all the way up, and then powered off, repeated this cycle like 3 times) and then wiped battery stats in clockworkmod (it's in advanced).
Too soon to see if it makes a difference, and I really didn't have any problems but figured longer is better right
Edit: I now plan to let the phone run until it shuts its self off

I doubt it, but don't know for sure yet. I'm tempted to charge it back up now to see if there is a difference in length of time spent bump charging. I hope it shortens it. I won't be clearing either of our stats tomorrow to see if the battery gains comparable to hers stick.

reboot into clockwork, scroll to advanced (i believe), then wipe battery stats

I let it drain itself all the way, then charged it overnight. woke up. bump charged for 1 cycle then cleared the stats.
Doesn't work for me, bump charged this morning then booted to recovery and wiped battery stats. If anything, it appears my battery life is worse and one side effect is I did not have 3g on the first reboot.

Your 3g data drop on reboot has nothing to do with wiping your battery stats. It's a known bug in the 2.2 roms. There's also no way that it could make your battery life worse. You're probably just using more heavily today. It's hard to compare one day to the next since your usage levels vary. I know that I use my phone way more than my fiance and comparing the same phones pulled off the charger at the same time is the only way to tell if it makes a difference.

I didn't have any problems with 3g on the first boot, and my battery life doesn't really appear to have been effected. I can go about a day between charges, and it stayed the same.... completely anecdotal though and I've only been through one charge.
you should clear stats regardless

I know about the 3g bug but I've never encountered it, ever, until I wiped the battery stats. Maybe that's just a coincidence.
Maybe the reboot due to the loss of 3g is what drained the battery more quickly initially. My routine is the same every morning. Unplug the phone, turn on pandora, walk ten minutes to work. So I have a fairly even amount of usage for the first few hours since it sits idle after that.
Maybe I'll revise my initial thoughts to say it may not be worse for the battery but I'm definitely not seeing the improvements you are. Can I ask what ROM you're running?
First Time Bumping
I have had issues on and off since I got my Dinc. Running SkyRaider RC3 atm seems worse since I flashed it.... 2.5 seemed better. Doing a bump charge/wipe now and will post later with results. I am a fairly heavy user (I know 'heavy' is very relative) and know that a whole day (about 8am to 8pm) is pushing it for me, but I am lucky to make it till 12pm. I have actually seen it drop to 20% before 11am. During the first few hours of the day, I may check 2 emails, send no more than 3 txt and make one phone call... Seems like a big drain for that.
Weird, I wiped my battery stats today for the first time and also NEVER had a 3g problem when rebooting. Now EVERY TIME I reboot there isn't 3g untill I turn on and off airplane mode. I know the two doesn't seem to be revenant, but it seems like a lot of people are running into the same exact problem. Anyone care to input on this?
Well later on in the day I tried a restart again the the 3g turned on a few minutes after the phone booted. It still hadn't ever taken this long before, but it did come through on its own. Just a little update on my last post. I'm still interested in knowing why though
Well so far so good, but didn't use it much today. 3G bug happens to me every reboot, but comes on in a few seconds. I'm at 54% atm and bumped/cleared at 2pm est its now 10 pm

If your phone uptime is close or same as the number of hours u have since unplugged, that means it's the usb bug preventing your phone from going to sleep.
What u need to do each time your phone is fully charged (connected to the wall charger or USB cable), u will need to unplug the cable and do a manual reboot.
Otherwise, the phone might still think it is plugged to an external power source and refuse to go to sleep even while your screen is turned off and your phone is idle.
Then u should see using Spare Parts or Battery History App, that your uptime is around 10% to 16% of your total time the phone has been unplugged.
Is anyone experiencing weird issues with battery before recharging? i had 2 days phone on batt and 3hrs screen on. It was at 53 % before i decided to charge. I fully charged it and now im losing 10% every hour even with phone on idle. Its weird cause every other charge will last a long time.

Yeah, I'm still stock on this phone and I'm getting inconsistent battery life. I usually charge every night, so I'm running about 16-17 hours per day. Almost identical usage each day but one day I'll plug in with 45-50% remaining and the next it will be dead when i plug in. Very odd. I'm going to root this thing just so I can get rid of the bloat apps. Well, that may not be the only reason I root. I may be compelled to put some AOSP on this and see how it rocks it.
well i don`t really recommend to ROOT stock rom, it caused for me a battery drain ! also KitKat known for drain issue even on Pure android on Nexus 5. I don`t really know a fix but i`d give u some tip and it might help
1. Re-flash D80020c
2. After re-flash do a factory reset
3. Don`t root or mod your OS
4. Turn off Sync or Location Service (or set to battery saver mode)
i did those steps and i have 34 hour on battery:
3 Hour screen on time (and about 30-40 min gaming in this 3 hour)
Left about 49%
i hope i helped a little
Potential solutions:
Have a look in Settings > General > Battery and see what seems to be using the most power. You could have a problem app that’s using GPS or trying to update frequently. If you can identify the culprit then you can remove it.
There’s a slim chance you have a faulty handset. If adjusting your usage and tweaking settings doesn’t’ result in any improvement then take your LG G2 back to the retailer or carrier and get a replacement.

I always have location turned off with all bloatware rwmoved. I honestly think you have to drain it to about 20% then charge. Cause i never have problems when i do that. Gonna try and drain it out again and recharge and see what happens then.

Its kitkat,it says rooted d80020c in my signature. Well here is my latest results. Left it on overnight and was at 53% with data off. Checked it this morning and everything was back to normal again no battery drain or low estimated battery times.weird cause i charged it around this percentage. I think you have to take it down to at least 20 before charging will find out later today when i charge.

well i really not heard about Deep sleep drain but while idle it`s drains bit faster then JB, with jb i could get max 40 hour and about 6hr screen on time and + 10-15% battery while on KK i can get 42 hour but about 5 hr and 45 min screen on time with 0% battery it`s seems a bit problem for 4.4.2 i think Google will fix it and hopefull we`ll get new update from AT&T if this prob will fixed
P.S i saw that if battery at 100%, overnight it won`t fall to 99 but while battery is on below 100% it drains about 1-2 % overnight is that a known prob?

2% overnight is pretty good, given that it's on WIFI I'm assuming?
I lost 25% overnight last night when I was off WIFI, so I factory resetted mine.
Took it down to 20% and discharged and its fine. Im guessing its a bug, but, easy fix just take the battery down to 20% or lower before charging
So I have been trying to figure this out for a month now. My wife has been complaining that her S5 was draining the battery by the time she got home from work. This started happening after the latest update at the end of June. So I thought it was the update but my s5 has been fine with no problems. After uninstalling some apps and setting the location settings to power save it was still doing it. So I reset her phone and installed some of the standard apps she uses which are the same as I use so I knew those were now power causing the drain. Well it was still happening and her usage is not extremely high, it is pretty much the same every day. So two days ago we swap batteries and all of a sudden her phone is lasting all day and into the evening for the past two days. Now her is the kicker the night we switched batteries I noticed that my phone was using a lot of juice for not doing much and by the time it was time for bed my phone was beeping that it needed to be charged. So at this point I figure her battery was shot. So I charged up my phone that night and the next day I have not seen any serious drain, just normal battery life and it is lasting all day like last night it was at 45%.
I was going to try an experiment of putting her battery back in her phone and see what happens but I have not had the chance yet.
Anyone have any idea what the issue could have been? Seems unseating the battery and reseating it might have fixed the problem but it doesn't make sense of why.
Storm180
After the last update, the October patch, my Galaxy S8 went on to drain a lot of battery, about 10% every 30 minutes. The loading speed is still the same. This is something that never happened, because my phone usually spent 10% at 1 hours of use, and I'm a somewhat intense user. When using an app like Spotify the battery comes to be consumed almost completely in just a few hours. Is this problem only happening to me or is it recurring to other users? Is there any chance that in a new update this will improve or is it going to be like this from now on?
YES! Same is happening to me, horrible battery life!
