Which head unit? - Android Head-Units

I'm getting this Toyota Fielder 2012 (NZE161) [basically the Japanese version of the Corolla wagon] this week. As this is a JDM car, it comes with a sat nav that only does Japan and everything is in Japanese.
I am looking for a cheap android head unit with basic needs -- will support the rear view camera already installed, will support the GPS antenna already there in the wind screen, will support the steering controls, play the radio, music and a few videos from the SD card, be able to update google maps via wifi, blutooth would be nice too.
Since I am in Bangladesh I have no access to Amazon and ebay and headunits in Aliexpress are a bit confusing. I'm not sure which head unit would go into the dash properly.
Any suggestions, pointing directions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also looking for a new head unit for my Toyota (2012 GT86), I'm pretty much after the same thing as you, it should be fast and will play spotify most of the time, also an SIM will be fitted. I'm debating between the latest Joying with Intel Sofia chipset or the Ownice C500 Quad or even octa core. They all seem to be a very solid buy. The ownice comes in a Toyota special version which seems to be really plug and play and does not require any additional cables. I do think you have to fit the GPS receiver of the new head unit though. The camera could be compatible if it has a RCA or S video plug (mine oem Toyota has s video)

Go to any intel 2gb ram:
× joying units
× mtcd intel units
Look for joying store in aliexpress and look for the best model that could fit your car (or go to universal one) but ensure it is intel 2gb ram
Well supported in xda forums and they can be used for all you want.

The Joying ones in aliexpress are either too big to fit my car or have 1GB of RAM. What sort of problems will I face if have to go for a 1GB ram head unit?

I do not recommend 1gb ram
Joying has both 1din and 2din Intel 2gb

Wait a bit the MTCD PX5s are probably the way to go. Right now you can only get the Universal, but soon they'll have them for more cars. Just give it another month.

Most stable and plug'n'play head unit for my basic needs?

Hi guys. I'm looking for an Android head unit thats stable and pretty much plug'n'play.
I dont have alot of demands apart from the above so i'll just list the rest of them and hear if you guys got some suggestions on what to get.
The car i got is a 2008 Seat Leon.
"demands" list:
GPS (Maybe through google maps if possible since i like that gps)
Radio
Being able to hear music through spotify (on the device)
Being able to stream music from phone (through spotify etc)
Radio RDS (if possible?)
So is there anything out there for me?
Sure. Most will do that.
I recommend the newer Joying units with Intel CPU and 2 GB RAM. They're pretty fast.
if you want plug and play, get a unit specific for your vehicle. like @doitright said, the new Joying units are pretty great
You can go to mtcd intel 2gb (not joying). Same processor, same bt and wifi....different mcu but old and stable mcu (used on old mtcd rk3188 chipset based)
They are often cheaper than joying (perhaps less support but full covered by XDA forums)
You have to ensure it is intel and 2gb ram (never go to rk3188 1gb ram because it ia laggy and slow)

Android headunit for Holden/Vauxhall/Opel Astra AH 2005

Hi all,
I'm after an Android HU for my 05 Astra. Previously I've only bought universal units, never one specifically for my make/model. I currently own a Parrot Asteroid Smart and an Eonon RK3188 unit. I love the bluetooth call quality and functions of the Parrot but it's dated now and can't run alot of apps. The Eonon can run any apps but has the common issue with terrible bluetooth call quality. It seems the current choices are either Intel Sofia based or Octacore units. I'm presuming the Bluetooth problems of the previous generation are fixed on both of these now? A couple of questions:
1) Which brand is a good choice?
a) Joying. I generally hear good things about them, but they are running the Quadcore Intel Sofia platform only which I have heard can get quite hot, no Octacore options and the video on their page seemed to show some lag - https://www.carjoying.com/head-unit...th-audio-backup-camera-1024-600-full-tou.html
b) Ownice. not sure about their reputation, seems a bit mixed compared to some of the others. http://www.ownice.com/Pro_Car GPS navi for Opel Astra Antara Corsa Zafira_402.html
c) Dasaita/HotAudio. Looks very similar unit to the Ownice, not sure which has the better support/software? I read that Malaysk has bought one of these so potential for custom ROM in future? http://www.hot-audio.com/product/Da...re_2GB_Ram_Auto_Radio_Multimedia_Navi-95.html
d) In-Dash-Net/Mind Bridge. I've been following the InDashNet thread for a while and see that they have recently upgraded to Parrot Bluetooth, but only on the universal unit not on the Astra specific http://www.in-dash.net/buy_en/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=22_8&product_id=22 So I would need adaptors to get the unit to fit correctly and steering wheel controls etc working http://www.in-dash.net/buy_en/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=23&product_id=268
e) Any others I have missed? Seems that it would be a waste of money getting an Intel Quadcore with the Octacore units gaining popularity, but perhaps the Intel units are more refined?
2) Are these specific units plug and play, requiring no adaptors to get standard features (ie steering wheel controls) working without canbus adaptors etc?
Any suggestion is much appreciated, would be great to hear from anyone using an Astra specific unit and what their thoughts are. Thanks in advance!
Only for Support, clearly Joying, don't worry about x86 chips.. they're faster than mediatek and rockchip. About temperaturas you can use a heat sink or a fan
Ownice is a good one but they not have RDS for example and not as good support as joying
The rest I don't trust on them, just read here about whats the most supported by community
Joying could give some kins of support ....but the really good support is the community support
Even joying is the reference for Intel sofia...dasaita is for px5. The best community developers are moving to px5 and Malaysk has moved to dasaita px5
Px5 is the premium model (new px3 2gb ram will be the basic model)
Ask @hotaudio for the specific model for your car.
I have an Intel hotaudio and I am going to move to hotaudio px5 as well.
Avoid ownice....lot of problems and very low community support

Ownice C500 octa core VS Joying 2GB

Hey all,
I am in the market for a new android head unit for my car (07' Civic Type R EU). I already purchased the Connects2 kit for fascia and to retain SWC control. I have read a lot of threads in this forum and as far as I understood all of the Chinese android units are almost the same except with different bugs and caveats. Currently I'm choosing between 7" universal 2GB Intel based from Joying (DE-JY-UM124 model) and Ownice C500 (DGS7002G?) with octa core (PX5?). Both of them are around the same price but even after reading through a lot of topics there is still not correct choice. A plus for PX5 would be the custom Malaysk's ROMs which provide quite a lot of fixes/additions to the unit.
I would mainly use the head unit for radio/BT audio/Spotify/etc, aftermarket rear camera and maybe DVR (I heard Ownice C500 has problems with turning on the rear view camera when in reverse?), GPS navigation. Would also try out ODBII capabilities and other options that the head unit would provide.
Which would be the best option (maybe something else would be better? I heard Malaysk bought from Dasaita, but they do not ship to Lithuania)?
Also, any suggestions before doing the purchase/installation? I bought a pack of small aluminium heatsink radiators as I was reading that Joying unit had some problems with dissipating heat, is the internal layout for PX5 Ownice C500 much different? Or does the unit not suffer from high temperatures and throttling?
Thank you in advance.

Be careful. Ownice 500 is NOT px5.
Ownice is Allwinner octacore processor while px5 is rockchip.
Ownice community support is very low compared with mtcd units (px5 is mtcd based - mtcd is the mcu type)

Got my Joying yesterday after I got this advice from a friend: Intel knows how to sleep and will wake-up/boot in 2-3 seconds, which I confirm. Other units will take 30-40 seconds to boot-up. Plus the 3GB RAM. I was very surprised of the quality, especially the display.

Ikerg says the truth,
There is no Joying model with 3 Gb of ram and there are no Mediatek processors with the MT3561 and MT3562 characters. Ownice uses processors that are not Mediatek.
Even the MTCD head units with PX5 have a fast 2 second boot and the PX5 is really a fast processor.
Sincerely Ownice C500 is to be discarded, Joying is a good brand but the PX5 is more performing as a processor than Sofia.
At least I checked this out.

I don't beleive Ownice should be discarded. The New Octacore seems to be working fine in all the right areas, and plenty of speed/capability. Granted only had a few days but I have tested almost every function satisfactorily (except DAB+)
For a car, refuse to have a unit with no volume rotary knob, as I don't have a car with steering wheel controls and I don't like the add ons.

I would buy the Dasaita one, I was in contact with @hotaudio as somehow the aliexpress store doesn't ship to Lithuania. One thing that bites me off is possible customs/VAT which could inflate the price to like 30% more than Joying unit from Germany
As a Joying Intel Sofia user I can only recommend the Joying brand and the Sofia units . Yes the quad core might be a bit low clocked but it's pretty fine for everything, GPS apps, music from various sources, and real time sound processing made by Viper. The onboard 32Gb of storage is more then generous and the 2Gb of RAM are very nice to have. The presence of GLONASS is more then welcome and a good addition for the city's with high buildings for a better GPS accuracy. Joying made the jump from Andoid 5 to 6 and they are working to polish it. There is a good community around the Intel Sofia with plenty of mods.
And the instant power on... oh man... I don't if I can live without it.

All chinese units come with poor RDS support. Almost none of them really properly supports RDS-RT and almost none of them supports RDS-AF in the correct way.
Can you confirm that works correct on the Ownice Octa-core? Because that would really be a premium.

That is the RDS-PS function. All chinese units do that. It is the rest they lack and especially the incorrectly implemented AF sucks.

Yes. 800x480 resolution (too low) and only 1gb ram. it seems to be an Intel sofia mtcd based unit. Avoid any android headunit with only 1gb ram like that.
