Hey guys. I've had my Aria since it launched and today was the first time I tried using the IM app that comes with the phone. I turned on my wifi and tried logging on. It gives me a message saying a network error has occurred. Then I switch over to 3G and I'm able to log on no problem. Anyone else encounter this problem?

I tried logging on to my old AIM account over WIFI and it kept saying that server error or something. Don't have data so can't test it. But it seems like it won't work over WiFI.
tested on two rooted Aria's and home wiFi, works fine
I also have the same problem...the messaging app does not work when on wifi and it works just fine on 3g.
--edit--
Although I should qualify this...I'm talking about the "IM" app, which is made by HTC. The Google Talk application works correctly for me.
This is correct, "IM" is mobile network only. Google talk should work on either.

Hi,
I am running Android JellyBean 4.2.1. Nexus 32GB WiFi only version (UK).
Even thou the signal bar on tablet is full 4 bars and I got a stable fibre optic broadband connection, my nexus 7 tablet is for some reason randomly showing what i think looks like an explanation mark that grows bigger on the network bars. It's happening allot and although it seems to be connected to the net it seems to stop sending/receiving data/network traffic and I get timeout errors and I unable to connect but then a few refreshes and all work again. Its happening often.
Anyone know of any known problems, bugs etc and possibly a solution ? I found a thread on Google about people having this problem and people thinks its software related.
Thanks for any help/advice!

Did you do the clear Framework data to force the last OTA? If so, you will have to delete your Google account, reboot and sign back in to your google account and sign into Play. It will work again.
Hi,
I did what you said exactly several times and so far no connection errors in play and web browser but webpages and play content takes quite a while several seconds to load webpages and play content from play app sometimes have to refresh for it to work. My connection is fibre optic 38mbps so it should load faster.
Any possible solutions ?
Thank you,
Mat

I think it is the 4.2 update. It is causing all sorts of problems.

Hi,
I think it maybe, did not have this before update I don't think anyway. Using apps that uses my internet connection is becoming a nightmare as hardly loads internet content and have to refresh or close app and open again and try loading internet content again. I thought clearing data on Google Framework and removing Google account fixed it but it hasn't.
Great tablet shame about the OS.
Thanks
Mat

Your connection speed on the N7 is determined by your wifi speed and bandwidth, not your fiberoptic connection. Sounds like you would benefit from a factory/data reset. If rooted and you have Titanium Backup, you could do a full backup before the fdr and restore bookmarks, game data, and sms messages afterward. There are also apps on Play that will backup/restore this kind of data. Just don't restore any system data. Your apps can be restored from Play if they don't automatically restore.
my WiFi speed is 65mbps so plenty fast enough, think a factory reset will be needed. Always into rooted or anything.
Thanks!

Hi,
I did a factory data reset via recovery method, wiped cache before hand then installed my apps again but manually, by this I mean I did not let Google restore anything from backups it makes on it servers.
So far everything appears to be OK fingers crossed.
It seems after updating to 4.2.1 it would be good idea for people to do a factory data reset if they are having problems as this has so far not given me any problems as of yet like previously, I will monitor it over the next few days and post back if it stays like this or goes back to being a nightmare. So far everything feels great and works as expected, all bugs seems to have vanished, for now anyway, only time will tell now.
Thanks for your advice, much appreciated!

Had a strange issue this morning with the stock android data monitor. Verified mu accounts wich is up to date and everything was fine. Maybe someone had the same issue but it said the playstore used about 1.2 gb of background data wich ia not true lol. Phone was also in wifi with data off. Any idea ?

Problem - Certain WIFI connections are not appearing on my phone, for example at work. Phone says that there are "wireless networks available" but nothing new shows up. But WIFI connections at home work. Since I have discovered this problem, I cant make "new" connections" basically. The connection at home works because i connected to it before i discovered this problem or I have deleted something along the way.
Usually I am the type that we go thru and uninstall useless programs / services off of my phone. I typically install custom ROMS that take care of this but I havent do so with the Moto X. I like the active display feature and want to keep it. I even go thru with App Op and disallow certain permissions thru out the system (mostly location services).
Can someone please help me. I feel like I could run a backup and reinstall 4.4 and I feel like it would go away but I was looking for a simpler way of fixing this.
Of course I can provide more details if needed.
Currently my phone is 4.4 Stock with root access.
thanks in advance
If you use WiFi analyzer do the signals show up in the app?

Installed the app. I'm currently at home, so i can't truly test it, but my home network and surrounding networks do show up.
Thanks for the quick response btw.

No worries!
That would seem to say that there's an issue with the settings program on the phone and not actually the hardware. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though...
Edit: have you tried wiping the cache?

i havent wiped the cache yet. can i achieve this within 4.4 or thru a custom recovery. The only time i have in the past, was with SafeStrap or BMM. which i havent installed neither on Moto X
Never seen an option to wipe cache inside the os, that would be something you'd have to do externally. Perhaps someone with a bit more insight can provide a more concrete solution.

Sometime about yesterday, my phone stopped being able to get a location fix through networks and Wi-Fi. GPS appears to work fine, just not network. I'm not even sure it's a device issue, but I don't know where else to start. Anyone experiencing/experienced and fixed this?
