Hi Guys.
To start i would like apologize about my language.
I receive today my new LG V20 model H990DS with dual sim (phone i bought to UK in EBAY), i know is not official release to UK.
Phone was not unboxed, not used early, with protection tape, looks everything brand new.
First starting after phone booting i see freezing phone in menu (not was fast how LG G5), becouse my previous phone was LG G5 and i know should act quickly work, but LG G5 and V20 have the same processors, and same RAM, then i thinking is something wrong.
I install Antutu (latest version from Shop play) and maked test
Result very often under 100.000 (89000) point, 2 times was 110000
One time when i off phone to half hour, later power on and first what i run was antutu result in antutu was 131000.. (automaticly after this test i run 2nd test and was 105000) hmmmm behavior how Snapdragon 810 with overheating CPU and decrease power? i forget sygndrome name...
- Antutu 6.2.6 (latest version downloaded from Shop Play) show me all correct details about my Phone, i mean Model, procesor, ram, gpu, and rest.
- Android 7.0
Baseband version:
MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00011-
M8996FAAAANAZM-1.68646.1.69323.1
Kernel version:
3.18.31
Build number:
NRD90M
Software version:
V10a-TWN-XX
What is Strange.
1) I wrote 2 imei numbers to website with check imei and website show mi model V10 H960A
What do you think guys.
Bugs in Android? Bad quality phone or what?
Sorry but keep comparing performance over Antutu is completely no sense and crazy.
Yes, the V20 is slower than the G5 (I have both too), but it's probably because of the firmware. We are with the version 1 (V10a), and I am waiting and waiting for an update and nothing.
People that bought the phone in Hong Kong already have the V10B version. Probably much more smoother.
I have H990N on v10b seems no performance issue so far
Everyone with the v10B version has no complain. But nothing appear for the dual sim version... At least the model bought in Philippines.
Good Morning Guys
I would Like thank you very much for any answers.
Yes antutu every time show me diffrent result, what is crazy.
Today morning (caple minutes ago, when i wake up) when phone was charged to 100% and cold, antutu generated over 149.000 point (was great Result), automaticly i run 2nd test and was 133079, 3rd test test stop and long stay to 70% test, i close apps and run test again, result:133079, 4th test 127270 (test maked within 1 minute...hmmmmm too fast) 5th test 107790.
After this tests Phone is not hot, not warm, just little little bit warm (my opinion normaly using temperature)
Yes i have first firmware 10a, then maybe here is problem (lots bugs), i try update firmware but to this moment is Latest.

" mrhizzo" you say V20 is slower what G5.... hmmmmm my G5 generated 136000 this one phone 149000, and lots test what i check to video at internet, v20 very often generated Over 145000.
But my G5 i several tests in a row and was always the same result, what i preffered less point but stable.
I just ask guys becouse i dont know what doing.. Return my examp to Seller, be send me another model, maybe this series is faulty, or maybe software bugs.
Everyone answers is very Helpfully.
I had my V20 since first day which was the 28th, out of the box it was 10a firmware, and a update was already waiting for you to download and installed, I didn't install the update right away, as many people on XDA usually wait for a lab rat to test this out first, but I could wait, there was so many problems, and the phone was quite unstable, so I updated, much better and stable and runs smoother.
My unit was the Hong Kong H990N dual sim version.
As for the post above me, I also have both the G5 and V20, G5 is much faster and stable, and I never rely on test benchmark for results, only personal usablilty.
People who keep doing benchmark to see "the speed of the phone" should get a life. Completely crazy.

Apologize if you think is to me Antutu and result points there is determinant of speed,
although little is.
My old Samsung Note Edge (Snapdragon 805 and 3gb ram) already freezed very often, 3 week ago i bought LG G5, i install the same apps what to Note and never G5 freeze me. Yesterday V20 withing 2-3 minutes first using i see something wrong, this is why i install antutu..
but what was if i like play in game.... stable around 140000 point and 90000 it is big comparison. and my opinion drastic drop down points (performance) is not normal.

Is the game battery saver on?
I have h990ds model with 10a version of firmware and I see the same results as you guys, antutu score is about 100000 max, moreover I see that cpu is barely hit 1,8 GHz, below screenshot was taken after antutu and 3dmax couple of tests... Maybe this will be fixed after upgrade to 10b? Nevertheless the overall phone performance is very good, I have no lags whatsoever

Hi all, I have h990ds variant and I have same exact problems with the original poster -- I am still running on v10a but when I manually update it does not detect any updates, says im using latest version. Is there any way I could download and install v10b manually?
Thanks

Yes -- apparently it recognizes my V20 but then it says "Cannot check the software version Try again" when I click on Software update.
Any ideas?

actually nothing... lg bridge doesn't find any update, if you manually check for any OTA update on your phone it won't find it either... i've scoured the web looking for a newer firmware for this model, but it would seem like we are stuck with v10a
so i guess we have to wait

Actually its strange cause in my local FB groups here H990ds owners posted that they were already getting FOTA updates for v10b...
Check my attachment - -I will get more info when I can.
The only problem I am really annoyed is that the phone slows done after some time and apps start to crash, video playback of any kind stops, video recording also fails. And it has happened liek 10 times now, the solution is I have to reboot it to fix it.

oh that's interesting!
are you sure it was an H990DS that received that update? and not H990N?
they are both dual sim, and for the latter a firmware update actually came available a few days ago, exactly the 10b release... could this be the case?
any idea where the user who posted that picture is from? i could try my luck with a VPN connection in case you knew

i read "quezon city", so it's philippines... let me check just to make sure in case it was a DS

ok, so i tried with a VPN connection, server in Manila, still no update available under software update.
and same with LG Bridge, both on windows and osx. no luck!
The V10b is almost the same as V10A. The rom is still very very bad. They should bring the phone to the market in a much more stable way than the actual.

I agree, should of made sure its stable before release or have mm, and allow pepole to upgrade to ng.
That being said the 10 b is slightly better than 10a in a way of stability.

You can see in windows recovery tool
I still did not receive it on my unlocked UK 950XL
It looks like anyone who is an Insider is not receiving it for some reason.
You can get it using the Microsoft Recovery Tool, but you will need to backup data first, and it will also put you back on the .11 build so you'll need to update again after it too.
I just tried the recovery tool to see what it is like. I have to say, I am very impressed. Fully automated, much better than android.

I haven't tried it yet. Might have a play on the weekend to get the new firmware.
Just picked up my 950 (non-xl) from the store, tried to setup Cortana, and it kept failing to download the speech pack, Googled around a bit, got pointed too the 'Windows Device Recovery Tool', installed it on my PC, plugged in phone, choose the phone in the software, and it instantly came with a message saying there's a update, accepted it, 5 minutes later its done, no effort what-so-ever (like others here, ive seen my fair share of issues with Android updates, so this is certainly a nice plus)
On the downside it does forget your contacts n such, but it warns you for that beforehand and tells you how to back it up, so all is fair

It depends how you have your contacts setup. I have them linked to my live account, so when I wipe the phone, it automaticly pulls them down again.
Ah, that makes sense, pmuch the same as what Google and Apple are doing then.
In the end i skipped over making a backup (since it was said that that would keep Cortana from not working) and just transfered my contacts and text's from my Android phone again. That worked great (somehow, Cortana does not, but thats for another thread i guess nvm Cortana works now aswell)

I have much better user experience when I upgraded to newest firmware... OS is much, much faster, less buggy, programs are opening faster, CPU is not overheating as it used to and battery life is improved. For me it is huuuuuge step forward in the right direction, and thumbs up as I remember what piece of shi*t was Win 10 mobile on Lumia 950 XL when I bought it, and now two weeks later user experience is different like day and night. With this firmware they should launch new Lumias on the markets, reviews would be much more homogenous and would praise OS as it could easily compete with Andorid/iOS.
P.S. I came from .36 insider program and I used Windows Device Recovery Tool. Now I have .29 build with the newest firmware.

Very good to hear about improved experience.
I was on .36.
Using the recovery tool I have rolled back to .29.
However it seems like I am still on the old firmware 01078.00017xxxx.
My phone is not picking up the update.
any idea why could that be happening?

Strange, as immediately after Recovery tool found my phone, I got notification about the update. It was about 2,95 GB big. I think only difference between our phones is that I have language and location settings set for Slovenian/Slovenia. Maybe this played the difference. Maybe they gradually roll out the update, first in smaller countries (like Slovenia) to check the feedback, and then to bigger (UK, Germany, USA, etc..). Btw I updated the phone from Win 10 Pro laptop...
Hope it helps
If you don't see the firmware update in the recovery tool yet, then it has not been approved for you yet.
Since it's firmware I think your local carrier has to test it, and then approve it. If you are on ATT, good luck. They typically take their time with stuff like this. Also in the US most people are off work until Jan 4th.

I finally got it last night.
Overall it feels better.
I experienced a problem though.
I was watching youtube videos (using edge browser) after the update while the phone was charging through the wall charger. 950XL restarted 3 times. It was pretty hot so made me think it was related to overheating?
Did not seem to have any problems after that.
I was .36, after firmware update in the recovery tool the phone was downgraded to the .29 but with the new firmware. After that, like insider, new upgrade to the (again) .36 BUT with the new firmware.....
ouch....
But now, I have much better user experience, OS is much faster, less buggy, programs are opening faster, CPU is not overheating and battery life is seems improved.

Lost this a little... once you were on .29 and had the new firmware, how did you get to .36?
EDIT: one needs to be on the Insider Preview... let's see if the firmware is preserved.
EDIT 2: Yes, the updated firmware is still intact after the Insider Preview update to .36
(The FM Radio app has disappeared though).
Simply checking for upgrade from the phone menu.
Again, I'm "an insider" (fast)..
start again the Insider app, choose "fast insider", reboot the phone and then check the upgrade
still nothing, recovery tool says firmware up to date also 01078.00017.15454.29005
Can we trick the update server with fiddler so it doesn't see that we're using an insider build and download the new firmware without the recovery tool?
hey, i just bought my lg g6 yesterday (fully updated it) and when i started playing games i did notice so lag low fps at some points in hearthstone and minecraft was around 25 fps (don't know if that's ok or not..) so i went to benchmark my phone on atutu (background apps all closed) and my score was 100000 on the 3d which is the no where near what it should be for my phone, i did a factory reset turned on forced gpu rendering and got just over 110000 which is still much lower than it's supposed to be, is my phone defective or is it a software issue. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

May be something wrong with your phone. An average Antutu score for G6 is around 130-140.000 so having only around 100.000 is a lot lower than expected.
Did you benchmark when the phone was cold or did you bench immediately after playing a game, while the phone was still warm? What was your highest score?

Have you tried hard resetting the phone? I mean a proper "hold power button + volume down hard" reset?
mines the same, around 100-110k similar results with game saver off and on. But I'm not bothered, as long as it gives me the great battery life like it is so far. I don't mind if its cpus are spun up a bit slower than the competition.
Could it be that DS model "only" gets 100k? I see 2 of you here with DS and 100k score. I got EU H870 and get, and always got, 140k which is on par with Pixel XL with same SoC.
can you guys share a screen shot with sub scores?
My sub scores are:
3D: 40185
UX: 36039
CPU: 24312
RAM: 6211
Total: 106747
So where are we lagging, which department?
edit: all apparently, 40k difference is a big difference, I'm sure this translates to real life performance difference aka the mild lag in games the OP was talking about.
i saw a screen shot where for people getting 140+k-155k its
3D: 60k
UX: 50k
CPU: 30K
Ram: 11k
How can there such a difference with the supposedly same parts...unless they aren't?

Check that theres no background apps running that can cause lag (like facebook app), try clearing system cache and restarting your phone, see if it helps.
Since you got good score i doubt it's phones hardware at fault here. Pretty sure you got apps in the background causing that lag.
Also, why do you have wi-fi and mobile data on at the same time? Isn't that unnecessary?

Why would you not have both on at the same time? Android prioritizes wifi over mobile. For those with a limited data plan it is helpful for the phone to switch over automatically to wifi when you are in range of a saved wifi signal.

I know but it also turns off mobile when connected to wifi, to save battery, and his isn't turned off, it's both turned on.
You gotta turn that setting on first (it isn't by default) which he probably didn't do so he has wifi and mobile working at the same time which can be a pretty significant battery drain.

Forgive the naive question but which setting is this? "Switch to Mobile Data" under wifi? even with data switched off my status bar still looks like both are working.

It all began a couple of weeks ago when my G4 suddenly crashed while I was using it. The screen turned black and it didn't restart itself. So I turned it back on and there it was, a nice endless bootanimation. The phone did nothing else than bootlooping.
But I am not someone who gives up easily so I tried to boot into TWRP, which booted up successfully and I formatted the whole phone. I started up LG UP to restore my phone with a clean KDZ to see if it would boot up. And yes it did and seemed to work properly so I thought maybe I had some bad luck. But unfortunately after a couple of days the same thing happend again. I booted up TWRP again and tried an AOSP based ROM instead of a LG Stock ROM to see if the same thing would happen again. And yes eventually the same thing happend again.
It seems that my G4 finally turned into a bootlooping brick. I give up. I've had a really nice 3 years with this device even with all the problems it had. I absolutely loved it's camera, that's what mostly kept me to use this device. But I am not planning to buy an other LG device anytime soon, beside all the nice features this device has, like a SD-Card slot, removable battery and the awesome camera, they simply do not make up for all the problems this device has. It's an absolute shame because it could have been the perfect phone for many years. But LG's bad update policy, quality control and support made me to decide to step away from LG. For now I'll be using my old Nexus 5 for a while as a daily driver till I can afford a new device. I want to thank all the dev's for their efforts and time they spend in their awesome work, you've have made and gave us many awesome Mods, Kernels and ROMs to try and enjoy.
Good bye.

Just flash kernel with big cores disabled and you can still use your device afterwards.

Nahh thanks for the suggestion but beside that it will make the phone pretty slow it still has it's problems. So in my eyes it's not worth it.

I would recommend to do it just to have a backup phone if anything goes wrong with the new one or you can repurpose it as a camera or media player.

Well now you brought me on some idea's :good:, might just use that method to still be able to use my device as a camera. That's what I love the most of the LG G4.
Its not that bad on disabled cores. My first G4 was a faulty one I got very cheap and just disabled the cores to get it working. It did die eventually though. I loved the phone so much that I got a new one with 701 s/n. Wasn't so much faster as I was expecting.. Going strong since !

If you don't mind .. I would love to use your device as a testing device. If you have some free time and wanting to help me with my unofficial unlock.. I need to test a thing which may convert the device or makes it completely bricked. But as you said it's dead for you anyways.. So.. Let me know

I did notice a pretty big difference, especially when I'm multitasking/switching apps. Tried the big cores disable method a while ago just to see how big the difference would be. It doesn't make the device unusable slow but I do need more speed to use it as a daily driver. And I don't really trust my G4 since it became more unstable while time passed. So that's why I'm back to my Nexus 5 for now. And I'm not planning to send back my device to repair it again or for an replacement because I'm pretty much done with LG for now.

I would love to help, really appreciate all the work you have done. Tomorrow I will have free time to help and test. And I'm not afraid to brick my device. If I brick it I can still use it for spare parts because my sister has a G4 to and she cracked it's screen. So it won't be wasted if things go wrong. :good:
Why you just dont send it to LG service so it get fixed? It is still really good phone, so dont give up yet.

Well because my device has been fixed once already and LG failed to fix all the issues it had. About 2 years ago I sent my G4 back because it had a really bad image retention problem (not to confuse with burn ins, that are 2 different things), the battery life was absolutely garbage and it heated up way to quick. The overheating problem bothered me the most and it worried me because it might been a sign that it would bootloop eventually. Luckily LG approved to repair my device but after a year or so all the problems it had came back and now it seems that it finally started to bootloop. I'm done, even when I send back my device it would probably show the same problems after a while. I don't trust this device anymore, it's in my opinion unreliable.

They cant fix the bootloop. They can fix the issue, but bootloop is a design problem.
I have 505 not yet bootlooped. Battery life is bad and it does heat alot. Still, the phone is really good to use.
Yep, with this phone, you need to have a backup phone... Im not sure what phone i would like to get. Smaller display would be nice, this is hard to use only with one hand.
I have been using my G4 H815P (locked bl) downgraded from MM to L with Artic Silver 5 compound and a small heatsink

plus changing the copper tape insulation on top of the processor.
I have root and have disabled the two big cores and set the small core to 1440mhz and big core to powersave 384mhz because with kernel auditor it does not allow you to disable both cores at once. Been using the device for about a month or so. Will upload pictures this weekend if anyone wants to do this "mod".

Sure thing!
I hope to have some time this weekend to take some pictures and document all the process. As I used a "rework" station to recover my G4 from the ILAPO at first.
I am, by no means, a developer nor programmer but I understand the concept. I have a theoretical question just based on looking at the specs of these phones.
The ZE552KL (ZenFone 3) and ZE553KL (ZenFone 3 Zoom) are both nearly twins. There's a few things that differ, but they're running the same chipset (thus same CPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 MSM8953), same graphics (Adreno 506).
The differences are the screen resolutions, camera resolutions, WiFi chip (Zoom has no 5GHz support?), SIM 2 supports more bands on the Zoom.
I own the Zoom and I'm shocked that there's no Lineage OS for it, but I was scratching my head on a couple of theories.
The question I have is ... would the Lineage OS 14.1 ROM for the ZE552KL work on the ZE553KL? Has anybody tried this?
Thanks, in advance, to anybody who responds.
I own a zoom as well and I'd really appreciate a Lineage rom for this.
I would like to know as well!

My guess would be that those differences are just enough to preclude the ZE552KL Lineage ROM from working with our devices.
On the plus side (I hope) maybe those differences are easy to overcome and some willing dev will attempt to do so.
Please..!
Would very much appreciate this as well!!!
We could always do a little fundraiser to pay a developper to do the work for us?
Hardware wise the phones are damn near identical, so there shouldn't be much of an issue porting over Lineage. The only hiccup would be getting the secondary camera to work I'd imagine, but that's not a big deal.
The real issue isn't technical, it's just that the phone doesn't seem popular enough for any developer interest sadly.

Sadly I can't
I haven't got the ZE553KL and the time to support another phone...
ZE553KL is (was) by far the best Phone/Camera in mid-range budget.
As anything Asus, it suck because of software.
Its like dev never actually read reviews. 2000 ROM for a self-burning 900USD Samsung and none for this fine device.
Its just unfair.
Well, I've bought the Zoom phone recently and I can agree with what was said:
- Great hardware
- Crappy software
Seeing there are no usable custom ROMs mean I'll most likely return the phone :-/

Oh that's too bad. There's a similar thread regarding the lack of custom ROMs too so I'll ask you the same question: What is it that you're finding with the software that you feel would be solved with a custom ROM? Not trying to be argumentative, just genuinely curious.

Hi koimr!
Strange, I was sure I already replied your question, but it seems the reply was not saved... Anyway I miss the possibility to display the soft buttons and customise the LED notifications and generally I feel like there are not many things to customise.
But I wonder if anybody actually tried to install a Zenfone 3 custom ROM on Zenfone 3 zoom...
(Hope I'll visit Canada some day )

Hi there Biges,
To give an answer to your question, someone already tried flashing lineage os from the zenfone 3 to their zenfone 3 zoom in the past (that thread is gone now) and it hard bricked their device. Wasn't able to recover from it sadly.
Other than that, you may look forward for it to arrive sometime in the future

You're only getting a 4-6h SOT? I don't own the phone anymore but with my extensive use, I would only charge the phone once by 2 days. My phone was root, I was using magisk and greenify, nothing too fancy. Listening to music all day, always browsing the web or facebook, instagram, messenger, webtoons, etc and I was getting a good 2 days use.
I simply wanted more customization and an os closer to the stock android which is why CM / Lineage OS was a good pick for me.
Although I now own a Huawei P20 due to my AZ3Z screen broke because of a 2 feets fall... (approximately 60cm fall) so that demand doesn't apply to me anymore. I still sometimes miss my az3z, good phone!

Well that is the case after OREO 8.0.0 update, i didn't begin modifying the phone myself because i'm on hold for the upcoming Lineage 15.1 ROM that a developer (KEVEN) is working on so i'm still in hope mode, i knew that 2.5D glass is a weak engineering so screen protector and armored metal case was crucial since day 1.
Hi There,
i'm new here, in fact this is my very first post in here, i have been an outside observer, i have found solution to problems in this site and helped me helping friends, and i'm grateful,
but today i come with a more of a personal question, i'm kind of a newbie, but i have always found my way around things, by either trying, or following tutorials on the internet, expect this problem.
I own a Nova 3i, it is written on the box, and my phone has all the Nova 3i specs, expect it is not a Nova 3i, it is an Huawei P Smart+ as it's model is INE-LX1, and i have been trying to update it to Pie, but no luck, all Nova 3i Posts are either talking about INE-LX2 or some other models starting with INE.
First of all, i always had to use the Hisuite app on Windows to update my Phone, as the builtin update option never detects the update even after trying for a quite few times and even after endless reboots, but that's not why i'm here.
I have found this app (Thank to XDA Forum) Frimware Finder for Huawei, and it detect that my model is INE-LX1C185, i checked all available updates, but i always end up with the "The Frimware is not approved for installation" message.
This is frustration, and it is kind of sad.
so is there a way to get the Pie update for my model or not?

It looks like to be your device running pie, you could possibly contact the uploader about it.

Never knew about Project treble until now, i have done some research, and it seems that you are correct it is supported, first i wanted to tell you that, i got a reply from the video uploaded informing me he can't share anything, second, from what i understand is it possible to install other android pie roms to my INE-LX1 ?
one last thing to mention, while INE-LX1 the P Smart+ supposed to have 64GB storage, my device have 128GB, yet it is an INE-LX1 which is frustrating...
I have LNE-LX1 too and didn't get the update, I'm from tunisia. LNE-LX2 users got pie long ago :/ .
LNE-LX1 users in pakistan got the official pie update today so I guess it'll reach everyone else really soon ^^ .

Yeah I'd say possible, it looks like a different format that I've seen so far, I've only had a glance but would be similar in a way to most I'd say.
The hardware is probably in most ways identical.
Some models of the nova 3i come with 64Gb storage over here too but I think only the 128Gb model is now available.
Do you have 6Gb of RAM or only 4Gb too?
I haven't received the Pie update either just yet, so in the same boat. Everyone that has a different country code or what not has an older version number than the one available to me on the non-official huawei firmware app so I think it's slowly going on a kind of testing phase as it's released.

hi There, my device is the 4Gb and 128 Storage model.
i actually received the Pie update few days ago, and just now(a few minutes ago) i received another update.
Few things to mention, even tho my device is somewhat new(only fews months old) i have been using the Orio for quite sometime, enough to get things into perspective and come up with a full opinion, here's a few things i noticed after/before/while updating:
While the update itself from Orio to pie was actually very very fast, updating from 9.0.1.156 to 9.0.1.162 took longer.
now to the differences between pie and Orio:
Pie is faster, like real faster, loading times, battery lifetime, responsiveness, app launching...
- Going into gallery used to take a while to load the pictures and you can see the photos loading while you scrolling, now with pie, it is instant like almost.
- Navigating system setting is considerably faster, (i have disabled all timing relation animation from the developer options in both version for testing purposes), while with Orio when you click a setting, there is a noticeable lag time, like you can feel it took a second to load, now with Pie you click and it just opens.
- Going into setting>apps, Orio, it takes a few seconds to load the app list, Now almost instantly.
- Overall device responsiveness is way better, as if it anticipating my moves, especially when navigation the main menu.
- Better gaming experiences, less frame drops, well not less, there is none anymore, as far as i can tell in my cases.
- Better battery life time.
- With Orio, there was some visual glitches, here and there, not always but sometime you can see it, now with Pie it is butter smooth, and consistent, iOS level.
- More clean and smooth Task manager or bar.
- and last but not least, it might be me, but the Camera behaves a lot better, and with a slightly improved image quality.
Overall experience is positive, one thing to mention is that the task bar icons has slightly shifted to the right, this is the only bad things i have found and it is almost nothing, now i'll keep you updated with the 162 updates if you want.
and oh forgot to mention, Pie uses a little bit more ram than Orio, while not so quite, Orio 8.1 used to consume a lot of ram, like always 1.3Gb of free ram, with the 8.2 version at least the last update before Pie the 137 i think, i usually have up to 2.2gb 2.3 of free ram, like almost, never under 2.02, now with Pie, that has gone down a bit, i'm usually @1.78 1.73 free ram while on idle, any here's some pics.

Okay, so, I downloaded HiSuite and was able to install the 8.2.0.137 update but I didn't get the 9.0.1.162 one. Why is that? Also, in the Firmware Finder app, the 9.0.1.162 update was "approved" for my device but I don't know how I should install it using the app. Please help me out here, thanks.
