Lost Mobile Data - HALP ME! (T-Mobile) - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Last night I was in my basement, rocking out to some tunes on the treadmill. I noticed my signal had become very weak and the 4G/LTE icon was no longer in the notification bar. My signal is often a little weak in the basement, so I thought nothing of it and flipped on Wi-Fi. Couple hours later I had finished my workout and went upstairs. Turned off Wi-Fi and still had no data connection. I tried the phone. No mobile data. I reset network settings. No mobile data. I turned data on and off. No mobile data. I checked my wife's phone and she still has mobile data. I drove far enough away that I should've hit another T-Mobile tower but, still, no mobile data!!
I called T-Mobile. Went through every possible troubleshooting step other than a factory reset, but nothing worked. I really don't have the time for a hard reset until next week.
Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions on how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Battery pull and leave the battery out for 5 minutes? Try your wife's sim card on your phone?

Same thing happened to me. In the backup and reset part of settings, there is an option to reset wireless settings. Worked for me. You will have to reenter wifi passwords and pair Bluetooth devices again though.

Didn't work. Neither did a hard reset. T-Mobile is shipping me a replacement overnight. I guess it works out because I have a nice scratch in the screen.

Updated from what? I was using the SIM card that came with my Note 7.
While I'm awaiting my replacement V20, I've now got the same SIM card in my S7 Edge, and mobile data is working just fine.

Sorry, but I don't buy into your mode of thought. Using the SIM card that came with the phone isn't going to magically fix mobile data.

[Q] i9505 - No mobile connnection

Hello guys,
I've a problem with my phone. I have no mobile connection, but it isn't Modem related (I think).
It all happened when i went back to 4.3 TW (XXUEML6), I've always used broodplanks aosp rom.
First i thought it was a modem issue so i checked my modem but it was ML6
Tried to fix it with some reboots, wiping cache, factory reset, full reset and reflashing of both TW and AOSP.
I later flashed my previous modem, the problem still presists.
Now to get to the weird part: I've no mobile connection (No service) BUT can use my Mobile Internet and Wi-Fi.
Can't recieve/make calls, neither sms. But mobile internet works perfectly
I'm beyond desperation,
Can you please help me?
Greats
Could be a sim problem.

Blowed out sim tray and wiped sim.. Hope it's related to the sim and not the phone
If it was a sim problem, I wouldn't be able to give in my pin at boot, and wouldn't have any acces to Mobile Internet (not talking about Wi-Fi)...
Well it' almost 3AM here so have no-one i can ask for his/her sim. If you got any other suggestions I'm happy to try.
Reset APN else change your sim..
Send my signature phone to XDA with bad grammar
It can be your sim.I used a cut down one (iphone5) and put it in an adapter to make it a microsim.I had mobile data, but couldnt call or send texts.Used to happen daily, but sometimes phone displayed triangle=no sim inserted.Other times nothing was displayed (meaning I was fooled into thinking there was no problems).
Only once, for about 2 seconds have I had any problems with sim since I changed it for a proper micro one a week ago.
I thought it could be the sim holder also, as a few people have had problems with them.

Well strangly the phone has came to its senses overnight without doing anything. Now it's a game of waiting...
Because it happened a couple of times in the previous 2-3 days
A little "update": I've tried my sim in another phone, it worked.. Another sim in my phone also worked.
EDIT: I flashed stock XXUEML6 firmware and took care that I got "Official" (yes i've tripped knox a long time ago).
So far so good. So i guess latest official FW fixed the problem

Verizon no LTE

Got my new Nexus 6P, went to the Verizon store and got a nano LTE SIM. Ever since it's been plugged in, all features except LTE seem to work fine. Spoke to Verizon tech support and they see that everything seems to be setup correctly and the device activated in their systems.
One thing I did notice is that in the list of APN's, I have 6 of them. The one that says VZWINTERNET seems to have the right setup for what seems to be working for rest of the folks here. However, when I switch to using it, the signal is still stuck on 3G. Also after a couple of minutes when I look back at the APN list, it seems to fall back to the one that says "internet" which definitely seems to have the EvDo-rev A settings.
Has anyone experienced similar issue? Any suggestions?
I'm going to try to go back to the store again to try a different SIM card later today.
Quick update. First I tried switching the radio band first to Band 6, that's when it went to 1x and stayed that way. Then I switched it to USA Band and within a minute was able to lock onto LTE! Hoping it stays this way!
Said too soon. Side effect, no cellular connection available. Data transfer is at LTE speeds but can't make calls now
Here is the APN I'm using. Truth is I never changed a thing when I put the sim in. Factory reset it and find it a few minutes to get cellular working before messing with it. Sometimes it takes a while especially with a new sim.
Thanks static. That's the first thing I tried. Just let it be on 3G. Since nothing changed till this morning I decided to tinker a bit. For me the second to last APN keeps getting selected no matter how many times I switch it to the one you have.
Do you have another phone you can put the sim in and see if it works?
Nothing that takes a nano. I was able to get LTE to work just with data but it's pointless with no calling available. So at the moment it's like one or the other which is strange.
Attaching 2 screenshots. One with band 6 where calling works but data is 1x. Another with USA band where LTE data works but no calling. Looking closely it's set to emergency calls only.
I'm not sure if you are rooted or stock. I had a similar issue when I had an HTC M8. When I placed my Verizon sim card it would only connect at 3G speeds and not LTE. I tried to factory reset the phone through the menu multiple times but still no change. What worked for me was to go into the bootloader and then recovery mode and "wipe data/factory reset" with the Verizon sim card in the slot. After that reboot the phone and hopefully it will connect at LTE speeds. Obviously the reset will erase your phone so backup any important documents. Just a thought.

Were you able to get another sim card from Verizon? Wondering if that is the issue. Otherwise I'm not sure what would help. Sorry.
They allowed you to activate it on the phone itself? I brought in a borrowed iPhone 6 plus (because I was coming from a Galaxy S5) and activated it on that, then put it into the Nexus 6P. As far as I know, changing the APN doesn't fix anything except some MMS not properly transferring and has nothing to do with getting LTE itself.
If you have another phone that can be used on Verizon, test it out on that. Or try a new sim card.
I had the same issue, I tried my Sim in a different phone and LTE worked so then I decided to try my project Fi Sim in the 6p and that one had LTE. Then I put my Verizon Sim back and LTE worked. Maybe it needed a different Sim card to reset it or something.

I had this same issue after letting my wife borrow my phone one day. Come to find out she did a *228 to update the roaming for some retarded reason and it pretty much fried my SIM. A quick visit to Verizon and a new SIM solved it for me. Hope this helps.
Is mobile data set to Global or LTE/CDMA?

Hmm, I didn't even try because I read the stories about it, I guess people were saying it because the previous gen 6 was not whitelisted until a few months after release. I also didn't want them looking too deep into my account because I had upgraded and stayed on UDP through the loophole, so I didn't want to get booted off that.
So I got a replacement Nexus 6P, plugged the same SIM card in and voila, LTE and voice works. Thanks all for your suggestions. Seems like it was a defective device.

Hi, noticed this can happen if you are somewhere and you lose all your signal....won't reconnect to data when you get a signal again.
Turning phone off/on, data off/on, airplane off/on doesn't help..... only thing that worked was in network settings - change to 3G/2G only, then toggle back to 4G/3G/2G auto....seemed to kick it back to life.
Thanks finding out now that nobody can call me and can't call out if I do it goes to 3g then h then nothing and have to re insert sim if nobody calls I can use mobile data but still not the phone don't get it like when someone calls I lose the signal it goes off never had this issue and had plenty of phones could the sim connection be faulty?but then mobile data comes on and works it was all working fine for a week I'm baffled

Hi, not the same issue I was having...I could still make and receive calls and sms's.....just no data connection. Only thing I can suggest is trying a different sim card - if the fault appears with a new sim , then it's the phone at issue.
The following process helped for my problem which exhibited the same symptoms twice: 1. Switch off the phone; 2. Pull out the sim card and insert it back; 3. Switch the phone back on. Hope it helps

Also should I have the reception bars there if no mobile data thought I just needed the reception bars to be able to call and text not 4g?am confused now
Read somewhere to wipe data and app or two by going into recovery but it doesn't do anything in recovery just blue screen saying downloading for ages but nothing happens so maybe need to root it
Is This Single Sim OR Dual Sim .... S7
It's for 1 sim and 1 sd card
I have a dual sim s7 edge. Unlocked. Decided to go with T-mobile. Data comes on for a minute and then disappears until I restart the phone again. Even though I select sim 1 as the one that should use the mobile data, when I drag the top of my screen where it says: "calls sim 1; messages sim 1..." it says data sim 2.... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
EDIT: So I have tried various options time and time again for the dual sim mobile data issue. For me - it worked when I disabled sim 2, but when I re-enabled it, it started defaulting back to sim 2 for mobile data and it was effed. So finally, even though this is not ideal (but doesn't make 'real' difference), I replaced by sims - put my main sim (for calls, txt, data) in the slot for sim 2 and put my backup sim (for calls, txt) in tray for sim 1. It works without a problem so far (24h test so far).
EDIT 2: So after 48h, my mobile data started defaulting to sim 1 (which was now my backup sim, since before it was defaulting to sim2)... I have NO idea!!! Am I gonna have to change the sim placements every1-2 days??!?!?! Please let me know if you have any other fixes. Thanks

No service

Hi,
I have a problem with my brand new Galaxy S7 edge. It's a European model, unlocked, bought in the official Samsung store. It was working fine but yesterday it lost service for a while. I switched it in and out of plane mode and service was back. Today it suddenly lost service and nothing seems to help. Tried plane mode, factory reset, changing network settings. Sim card works fine with my old galaxy s5. IMEI and serial number are correct. Any thoughts?

We have the *exact* same problem over at android-hilfe.de
I've been dealing with this issue for over a week now, latest update from two days ago didn't help. I reset the phone, switched SIM-Cards, swapped SD-Card etc. Problem persists.
NO service out of the blue.
I guess there is no way to fix thix, and I'm entirely sure more people have this problem, but they often don't notice because they are connected on Wifi.

Exactly, I haven't noticed it at first because I was online all the time. It looks to me as it's a problem with the gsm module in general as when I remove the SIM card the phone alerts me that the card has been removed so it probably sees the SIM card.

I don't know what's going on, but I see many people mentioning the exact same problem. If this happens again I'm giving the phone back. It seems to help if you switch from LTE/3G/2G to 3G/2G - but I depend on the LTE connection and it's unacceptable to me.

I've just had it die on me again. No chance I'm bothering with this any longer. There are really many things I like about this phone, but the 6S Plus has one unbeatable advantage: it works!

i have the same problem on a used s7e that i bought. i tryed with reflash it with pit etc etc and nothing helps
My T-Mobile S7 edge just had its radio bite the dust as well I guess. Phone was going slow so I rebooted it then I got no service. Rebooted a few more times, new SIM card, factory reset, software reload with SmartSwitch... nothing fixed it. I'm now 3 for 3 with Samsung phones that have mysteriously crapped out on me for no discernible reason. Not impressed.
Could be APN, I flashed a custom ROM on my phone and then it receives signal but says (and acts like) no services. Resetting APN put it instantly back to working. It can be found in Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Reset to default (or find the APN setting for your carrier on the internet/official website, then add & apply)

[Moto G4 with Amazon ads] Always losses carrier network after 24 hours

Hello everyone,
I just bought a Moto G4 16 GB with Amazon Ads for my wife, but we are facing a very annoying problem: the carrier signal always dies after 24 hours give or take. We tested with a different SIM card and the same thing happened. When this happens the device only shows "Emergency Calls Only" and we have to reboot the phone in order to get the signal back.
So, is anyone else facing this problem? Is this really a problem with this phone in particular or every moto g4 has this problem? Should I return the device to amazon?
Thank you very much for any information you can give me!

I tested the SIM card in a different phone and it worked flawlessly (I also use T-Mobile). The strange thing is that the phone gets the signal very well during more or less one day, after that I have to reboot to get signal again.
Well, this is probably a problem in the device. I already asked Amazon to send a replacement.

Thank you, but I just use the t-mobile network. In fact, my carrier is called campusSIMs and it is a MVNO that uses t-mobile network. So, my APN configs are a bit different from yours.
However, I didn't know about this mobile data thing. I didn't touch the developer options. Maybe, it can be a good idea.
Thank you!
It won't be your APN settings since that controls your data settings. If the sim is ok then it could be your phone.

I'm seeing a similar problem with the data portion of the network (also on T-Mobile). While I'm able to send and receive calls and texts, data doesn't work. There's no indication that it's attached to LTE or even 3G (just a standard signal bar with no other information). I moved the SIM card back to the old phone it was in and it works fine.
Things actually worked yesterday, so something happened overnight to break it.

That could possible be the APN settings. Although usually it's the opposite, they don't work at first then they update from the network later on. Most times the APN settings will set themselves but on the odd occasion they need to manually edited. I don't use T-Mobile but the APN settings are easy enough to find.

Sounds like you need to manually enter the APN settings. What you describe is exactly what happens when it hasn't loaded an APN.
I'm "kinda" having an issue here. It's a little different though; the phone works ok for a while (for me about 3 hours, usually), and then I still get an LTE indicator, but have no network connection (get errors in apps/"No internet" page in chrome).
Other times, I lose LTE and get locked in 3g (H indicator), and can only get LTE back by going to Settings/More/Cellular Networks/ and toggle preferred network mode to 2g or 3g, let it connect (H or E), then toggle back to LTE.
Motorola responded to a bad Amazon review requesting I post asking for help on their forums.

I'm active over on their forums also and it's good to post over there in case you ever want to do a soak test. They look at your posts there when they ask for soak testers. As for your problem, I've seen it shift back and forth if you are in an area between towers and one isn't sending out LTE. If it were that I wouldn't think you'd get it back so easily. There's an app, don't remember the name, that will show the towers and signal relative to your location, If might be interesting to look at that.
Having the same issue with radio. Just replied to your post, Kalash.
Ok, we got a new phone from Amazon and it has the same problem. So, I believe this phone does not work very well with MVNOs.
I notice that the problem is that the phone cannot reconnect to the network after losing the signal. For example, if you go to an area with bad signal and, eventually the signal vanishes, the phone will not be able to reconnect to the carrier network. The phone only reconnects after reboot. Airplane mode does not solve the problem.
This does not happen with my Blu Life One X. So, I think it is a software problem.

That's not true on all mvnos' apparently. My wife's phone is on Consumer Cellular, an AT&T mvno and it's never done that. We've been in a no service area several times and it's always connected immediately when getting service back.
