Can anyone pkease help. I've been having problems after uninstalling some games and apps, the apps are gone and removed but I never gain the storage back that the games take up. I've searched for residual files and folders that may have been left after uninstalling but can't find any. It doesn't always happen and seems to be totally random. It's really starting to annoy the hell out of me now and must have lost 15-20gb of precious storage space. I really don't want to have to do a factory reset as it has taken weeks to get my phone how I want it, I,e many games, many apps and many settings etc. I have tried everything I can think of. Surely I can't be the only one that is experiencing this but I can't find anything relating to it on the net.
Thanks again in advance.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with 6.0.1 android and a uk version.

hey, i have an unrooted mt4g about a week ago i had to do a hard reset on it to fix a market problem but i was able to recover most of my apps and was going from there with little problem until a few days the "low internal storage" message started showing in my notifications. since seeing it, i have looked through my apps and realize there is no possible way they can take up that much space by themselves (though i deleted some i didnt use oping to abate the problem). right now, im trying to go phone storage to see if anything unnecessary is lurking there but im having trouble deciphering the files
im sure its not becaause of apps because before the initial reset, i had even more apps than currently without this problem. its like it materialized out of nowhere
i still have the low storage problem and im wonderiung of its due to something like an error stacking log or temp files. or maybe an app i installed did something to the phone memory. is there anyway to fix this and be certain of the problem or will another reset be necessary
Hi I have been having issues with running out of storage space on my new S5 and was wondering if anyone here knew of any good apps to help me out that wouldn't involve me loosing my precious media files as I dont have a pc at the moment and have nothing else to store these files on, I know you can compress files on a pc and was wondering if there is any good apps out there for this ? another way Ive thought of would be to get a app like ccleaner but for my phone and again does anyone know of any good apps for this ? If anyone else has any ideas or knows of any other ways I would be able to save storage space, also doesn't matter if the apps are paid or not but I won't be rooting my phone for awhile yet.
Any help/advice etc is greatly appreciated and my phone is only a 16GB with a 32GB sd card (Yes Ive realised this isn't enough but can't afford a bigger sd card yet)
BTW I dont know a whole hell of alot about this phone yet
Try Clean Master.
The stock storage manager in the stock settings works pretty well foe the internal sd card, breaks down everything by whats taking what, even lets you clear the cache.

You should try clearing cache. I had a similar storage problem on my S3 Mini and when I cleared cache, boom, everything was back to normal
My Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V) Running Baseband APD2 on Android 6.0.1 Has had issues with Multiple Applications Constantly Crashing, On Nebulous it takes me back to the home screen randomly, and on youtube videos they randomly close. I've tried clearing the cache from the recovery and storage. I haven't rommed/rooted my phone either. Could anyone try explaining why this happens? Its super annoying because I just Transferred from a iPhone 5S. I have had the phone for about two months and this is a wonderful welcome back to android... I am trying to avoid a factory reset but it I have to I will, but I'd Prefer that that doesn't happen.
For the vast majority it is a problem free phone. Have you tried a factory reset? It is a pain, but usually clears up the weirdness.
I never find it too much of a pain for myself to do a factory reset. I use the Google Now launcher and it remembers the apps I have installed. So after a wipe, my apps will still be on all of my screens, but just black and white letting me know they haven't been installed yet. I don't install any apps onto my SD card, all of my contacts are backed up to Google, and all of my pictures and videos are stored on my SD.
Maybe you could set up the same just to have your apps reinstalled which is honestly the worst part? I would not recommend backing up the data of the apps due to not knowing what is exactly causing the problem, so do that at your own risk.

Sometimes its an app that isn't properly supported by the developer or updated by the user that can cause other issues elsewhere.
Hi, does anyone know if installing official system updates will remove the adoptable storage work around. I've heard that Samsung have removed the work around in an update. I really don't want to update and lose the adoptable storage as I have spent weeks installing all my stuff and moving over etc, but would like to keep the phone upto date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.
It shouldn't but who knows?
Yeah can't find a definitive answer anywhere unfortunately.
Not sure if I should post this one here or not but it is about adoptable storage, I can start a new thread if needed. I've searched for residual files and folders that may have been left after uninstalling but can't find any. It doesn't always happen and seems to be totally random. Again I really don't want to have to do a factory reset as it has taken weeks to get my phone how I want it, I,e many games, many apps and many settings etc. I have tried everything I can think of. I'm not sure if it's my device or an OS update or what. For whatever reason, apps just don't seem to be able to stay running in the background on my OP5. Doesn't matter what kind of app it is, but whenever I to switch to it using the recent's list or pressing the icon, they almost always seem to start up as if they haven't been opened yet. It seems to be getting worse as time goes by. I'm running the lastest OS version and have also factory reset my phone as well as removed a bunch of unused apps and photos.
The thing is my first device didn't have this problem. But I had a hardware issue and my phone was replaced. But about the same time I got my replacement phone, I also had a major OS upgrade occur. So I'm not sure if my replacement device has some sort of defect, or it's just a normal thing that happens now.
Also, on top of apps always starting up from scratch every single time no matter how long it's been since I just used them; now I'm finding apps disappearing from my recently used list! WTF is going on???
I have all optimizations disabled as much as I can, I've deleted a ton of apps and photos to make sure I'm not running out of memory. Yet this phone is still acting very weirdly.
I've searched and used some "memory testers" that I've found in the Play store and they say everything is fine. But I'm not confident they are actually testing the memory or system properly.
Help please!!

But I have been having these issues for the better part of a year, well before I got the Pie update. Granted, Pie has made it much worse, but it's been going on for a very long time now. And it seems to be getting much worse as time goes by.

There is no solution for this. Maybe you can try a custom kernel. Apps killed in background is a normal thing for OnePlus.

You can see this article
This is beyond acceptable now. Apps are being closed while I have them open and are using them! It's different apps, different types of apps, random times, nothing to connect them. Is there anything at all that I can do?
