I have this problem.
when im in conversation, the volume is very low. but when im listening to music is much higher.
does anyone have this problem as well?
I know its not a reception problem, since i've tried to talk from same place to the same number (which is land line) with WM and with ANDROID.
I am experiencing the same problem. Maybe we need an Audio Gain driver.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I think in general Android in call volume is low.
I also experience this with Nexus One.
I did install WOW SRS on the HD2 WM rom and it seems to increase the volume of Android running on it.
Can someone confirm this on their devices?
do you feel diffrent in android as well or only in WM?
for me its low only in incoming calls but its good in outgoing calls, any idea why ? people said it a wenn known issue in android and has been solved here , i search a lot with no luck .

Same problem for me too.
I've noticed a similar problem with loudspeaker too, but in this case, disabling and enabling the loudspeaker during the call usually solves the problem.

You must have the ringer on. The rule of thumb is this.
If the speaker is on (playing something) when a call is made/received. There is low volume in call.
50/50 when you are dialing out. You have the dial touch tone disabled or there was enough time for the speaker to re-gain control (<---?) and thus the call volume is good.
I am praying this issue gets fix pronto.. ... I live in a very very noisy city and I can barely hear the earpiece.

well, my problem is in both calls, the volume for it is lower than WM volume
I guess there is no solution for it for now, might be better later (hopefully).
During the call turn speaker on then off real quick this will raise the volume for you
Hello
A simple solution that worked for me was... Settings>Sound Then turn off audible touch tones. Got this from another member the other day.

Hi.
while on call, everyone is having problems hearing me, i even did the test myself with one friend, and the micro cannot have one perceptible reception.
But, while in sound recorder mode, it works ok.
Is there any way to improve the microphone volume while in call? (patches, software, etc)
It might help

I enabled the microphone auto gain control. So far, I have not received any complaint from the people I talk to, on the phone.
but i have that option enabled :/
without it, is even worse
It was always like this, or started suddenly? Maybe it's an hardware problem?
i never used this device often, but only noticed this when i changed to wm6
it is happening too on wm5.
anyone have spare mics?
strange, the voice recorder is working
same problem

Hi all,
The call quality of the HD2 is very good. Reception is great, people understand me very well and I can understand them very good.
My only problem is that the sound is so loud, when I'm using my phone at my ear (so without speaker or bluetooth).
Do you have this as well? Is there somewhere a master volume that can be set?
To be clear: the volume is already at the minimum...
Thanks!
Koen
Does the earpiece speaker also pop/crackle somtimes when the tones are high or very loud? I hear a ticking in the earpiece speaker.. that is very anoying!
Will probably swap my device for a new one.
Not really.
But as I find it now too loud, I don't like to use to make normal phonecalls.
Koen
I have the same problem..
One weird thing though, it's only on outgoing calls, incoming the sound isnt too loud!
i had the same problem but only with outgoing calls an mine sounded terrible, still does( think my speaker is broken)
You can edit the registry.
in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Controlpanel\Soundcategories\ you have INCALL and INCALL 2, i think one is ingoing and one is outgoing calls.
Edit Initvol, i have both mine on 2 now. and the volume is much better!

Thanks, now it's great!!!
I've got the exact same thing!
The quality is great, but sometimes the volume is just way too loud, almost up to the point where it hurts my ear.
One additional thing is when I get a notification on the background that a message has arrived during one of those loud calls, volume actually switches back to normal.
In my registry incall2 was set to 5. Resetted it to 2, hope it works
could anyone clarify
Where can I find that
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Controlpanel\Soundcategories\ you have INCALL and INCALL 2 thing. Please help! How do I enter registry?

Made the first step, done the things in the register, but the volume is still too high. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if I did a soft-reset, but you might just give it a shot.
Both outgoing and incoming call volumes are now fine on my device...
[edit]
Actually got another loud outgoing call..
When I took a better look at the inCall and inCall2 properties, they seem to be for the notifications you get when you're in a call.
So changing them to '2' is OK, but doesn't actually solve this issue.
It may be an explanation to why my sound swapped back to normal after receiving a notification though.

Tried a soft reset too, but my ears still hurt! Any other suggestions?
This is totally unacceptable, has nobody got a cure for this? I can't use my *phone* as a phone, the volume is deafening! Both speakerphone and earpiece are way too loud, even on the lowest volume setting.
try this one
Here's a solution : you need to use the Schapman advanced configuration tool v3.3 (freeware).
Go to "HTC audio manager" -> set "music volume" (or something close, I don't know of it is labelled in english, I only have the french version) to 30 or above (below 100, which is the maximum) and then soft reset your device.

I can't seem to get this to do the trick. Is there anyone out there who has used a program to specifically lower the earpiece and speakerphone volume on their HD2 'Leo'? I'm going to have to return my handset if I can't lower the volume. I love the phone but if I can't make calls on it it's useless!
*bump*
This needs keeping near the top as it's a MASSIVE problem. Doesn't *everyone* find their HD2 far too loud??
It happened to me only once, when I woke up, press power button to get the screen on and dialed a cab, it was way too much loud.
Today I made some calls, received them as well, and it was ok.

Does anyone have a link to the part of the site where these supposed hotfixes will be....and how long will they be coming, any ideas? So far it's the speakerphone & earpiece volume which are of the utmost importance for me, then the pink camera etc etc etc.
Please look anybody the SipDroid application working on SGS!
Do I hear the conversation from the earspeaker or the external speaker? (this is interesting because the echo)
I'm useing Asterisk server and I would like to use the pda like a softphone.
With SipDroid i get sound from earpiece. Call quality is quite decent.
I tried a few other VoIP apps and some of them work on earpiece, some not.
Sipdroid works fine.
Others don't. i can hear the other party but they can't hear me.
The same goes to Fring.

Thanx. Give please the version number of SipDroid working properly.
Several questions:
Can you switch between earpiece and external speaker?
Does the program online when it is in 3G and the device is standby?
What about the incoming call during screenlock?

yes - but with external speaker there is a lot of echo. even using earpiece i had to lower earpiece volume as well as mic gain to eliminate all echo.

It wakes up and lets you answer just like with the native phone app.

Are you using pbxes or your own voip provider?
Because I can't get Sipdroid to work on SGS.
On pbxes I can, but the quality is not good and the sound comes out of back speaker and sometimes earphone, its not consistent. I can't get the sound to come out of the earpiece though.
So someone post a solution please. I'm using the latest 1.5.4 beta.
Set the servername to pbxes.com on the phone, and not to pbxes.org. This should solve your earpiece (sound from eksternal speaker) problem.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help with the problem at all. Sound still comes from external speaker and earspeaker, inconsistently.
See issue #366 at sipdroid's project page http://code.google.com/p/sipdroid/issues/detail?id=366

On the I7500, apparently they had the same issue, so made a VOIP kernel..
And yes, I have the same problem.
My workaround at the moment is:
When I receive a call
- I hold it
- wait a few seconds
- then unhold
Then usually the audio doesn't come from the back speaker anymore.
Still, we really need a patched Kernel for this.
Hello,
I have an issue that i'm having when i call people with Viber on my Google Nexus 4. While using the phone speaker or the earpiece i hear the voice of the person i'm speaking with clearly without any audio buzzing but when i use the earphones, i'm hearing a background buzzing even before the connection is established with the person while it's still ringing. I also have a Bluetooth headset and it's working perfectly , this issue only appears when using the earphones . I've also tried different earphones without any success.
Does anybody have the same issue ?
Thank's
Can anyone try to reproduce this issue on his phone please, so i can know if it is a hardware problem and eventually send my Nexus 4 back to google for repairing.
Thank you.

No it seems finally to be a proximity sensor problem because i was able to reproduce it with an application which turns off the screen even when not incall and the buzzing appeared while listening to music !!! It was this topic which made me "smell a rat" : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2129140&highlight=proximity
Then i decided to disable the proximity sensor since it will solve my problem and still i can use lock unlock during a call, so i tried the build.prop solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626611 without success
and then i tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658474 without success too.
Any idea please to help me solve my problem ?
Hi all,
The microphone of my decreases the volume during the call till the others can t ear me. Some times 10 seconds are enough tho the others no longer hear me.
Any one have a idea what can be the root cause of this issue, and who fix it?

Hello,
i got the same issue , this is something related to Noise Reduction activation .
go to phone-->settings-->call--> you will see under Ringtones and settings that Noise Reduction is enabled , turn it off and try again .
i think even though the voice is still not high ! i tested that with my friend and he said my voice is much better after disabling Noise Reduction Feature but it's still not loud and clear enough ! maybe there is an option regarding that .
