Updating after applying adoptable storage fix for UK s7 edge. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi, does anyone know if installing official system updates will remove the adoptable storage work around. I've heard that Samsung have removed the work around in an update. I really don't want to update and lose the adoptable storage as I have spent weeks installing all my stuff and moving over etc, but would like to keep the phone upto date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all.

It shouldn't but who knows?

Yeah can't find a definitive answer anywhere unfortunately.

Not sure if I should post this one here or not but it is about adoptable storage, I can start a new thread if needed. I've been having problems of after uninstalling some games and apps, the apps are gone but I never gain the storage back that the games take up. I've searched for residual files and folders that may have been left after uninstalling but can't find any. It doesn't always happen and seems to be totally random. It's really starting to annoy the hell out of me now and must have lost 10-15gb of precious storage space. Again I really don't want to have to do a factory reset as it has taken weeks to get my phone how I want it, I,e many games, many apps and many settings etc. I have tried everything I can think of. Surely I can't be the only one that is experiencing this but I can't find anything relating to it on the net.
Thanks again in advance.

[Q] phone storage problem

hey, i have an unrooted mt4g about a week ago i had to do a hard reset on it to fix a market problem but i was able to recover most of my apps and was going from there with little problem until a few days the "low internal storage" message started showing in my notifications. since seeing it, i have looked through my apps and realize there is no possible way they can take up that much space by themselves (though i deleted some i didnt use oping to abate the problem). right now, im trying to go phone storage to see if anything unnecessary is lurking there but im having trouble deciphering the files
im sure its not becaause of apps because before the initial reset, i had even more apps than currently without this problem. its like it materialized out of nowhere
i still have the low storage problem and im wonderiung of its due to something like an error stacking log or temp files. or maybe an app i installed did something to the phone memory. is there anyway to fix this and be certain of the problem or will another reset be necessary

[Q] AT&T Update burned 8 GB of RAM

Hi Folks,
I've had the strangest thing happen to my nearly new Galaxy S4, and I'm hoping that some of you can tell me what happened and what to do about it.
Recently, I started getting a notification that AT&T wanted to do an update to my phone. I rejected the update for several days, although of course it kept coming back, but it was finally performed one night when I accidentally left my WiFi turned on overnight. I got up the next morning and found a notification that the update had been performed (note that I had never explicitly authorized it). I did notice that several new applications had been loaded on my phone... nothing major from what I can see, but the icons had shifted around a little bit in the application section of the interface... but the really big problem is that 8 GB of system RAM have now disappeared. I'm not talking about memory on the SD card, which I also have in the phone. The system now reports that 8 GB of system RAM have been expended since the AT&T update. I went from around 2.5 GB of expended memory to around 10.5 GB of expended memory in one night.
I had purchased the 32 MB version of the phone, and so I'm not hurting for memory at the moment. But I'm extremely concerned about the sudden (literally overnight) loss of 8 GB of system RAM. Could this happen again with the next update? Is there any way to get that memory back?
I went to the AT&T store where I had purchased the phone, and even their maximum tech guy had never heard of this happening. He had no solutions. So I called AT&T Tech Support and was told, at least by Tier 1 support, that I need to do a hard master reset on my phone. I find this an inadequate solution for several reasons, not the least of which is that it offers no explanation for what happened or if it could happen again. Am I going to have to master reset my phone every time AT&T decides, without my authorization, to update it? Are updates even retained between such resets?
Is there anyone here who can offer any comments on this situation? Is there anyone who has experienced anything like this with their Android phone? Is there any way to get that 8GB of RAM back? I sure would appreciate any intelligent comments on this matter...
Thanks, and best to all....
Chas
Oh let me get this straight because you confused a lot of things apparently ... you have a 32gb version of the phone and the update filled an additional 8gb of storage ... btw internal storage is not ram they are different things so you know ... i find it odd an update whatever bloatware may it had included took so much of your storage ... so it either must be some sort of bugged indicator of your internal storage or something actually got downloaded that consumed your storage ... so check your files and the applications installed to see if any of those uses that space and if not try a factory reset see if it helps ... also i don't think that any future update would cause this thing again if it is fixed ... and also when you have an update available for your phone it's best not to ignore it but actually do it

Well, I see that you are right about the terminology, and I apologize for the confusion. "RAM" refers to the random access workspace of the device, which on my phone is listed as 1.78 GB. What I meant to refer to is what is called "System Storage." I get to it by (a) long press on the central button, (b) choose the lower left icon, (c) choose the "Storage" tab in the resulting screen. "System Storage" under that tab is now listed as 10.43 GB/ 32.0 GB, whereas, before the update, it was 2.4 GB / 32.0 GB. This means that ~8 GB of usable system storage disappeared with the update. That's 8 GB that I can no longer use to store applications, files, etc.. Since the utility that gave me this information came with the phone (and was explicitly designed to give us information on things like active applications, RAM, and storage), it seems unlikely that it is faulty.
I find this whole situation odd as well, which is why I'm looking for a solution. I would love to find someone who has the technical expertise to help me diagnose this problem and find out what happened. I don't have that level of expertise, and apparently AT&T is not going to be much help. 8 GB is huge! It is much more storage than the entire operating system requires! I don't think that was lost by the addition of simple applications; something else happened, something significant.
I do agree that it is best to do the updates when they come in, but obviously, if this happens too many times, even a 32 GB phone would soon be depleted of system storage. It remains a problem awaiting a solution...
Thanks for your comments... Best,,,,
Are you sure that before it said 2.4GB/32GB because that's odd as well ... i have the 16gb version and i have 8.9gb available space which means i have 7.1GB/16GB out of the box and that's perfectly normal also i have an international version which mean no carrier bloatware ... so having the rom with the added bloatware from AT&T taking only 2.4GB of your internal storage is really odd ... 10.43GB/ 32.0GB seems a lot more reasonable assuming u stored some files too ...

Storage Space Issues

Hi I have been having issues with running out of storage space on my new S5 and was wondering if anyone here knew of any good apps to help me out that wouldn't involve me loosing my precious media files as I dont have a pc at the moment and have nothing else to store these files on, I know you can compress files on a pc and was wondering if there is any good apps out there for this ? another way Ive thought of would be to get a app like ccleaner but for my phone and again does anyone know of any good apps for this ? If anyone else has any ideas or knows of any other ways I would be able to save storage space, also doesn't matter if the apps are paid or not but I won't be rooting my phone for awhile yet.
Any help/advice etc is greatly appreciated and my phone is only a 16GB with a 32GB sd card (Yes Ive realised this isn't enough but can't afford a bigger sd card yet)
BTW I dont know a whole hell of alot about this phone yet
Try Clean Master.
The stock storage manager in the stock settings works pretty well foe the internal sd card, breaks down everything by whats taking what, even lets you clear the cache.

You should try clearing cache. I had a similar storage problem on my S3 Mini and when I cleared cache, boom, everything was back to normal

Apps on SD card moving back to device after update from playstore

Hello Experts,
Sorry if this question is repeated but, i tried searching existing threads and could not find so, i am posting this question.
I moved some apps to my sd card. Every time i update these apps, they're moved back to the device's storage and I have to push them back again to the SD card.
I see this is happening after 5.0.1 upgrade.
Is there any way to fix this? Its very hard to move the apps to SD card after every update.
Thanks a lot in Advance.
Note: Sorry, i just realized that i submitted in wrong thread, can this be moved to Q&A?
Regards,
This is not a bug with Android 5... its a "feature" to frustrate you into buying a phone with higher internal memory. Google really wants to eliminate SDCards from Android phones altogether so manufacturers can sell you more expensive phones just like Apple does. I have not found a way to combat this frustrating issue myself, and am forced to move to SDCard after every single app update. Not sure if they have found a way around this on rooted systems though, but I cannot root my phone without getting kicked off my companies network
Windows Phone is looking better and better on stuff like this... they just don't have the app support. Doubtless they ever will.

Please please gelp with missing storage.

Can anyone pkease help. I've been having problems after uninstalling some games and apps, the apps are gone and removed but I never gain the storage back that the games take up. I've searched for residual files and folders that may have been left after uninstalling but can't find any. It doesn't always happen and seems to be totally random. It's really starting to annoy the hell out of me now and must have lost 15-20gb of precious storage space. I really don't want to have to do a factory reset as it has taken weeks to get my phone how I want it, I,e many games, many apps and many settings etc. I have tried everything I can think of. Surely I can't be the only one that is experiencing this but I can't find anything relating to it on the net.
Thanks again in advance.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with 6.0.1 android and a uk version.
