Hi,
Does pressing the sensor too hard damage it? Does it decrease the sensitivity of the sensor?
Yes, pressing it too hard damages the sensor. Would you volunteer to find out what too hard means?

No I never faced such issue..
This is common in 303K and 305K version phones.. Just chill not a big issue.
If you are rooted you can use smart screen on to wake/off the device with a tap/slide.

I have gone through that particular thread before. Although I have always used LMT to lock, and turn the screen off, but I am not very comfortable with apps like s2w. Anyway, I am thinking more along the lines of a hardware fix. Has anyone gotten theirs done?

Unfortunately, it is not a high quality switch. But it is easily replaceable.
Hi,
Googling doesn't help much really. Anyone have an idea of what it is used for? I mean the grip sensor.
Thanks.
Where did you see such a thing in the first place ?
*Might help to figure out which sensor is this...

Hello everyone, so about a week ago i purchased a Mattel View-MasterĀ® starter pack. It came yesterday.
So when i tried to look at the fox nothing happened, and searching on google i found that this phone has no gyroscope sensor. And our brother J7 also does not have it?
So, my question is - is there a way that you can simulate gyroscope on our sweet J5?
Or i just wasted 30 bucks? :crying:
Thanks
EDIT : I just found a xposed module that allows you to simulate gyroscope. testing it now

Nope. You can't. To save the money sell it or ask for refund. Or get a new device.

No results... it needs a magnetic sensor
Is there an app to simulate magnetic sensor?

J5 has a ,,somehow,, magnetic sensor near the audio jack. It is used for smart covers. If you put a magnet near it screen goes off .
---------- Post added at 12:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 PM ----------
You can check the location with *#0*# on dialer and press FIELD button

Nah.. Sensor box is related to files that are in system/etc/permissions. There are declared all the hardware capabilities. And since gyroscope and magnetic sensor files are not there, apps won't regognize it even the board has these chips.

Don't you mean jelly fixed screen?
Expected to buy it. Until I seen this review. FP sensor on the back... No way for me.
Best look yet, but it's in Spanish.

Hopefully it is fixed. But this video doesn't go into that kind of depth.

I translated the Spanish as:
"I'll confirm if the panel isn't inverted or has the Jelly effect in a more in-depth review, but it doesn't seem like it does have this from my quick unboxing."

I think I'll get it anyway and try it myself.

After using Nexus and Pixel devices, there is no better place than the back for the FP sensor.

Apart from the front where you can see it ? and it doubles as home button no need for an extra button.

The home buttons, as they are now, take up way too much space. And, you can pull a Pixel or OnePlus 5T out of a pants pocket and have it already unlocked before you can even find the button on the front of a phone.
All comes down to ergonomics. Just makes more sense on the back.

For my thumb, it is.
Using a long phone like this and trying to use a thumb to unlock it while gripping it may just make me drop the phone. The index finger on the back makes more sense as I'm already grabbing the phone naturally. My index finger can reach the back fp sensor naturally, but I need to move my thumb downwards to reach a front fp sensor and if the phone is long, I need to shift the phone upwards so my thumb can reach the bottom of the phone. Trying to adjust the phone using one hand in order to reach the front fp sensor makes no sense to me.
Of course a front fp sensor makes most sense for unlocking the phone on the table, no doubt about that. But I can always use double tap to wake and unlock it using pin or pattern. And if the phone is near me, I can just look at it to face unlock.
Hello, I need to know if the Mi A1 has a magnetometer, I checked their website but it's not listed there: http://www.mi.com/en/mi-a1/specs/
anyone around here willing to help? Would appreciate some cpuz captures and/or skymap app test... thanks
Here you go (it has one)

It is listed there: A 'Hall sensor' is a kind of magnetometer. It confused me at first too.
Yes, it has one and yes, it works.

Hall sensor is not a magnetometer and doesn't work as a compass, it just detects flip protection covers to turn the screen on/off when open/closed, so no, the magnetometer is not listed there. Thank you anyway.

I did a deep dive on this about 5 months ago. The magnetometer used in the A1 is a AK09918 by AsashiKashei. That may be or not be what Xiaomi means by Hall sensor, but I took it to mean it was. Your interpretation may vary. You are welcome.
AK09918 is 3-axis electronic compass IC with high sensitive Hall sensor technology.

It does, I've tested it with Sensor Test from Google Play. The bar jumps up when I get the phone close to a metal.
