Hey everyone,
It's a while that my Droid Turbo 2 is behaving weird over USB. It's not getting turbo charge anymore (it shows "charging slowly" on the screen and it take almost 12 hours to get 100% charge). Also when I connect the phone to my laptop, it just gets charge over the USB (still slowly) and not my laptop not mounting the device as a storage device (and the adb command wouldn't list the device).
Do you have any idea what should I do?
P.S. Things I did but I didn't get any result:
- I already did the reset factory
- I wiped cached
- I tested with other cables (including another working Motorola turbo charger)
- I tested charging inside the safe mode
the USB port is broken...
Check the data pins in the socket on the bottom for damage, also try a different cable.
I've exactly the same defect than you.
This happened a month ago. Problem is that each time i would like to send it back turbocharge is working again for 1 to 2 time before problem restart.
I've checked it with Ampere app. The intensity is around 50 mA to 250 mA but mostly around 130 mA which is really low.
Strangest thinks is that when i switch on the device, intensity can sometimes be higher than 1600 mA but immediately fall down to 200 mA after a couple of seconds.
Some forums say that's can come from a bad position of your SIM/SD card. Others tell to send it back to replace the device.
I've never could connect my device by USB to my laptop and i've oftenly observed an overheating of the device when charging with TurboPower.
I'm fed up and will send it back for replacement as soon as possible!!!
Bonne chance!!

Problem: My HD does not charge 80 to 90% of the attempts:
- resulting in a blinking orange led
- or no led at all.
- irratic batterylevel behavior is also included (eg. declines from 75->60% in 5 minutes)
- or irratic charging behavior (UN-charging (!) to be specific)
The problem occured 4 weeks ago, after two months of flawless use, initially i thought either the original charger or the original usb cable was broken, or some software process was responsible.
Current System outline:
- (new) stock 1.56.404...(NLD)
- FInix NOverBattery+sdkcerts
- NO EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED
What I've done so far:
- soft reset the phone
- hard reset the phone
- upgrade from 1.14 to 1.56 (NLD)
- changed usb cable's
- change way's of charging**
- used the original usb-charger for my girlfried ipod (it worked flawlessly)
** ways of charging include:
* use te original usb charger to:
1. charge it swithced fully on:1a. it switches off resulting in the blinking orange led after some seconds <1minute, or 1b. charger is not recognised at all.
-> soft reset before SEEMS to makes chances of fully charging better, but not 100%
2. charge it 'offish' (1 short off button press, phone is still operative) resulting in: (a) blinking orange light after 30 sec-1 minutes) or again: (b) no light at all.
3. i read that charging it completely off is not recommended for calibration reasons, therefore i did not test that since i already have charging issues although my previous HTC phones (Magician, Touch Cruise) never seemed to have trouble with it.
* use a computer to charge:
4. while both in fully operative mode, Active sync connection etc. results are better but not a 100% guaranteed connection/charge {EDIT: after the mac went to sleep today, the charging indicator started blinking again}
5. while computer was fully operative and phone was OFF (like out of battery), only this computer connection seems to bring it back from the dead, the charger seemed to do nothing.
6. attached my iMac 24" (with a know high USB2 voltage output) while it was sleeping and the was phone 'offish' no active sync connection: it seems to charge fine now.
After a several days of testing i'm still in the blind. So:
Does anybody REALLY know what's wrong?
Suggestions:
- charger/phone broken
- internal overheating switch in charger/phone/battery
- standard windows software process (?).
- Calibration chip broken/gone mental (how to reset it)
So should i bring it in for repair?
(I read at least one xda-member got his motherboard replaced)
For the record: a phone SHOULD easily be chargable by just plugin it in not taking 10 minutes to half an hour of tweaking before it actually charges. It's like a golf-cart you can only charge when it's in reverse, the left blinker is on and it's alligned in an exact north to south direction )
Does your cradle have 2 usb cables? I take you have plugged 1 to your mac and the other one to mains? Otherwise it may not be getting enough power.
I've had simlarish issues, when I tried to charge my HD off USB hub. It needs proper usb voltage to charge properly.

Hi,
I don't use a cradle my HD is either directly connected to my pc (with plenty of USB power) or directly connected to the original usb-charger
so it's not a low power issue i'm sure.
[Update] My phone was 'repaired'
...after a call to tech support my phone was repaired by a Belgian repaircentre.
They've sent it back with a 'repaired connector'
Guess what...
The phone showed the same strange behavior within a few days (or I only noticed it a few days later)
By now the phone completely refuses to charge.
Well, I charged it for a full night on the original charger, had to reset it, it jumped from 100% to 50% when in came back to life.
Then it said it only had 5% and now it even refuses to switch on (battery level to low)0
I'm really out of options, any what with an estimated guess? Please help?

In my opinion it really sounds like there is something wrong with it. Charging the phone is not a mystery... I can charge mine with any number of USB-style wall chargers, via USB, etc. I've never had any of the symptoms you do. In your case I would unfortunately send it in again for repair, this time demanding a closer look or a full replacement.
repaired again...motherboard replacement
the phone was repaired a second time by the Belgian repair centre. HTC phone and home-pick-up service worked flawless. They replaced the motherboard this time and the phone charges now like it has to. No problems anymore, perfect phone now!
I am trying to figure out why my DroidX will not charge fully all of the sudden. I plugged it in yesterday to a wall charger for about 2 hours when the battery was at 50%, can back after 2hrs, and it was still at 50% even though it showed the charging icon the whole time. I rebooted it, and plggeed it into my computer's USB port, and set the USB option to "Charge only". Came back this morning, after it sat there for 6 hours and same thing - it is just maintaining the current battery level, but not charging it higher.
I have only owned it for a week, and the only change between now and when it was charging properly was that I installed a wireless tethering app, however, that runs on demand, and it has not been open or running. WiFi and GPS are also completely turned off.
Anyone else experienced this? I assume unless I keep it plugged in 24/7 now, it will eventually die all the way down!!
p.s. - I also tried letting it charge while it was completely powered off, but same thing. Shows that it is charging but just maintains current level.

this is not normal ,while in the wall charger it should charge all the way and the same on usb but just slower ,if this problem persist i would bring it to VZW and get a knew batt or phone or both since you have only had it a week
It may not be the phone or the battery. It's probably a faulty DC adapter which is not delivering the proper amperage. I just had this problem with my Slingbox. It would light up but the lights looked dim and I couldn't connect to it. A new adapter fixed it.
(Edit) I just reread your post and noticed you are charging it on your PC's USB port. Try the wall charger or another PC. Some PCs don't put out enough juice to charge.

This is somewhat true. The phone should charge with less power regardless of the source. You notice this most on say a USB hard drive and this is why you have y cables sometimes on the drives that take more power. Does the computer you happen to be charging it on happen to be a Laptop?
FYI - I charge from a desktop PC that has a 1000W corsair powersupply and hig end motherboard.
With that asie though, I was able to get the charging back - works fine after I did a hard reset. Most everything was backed up via Google, so all I had to do was rearrange my icons on home screen and change a few android settings.
I still have all the same apps, so I do not know what caused it. Whatever, it is fine now, but if it happens again I will take it in - I do not want to have to hard reset every few weeks. (I have the $6 a month full protection plan, even if I lose it, it gets replaced)
In a beautiful day, when I forget my charger at school, I used my PC to charge my cellphone ( just 2 days like that) and the cellphone was detecting like usual: If connected to pc it shows charging over USB, If connected to AC it shows AC. Ok then, so What is the problem? After One week, when I was travelling using the phone as usual the battey ended and cellphone turned off at 0% (perfectly normal), as soon as I was travelling I used car charger to charge my Zenfone (It is an 2A car adapter). When I connected the cellphone (I was on Stock ROM) it take more time to detect charger than usually (like when you connect it the phone instantly shows the battery icon when off) it takes over 20s connected to charger to show the battery logo, the phone was saying that 1/4 of battery has been charged (WTF it was totally discharged from 100% to 0% and when I put 20s it charge that much? This is not possible I tought). When I turn the phone on it was showing 30% OF BATTERY, I wondered how that could happen. (I alreay saw this bug on my friend's cellphones from other brands like Samsung & Motorola). Anyway, when I saw those 30% I saw the battery graph (wich shows if is on AC or USB) and it was showing charging over USB. BUT HOW THAT COULD BE USB, ITS A FRRAKING 2A CHARGER WTF ZENFONE. I tested on my sister's phone with same cable and same charger, it was showing charging over AC as well. When I finally get home I let it charging, after 1h30m it just charged 15% with Asus AC charger & at the battery graph still showing charging over USB, when I tried to connect it to computer the phone was showing charging over USB (btw it was ok because it was on PC) but windows doesn't said nothing was connected, no USB mismatch, NOTHING. I was on panic. WTF HAPPENED TO MY CELLPHONE. This day I decided to go to Marshmallow, soon as I have root and TWRP pre-installed (when I still have usb connection {3 months ago when I made root}) So I downloade RR zips, upgraded, everythig was ok, Marshmallow Running successfully. But one thing wasn't ok, the freaking charger detect. It was still saying "over USB" but it was on AC. Tried to go o bootloader, no answers from the phone either from windows. I bought an USB-OTG adapter, not working too. I bought an new microusb sub board, replaced it to the new one. No success, still saying charging over USB, no pc connection. Just one thing chaned: OTG before SubBoard change it doesn't even gave energy to "feed" the pen drive, mouse doesn't work too. This night was when I became freaking mad, I let it charging, when I turn the phone on it has just 25%. 6h Charging and 25%. I said to myself, this couldn't be possible, no way dude. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm desperate, is the only android phone that I have, already tried many chargers, many cables, many different computers, no clue of what happened with this cellphone. So is not an hardware issue (as soon I already had this issue, but it get back to normal by itself last time, I didn't do anything) but now it has been 1 month charging "over USB with short battery life. What am I suposed to do now? I tried repair battery life PRO, app from an XDA member. It says everything OK with battery, screenshot below: (translate: No problems founded). And another screnshot of the USB problem. As you guys can see my battery graph is sh*tty, never get to 100% in one day because of this issue.
@gadmei.tw @TecnoTailsPlays (New thread that I was saying).
Please anyone help me, I don't know what to do anymore . I always helped guys with other issues on RR and other rom's issues, now please I need you guys to help me.
Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Brazil and I'm nervous now.
Thanks XDA :crying:
I half read your story .I think your battery is miscalibrated. You need root and a app to calibrate it.
Say thanks if it helped.
Hi,
My moto x pure started charging really slow out of nowhere
Yesterday when i connected it to the turbo charger the message (turbo power connected) didnt showed up so i thought it had something to do with the cable, i changed it to another but the message still wasnt showing. I also tried with my power bank with turbo charger and it wont show up either.
I can live without the turbo charger, but not with how slow it is charging, in the Ampere app it show that is charging at 400 ma.
Is there something i can do? I already wiped the cache and depleted the battery but the problem is still there. At home i will do a factory reset, but i dont have a lot of faith in it.
Also i havent rooted or unlocked the bootloader, it has android 6.0
The end on your turbo charger cord is worn out most likely.
Its not that, i tried with 3 different cables that i knew already work with turboCharger and still wont charge at a normal speed.
I cleaned the phone usb port but didnt do anything, now i want to try with some isopropyl to see if i can clean them.
Anyone got an idea what could be? I already did a factory reset.

The possibilities are pretty limited... list them in order of difficulty to test:
USB Cord
Turbocharger AC adapter
USB port in phone
Battery
Honestly, I would lean towards 1 or 2, the turbo charger that comes with these devices has been known to be of... umm... less than exceptional quality. Otherwise, it is not unheard of for the USB port in the phone to go bad, and the battery is likely pushing 2 years old.

Moto Turbo Chargers are low quality, mine stopped working 2 months in. So I got a 3rd party quick charger. No problems since.
i have battery charging issues as well!!
Shows as USB charger Turbo charger not working even don't show as AC mode! Basically just don't charge only with PC and USB cable! It's original turbocharger and USB connector is fine because it's working fine with PC!
I already have done 3 factory reset from menu and from recovery menu but no success sadly it's very odd issue! Basically every wall charger appear like "USB Charger" no AC or Turbocharger! But connector is fine because it's working fine with PC!
Nothing appears! Only shows charging next to clock but only about 20-30 second After that doesn't show any charging! But very slowly charging 6-7 hours to full.Maybe it's just a coincidence but 2 days after 7.0 update this issue started! I think that connector is fine because with PC it's working fine and transfer files or charging fine
Same happening here just 2 days ago, anyone find a solution?
I had this same problem from today. Today morning turbocharged by my friend's Moto turbocharger. Today evening I use my 2different turbocharger it's not charge quick and very slow charging...
Same here..stock, never unlocked. On latest updates. XT1575 A0.52
Accubattery shows its getting 247mA from a Samsiung Adaptive charger (which always showed up before as a turbo charger, and does fast charge samsung phones.)
Hello,
I just got my lg g6 and when i charge up the phone with the stock charger i encounter an issue.
The phone recognize the quick charge and all but instead of charging up the battery lose percentages and never really charge up.
The cable is correctly inserted both to the charger and to the phone, if i use a non quick charge charger everything works fine so the cable shouldn't be the issue.
In addition, the phone from time to time behaves like the charging disconnects and reconnects. The screen turns on and i see the message "charging" which immediately turn to "quick charging" like if i just inserted the cable, but the battery keeps being drained or just stays at the same %.
I also noticed a very strange battery graph. i'd post a picture but i can't upload images or put links at the moment.
in the time period that it was charging with the stock charger the graph presents a series of blank colums that interrupts the graph and the segmented line is trending downward.
I thought that maybe could be a faulty charger, but i tried it on other phones ( htc one and a lg g3 non qc capable) and it charges them totally fine. So now i really have no idea what could be wrong.
I have stock firmware, no root and locked bootloader.
Any ideas?
Download ampere from play store and see if it really charge
Inviato dal mio LG-H870 utilizzando Tapatalk
I already checked and it shows as charging.
The speed is turbo as well.
Ampere shows a charging value goes from 40mA to peaks of 1200-1300mA (very rare and immediately drop afterward)
I just tested and did a 30 minute charge session, it started at 54% and finished at 53%...
Monday arrives a new quick charge 3.0 charger. If that works i guess i'll blame the stock charger. Otherwise i could think of replacing the phone...
Most of the time this is due to the USB type C connector (both ends) getting dirty/dusty. I just dusted it out with compressed air and it worked fine again. A friend with a Aalaxy A5 (2017) also had this exact problem. Give that a shot and let us know.
I had a spare can of compressed air. Dusted both the usb-c on the cable and the phone and the standard usb male and female on the cable and charger. Waited for any condensation to go away, plugged it in and charged for another 10 minutes but still nothing.
The phone and charger are 4 days old and i bought them from amazon so no egdy e bay sellers. I find it hard i could be something like dust or anything. Anyway now all connectors are squeaky clean but the problem persists.
Frequent disconnections ( i get the bottom text "current connected" even if the cable is still in ) and the battery refuses to go up even 1%.
The strangest thing is that on normal charge with my old g3 it works fine, could it be that quick charge and normal charge are on different circuits? Maybe just the QC one is faulty.
Or even some component manages it with the standard 5v current but when it ramps up to 9 with the QC it gives up.
Sadly i know too little of this stuff to actually come up with a plausible explanation
I would return it as doa.
Ughh i'm gonna wait tomorrow and test with another charger.
I would really hate having to set the whole phone up again from scratch...
If by any chance you have to replace the G6, make a backup with LG Back up on you SD card. When you get the new phone you restore the backup and you 95% done.
Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk
The charger arrived and everything works now.
I was just unlucky thay i got a faulty stock charger.
Might do some test with the cable as well just to check if it works properly.
Thank you for all the replies!
