Hello guys,
I've a problem with my phone. I have no mobile connection, but it isn't Modem related (I think).
It all happened when i went back to 4.3 TW (XXUEML6), I've always used broodplanks aosp rom.
First i thought it was a modem issue so i checked my modem but it was ML6
Tried to fix it with some reboots, wiping cache, factory reset, full reset and reflashing of both TW and AOSP.
I later flashed my previous modem, the problem still presists.
Now to get to the weird part: I've no mobile connection (No service) BUT can use my Mobile Internet and Wi-Fi.
Can't recieve/make calls, neither sms. But mobile internet works perfectly
I'm beyond desperation,
Can you please help me?
Greats
Could be a sim problem.

Blowed out sim tray and wiped sim.. Hope it's related to the sim and not the phone
If it was a sim problem, I wouldn't be able to give in my pin at boot, and wouldn't have any acces to Mobile Internet (not talking about Wi-Fi)...
Well it' almost 3AM here so have no-one i can ask for his/her sim. If you got any other suggestions I'm happy to try.
Reset APN else change your sim..
Send my signature phone to XDA with bad grammar
It can be your sim.I used a cut down one (iphone5) and put it in an adapter to make it a microsim.I had mobile data, but couldnt call or send texts.Used to happen daily, but sometimes phone displayed triangle=no sim inserted.Other times nothing was displayed (meaning I was fooled into thinking there was no problems).
Only once, for about 2 seconds have I had any problems with sim since I changed it for a proper micro one a week ago.
I thought it could be the sim holder also, as a few people have had problems with them.

Well strangly the phone has came to its senses overnight without doing anything. Now it's a game of waiting...
Because it happened a couple of times in the previous 2-3 days
A little "update": I've tried my sim in another phone, it worked.. Another sim in my phone also worked.
EDIT: I flashed stock XXUEML6 firmware and took care that I got "Official" (yes i've tripped knox a long time ago).
So far so good. So i guess latest official FW fixed the problem

My phone was sitting on my desk for 3 hours and when I go to make a call, I get "Mobile Network not available." It worked fine before that and it just stopped. No new settings or anything like that. I get 2 or 3 bars but I don't get the 2g or 3g icon.
I'm on T-mobile currently running Enoms 2.11.3.
Things I've done:
Rebooted
Checked my APN
Checked my settings
Called T-mobile - useless
Checked my SIM card - maybe moved out a bit
Wiped and reinstalled with CM6 and Enom
Any suggestions?
I can't call or receive any data.
You can try flashing a different radio. What version are you using now?. Some people are having issues with 5.08
Tell me if it works. Good luck!

Hi, My Nexus 4 got no service already 1 week++. I already tested with the other SIM card and I also do a research on Internet. On Internet, also got many people faced this problem. On Internet, many people said the nexus 4 cant accept the SIM card that is normal SIM card cut into micro SIM card, must use the original micro SIM card. I also try with the solution and I bought a SIM card that is original SIM card but the micro SIM card also doesn't work. All the SIM card are cant detected by he nexus 4, will the Sim Card tray broken. My phone are protected by cover since day one and never dropped into water. I wish LG can fix this problem and help me to fix this problem, this really cause me a lot of problem. Regards, Tang.

check in settings if you have a baseband installed sometimes it uninstalls by itself so that could be the problem

Settings > About phone > Baseband version
Does the phone ask you to insert SIM, or are you unable to connect to your cell provider?
If you are asked to insert SIM, you may have a bad SIM slot (broken pin contacts), or the SIM is placed incorrectly in the slot.
If you just have no service, check your phone number is displayed correctly in "About phone" and try to scan for available networks in:
Settings > Wireless & networks (more) > Mobile networks > Network operators
then use "Choose automatically"
Will the sim tray broken. My nexus 4 is running JB Stock and no root.

Had the exact same problem. Had no service at all (the network icon was just a triangle), no baseband, no IMEI. This is what I tried so far. My phone was stock 4.3 before my experiments :
1. Tried toggling *#*#4636#*#*, tried all the options there - no luck. Radio was "off", and no matter how many times I tried to click on Turn On Radio, it wouldnt start
2. Tried switching Sim cards, from same operator and from a different operator, no luck
3. Did a factory reset using the settings menu - no change
4. Finally, rooted the phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 (First time ever, complete noob here). Everything went smoothly. Installed all the standard stuff from the 4.3 image.
Now, I could see the radio intermittently turn on and off - what a relief ! Atleast I knew there exists a chance this is not a hardware issue. I was getting service for 10 seconds, then it was going off for 10 seconds. This was happening continuously.
5. Tried *#*#4636#*#* and toggling all options again, (even GSM only, WDCMA only, preferred etc). I am in India and using Idea Cellular.
6. Searched like crazy on the xda forum for possible solutions - decided I'll try out a different radio version (I had 0.84 on mine) from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 - If you're a complete noob like me and dont know what the hell I'm talking about, trust me, flashing a radio is not that difficult. Just refer to my earlier thread link
7. Tried flashing each and every radio from 0.24 - 0.84. Mixed results. Except for 0.83 and 0.84 all other radios atleast maintain signal throughout. However it never turns "blue" - I cannot access the internet from my phone - I have a data plan, the apn information is correct and every other setting is proper (airplane mode off, data on etc). The other odd thing is I can call and receive calls, however there is absolutely no audio !
By elimination - I think there are only two options here - either this has something to do with the 4.3 update altogether, or this is a hardware glitch on the nexus 4 which is activated by some unique sequence of steps. Please note I did NOTHING "illegal" on the phone before this problem - no rooting no custom software, not even any apps which mainstream users would call "shady" - just the usual FB, Mail apps, my corporate mail account.
Any ideas here - I am going to go ahead and try flashing my phone back to stock 4.2.2 again, and hope that works !! Please help ! And apologies for the tremendously long post first up

NoobNexus

In the off-chance you might still read this: I'm having the same problem, just as some other Nexus 4 users: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/nexus-4-service-t2501076/post61681896#post61681896

i recently buy a nexus 4 from ebay, only for nostalgia, so, when i receive the cellphone, i turn on without a sim inside, connected to wifi and the phone request for 3 upgrades of security, the nexus was in 5.1.1, the last than ir support, so i accepted the upgrades and the nighmare start, when i put my sim, the nexus not recognized it, i try everything, put in airplane mode and back and nothing, full reset from recovery twice and nothing.
So, i unlock the bootloader, install a recovery (clockwork) and root, after download from google the formware 4.4.4 for nexus 4, start the downgrade, when my nexus wake up in kitkat with my at&t (mexico) sim inside, the same problem, still not detecting simcard, i connect to wifi and the cellphone request for an upgrade, android 5.0.1 , click in next and the nexus start downloading and installing the upgrade, after 15 minutes, again with the sim indide, wake up with lollipop and the signal come back again ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
My nexus after 24hrs is still with signal, whitout problems, but still request for the other 3 upgrades ( android 5.1.1 and other two upgrades for security), but with previous experience.... i will keep in 5.0.1......
Hello guys! long time lurker, first time poster here.
I have a galaxy s5
recently the phone acted extremely weird when i first used it. So i flashed the phone and re-installed the android software which fixed all the weird problems i was having.
Now im still having 1 problem. with my SIM card installed i have full network (5 bars) when i try to make a phone call i get a "not registered on network" error. I remove my SIM card, the network is still present (5 bars)
I seem to have full signal at all times with or without my SIM card. The phone does not acknowledge the SIM when i put the SIM card in or when i remove it.
Did i do something wrong when i flashed my phone? i installed the same stock ROM that was on the phone with the proper carrier (videotron)
I need your help!
Thank you in advance.
i forgot to mention that the phone is rooted. If i could somehow figure out how to reset the carrier settings i think it might help.

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried selecting my own network manually serveral times with 2 different SIM cards.. It didn't change anything. I still have full service without a SIM card.
Maybe you flashed a wrong modem for your area, try to flash the right and newest modem for your area. If that takes no effect, contact your service provider.

Hi, noticed this can happen if you are somewhere and you lose all your signal....won't reconnect to data when you get a signal again.
Turning phone off/on, data off/on, airplane off/on doesn't help..... only thing that worked was in network settings - change to 3G/2G only, then toggle back to 4G/3G/2G auto....seemed to kick it back to life.
Thanks finding out now that nobody can call me and can't call out if I do it goes to 3g then h then nothing and have to re insert sim if nobody calls I can use mobile data but still not the phone don't get it like when someone calls I lose the signal it goes off never had this issue and had plenty of phones could the sim connection be faulty?but then mobile data comes on and works it was all working fine for a week I'm baffled

Hi, not the same issue I was having...I could still make and receive calls and sms's.....just no data connection. Only thing I can suggest is trying a different sim card - if the fault appears with a new sim , then it's the phone at issue.
The following process helped for my problem which exhibited the same symptoms twice: 1. Switch off the phone; 2. Pull out the sim card and insert it back; 3. Switch the phone back on. Hope it helps

Also should I have the reception bars there if no mobile data thought I just needed the reception bars to be able to call and text not 4g?am confused now
Read somewhere to wipe data and app or two by going into recovery but it doesn't do anything in recovery just blue screen saying downloading for ages but nothing happens so maybe need to root it
Is This Single Sim OR Dual Sim .... S7
It's for 1 sim and 1 sd card
I have a dual sim s7 edge. Unlocked. Decided to go with T-mobile. Data comes on for a minute and then disappears until I restart the phone again. Even though I select sim 1 as the one that should use the mobile data, when I drag the top of my screen where it says: "calls sim 1; messages sim 1..." it says data sim 2.... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
EDIT: So I have tried various options time and time again for the dual sim mobile data issue. For me - it worked when I disabled sim 2, but when I re-enabled it, it started defaulting back to sim 2 for mobile data and it was effed. So finally, even though this is not ideal (but doesn't make 'real' difference), I replaced by sims - put my main sim (for calls, txt, data) in the slot for sim 2 and put my backup sim (for calls, txt) in tray for sim 1. It works without a problem so far (24h test so far).
EDIT 2: So after 48h, my mobile data started defaulting to sim 1 (which was now my backup sim, since before it was defaulting to sim2)... I have NO idea!!! Am I gonna have to change the sim placements every1-2 days??!?!?! Please let me know if you have any other fixes. Thanks

Last night I was in my basement, rocking out to some tunes on the treadmill. I noticed my signal had become very weak and the 4G/LTE icon was no longer in the notification bar. My signal is often a little weak in the basement, so I thought nothing of it and flipped on Wi-Fi. Couple hours later I had finished my workout and went upstairs. Turned off Wi-Fi and still had no data connection. I tried the phone. No mobile data. I reset network settings. No mobile data. I turned data on and off. No mobile data. I checked my wife's phone and she still has mobile data. I drove far enough away that I should've hit another T-Mobile tower but, still, no mobile data!!
I called T-Mobile. Went through every possible troubleshooting step other than a factory reset, but nothing worked. I really don't have the time for a hard reset until next week.
Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions on how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Battery pull and leave the battery out for 5 minutes? Try your wife's sim card on your phone?
Same thing happened to me. In the backup and reset part of settings, there is an option to reset wireless settings. Worked for me. You will have to reenter wifi passwords and pair Bluetooth devices again though.

Didn't work. Neither did a hard reset. T-Mobile is shipping me a replacement overnight. I guess it works out because I have a nice scratch in the screen.

Updated from what? I was using the SIM card that came with my Note 7.
While I'm awaiting my replacement V20, I've now got the same SIM card in my S7 Edge, and mobile data is working just fine.

Sorry, but I don't buy into your mode of thought. Using the SIM card that came with the phone isn't going to magically fix mobile data.
