Want to learn ROM development - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello world, full of Developers!
I'm a student and I use Grand2 & OnePlus2 phones.
I have very deep interest mobile phones/computers but I never get a chance to learn things about it.
I love tweaking/customizing phone/pc. But i never understands how it works inside.
I have very deep interest of learning these things. I am not interested in making because I want it so that I can help other people/friends and many developers who put their efforts hard and rock to give us best features.
I tried everywhere but found no help except like go read this/that etc etc.
All the time people just reacted "visit this, read this, watch this", but nobody supports me in full.
See, reading a book about it or watching a video won't help to learn the core things. It is necessary to read but practical knowledge/assistant is way more important, otherwise we don't have to go to sit in class and listen to lectures.
I watched/read many tutorial but I have now more confusions/questions than the answer itself, like 1000000:1 in ratio.
I know its hard to help the kind of help I am asking today. But helping someone is not that hard if you 'will' is very hard, because I have also helped unknown people with my full potential being knowing that it will take a lot and strong effort out of me. But I helped. and I believe people also help.
So, I am writing these stuffs here because I need a Friend, a teacher, a helper, a guide, someone who can help me understand these things so that I can one day give a strong/big feedback to my fellow friends/users/members/people around me.
I am Just a student. I don't wanna make money out of it, because its my passion, not my livelihood.
Because I wanna help people who love techs. I wanna be someone who can fulfills other members needs.
I just wanna help, but before that I NEED HELP.
I know this also that after writing this long, I may not find a single help, but nothing can stop me by doing this because what I see is a light of hope in darkness. So, I am on my way.
I am hereby, requesting out of curiosity and courtesy to help me by every means to learn these things.
Some friends may make a fun of me by reading this long shot but I feel sorry for them and really I am in desperate need.
So, If anyone is interested in supporting me happily, please let me know.
I use TELEGRAM app for quick-chat. So we can talk there.
Help me friends and let me help back!
Thanks.

Oh i see. We are kinda on the same page. I have a Grand 2 too and i am also slowly learning about rom developement.
Okay so i'll tell you basic thing about roms first. There are 2 ways to have a custom rom for your device. Source building and porting.
Source building is as the title says making a rom from source.
And port is like using the rom made for a similar cpu family device and editing it to run on yours.
Now both of them go a long way to learn. I can understand your situation as i am in the same myself. Just PM me i'll tell you everything in detail

Thank You to Everyone

Hey everyone,
I wanted to taket the time and say a quick thank you to everyone that has taken time out of thier schedules to try cook roms, tweak registries, and build cabs to share with the community. Being a college student I can tell you that there are numerous times that I wanted to throw my device out of the window due to issues that I did not understand. I have always been fairly tech savy but I am new to the PPC WM world. I have always been able to visit this site for help, and to find whatever else I needed to unlock the full potential of my device. Even though I cannot donate to everone, I just wanted to let you know that your hours of hardword and frustration are very much appreciated by myself, all of the other members, and the thousands of un-named that visit the site on a day to day visit. Just remember this when you feel that you are not getting the recognization that you deserve. There are thousands of people out there that you help on a day to day basis. Keep up the good work and always remember that you are appreciated.
P.S. I was not sure wher eto post this but feel free to move it to whatever forum you feel would best suite it's needs.
I wish to do the same, just can't find enough word to show my appreciation. That is why I'm going to say one simple and huge: THANK YOU!
I too would like to thank all of the developers here. I can tell you I was about to buy a new phone when I happened across this site and brought my Blue angel into 2008 with all the wonderful ROMs and software found here. Thank you all no matter how big or small your contribution has been it has been appreciated. As I am not a coder all I can offer is support, which I try to do as regularly as possible here. To everyone keep up the great work.
I too would have to add to this. If it wasn't for this site and its hard working developers I wouldn't realize the full potential of my cell-y.
The only way I can contribute to this site is by donating to these talented and hard working developers so that they may continue to create some of the most usable/innovative programs only to ask for donations in return.
Much Appreciated to all....
Huge THANK YOU to all the cookers and developers indeed!
Without this site and all the people here my life would be shallow and meaningless misery...Well, not exactly, but thank you anyway!
Thank you!

Catching up with the times

I need a little help from the regulars here on the forums to help catch me up, and maybe those that are in the dark about developement politics and what's been happening on the forums could benefit from this as well.
I've had trouble staying current since I'm in the middle of a big project making some really nice video guides for everyone, and want to make sure that the 100 or so hours I've already put into it haven't become too obsolete because of my time spent with the project. (hence the reason for this post)
What I've heard is that developers like those with Team Whiskey and Eugene have migrated on to their own sites and away from these forums from what I know. I just read the Axura rom is also having issues as well. These are the kind of relevant things I need to know.
So, with that being said. If you plan to respond, please keep it unbiased and fill me in on just the facts please. Whys and hows would be nice to know and it doesn't need to be limited to just developement. I want to make these guides as amazing as possible with the help of everyone.

[Q] Anyone willing to teach???

I am wanting to learn to make roms and do some theming i have had a few android devices well 4 so far and have always done the rooting and custom roms and kernels and have always wanted to learn to make them for myself for me to use with everything exactly the way i want them. if anyone would have the time to help a little please let me know payment can be worked out. If anything i ask or said is not allowed then im sorry never really ask much on forums before.
I saw a little guide to setting up a dev environment over in the Mez forum posted by Phidelt82. Here is the link. Hope it helps.
Cheers
Get some help on irc. Those guys are willing to help if they have free time.

^ That is probably the best idea as it gives live support/feedback. I'd say that it's best to do at least a little research and have an idea of what you want to do beforehand though. If you just say "teach me how to do xyz" your response won't be as good as "I am trying to do xyz and this is where I'm having a problem". The more you help yourself beforehand, the more help you will likely receive.
Yea, the IRC is an amazing place to ask questions. I've taken the step to building kernels now myself and have been asking plenty of questions. I now have 2 UV kernels out myself. Same goes for themes and roms. Someone will help, just be patient though, cause, usually everyone is busy during the day.

2D Game Development Tutorial (Need Opinions)

I am planning to write an Android tutorial on developing the basics for a 2D game. As part of this project, I would like to ask the development community for their input. I want to know what issues are important, what struggles you have previously faced, or what problems you have seen in the past with other tutorials. I hope to make mine simple and straight forward, and I want it to address important issues that many have had with other tutorials.
So I ask you, please give me your opinions. Tell me what to avoid, tell me what to focus on, tell me anything. I want to make it easy for anyone to understand, even those who have never developed for Android before, so all opinions are welcome.
Thanks!
one problem i had with tutorials is it gets quite confusing when using eclipse and stuff. I dont have any codeing knowlege, so that didnt help. Another thing is that the tutorials are always really long
hope that helped...

It would be great if you write a Game Development tutorial for Android. Because I don't even know how to start.
Things you might take into consideration:
- Give examples based on an IDE (Showing screenshots of code and the IDE)
- Maybe use an existing 2D Game framework? (So it's easier to start, AndEngine?)
I always find that a lot of tutorials just write a bunch of code. you can copy it and it magically works.
You don't get to know why it works or how you can let it work in another scenario.
I personally like screenshots of the IDE or a part of the code to get a glimp of how I'm doing compared to the writer.
And just a tutorial which is from start to finish, with this I mean start at the Main Menu and end at the score screen.
Hope this might help you in your tutorial, It's just my 2 cents of thing I would like to see in a tutorial maybe other share this idea.
Any idea when you will start/finish this project?
Goodluck!

To all devs!

First let me say this thanks. Besides that let me say this, you should be geting paid for what you do. Not by the manufacturers, but by people like me who benefit from your effort. I understand that a great percentage if not all devs do this work out of the love for game. That's not lost on me, but it seems to me that the more devs you have working on something, the quicker things are released. Here's my proposition: Devs share the knowledge of how to get things done with those who are interested. And I don't mean linking to the android sdk page. We're dumb as **** when it comes to that. If someone would develop a tutorial that was inclusive of the required knowledge, along with shortcuts, cheats and the like, we could have something. There are so many newbs who want to know how to help but just cant. That knowledge is worth money and I'd pay by the hour to learn it from someone with knowledge rather than googling dozens of sights. Give us leadership and we'll give you money, set it up donation style so that those who are serious can participate. Personally, I'd pay 11$/hr for this training up front and I'd bet others would too. You'd also eliminate a lot of needless posts, replacing them with answers. I'll broker the deal for nothing but lets get something going. Maybe just start with the abc's of coding and go from there. Anyway, just a rom lovers's hope to a better community. You could even start a thread like "How I learned to dev" with tutorials and such. You guys know better than I how to start this up. Anyway, post your thoughts on the viability of such a project or whether I 'm pissin' in the wind.
This sounds lika an excellent idea!
Both thumbs up!
I would love that!
I may not know a lot but i would be very happy to give a full tutorial on theming, tweaks and some editing of layouts.
again not for the money, the more people we have the better the community we will have!!!
let me know if you are interested in what i know,
Great idea!
+1. I totally support this idea. I always want to do something for the community
Op just let me know how you would like to set up these sessions and you can pick my brain

I did a tutorial on theming a while back that seemed to help a lot of people get their feet wet. Itll help you understand how apk manager works and what not.
