So I am thinking about buying one of these on my next paycheck to replace my current Android Headunit. It has 2GB RAM, Intel Processor, Android 5.1.1 and everything I want except for a full touch interface. The question I have is, will this unit still have the same problem with the internal MIC being too weak for bluetooth calls and also the parrallel MIC issue where if you hook an external MIC up you end up hurting the quality of BOTH MIC's? If so, does this mean I will have to void my warranty and disconnect the INTERNAL microphone by snipping the red and black wire near the solder pads?
Also
How much faster will these units be versus an A9 Cortex Quad Core with the same RAM and same O.S? Is there any way I can get one with a full touch interface?
What do you mean with full touch interface?
I had a MTCD rk3188 with external mic and it was working very well

Hello, thanks for replying to me.
The full touch interface meaning no knobs or buttons, all of it is touch screen, like this unit here:

The buttons are on a touch panel which is apart of the fascia.
With your external mic, to get it to work did you have to disconnect the internal mic?
Also do you believe this unit will outperform the newer Ownice C500 with Android 6, especially the 8 core units?

Thats the one i am returning back to seller (rk3188 1gb ram broken display) to receive the same but on Intel CPU and 2gb ram.
I never had any problem with mic.
My seller is Hotaudio (Aliexpress)
My impressions are these:
Don't get only with hardware specs.... Overall in terms of Chinese products...
That unit seems to have good hardware.... But what about the support?
Few brands give you the expected support.... But MTCD headunits have a good users support here in forums that sellers can't give.
When I decided what Android unit to buy I selected MTCD due to the good support on forums.
MTCD units are sold by a lot of resellers and "manufactured" by several manufacturers... That gives you the option for having more users and a lot of answers....

What is an MTCD unit? and how will I know which units are MTCD and which ones are not? The unit you're purchasing now, is it MTCD? I am very interested in it.
It is mtcd but with Intel sofia 3gr CPU. 2gb ram.
Joying sells mtcd units as well.
Previous version was MTCB (Android 4.4 1gb) mtcc was a patch of MTCB and mtcd was new hardware (mcu) and Android 5.1.1 based in rockchip rk3188 (still 1gb).
Now, using the same mcu platform they arw moving to Intel 3230rk soc and 2gb ram...I don't know why they still are labelling as mtcd ....
Mtcd appears under "device information" menu

Do you happen to have a link to the Intel unit that Hotaudio is selling? I reached out to them and they told me that they did not have any units such as this. Is there anything I need to mention specifically?
Perhaps the people thta sells the units don't know about them.
They are being tested. Joying started to sell them and people has been received the first ones in their homea

Where did you guys order your units from? Amazon or directly from Joying? I would rather order through amazon for the better customer service but if they aren't shipping until the end of nov/beginning of dec I would order through Joying to receive it sooner.

Wow, there's really not much inside there at all.
I can see that a lot more is integrated into the SoC board.
Interesting that the motherboard filename marking has PX3 in it.
Makes it more likely these are an evolution of the Rockchip motherboard design and not a totally new one.

Ok, I was told that new Joying JY-UL135N2 Universal 2DIN 2G RAM 32G Memory units with Intel Sofia3g are not MTCD based MCU.
I got following MCU Version: 2016-08-29 15:46:12 JY_(NOR)__90_C9_7706_5009_CAN(GX)_Newlap.

I'm getting this Toyota Fielder 2012 (NZE161) [basically the Japanese version of the Corolla wagon] this week. As this is a JDM car, it comes with a sat nav that only does Japan and everything is in Japanese.
I am looking for a cheap android head unit with basic needs -- will support the rear view camera already installed, will support the GPS antenna already there in the wind screen, will support the steering controls, play the radio, music and a few videos from the SD card, be able to update google maps via wifi, blutooth would be nice too.
Since I am in Bangladesh I have no access to Amazon and ebay and headunits in Aliexpress are a bit confusing. I'm not sure which head unit would go into the dash properly.
Any suggestions, pointing directions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm also looking for a new head unit for my Toyota (2012 GT86), I'm pretty much after the same thing as you, it should be fast and will play spotify most of the time, also an SIM will be fitted. I'm debating between the latest Joying with Intel Sofia chipset or the Ownice C500 Quad or even octa core. They all seem to be a very solid buy. The ownice comes in a Toyota special version which seems to be really plug and play and does not require any additional cables. I do think you have to fit the GPS receiver of the new head unit though. The camera could be compatible if it has a RCA or S video plug (mine oem Toyota has s video)
Go to any intel 2gb ram:
× joying units
× mtcd intel units
Look for joying store in aliexpress and look for the best model that could fit your car (or go to universal one) but ensure it is intel 2gb ram
Well supported in xda forums and they can be used for all you want.

Wait a bit the MTCD PX5s are probably the way to go. Right now you can only get the Universal, but soon they'll have them for more cars. Just give it another month.
Hey all,
I am in the market for a new android head unit for my car (07' Civic Type R EU). I already purchased the Connects2 kit for fascia and to retain SWC control. I have read a lot of threads in this forum and as far as I understood all of the Chinese android units are almost the same except with different bugs and caveats. Currently I'm choosing between 7" universal 2GB Intel based from Joying (DE-JY-UM124 model) and Ownice C500 (DGS7002G?) with octa core (PX5?). Both of them are around the same price but even after reading through a lot of topics there is still not correct choice. A plus for PX5 would be the custom Malaysk's ROMs which provide quite a lot of fixes/additions to the unit.
I would mainly use the head unit for radio/BT audio/Spotify/etc, aftermarket rear camera and maybe DVR (I heard Ownice C500 has problems with turning on the rear view camera when in reverse?), GPS navigation. Would also try out ODBII capabilities and other options that the head unit would provide.
Which would be the best option (maybe something else would be better? I heard Malaysk bought from Dasaita, but they do not ship to Lithuania)?
Also, any suggestions before doing the purchase/installation? I bought a pack of small aluminium heatsink radiators as I was reading that Joying unit had some problems with dissipating heat, is the internal layout for PX5 Ownice C500 much different? Or does the unit not suffer from high temperatures and throttling?
Thank you in advance.

Be careful. Ownice 500 is NOT px5.
Ownice is Allwinner octacore processor while px5 is rockchip.
Ownice community support is very low compared with mtcd units (px5 is mtcd based - mtcd is the mcu type)

Got my Joying yesterday after I got this advice from a friend: Intel knows how to sleep and will wake-up/boot in 2-3 seconds, which I confirm. Other units will take 30-40 seconds to boot-up. Plus the 3GB RAM. I was very surprised of the quality, especially the display.

Ikerg says the truth,
There is no Joying model with 3 Gb of ram and there are no Mediatek processors with the MT3561 and MT3562 characters. Ownice uses processors that are not Mediatek.
Even the MTCD head units with PX5 have a fast 2 second boot and the PX5 is really a fast processor.
Sincerely Ownice C500 is to be discarded, Joying is a good brand but the PX5 is more performing as a processor than Sofia.
At least I checked this out.

I don't beleive Ownice should be discarded. The New Octacore seems to be working fine in all the right areas, and plenty of speed/capability. Granted only had a few days but I have tested almost every function satisfactorily (except DAB+)
For a car, refuse to have a unit with no volume rotary knob, as I don't have a car with steering wheel controls and I don't like the add ons.

I would buy the Dasaita one, I was in contact with @hotaudio as somehow the aliexpress store doesn't ship to Lithuania. One thing that bites me off is possible customs/VAT which could inflate the price to like 30% more than Joying unit from Germany
As a Joying Intel Sofia user I can only recommend the Joying brand and the Sofia units . Yes the quad core might be a bit low clocked but it's pretty fine for everything, GPS apps, music from various sources, and real time sound processing made by Viper. The onboard 32Gb of storage is more then generous and the 2Gb of RAM are very nice to have. The presence of GLONASS is more then welcome and a good addition for the city's with high buildings for a better GPS accuracy. Joying made the jump from Andoid 5 to 6 and they are working to polish it. There is a good community around the Intel Sofia with plenty of mods.
And the instant power on... oh man... I don't if I can live without it.

All chinese units come with poor RDS support. Almost none of them really properly supports RDS-RT and almost none of them supports RDS-AF in the correct way.
Can you confirm that works correct on the Ownice Octa-core? Because that would really be a premium.

IMHO I will get that unit with more community support

Sorry, I'm lost. Which you think that have more community support? The Dasaita V600 ( https://m.es.aliexpress.com/s/item/...spm=a219c.12010608.0.0.5208143T6jna2#autostay ) or the Ownice 500 that have a support forum here in xda ( https://m.pt.aliexpress.com/s/item/...pm=a2g03.12010612.0.0.29bd38ccCCV5A0#autostay ).
Where is the community support for the Dasaita V600? Here in xda site?

You're better off with the INTEL unit. Lots of cool stuff happening with that right now, including custom recovery, and replacement for all of their horrid software.
No telling yet what, if any of that, will carry through to PX5 (which also, despite being 8 cores, is 8 very very WEAK A53 cores).
Just ask yourself why they're charging LESS for the "new PX5" units than the old Intel ones....
Looks like a standard MTCD to me. The software looks identical except for the joying launcher app which would just copy over.

Does the PX5 unit have standby/resume, or some type of instant on? I did not see this mentioned on the page.
Does it have active cooling, or will thermal throttling still be an issue (as with the sofia)?
Will there be an 7" VW unit also? Some people want buttons on their radio
expecially the people who dont have steering wheel buttons. The touch screen is hard to manage while driving

For VW special unit,we only make 9'' without buttons now,we will make other size in the future, now we have Bluetooth steering wheel control,it is very convenient to use when driving, and it can support all of JOYING head unit
Does it support RDS-AF? Your joying intel units don't support that. It is completely incorrect implemented.
Does it support rds-txt? Your joying intel units support it terribly bad, as it is mixed in an 8 byte string together with RDS-PS where the RDS-PS text always has priority over the rds-txt text.

Yes,the PX5 has standby/resume,it only takes 2 seconds to boot up,and it almost no heat, better than the Intel

Maybe several months later, you can buy from China
Seller is promoting an MTCD PX5. Nothing new, same bugs.
Hi
I have and old Sofia 3R 1 GHz 1 core head unit in my Open Corsa
Its extremely slow and I'd like to update to another unit
What should I know before buying another one? What is the lastest recommended?
I am asking this because i found a little messy this forum, because everyone is talking about a different MCU
thanks beforehand!
teyes and ts7/10/18 (topway) are non FYT based. Theyve got the 2000x1200QLED screens and the TS18 is the 13" 1920x1080 QLED. They are floating units, much like thick tablets. Most of the others headunits out there are either single or double din units, such as joying. There are very few problems when it comes to head units, some are sorted out by the manufacturer-and mostly to do with bluetooth connectivity. FYT based units dont have aggressive restrictions on changing system firmware variables and as such there are some custom roms for those that like to fix certain aspects of their systems such as themes, system managers, rooting, and overall control of the device's software itself. FYT-based units are the most forgiving to work out problems.
I own a Topway TS10 10.36" 2000x1200 8gb/128gb 7862uis cpu and the single problem is that i own a creative gc7 dac that uses spdif and its own bluetooth app. The creative bluetooth app doesnt want to connect to the DAC at all.
If using a DAC and you want to route ALL the head units audio to it than an FYT based unit offers the capability of changing to that. I haven't given any attention to the mediatec android HUs.
Heres some useful posts

Theres are also the new android headunits that have the snapdragon 665 Processor that are now popping up on the market. Ive yet to see anyone review it, but its should be the most up-to-date hardware and software. Possibly real android 11/12, fixes to prior known issues..... maybe....

Yes but if I want to buy a new one I don't know where to start
Heres an FYT based QLED https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/mekede-m6pro-plus-with-2k-2000x1200-screen.4516547/. Theres no need to mess with anything to do with MCU unless you plan on modding.
At the time the biggest selling point to me was the 360 degree camera setup, but joying didnt have a unit with that design. You also should consider converting high-level to low-level RCA outputs no matter what headunit you go with, unless you plan on using spdif digital output. Both are options for a stronger voltage and cleaner singal
how can you identify FYT and no FYT?
I won't buy joying again because there is not customisez face for the car anymore

You don't specify what shape you need. For example, Mekede has different types for Opel Corsa, choose the one that suits you. The UIS7862S FYT is listed in the table on the device page, I recommend taking the m600s or m700s, the memory requirements of applications keep increasing. If you want HDMI or a 360° camera, write to the seller.

all you need to know is that FYT is moddable, non FYT has virtually no aftermarket modding support other than what is provided by the manufacturer and a very rare instance of a rooting possibility. Some people prefer non-FYT aka TS10/TS18 because of the more appealing theme, upgradeable Windows Theme firmware, and manufacturing of their own independent software that suits the mass appeal aspect.
FYT and non-FYT can both use the "fastest" processor to date that makes up Android head unit (uis7862). OP needs to ruse through the Mekede, Topway, and Joying FYT kernel mass mega threads.. It might take awhile, but theres tons of helpful info. If you want a bezel matching headunit than that would already limit your options, unless OP you can find a bezel purchase separately. Distinguishing between FYT and Non-FYT ISNT always specified by the resellers. Lots of threads posted about what HU they have. If you want to see more, please post requirements you seek in a HU.... WhATs YoUr bUdGEt.
If i HAD to choose. GO WITH the MEKEDE or TEYES CC3 for FYT based units or the Topway TS10/18 for Non-FYT.

Both of those choices look good, personally Id get the FYT model. Ask seller if it comes with optical output, and if they say optional, just tell them to include it. I can tell you that the 8GB/128gb isn't lightning fast, but it definitely isnt slow. Its CPU is from Q2 2020 so its still speedy. My android test bench without running a ton of background apps eats up 2+gb of ram, so a 7862 with 4gb/64gb would probably be bare minimum. Driving with it running Maps, youtube, amazon music, spotify, carplay, ect probably gets closer to 3.5-4Gb. In terms of hardware, the FYT model is exactly what i own, besides the QLED screen. It also has the option for front/rear usb dvr cameras as well as the 360 degree camera system, as a potential upgrade path.
Opting for the lower ram capacity, you could always add external storage for media content. I wouldnt recommend anything lower than 6Gb seeing as though that is the bare bones stock that comes with loads of tablets, as mainstream tablet manufacturers probably make it 6Gb for a good reason.
Ask the non-FYT seller if their HU supports 360 degree bird eye camera, if you are interested in that.

well. 8/128 GB 210K in Antutu means more than Oneplus 3T mobile, is low for todays standarts of speed in mobile phone, but remember I come from Sofia 3gr with 1 core at 1 Ghz
My idea is getting 6 or 8 GB of RAM if possible and UIS7862S FYI if I can. I think I can have it till the end of the times of my corsa hehe
I wouldn't change SOFIA, but is extremely slow and unresponsive, and being x86 some apk on the internet don't run propertly
Its a big plus if you can find out if the one in question is an FYT model, make sure to ask. First thing Id do with an FYT model is install MarioDantas FYT manager and kernel rom. His mod offers lots of optimizations for 6Gb/8Gb models. Take a look https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-fyt-7862-a-s-kernel-md-edition-with-fmc.4542673/
