Hi,
Lately I've been having issues with certain apps not having a internet connection while others work perfectly. For example some time snapchat doesn't load messages and same for whatsapp.. After a quick restart they work again (but stop again after a certain amount of time).
Did anyone have the same bug? Is it provider related? do I need a new sim? Do i need a factory reset?
I tried to delete all the app data but that didnt work..
Thnx in advance
I get this sort of behaviour on APC8. Will be using YouTube or some other app, lock the phone, come back to it a while later and internet doesn't work with said app after. But other apps work fine. Have to close the app right down and reload it for it to work again. Doesn't always happen, but when it does it's annoying. Find it happens more on WiFi than 4g. Also not all the time. No root here.

I don't have an unlimited data plan so I normally turn my 3G on and off manually when I need to. But today my 3G icon keeps coming up on the tab even when i have the settings as off. I checked my data usage from my carrier and it is indeed eating up data. I've tried restarting the phone but it's still the same.
Any idea of why this is happening and how to resolve this?
Thanks in Advance

try APNdroid, you can find it in the Market.

If you have your data disabled then it shouldn't be coming on. Check your permissions to see if you have an app on your phone that has permission to mess with your network settings.

APNDroid would work for your situation very well, however, I've had problems sending MMS's when I've had APNDroid installed (even with "enable MMS" checked).
Another option that would probably work very well is DroidWall (on the market-free). It's a firewall for your mobile data and WiFi, customizable for each allowing individual programs through. A widget on your homescreen turns it on or off. You could have it set so programs can always use WiFi, yet mobile data is blocked unless you turn the widget to "off". That wy no programs can actually transmit anything even if they have permissions set in the program. DroidWall has final say of what leaves.
I downloaded 3GWatchdog free, and was so impressed I purchased the Pro version for ~$2.50. The Pro version allows you to see specifically what program has used mobile data, and how much. That, along with DroidWall, will allow me to completely customize and control my mobile data while still retaining as much functionality as possible.
Ok Well I downloaded both APNDroid and Watchdog and now I can't even turn on 3G. I just uninstalled both of them and turn my phone off and on still no 3G.
Thanks anyway guys. I getting really close to giving up on Android and moving to the iphone. Every other day there's a new problem with this mobile OS and I always have to download an app rectify something that shouldn't be happening in the first place. It's getting ridiculous.

Did you turn your mobile data back on before uninstalling APNdroid? If not, you might want to look into that
No offense, but I dont think its Android that is the problem. Have you taken the time to fully understand the phone? I havent had a hitch since I got this phone. Once you reinstall APNdroid, enable your data, and then remove the app. If you would like to manually turn off your mobile data then do this menu>settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks>uncheck data enabled
If you dont want to go through the hassle of that, download an app to do it for you. Quick settings can do it. Open quick settings>menu>preference>statusbar shortcut *To access quick settings from status bar* Then hit back>menu>customize>move up mobile data(APN) from hidden settings. Then all you have to do is click on or off for mobile data.
You can also download various widgets that can do this for you without having to go into quick settings. APNdroid being one of them. I use Widgetsoid.
Hi
I updated my phone to the latest update on Saturday and ever since I can't turn mobile internet off. I can actually turn it off, but it ignores me.
So, for example if my mobile internet connection setting is set to off and if I open a message that has an attachment to download, and I press download by accident, the download sets in motion the actual download and restarts the mobile internet connection - ie it overrides the setting I have set.
I can see enormous problems with this if you're abroad when this happens. Or when Google maps has an update and it tries to update automatically (I haven't figured out a way to stop it doing this - can anyone help with this??) and I'm used to quickly going to settings and truning mobile internet off so it stops it from downloading without a wifi connection. This I now won't be able to do. Real nightmare in terms of data costs if we can't control mobile internet.
Anyone got any way around this - or indeed - has anyone acually spotted that this is happening other than me?? Try it and see..
I have an unbranded phone on O2 and this issue so far only seems to be with attachements on texts (ie pictures) and google but not updating/refreshing weather etc or uploading emails.....
I can't reproduce the problem here. I turned off mobile data and wifi in the Quick Settings menu, and sure enough, I can't download attachments in gmail, and there's no indication that it's connecting to mobile data when I try.
It will download attachments in mms even if you have mobile data turned off. You shouldn't be paying for these anyway if you're receiving them.

Hi - thanks for this. You're right, of course. I think the thing that's different now is that the icon comes up where it possibly didn't before the update and that's why I've picked up on it. I certainly can't remember the "G" coming up anytime before when it's downloaded picture messages. Maybe cos the carriers charge separately to send these nowadays I'm not getting so many and therefore just haven't noticed.
Thanks guys anyway.
Other than my initial panic about the above, this particular update seems so far to be ok. My sd card fried after the Xmas update and I had many other bugs, so I'm waiting with baited breath about this one and hoping for the best.
Couldn't find any similar threads, but I've found a problem which seems to be unique to our phone. If I'm trying to add a new check in location in the Facebook app it doesn't work. It simply says that the search returned no results. Everyone else I know has the option to add a new location. Even my old phone was able to. I checked on my wife's galaxy and we are using the same version of the FB app. Can anyone confirm this on their Nexus? Any solutions? I've attached a screenshot so you know what I mean.
Try resetting the app from the settings menu... Clear the cache data and everything and make sure gps is on that's all i can think of right noe

I did a complete reinstall if the app. GPS shouldn't matter, its very weird.
Bump
Anyone at all can confirm this happens to them??
This does not happen to me at all. And just as a test I was able to search and add a new place. No issues. Maybe reinstall fb.

Thanks for checking. I reinstalled twice already. Are you able to tell me your location settings?
All my settings in Facebook are checked. 1 hour sync interval. Location enabled etc. Have you checked your location settings on android itself to make sure its on.

Yeah, everything is on. Very strange
OK, so here is something weird. I turned on WiFi and it works fine, but on T-Mobile H network it gives me the "no places found". Why would that be??
I never had that issue at all even on hspa aka T-Mobile network or WiFi. I just wonder if your an isolated problem. Or it won't work via mobile to add a new place.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
What's weird is that it works on WiFi. Then when I turn off WiFi it still works. But if I restart my phone it won't work again until I connect to WiFi. Annoying!
I don't know if this is carrier issue, but I decided to ask here first.
My mobile data is working on certain apps only.
For example, facebook will not be able to receive data but reddit will be able to.
Some game apps will connect using data, but most of them can't.
Chrome seems like it works fine, but gmail won't connect using mobile data.
I did root my phone using Odin.
Any help? thanks.
is it 2g or 3g or above? well if 2g it ll take a bit time n you have to refresh it all the time.

Hello everyone, I recently had network concerns with my oneplus 6T.
Randomly, the network was cut for no reason. Amazon sent me a new smartphone but I have exactly the same problem. So I think it's an application that makes these problems. How do you know where it comes from?
Have you ever had this kind of trouble?
Thank you in advance for your answers and sorry for my English I am French
Start with the phone using stock apps, then add a few apps at a time , checking functionality along the way. Narrow down the problem this way.

Thanks for the answer, so I have to make a hard reset? No application allows to analyze this problem?

If you have an app like Titanium you can freeze apps, which I have done in the past when I was rooted. Sorted several problems by freezing groups at once then when I narrowed it down froze one at a time until I found the culprit.
Very few apps would mess with your connectivity like you describe; start with those by force stopping one at a time; see if you can figure it out that way.

I will try to freeze with titanium, I am rooted. I lose wifi or data and to recover, I am forced to restart my phone. Placing in airplane mode and refitting does not solve the problem. Only a reboot corrects this problem. Do you have an idea of which application could do this?
Sorry, no, I've never seen this problem.

is it possible to know if it is a component of the phone that is defective?
Unlikely, since you have two phones showing same problems. Either a software issue as you are pursuing, or dead zones for the networks you interact with are likely the culprits.

have you checked your simcard? also have you checked with your provider of any issues lately in your area?
I do not think it's a software problem, I installed ROM stock, custom, and open beta and the same problem is on my phone. Can an application do this kind of problem?

No problem of sim card because I tried with another phone and no problem. I also changed network operator and even concern. The problem is with wifi and data. I have no wifi problem either because my computer is connected correctly
Edit:
I use private dns (adguard), it's possible that it is adguard who causes me the problem ?

Yes, anything like that could cause the issue. Try uninstalling it and test. Sort of like what the first person told you to do.
Yes, an adguard or alternative DNS or VPN could easily cause the problem. Try without it; seenif it clears up.
