it'll crash it self, try to reboot (like an infinite loop) but it just freezes up during reboot. it would usually take about 3-7 hours to reboot after i kept restarting it myself. today it took about 18-22 hours. also its acting slow if i am lucky to get it back up, lots of lag. I tried a factory reset, it didnt work (it failed). So I flashed it with an application named odin after I downloaded the stock AP, BL, CP for tmobile. (tmobile phone btw)
no one has ever attempted to ever flash this phone or trying anything crazy on it. it just started happening out of no where. I have asked tmobile for a replacement. I waited a week because they said they were out of stock, I called today and they said the new phone wont be in for another 27 days... hahaha.
anyways, the problem is more than just annoying as you could imagine. what would do you guys recommend me to do? I have already lost all my data on my phone. i dont care about whatever is on there anymore, i cant even make a phone call or a text on this thing. i am about to download ODIN, the stock firmware files and try flashing it like that again. I did that last time about 4 times because even after I did that, it was still having problems and kept starting. there is something seriously wrong with this phone, but i dont know what? I dont know what to do
any thoughts? I think it may just be a hardware issue
If you have already tried flashing it with ODIN and same issue persists.. then it definitely is a hardware issue
Get it replaced ASAP
I also think it's the hardware. The processor is maybe damaged or is overheating.
okay great, my thoughts exactly. just 20 more days until tmobile will have my replacement...

I've got two main problems with my galaxy s.
1) Today at around 1pm I had to force close something (I don't even remember what it was. I had just woken up the phone and went to check my mail, so I assume Launcher pro or something). It kept prompting me to force close, so I just took out the battery and reboot it. The phone can no longer get passed the initial screen (before the S). I've tried to reset to factory defaults, and it still doesn't work. I assume I can re-flash (not home yet) - but I'm wondering what would cause this type of behavior. FYI - I've been running 2.2 JPH with Rombie's mod)
2) I get really bad reception. I constantly will have my phone go from no service to 3-4 bars while sitting in the same spot. I also have a problem in busy areas where I'll lose my connection completely (whereas other people with different phones seem to have no problem right beside me). Is there anything that could be causing these issues?
Side note: When I originally upgraded to 2.2 JPH I had efs issues for a while, and it took me a while to get it up and running. It's working now (phone and data) - I'm just worried there's some residual effects of a mildly corrupted efs or something.
Update...
Things have gotten worse and I really need some suggestions.
I've tried flashing about 5 different firmwares and I can't get the thing going.
The closest I've come is with the stock jh2 firmware. It boots and it goes to a black screen after the S logo. I know this has been brought up but I have not had success with solutions I've found in other threads. I've tried it with pit512 513 and 803. I've tried it with repartition checked and unchecked.
When I try a 2.2 rom (such as the latest jpk) and upon resetting in the recovery mode, I receive an SDCARD failed to mount error (although one time I also received a failed to load DBDATA error). It also won't let me format the sdcard in this screen as obviously it can't mount it.
The closest I've come to getting the sdcard working is on the jh2 firmware i can "load update.zip" from my firmware, and it seems to actually load - unfortunately that update.zip is completely useless (as it's just an unlocker update i believe) - and I can't change the update.zip as I can't access the sdcard.
Please help if you can!
I had the same problem. My phone was working fine and then it just turned off and froze. I resetted it a few times and it would go to the S logo and then the screen would go blank and the buttons would light up. Resetting it a few more times made it work once but then when i started it again the phone would go back to the same problem.
I tried a ton of rom on it and some worked (but my internal sd card wouldn't mount). The problem got progressively worse by it's self and my phone wouldn't even start now. I recently send it back to Bell to get it repaired and hopefully they don't ping me saying it was my fault for ****ing around, which I doubt they will find out at this point since the damn thing doesn't even turn on.
I researched this a fair bit (2 full nights) and found out that it had something to do with me flashing Jp3 and that set my internal sd card as read only somehow. It's a bug and if you google it a lot of people have had this problem but none had a working solution and everyone of them had to send it back for repair.
Edit: I am also Canadian with a bell phone.
If I end up sending it back to bell, will flashing back to something like JH2 help cover my tracks?
Any idea how long it takes? I can't really go without a phone for more than a couple days =/

Honestly, it is a very frustrating process. They quote you a 2 - 6 week window and do not give you any hard time table and to top that off they don't have any loaner phones that are smart phones. The loaners cost $25 and $250 down.
I had to go out and find one from a friend and even then they wouldn't let me use a CDMA phone since i had a HSPA+ data plan and it some how ****s with their system. The only way you can use a phone on their network is using a HSPA+ phone if you need data. Luckily a friend had a HTC magic that was unlocked so I am using that now.
You can try to load up the default rom that ships with it and then send it in for repair.
Is the default rom JH2?
I believe it is this one I9000UGJH2
Alright so I can adb in to my phone when it's in recovery mode.
Does this help at all? Can i try anything from here?
Hi, im just wondering if anyone is having this problem. Im on an I9505 and am getting some horrible crashes. Im struggling to pin point what is causing it as it happens at random times. Sometimes I can go days with no problem but then out of the blue it will crash. What happens when it crashes is the bad bit though. It goes into a boot loop, it starts, displays samsung screen, goes into animation, stops halfway and then reboots again.
I have to take the battery out for a few mins and it usually restarts.
I have tried pretty much every firmware there is and it does it with everyone.
Ive tried restoring to factory, wiping cache etc.
Im now at the point of returning the phone as ive pretty much had enough now but i thought id throw it out there and see if anyone else is having this problem.
Im now in the process of reflashing back to MDM and trying one last time.
Someone please Help
I have never had such problems. It crashed once, but it was my fault so it doesn't count. If you have tried everything, then probably the phone is messed up and giving it back to the shop is the right decision to make.

Before heading to shop flash original firmware+kernel
use triangle away to reset binary count (version3 works with stock kernels)

Yeah all done and now sent away to Samsung. The guy in carphone warehouse said to be honest, he has had quite a few back with several types of issues especially overheating. He also said that considering the high value of the handset, Samsung would be very unlikely to try and fault find the problem and would most likely send me a new one. Should take a week to two weeks.

Hi, I bought my GS4 i9500 around 2 months ago, and few days ago while I was listening to music, someone called me and I noticed that the phone was a bit hot. I'm not exactly sure that that was the source of this problem.
Anyway, when I put the phone down, it didn't work, and after a few seconds it rebooted.
Ever since it rebooted it keeps doing problems - it reboots once in a while, the wi-fi doesn't work, and the touch is delayed sometimes (it doesn't respond for a while, and after a few seconds it suddenly responds to all the gestures I did over the last few seconds.).
I tried factory resting it, change frimware, clear cache and everything, and still nothing worked. It still does these problems.
I took it to the store where I bought it and they flashed it, and still it didn't solve it.
The problem is I rooted the phone, and I'm afraid the warranty won't be accepted if I send them the device.
Anyone knows what the problem might be?
Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks.

you dont have other then flash stock and send it to warranty, they may not check binary counter.
it may be a hardware issue.

What should I do if they do not accept it?
Any way of knowing whats wrong with the device?
So I've run into a problem with my wife's phone which is not rooted. Ever since she took the bog5 OTA if her battery is at 50% or less it reboots repeatedly until the battery dies, almost like a boot loop but it goes to the lock screen every time and if you are fast you can interact with it. It also occasionally randomly reboots once or twice between 80 and 50%.
kies wont do anything, vzw repair tool wont either and odin wasn't much help either, also vzw said since it has insurance I could pay for an insurance replacement. Any ideas are appreciated.. thanks

Is the phone even rooted? This sounds like a phone/verizon problem, not an xda problem. You said odin was no help, but no clue what you tried to do.
OK I made that post after being up 20 hours, 12 at work and 5 more driving. Any how I'll try to be more detailed.
No the phone is not and was not rooted as I stated above, it is a 16th g900v it took the bog5 Ota about 2 weeks ago while I was away for work. When my wife called me and complained about it continually restarting I had her try backing up with kies then doing a wipe data factory reset, that didn't solve the problem. So the problem sat until I was home last weekend. When I Got home I tried a new battery (my known good batt) then i tried odin, I read saw and disregarded the information that said it cannot be downgraded until I verified it, then I tried reclassified the official bog5 firmware downloaded from sammobile, and it had the same problem so then I tried kies got angry and tried the vzw upgrade assistant's repair feature which seemed to do what I did with odin so no results, vzw said I could make an insurance claim, so they were no help. Hopefully someone has encountered this before or may know some ting i forgot to try.
Verizon said you can make a claim, did you actually take it to a store? Shove it on their face and tell them to fix it. It's not your problem, it's theirs.
Let me start off by saying that this issue started back at the beginning of Dec 2015. I've had the phone since winter 2014, and for a year, it was the most amazing phone ever. However, one day as mentioned beginning in dec 2015, the phone began running extremely slow and was restarting frequently. I assumed it was a just a OS issue, and so I did a system factory reset. However, the problem persisted even after a reset and cache clearing. So I called up Samsung, and then told me to send in the phone to get looked at. Since then...I have sent in the phone 4 times to get looked and each time, Samsung has said there is no issue pretty much. I've tried phone with different new batteries, and the same problem still occurs.
The oddest thing that I've noticed with this issue is the phone runs smoothly and flawlessly, when there is no SIM card inserted. But, as soon as I insert my At&T sim card into the phone, all the lagging/restarting issues occur. It's been a frustrating 3 months trying to deal with issue, and i'm at the point where i'm throwing in the towel and calling it quits on trying to fix this phone that costed me so much money.
At&t reps were clueless when I brought this issue to them today, and told me to call samsung....even though samsung says at this point it's a network provider issue and that I bring it to At&t. I've googled this issue and couldn't find anything on this. Posting on here is my last ditch effort, and if anyone knows anything that can, I would very much appreciate it. If not, i'll prob buy a new phone out of pocket.
having the same issue since 2 days after sim change
Hi, I recently switched my carrier and inserted a new sim. Phone worked fine initially but after 1 day it has started working extremely slow. It sometimes does not wake up from sleep even when i press the home button repeatedly. Sometimes it hangs and then gets into bootloop. I factory reset my phone yesterday and the issue resolved initially but when i installed and restored my watsapp messages, the issues started all over again. Now i am thinking of flashing my phone with a different ROM and see if it helps.

thanks dr. geek, keep me posted on how that goes.
Problem persisting even after flashing a new rom
I flashed a 5.1.1 australian ROM downloaded via sammobile. but the phone started hanging again this morning. I am beginning to wonder if its an hardware problem.
I have the same problem ...
Have had my Note 4 since November 2014. And it havebeen working flawless, running rooted and everything Until yesterday when i was just casually using my phone and it started to lag and restart, no difference whatever rom. So i tried for a whole day to get it into official firmware with alot of error messages in the progress about the internal memory etc, i ended up repartitioning, and modifying my PIT-file until i finally got it working. And the same issues did still exist. Now the thing that seemed to work for me was to change battery, now it seems to run again without lagging, or anything. Tho it wont restart properly without restarting twice by itself..

Hi, i doubt it to be a battery issue. Anyways, i would really appreciate if u post an update again after 1-2 days. i just want to confirm it before spending money on a new battery.

Hey yeah, well. you're right. I only got up to 3 hour use before same problems started to occur again. I have officially given up now tho, it must be a hardware failure. Im going to send it in.
its the EMMC chip bug

I am also getting a black screen sometimes before booting which says "ddi EMMC error". I think my nand chip is corrupted. Is any one of u getting the similar error?? Also flashing my phone with a PIT file can solve the issue ??

Im getting the same, i guess you could try it. But from what ive read it seems like the only fix is for samsung to exchange your phone, or change motherboard.
Good luck with samsung fixing it. I sent it in 4 times and each they responded "no problem found". I gave up and bought a moto e.
Flashed again with PIT+Re-partition

Yesterday i flashed my phone again, this time with a PIT file and repartitioning checked. Eveything went fine but the phone went into recovery booting bootoop initially but started on its own after a few bootloops. It worked fine for sometime, but when i entered my samsung account and it started to restore my msgs, call logs and apps, after 1 hour or so it started to freeze all over again. I am starting to think that some app could be a reason too. Now i will flash again and keep using it without restoring my old phone and installing only a few essential apps and see what happens
---------- Post added at 03:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:26 AM ----------
I also installed an app from the play store EMMC brickbug check but it says that my NAND chip is sane (fine i guess)
Same happens to to my note 4 snapdragon phe.
Any updates ? Did anyone got it back fixed from Samsung?
Good luck
My T-mobile Note 4 started experiencing this same issue last week. Is this a coincidence or something more? For everyone with the same issue, has your phone been slightly warmer at the top?
I purchased a new Anker battery to see if that will resolve the issue and will test it when it comes. But I think the emmc is starting to go bad? It seems to work fine without a SIM card inserted also.
I just received from samsung that they need to replace the motherboard, and of course the warranty isnt covering up since i rooted it. And they're going to want 540 USD from me to do that. Sigh, last phone i bought from samsung for sure.
