Sometime about yesterday, my phone stopped being able to get a location fix through networks and Wi-Fi. GPS appears to work fine, just not network. I'm not even sure it's a device issue, but I don't know where else to start. Anyone experiencing/experienced and fixed this?

Hey guys. I've had my Aria since it launched and today was the first time I tried using the IM app that comes with the phone. I turned on my wifi and tried logging on. It gives me a message saying a network error has occurred. Then I switch over to 3G and I'm able to log on no problem. Anyone else encounter this problem?

I tried logging on to my old AIM account over WIFI and it kept saying that server error or something. Don't have data so can't test it. But it seems like it won't work over WiFI.
tested on two rooted Aria's and home wiFi, works fine
I also have the same problem...the messaging app does not work when on wifi and it works just fine on 3g.
--edit--
Although I should qualify this...I'm talking about the "IM" app, which is made by HTC. The Google Talk application works correctly for me.
This is correct, "IM" is mobile network only. Google talk should work on either.

Couldn't find any similar threads, but I've found a problem which seems to be unique to our phone. If I'm trying to add a new check in location in the Facebook app it doesn't work. It simply says that the search returned no results. Everyone else I know has the option to add a new location. Even my old phone was able to. I checked on my wife's galaxy and we are using the same version of the FB app. Can anyone confirm this on their Nexus? Any solutions? I've attached a screenshot so you know what I mean.
Try resetting the app from the settings menu... Clear the cache data and everything and make sure gps is on that's all i can think of right noe

I did a complete reinstall if the app. GPS shouldn't matter, its very weird.
Bump
Anyone at all can confirm this happens to them??
This does not happen to me at all. And just as a test I was able to search and add a new place. No issues. Maybe reinstall fb.

Thanks for checking. I reinstalled twice already. Are you able to tell me your location settings?
All my settings in Facebook are checked. 1 hour sync interval. Location enabled etc. Have you checked your location settings on android itself to make sure its on.

Yeah, everything is on. Very strange
OK, so here is something weird. I turned on WiFi and it works fine, but on T-Mobile H network it gives me the "no places found". Why would that be??
I never had that issue at all even on hspa aka T-Mobile network or WiFi. I just wonder if your an isolated problem. Or it won't work via mobile to add a new place.

What's weird is that it works on WiFi. Then when I turn off WiFi it still works. But if I restart my phone it won't work again until I connect to WiFi. Annoying!
When I am browsing the internet, some times my mobilde data network gone and can not connect the internet. after some times automatically mobile data network arrive and works find again.
Now my questien is how to know it is a problem of my network operator. And how to know it is not a hardware or internal problem of my phone (Galaxy Note 3)?
Are you on the move when this happens, or at the edge of the signal tower range?
Get the same here. It shows the arrows as sending data but not receiving any. Not on the move either and full signal. Also if I switch WIFI on when that happens it still doesn't download data. After a while it will work. Never had it happen on my previous phone.

I am having N9005 in India though this model is not launched in India. I got it from Thailand. I am on stock N9005XXEUNB4, rooted and cwm flashed.
I am facing strange problem, my 3G Signal suddenly goes off though mobile data is on. This starts only after I switch off phone and switch on it after 5 min. And this problem occurs once in approx.48 hours. Please help.

check mobile data setting and also ask from operator
if configuration set automatically then search to set it manually.

Settings are ok, confirmed by service provider.

For the past week I've been having problems with network. It keeps showing No Service for a couple of minutes, and I can't receive calls/messages in the meantime. I attached a screenshot
I tried to google "Galaxy s5 no service" and there is a post on technobezz.com where they say to enter Service mode by dialing code *#*#4636#*#* but it didn't work for me
I contacted my service provider (Rogers), they reset network settings and I thought it fixed the issue as it was working fine for a couple of hours but then it started doing same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I noticed it was only happening when I was connected to wifi at work.
Somehow, it worked itself out . And working fine now... knocking on the wood

Friends of mine were at my house over the weekend and he had a samsung s4 and had the same problem after logging onto my wifi. It is the wifi causing the problem. I had an old modem and netgear router that we hooked up and then we were able to receive calls like you should. We switched out the modem/router combo on Sat to my older setup and my phone is still working normally! I called my dsl provider and told them about the problem as I just bought the modem/router combo from them recently.
They never heard of anything like this. I do find it hard to believe that the home wifi equipment disrutes the cell phone signal. But my phone is now working!!! Anyone ever heard of this or that can explain why this would happen I would love to hear about it.
I was having the same problem and what fixed mine was going to settings>more networks>mobile networks>network operators,, once the scan finishes I had 2 networks named the same ( in my case EE) I then just tried the other EE network and up to yet its all working , hope this helps and you all get yours fixed :good:
