No complaints on any calls I have made. What are the complaints specifically about?

They are complaining about the noise of surroundings

Hi!
Maybe you could try to change the mic sensitive. I think you will find it at the " settings-> audio & notifications -> accessory settings -> Mic sensitive. "

people on the other side of line complaint about low voice heard

hi..
I'm having a problem with my Jade. People complaining that they can't hear me well whenever I received/make calls...
This problem happened after I hard reset my phone.
I've set the volume to high.
Is there any possible solution for this? Is it hardware problem or software?
Thank you.

1) try to record your speech (as you would normally speak on the phone) and playback. See if it comes out reasonably clear. If it is then your mic is OK.
2) If (1) above is ok, it could be due to several reasons..
a) inter operator signal losses
b) receiver's speaker is having problem
c) receiver's having hearing problem, he needs to see the ENT specialist
c) receiver's in a noisy bus station or bowling alley
Volume control is for you, not for the receiver. Your db is transmitted to the receiver.
Try going to Settings > System > Microfone AGC and change the setting there.
I'm not sure what exactly it does, but certainly something microphone related...
Yes, definitely try this. It should automatically increase or decrease amplification of signal from microphone depending on the sound volume. Also make sure that the microphone hole is not covered by some dirt or your hand during the call.

VoIP on SGS

Please look anybody the SipDroid application working on SGS!
Do I hear the conversation from the earspeaker or the external speaker? (this is interesting because the echo)
I'm useing Asterisk server and I would like to use the pda like a softphone.
With SipDroid i get sound from earpiece. Call quality is quite decent.
I tried a few other VoIP apps and some of them work on earpiece, some not.
Sipdroid works fine.
Others don't. i can hear the other party but they can't hear me.
The same goes to Fring.

Thanx. Give please the version number of SipDroid working properly.
Several questions:
Can you switch between earpiece and external speaker?
Does the program online when it is in 3G and the device is standby?
What about the incoming call during screenlock?

yes - but with external speaker there is a lot of echo. even using earpiece i had to lower earpiece volume as well as mic gain to eliminate all echo.

It wakes up and lets you answer just like with the native phone app.

Are you using pbxes or your own voip provider?
Because I can't get Sipdroid to work on SGS.
On pbxes I can, but the quality is not good and the sound comes out of back speaker and sometimes earphone, its not consistent. I can't get the sound to come out of the earpiece though.
So someone post a solution please. I'm using the latest 1.5.4 beta.
Set the servername to pbxes.com on the phone, and not to pbxes.org. This should solve your earpiece (sound from eksternal speaker) problem.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help with the problem at all. Sound still comes from external speaker and earspeaker, inconsistently.
See issue #366 at sipdroid's project page http://code.google.com/p/sipdroid/issues/detail?id=366

On the I7500, apparently they had the same issue, so made a VOIP kernel..
And yes, I have the same problem.
My workaround at the moment is:
When I receive a call
- I hold it
- wait a few seconds
- then unhold
Then usually the audio doesn't come from the back speaker anymore.
Still, we really need a patched Kernel for this.

[Q] low volume in call

I have this problem.
when im in conversation, the volume is very low. but when im listening to music is much higher.
does anyone have this problem as well?
I know its not a reception problem, since i've tried to talk from same place to the same number (which is land line) with WM and with ANDROID.
I am experiencing the same problem. Maybe we need an Audio Gain driver.

I think in general Android in call volume is low.
I also experience this with Nexus One.
I did install WOW SRS on the HD2 WM rom and it seems to increase the volume of Android running on it.
Can someone confirm this on their devices?
do you feel diffrent in android as well or only in WM?
for me its low only in incoming calls but its good in outgoing calls, any idea why ? people said it a wenn known issue in android and has been solved here , i search a lot with no luck .

I am also noticing this. incoming call volume is low and muffled. outgoing call quality is perfect.

Same problem for me too.
I've noticed a similar problem with loudspeaker too, but in this case, disabling and enabling the loudspeaker during the call usually solves the problem.

You must have the ringer on. The rule of thumb is this.
If the speaker is on (playing something) when a call is made/received. There is low volume in call.
50/50 when you are dialing out. You have the dial touch tone disabled or there was enough time for the speaker to re-gain control (<---?) and thus the call volume is good.
I am praying this issue gets fix pronto.. ... I live in a very very noisy city and I can barely hear the earpiece.

well, my problem is in both calls, the volume for it is lower than WM volume
I guess there is no solution for it for now, might be better later (hopefully).
During the call turn speaker on then off real quick this will raise the volume for you
Hello
A simple solution that worked for me was... Settings>Sound Then turn off audible touch tones. Got this from another member the other day.

Dual microphone: calls quality

I've notice some problems with the quality of the calls, mainly the way people hears me. Looks like the noise cancelling is not working well and the upper microphone is forcing voice cuts.
I did a test putting my finger on the up microphone and people hears me better.
Does anyone have experienced the same problem? Do you know if there is a way to disconnect by software the upper microphone?
Thanks
The upper mic works only for video recording. I want it to cancel the noise in calls, but for now there is not such an option.
Yeah I've got some complaints from people I called that the quality was bad, I sounded far away. I've posted a thread as well. I haven't tried to block the top mic, gonna try that!! I've tried to use the Service Menu to change some mice settings, but I can't get in the appropriate sub menu...
yes - I'd like to know the answer to this too ...
I've done a couple of tests more, its the upper mic...
Just tried to call in a noisy environment, and covering the upper micro made a difference.

NO, you have that option when placing or receiving a call. Just pres menu and activate noise cancelling.
And this is what I use to solve the problem, I deactivate this noise cancelling.
so do i have to deactivate the noise cancelling manually every single time for the better call quality?
Hmm... sucks to be.
I think no noise cancelling has to be default, and we shold be able to activate it when we need.

Yes, I've been looking for, but only found the option to deactivate during a call.
Cloud someone tells us if there is a way to to it permanently?
What base band or firmware version are you guys on? Be buying a note over the weekend andwill test to see if the same problems arise. Singapore version is DXKK1 with XXKJ6 Baseband.

Same problem for me. I have bought my phone here in Latvia. Everytime during the call I need to turn on noise cancelation manualy. Hope, Samsung will make some update soon.
The people I called said that deactivating the noise canceling was a major improvement in sound quality. It's a bummer I have to deactivate it each time I call, there must be a solution for that problem.
But what about the cause of this problem. Is this a firmware issue or is the upper mic defect? I would like to hear from more people, we can't be the only ones having this problem.. If the mic is defect I'm sending my note back to the supplier.

Gsmarenas review is up: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_n7000-review-676.php
gsmarena is reporting excellent call quality and audio (music) quality.
now which magical test unit did they receive?
In my case no one complained of audio quality, they said that the voice just sound perfect. And this thing happened on both SGS2 and Note with noise cancelation on.
So tiny holes each on top and bottom of the phone are microphones!
I thought they were water drainage holes
