Wont boot up after ODIN T-Flash - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

So I need help. I tried un rooting my s7 edge by flashing the stock files in ODIN, I selected T-Flash in ODIN options because that's what I remembered selecting in the past. Little did I know I forgot to select Re-Partition too. Now my phone shows a black screen, I cant boot into recovery or download mode, but it would seem like the phone isn't shutting off because when I connect it to my PC its immediately recognized and no matter how many button combinations I try it just is disconnected from the PC for about half a second and then re connects. I don't get any response from the phone though. The screen is pitch black and i cant get it to do anything. After flashing I noticed it wasn't booting up at all it was in download mode and when it finished the screen turned black and never came back on. When connected to my PC it is recognized as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM5) in my device manager ODIN Does not recognize it and neither does any other application. Can I please get some help here?

Try pressing and holding the power button until the device shuts off. It could take up to a minute of holding the button down continuously.

Yeah that does nothing. I'm still stuck on the black screen and nothing is happening. I'm about to just sit in a corner and cry. No matter what I try nothing comes on no LED no display no vibrations, all I get is the connection sound on my computer when I connect it that is it it does nothing else.

I really hate giving links to outside sources when I don't know anything about it but this seems to be your only hope unless you can bring it to a store and have them swap it out with a new one.

I read through it some, looks complicated. You don't have to follow the guide. The easiest thing you could do is bring it to where you purchased it and then get it swapped for a new one.

Well like I said before, I don't like giving out directions like I did if I don't recognize the steps to complete it or if others have not supported the validity of it. I don't want to stray you in the wrong direction. The only thing I think you should do, my opinion of course, is attempt to return it under or try to get it repaired under warranty as you don't need insurance as long as you didn't trip Knox, which I don't believe you did.

Okay so i called Samsung and they let me send it in for repair, I'm shipping it out tomorrow. All they asked for was a email my address name and they gave me this code or whatever. I thought I would need like a receipt or something but I guess not. I bought the phone used from Swappa so I thought i'd be screwed. I just hope Knox inst messed up which it shouldn't be because it never was and it failed when I was trying to flash stock firmware. Oh and its free of charge since it hasn't been a year of the phones release yet.

Glad you could get it sorted out. Sucks that it will take a little longer but it's better than attempting to follow complicated tutorials that may not even work and may make the problem worse. Hope they send you a new one, just be careful next time you flash anything. Read the instructions, make sure you understand them and ask about what you don't, then read through again to double check and you shouldn't have any problems.

The only thing I'm worried about is if they call me saying they won't repair it because I have no proof of purchase since I bought it used. I'm so anxious to get my phone back really hoping everything is smooth. It's apparently covered by the 1yr warranty every phone comes with but why would they not ask for a receipt but whatever I just want everything to go smooth.

The Samsung S7's came out in March of this year, so regardless of when you have bought it at this time it's obviously still within the warranty period.

Once the phone has been out over a year where it's not a guarantee that you must have purchased it within the last 12 months then yes, they most likely would ask for a receipt. You're just lucky like that. Lol

Oh wow so its basically just lucky timing, nice. I'm never rooting the phone again all i wanted were better emojis and the note 7 UX and I couldn't even get the Note 7 UX so its not worth it. It's an amazing phone on it's own. I won't ever try and root another Verizon phone there's always little support cause of the bootloader and I always run into something. Glad I dont have to worry much just takes time.

How do you replace Hardware Locked Vibrants?

I recently found out that my phone is hardware locked. I hear that people are getting theirs replaced because it's a defect. I tried to explain this where I got my phone about a month ago. No dice. They called up T-Mobile and I could not get a new phone. How did everyone get a replacement? Also, did you get brand new ones or refurbs? Thanks.
Just call tmobile directly. Don't tell them you bought it from someone else. Pretend as if you night it from them. I have gotten mine replaced even though I bought it from else where. The key us to sound like you know what you're talking about and to be persistent. You may get a no can do answer but call again and you'll eventually get a rep that erl return it right away cause they don't know what else to do. Btw always say you have already done a factory reset before they try to get you to do it.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
So I say that I already did a factory reset and want a replacement because I can't get into recovery mode?
just call them up and say that you can't do a hard reset and that the phone is defective... go to the tmobile store, they are a dealership and are privately owned, not by tmobile, so most of the time they'll just laugh in your face... CALL them
I wouldn't mention recovery mode. Id mention something like gps not working and you need a phone with gps for your job and that you paid for a phone and it said it had gps when it doesn't work. But still mention that you have done numerous factory resets with no success. They'll send you another. I'm getting my third one and after 3 replacements you get a upgrade to something else or you can continue with your phone.

GPS isn't a "hardware" problem, its firmware related. Don't think that would work at all. They'll probably just redirect you to a new firmware update.

Nah itll work cause I've gotten 2 replacements but saying that. Trust me I'd you get the right repo that doesn't know they will just replace it. Plus after saying you have done a factory reset they have no more troubleshooting steps on their script. Lol! Plus whether its hardware or software related the phone should work as advertised and if it doesn't then that's their fault

told you that's all you had to do i did the same... the newer replacement phones that they are now sending out aren't hardware locked anymore, they finally fixed the problem in QC
That is weird. How come the recovery mode thing didn't work the first time? I think they might ask me why I would want to get into recovery mode. What do I say?
What about people who don't have contracts with them? Will they do it if I don't have a contract? That's highly doubtful.

Yesterday, I fudged an install of a mod and got a bunch of TwLanuncher errors. My phone is hardware locked and after about an hour, Tmo decided to give me a new one. I simply told them and its true that I cant hard reset the phone. Only problem is that I cant flash back to stock either. Hope this isnt a problem...

I don't think T-Mobile will bother to check the contents of your phone. They'll just send it back to Samsung. And if Samsung discovers that your phone has custom firmware, they probably won't care either because the transaction was done already.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here. Simply tell them that you cant hard reset the phone.
I think you guys are over estimating the technical-prowess of the T-Mob reps. They wouldn't know about 'recovery' modes, custom firmwares, or anything. Most of the time, they're gonna take what you say at face value; just go for the easy in. Just say your phone is hardware locked, unable to do factory resets, etc. and play dumb. You don't need to tell them about recoveries or custom roms. Pretend you're a technologically-impotent average consumer fer chrissakes.
Shipping is free unless you want express. But on your second replacement they ship it express for free

[Q] screen f**ed, among other things

When I boot the phone, whats supposed to be black is dark red and while its booting it shows white lines in various parts of the screen. Then it boots and it looks like crap and most every time, then shortly after I cant see anything because half the screen is polluted with the colored lines going on the screen. mostly white and blue.
Basically the phone is unusable. some other things are that the screen wont turn on when its plugged in to charge and the capacitive buttons don't work.
ANY help is appreciated. except for dumb ideas like the sprint chat "i reset service for your phone" so yeah.. thank you.

edit2: sometimes theres no boot animation

Ditto.
Odin it back to stock and warranty it to Samsung. Hardware is obviously defective. At the very least you can make sure it's not some obscure software glitch.
If you can't wait that long without a phone, Sprint will replace it for $35 if you don't have insurance.

You could still possibly try the $35 Sprint option. Sometimes they don't know any better..... it's up to them to decide to reject it.
so how do i do the $35 option, just go in there and say "uhh can i get a replacement for $35" and show them the issues?
also the thing is, im broke.

Ask them to repair it.

Otherwise try your hardest to Odin it so you can warranty it. Possibly use the Samsung EB13 upgrade tool (which is essentially Odin).
Make sure you have drivers installed properly?

Did it happen after you went to EB13 FroYo?
Perhaps mention so, if it's true. They may have an exception for FroYo-bricked phones.
However, don't say anything that's not true foremost. Generally the less information, the better when it comes to these matters..... just tell them the hardware is defective, show them what's wrong (flickering) and ask them to fix it and leave it at that.

101 Seemingly dead! :(

mine has done this a couple of times now since i bought it new in december. it always seems to be when it gets a bit "too" empty it doesn't like turning on anymore even though I have it charging etc. always i've been able to recover from it by doing some mixture of charging/powering on etc.
last night i came to my 101 and it seemed to have suffered the same fate.... so did the usual tricks but it isnt waking. the light is coming on and turns off after holding it down for 7 secs but i see nothing on the screen. last time i checked it a couple of days ago it had about 60% battery left. Is there any way of determining if it is truly dead or if the screen is dead (plugged into usb but not getting any of the usual beep bop noises, but i think from memory you had to select to use it as storage device within android which i obviously cant do)
So now i'm crapping myself since I am totally at a loss as to what i can do. its never been opened etc but I installed the dev rom. I cant honestly think that Archos could possibly put ANY hardware issue down to the fact you had a dev rom installed (bought from currys, uk if it makes any difference... no doubt they have no stock to replace so most likely will say that they will have to return to archos)
Any advice much appreciated
thanks
To reset the Tablet you have to press way longer then 7 Seconds.
It states 10 but sometimes it needs 20.
After that you have to wait 10 seconds and then shortpress the powerbutton.
7/10/20 secs all do the same and the light turns off after about 7 seconds. no matter how long i leave it whether its plugged in or not nothing happens other than the light coming back on
currys have just told me that they have to inform users to deal directly with archos
just called them and they've given me an RMA number. still scared about the whole warranty/dev rom thing though (didnt have the nerve to mention it)

Well, they are pretty clear that if you install SDE or any other type of root solution you void the warranty. So you might expect a charge for the service.
what is with the good old "let the tablet warm up (20-25 degrees celsius), connect it with usb to the pc and at last connect the charger to the tablet"-trick?
or was it first charger then usb? i can't remember but i had this with my A70, too...

no joy from that too
on a more positive note, i can actually get the device seen over usb (think pc must have been playing up earlier too.. not my day today!)
detects it as a 101it and mounts both drives although windows is saying that neither are formatted (odd). cannot see anything on the display so doesnt seem to be the backlight thats died. looks like the whole screen has.
has anyone else here had any prior experience with SDE archos devices and warranty? I mean, really.. they'd be pushing it to expect people to believe that a display would die because of someone installing some unsupported software?!

guess noone here has had a faulty SDE/rooted unit that they needed to return to archos then. odd

People throw the "voids your warranty" thing around way toooo much. Let me be clear, modding your device CANNOT void a entire warranty. If I send my full rooted EVO in because of a faulty LCD, they HAVE to fix it or I can sue them. Theres something called the magnuson moss warranty act, which in a nut shell states that, what you did has to have caused the problem. Did rooting your device break it? Mostly likely not because it doesn't mess w/ the boot loader. If they give you crap about rooting or modding ask them if your mod directly contributed to the unit failing. If they say no but still give you crap throw the magnuson moss warranty act at them.
I see this all the time w/ cars, I used to be big on 8thcivic.com when I had my 07 Civic Si. People would bring their cars in w/ say, a modded computer or exhaust w/ a unrelated problem like transmission or something. If they gave them crap, the second they mentioned the magnuson moss act they shut up and fixed the problem. For the manufacturer its a lot cheaper to deny you then fix you. Archos seems like a friendly company, I'd feel confident sending in my rooted device w/ a bad screen.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act sounds all well and good but its an american "act" and most likely not relevant to Archos being a french company (and me being in the UK).
it may be the reason that I have heard people in the states being offered repairs (at a cost... $200 for a screen or something i think i read)

a) dont think its the same problem as my 101 is DEAD.
2) it must be a coincidence for you then since I dont see how the battery/charging system of a device could be changed in a firmware update (had the bizarre issue with most flavours of firmware. by the time it is dead and needs resussitating it is out of the remit of firmware.
Mine is also dead, i suspect a power issue as the green LED will stay on while plugged in but will never blink to indicate complete charge and it won't turn on.... needless to say I am waiting to hear back from Archos (4 weeks now) and also waiting for the Asus Transformer to come out.

I needed to call them, so I just did a flash in front of the dentist's office with the ROM I had on my SD card.
re-flashed v1.2 with no problem and I was about to select "reboot my phone", then I was like, oh i'll re-flash Swype as well... the swype zip got stuck for like 5 minutes during the flash (and I still needed to call the dentist). So I was like, ok I'll just pull off the battery and restart the flashing procedures...
That's when I put the battery back and the phone won't even boot up now. I'm now home (didn't even get to call my dentist yet after all that), and plugged in the charger and it won't even charge now (orange LED not turning on)... Can't even boot it in recovery. Phone is unresponsive to any buttons...
Does anyone know of any other way to even turn the phone on?
Geez, that was the Noobiest mistake ever!! All that because I had to make a call... WOw, I'm speechless thinking of my stupidity! I hope someone can help...
Thanks in advance guys!
Quite honestly dude i dont think you have much to hope for except to call tmo and tell them its broken. If its truly bricked even they cant confirm it since they cant turn it on. Only thing i think you could try is pluging it into your pc and trying to see if the pc recognizes it and lets you run adb commands or something similar. Hope this helps.

I doubt you'll have problems. Everyone I've ever heard of sending in the truly bricked phone has gotten it replaced for free but that's my experience. Most don't have a second thought about it because they know there's nothing t mo can do.

yup, the thing is that I'm not a T-Mobile customer anymore. I wonder how I'm even gonna get in contact with them to get a replacement. I remember from being their customer, that the first thing they ask you is your phone number with them. If you didn't have one, they just said they can't help you... Does that sound about right?

Send it back to HTC. It sounds like you got hardware issues not software. I don't think you even bricked your device.

yeah man, that was the analysis of the customer service rep that was helping me. He thinks that the battery somehow is knocked out... That's why he's shipped out a battery. Just waiting for that to confirm that it's the battery or something else! If that doesn't solve it, I'll have to send it back to HTC for repairs. Probably won't be able to get a replacement with T-Mobile since I cancelled my account with them like 4 months ago already... but thanks for the input!
keep us posted eh.

EZ-Unlock Hardbrick [GALAXY S4 | SCH-I545]

I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 rooted, and I heard about this app maybe an hour ago. So I tried it, and it was supposed to be only for S3 I guess. Keep in mind that this attempts to unlock the bootloader on S3 locked bootloaders. It said successful for my phone, so I turned it off. And no sign of life AT ALL. Can't boot into download mode or recovery mode. I really need help guys :crying:

Hooo...oh boy...okay see what you did here, is the one thing you don't do. You know how people say "if theres one thing not to do..."? Well you did it. Not trying to be mean, please don't misunderstand. Just trying to convey the gravity of the mistake.
In all likelihood, it's a paperweight now. Might as well gut it for the parts. As far as I know, there is no coming back from that, at least none that would be cost-effective or even mildly user-friendly.
However, when I screwed my GalaxyS3 as such, I was able to bring it back by booting into a rom on my external sd, but I don't believe the S4's have that functionality. Your best bet, search far and wide for "S4 hardbrick"...but don't hold your breath. We live and we learn.

I guess that's a dead boot. I don't think you can fix this yourself.
You can Google "S4 dead boot" and I think you might find some stuff about it.

Yeah I saw this video, but the guy only had S3 and S5 debrick images. I'm looking for one right now. And yes I have searched that already. Thank you!

So the device is completely unresponsive from the powered-down state? Try pluggin' it in as-is to a Windows Desktop (or laptop) and see what bubbles popup. If nothing happens...yeah, my sympathies. But if the PC at least notices it, that would mean you're probably in QDL mode, and there may yet be hope. (QDL = Qualcomm Download)

Yeah I guess it's done... I was on 5.0.1 so I have the OF1 version, but the only debrick image for my model number is for the NK1 version. And yes it is completely unresponive. My PC doesn't recognize it at all. Thanks for helping guys. This sucks though

Is the LCD assembly intact? PM me a figure and I may buy it off you lol. My SCH-I545 SGS4 took a tumble and obliterated the screen...this would be my second LCD replacement on it...debating on whether to just let it die or not.

Well I'll have to find a screwdriver lol but I mean I have never dropped it, because I literally just got this not too long ago maybe like less than a week ago since I broke my iPhone.

Also I don't know if this means anything, but I have this charging station with USB ports, and a LED showing if it is charging or not, and it lights up when my S4 is plugged in. Does it mean anything?
Would a USB Jig perhaps bump it into download mode? Or is that all part of the bootloader? If the bootloader is dead I think the whole lot is scrap.

Any sign of life from the screen upon doing so? Perhaps, but don't hold your breath or anything. Remember, hope for best but prepare for worst. I'm currently investigating, so stay tuned.

Ya know, I was thinking the same. As said above, currently investigating so I can help suggest where to go from here.

No, there is nothing on the screen no matter what, and yeah I thought of a jig cable, but I've tried to go into download mode before, and there was nothing. And the buttons do work.
