Greetings all I have searched left and right back and forth and cannot find a post on the forums concerning this issue. I currently have a ZTE Zmax Pro and want to change carriers. Sadly Metro for whatever reason won't unlock. So I went out and grabbed some unlock codes. But when putting in the sim card a Sim Unlock Screen does not appear at all. Anyway to force it to appear?
Thanks.

That is a shame to hear. Guess this phone is paperweight now. Metro completely screwed me on their end. Told me the phone was good to unlock. So brought it to another company and now my account is canceled and phone cannot be unlocked.

I just bought a new ZTE XMAX PRO few days ago I actually enjoy MetroPCS I tether off them like couple hundred gigabytes a month, and they will sell you that zMAX Pro unlocked and they will unlock it after three months of service for free if you can't do it yourself, I currently have Z981, SM-G900P, and XT1254. Tonight I'm going to look into rooting and possibly unlocking the SIM card what the code and the unlock device app that comes with Metro is blue with a little key
Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
No code needed on this phone to unlock. The unlocking process is done thru the "Unkock" app installed on phone. When app is launched, it communicates with a server, the server determines if phone is eligible for unlock. The above mentioned unlocking service apparently sends info to server "stating 90 days have passed(?) and is now eligible for unlock(?). I just unlocked another one today, phone is only 3 days old, less than 2 hours the phone was unlocked thru the Unlock app.

Sorry for sort of hijacking this thread, but I just have a very quick and simple question related to the original topic. I just purchased a used T-Mobile branded ZMax Pro that has been unlocked for use with any other GSM carrier. If I do a factory reset, would the phone remain unlocked? Thank you in advance for your help.

so if its done thru the app how did unlockbase unlock your phone, i just bought a brand new one cheap and id rather just unlock it instead of 3 months of service with metro and then im not sure if they would unlock it because its a used phone so id rather keep at&t and just unlock the phone. any info will help.
If you look at the profiles of both the users that posted about using a website to unlock the phone, that's the only post they've made. Those are just Ad Bots that post spam in forums.
Yep... Good old internet.
I'm almost at 90 days so the unlock app should work soon... I just want a carrier that I can achieve unlimited hotspot data from, like when I had Boost.

Thanks for reminding me - I just hit the Unlock Phone app on my MetroPCS Zmax Pro. I've been meaning to do that for a while since I've been a customer of theirs for about 4 months, and it unlocked it immediately.

I know this old but I'm having the same issue now with the ZTE ZMAX Pro. How were you able to unlock the phone when it was only three days old? Was it because you used a sim card that had over 90 days of service with MetroPCS?

As long as you aren't on a contract or payment plan in the phone they will unlock it after the return policy is up (14 days). It's all automated through their website and very easy. Doesn't cost a thing.

Dunno. It's what I use, it works. Can't say if it's better or worse.
I just tried to unlock my paid off Galaxy S4 from AT&T. They sent me a pin code that I have to input into the phone. But, the pin won't work unless I insert the sim card of another carrier. So, it is actually a pain in the ass because now I have to find another sim card, probably from T-Mobile, just to unlock the damn phone.

Weird. Mine worked fine with my AT&T sim.
These were the unlock instructions they sent me to unlock my AT&T Galaxy S4:
Instructions:
Unlock Steps - Use Non-AT&T SIM Card
1. Power off the device, remove the battery, and insert a non-AT&T SIM card.
2. Re-insert the battery and power on the device with non-AT&T SIM.
3. The device displays Enter the device unlock code.
4. Enter the eight-digit unlock code.
5. Press OK.
Note: You are allowed five attempts to unlock before your device permanently locks to the AT&T network.
EDIT: I just went online and looked for a different unlock method because I don't have another sim card and I don't want to go to T-Mobile to ask for one. Remove your sim card, power on the phone, go to the dialer and enter #7465625*638*# then enter your unlock code, which should be emailed to you from AT&T after you ask them to unlock it.
You can always get a free T-Mobile sim to throw in it for the unlock.

Just yesterday I've talked about this at att store, and the guy told me I have to use their service (active account) for at least 6 month after purchasing a phone, before they allow unlock it...wtf?
May be the case now, but a year ago when I bought my wife her iPhone 6, it unlocked the first time I hooked it to a computer (about an hour after walking out of the store with it), and my S7e was unlocked after the 14 day return policy was up. Doesn't mean there hasn't been a recent change, but when I've paid for a device outright it's always been unlocked.
Does anyone know if the wifi hotspot validation is disabled after ATT unlocks the phone? I'm not feeling like asking AT&T permission on when to enable wifi hotspot on my phone that I have paid a full price for.
From what I've noticed:
1. ATT can unlock devices through this site:
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/request/#/unlockstep1
2. For my note 7 I purchased, the IMEI isn't recognized
3. Support is useless they will only refer to the website mentioned in step 2
I have already purchased a sim unlock code from a third party. Hope it works

because i'm not an AT&T customer (Cricket) she said she had to manually create a temporary
account so she could submit the unlock request. the first two reps i spoke to were worthless
and kept telling me there was nothing they could do and i had to submit the request online.
finally on the 3rd call i demanded a supervisor and it took her a bit but she managed to figure
it out.

That's nothing. Third call this morning
I have to go back to the store and rescan it so it registers in their system. Seriously, I was told that.
I'll call back in a few minutes - it's been close to an hour. But that's unnerving. Can't they see there's something wrong with the att unlock website? It's rather simple actually.
it's a hassle but it can be done
Have you attempted to toggle OEM unlocking by using a temporary sim unlock?
I was wondering about this as well as the Verizon Pixel bootloader unlock method.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/how-to-unlock-bootloader-verizon-pixel-t3796030
I mean, even if either of those works, still won't be able to unlock without the .bin file, and OnePlus's system most likely cross checks with T-Mobile.
There was a bigger thread on the let down Tmobile and one plus gave us @ the event. I was at the event and did get the phone and returned it because it was not the unlocked dual sim as they promised... Since I purchased the phone full price I was able to use the Tmobile APP on the phone to Sim unlock. The boot loader unlock requires a special bin file from Tmobile that takes up to 2 weeks to receive.

It has to be permanent unlock for the action to work. Many have tried to do it with Temp, and no luck. It's not hard to get TMO to give you the permanent unlock, I got it from them and still have payments on the device.

As others have stated, temp sim unlock won't work.
FWIW, I made two attempts requesting sim unlock through chat support. First I tried what others suggested, I was traveling more than 6 months and pushed pretty hard for a perm unlock. They would not budge.
Second attempt I chatted support again...this time I was a bit more creative and forthcoming...told them I was an app developer who needed an OEM unlock for development purposes, and a sim unlock is required to do so. Also told them I had no intention of selling the phone or using it off network. Few minutes later I had a perm sim unlock without ever making a single payment to the device, only 2 weeks after purchasing it. Also helped I was a 10+ year customer with 3 lines, but they were a bit more understanding with the story that time around.

I don't want to lie but seriously. Why won't they unlock me? We have 5 lines and been with them 15 years. They told me over and over that didn't matter.
Do you call them? I tried twice in same week and failed. So I waited a week and lucky the rep did it for me with no questions asked.

You just have to be diligent and hope to get the right representative. I would suggest the TMO chat on their app or I've read people had a lot of success with TMO support chat on Twitter.
I just finally got things straightened out with Verizon and am successfully using dual sim TMO/VZW.

Me too.. Unfortunatley its been decided that there will never be any unlocking, rooting, sim unlocking or any ROMs for this phone. v30 and v40 get there own dedicated forums.. while v35 still gets none. The higher ups in the XDA world put a hex on the V35....They dont want any development.
Hey guys just a quick update, I already tried from different unlock services with no luck seems like they already don´t have access to unlock codes or something like that.

Yes I'm optimistic
Because they told me that every week they receive new model for unlock, so maybe we are in an unrealease list (for me from AT&T) so maybe the OEM are not able yet to release the codes.
But don't be very very optimisitc because this a new a phone so the unlock service could be in a few weeks or maybe in months, but be positive!

Unlocking codes providers are now working :good::fingers-crossed:
The price was right so I purchased an ATT v35 NIB on ebay from a reputable seller. It was sim locked to att. The ATT route to unlock would have involved a 90 day service committment, expensive and inconvenient. Found codes2unlock.com via the Howard forum, https://www.howardforums.com/showth...lock-AT-amp-T-USA-LG-V35-ThinQ-by-Unlock-Code.
They turned around a sim unlock code in less than 12 hr for $15. Worked like a charm. With that out of the way, I proceeded to flash the latest ULM (Fi) rom to at least partially free the phone. Would be great to have root as an option but I just don't have the will to play cat and mouse with Magisk to be able to use Google Pay.

Just want to make sure i'm understanding this correctly. I have an ATT LG v35 that i'm currently using with a cricket sim. If I pay for the unlock code I will be able to flash the Fi rom? Could you point me to the resources to download the correct rom? It's been a while since i've tried any of this.
I don't know if lgup checks carrier lock state before flashing a kdz. One thing for sure is that there are no kdz's for ATT roms. You won't be able to go back to ATT stock. Unlocking it before crossing that rubicon seemed like a good idea to avoid a future unlocking hassle so that the phone can be used with another carrier, Verizon in my case.
Here's the link to the Fi kdz.
https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/19020/V350ULM10i_00_NAO_US_OP_0221.kdz
Read up on cross flashing in this forum as well as the ones on the G7 and v30.

Just want to make sure i'm understanding this correctly. I have an ATT LG v35 that i'm currently using with a cricket sim. If I pay for the unlock code I will be able to flash the Fi rom? Could you point me to the resources to download the correct rom? It's been a while since i've tried any of this.

Be sure to do a back up prior to doing the rom. One nice feature of 'restoral' is that you can select which apps/data to restore (meaning you can leave unwanted apps behind). I just did it today and am very happy. Even the authenticator app is working as before. Some logins might need to be redone, but it's worth it.
Solution:
Only buy unlocked phones
I just purchased an AT&T LG V35, had it unlocked through unlocklocks.com for $18.50 , turn around was about 3 hours and code worked with no problems. Hope that helps!
So I got my s10+ thru AT&T on launch day but I would like to sim unlock it. I have tried 2 companies and they are telling me it's hard getting the codes right now, even though I asked before placing the order and was assured it would be all set.
Has anyone tried this and succeeded?
Thanks for any help

All of the servers we use to get codes state on all networks that "16 digit codes are unavailable". The s10 range are 16 digit codes.
We used "Chimera" to unlock my own phone and went through no problems..
You'll need to find an unlock shop that uses this software as it appears to be the only 3rd party solution at the minute.

That makes sense then and why no one can unlock yet with the codes. Does it usually take a week or two after launch for the codes to show?
Has anyone found a Sim Unlock site for the S10 that actually worked. Hoping the codes would of been out by now.
2 days after receiving my S10+ and processing the unlock request on the first day with At&t, I received my code to unlock the phone.

If that question is for me, then yes. Processed at At&t's site but understand that my device is fully paid off.

Yes I know they have to be paid off, a reached out to UnlockRiver last week and they couldn't then but how they said they can so I will give them a shot.

Please let me know, I could have my carrier locked S10+ in my hands by the end of this week and would like to unlock it.
I submitted the request today, I'll let you know how I make out.
So I finally got the unlock done. I went thru Cellunlocker.net. The codes are apparently still not available but they offered an alternative way. After I made payment they send you an email with a link and directions.
I had to download the program AnyDesk on my PC, from there I just connected my phone and the tech did the rest. Took about 10 minutes. My phone restarted twice and aft er the s ed condition reset he had me install the sim I wanted to use, came up with the Network Code request and I entered 8 zeros. Permanent Unlock! They did give me a discount code to share RMCU10.
i got mine from cellunlocker as well after getting the s10+ 2 days before. paid 25 for it

How long did it take for you to get the code? Did u have to do it remotely too?

I went through cellunlocker as well and it took me about 2 1/2 days to get the codes, they sent me 3 codes (NCK, MCK, and RGCK). I used the 16 digits "NCK" code for mine. I put in my Google FI sim card, It asked for unlock code, and I used "NCK". Boom unlocked My S10+ was locked to Spectrum Mobile if that helps. Good luck!
I did mines on https://sim-unlock.net/ it took a day and £19.
just have a look at http://www.unlocksamsungonline.nl/en/scc it's direct unlock over USB cable so no need to wait for codes, latest security patches are supported, no need for root or downgrade. and most important, service is independant, and instant 24/7 so no need to wait for codes, just press the direct unlock botton and phone unlocked within 30 seconds.
Chimera won't do it

The option of online unlock is not available with S10+ From Verizon (SM-G975U). You bought that software because I did read you and all I got was nothing.
What's the process for the t mobile branded s10+? Is it the same process as it was using the t mobile unlock app?

just did mine via gsmzambia.com, also by usb
What happens if you try a SIM unlock code 3 times unsuccessfully? Does it kill the SIM card?
I got an S10+ as a gift. I asked T-Mobile support to unlock it and they said no problem and that it would take 72 hours.
Well it's been over a week and I've been back and forth with support trying everything up to and including a factory reset all with no luck. They're now saying that they've "exhausted their efforts" and that *some phones can't be unlocked".
I've never experienced this with support before and am not sure what to do next. I'm pretty sure Samsung is just going to refer me back to the carrier if I try them. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

How do you know it's still locked?
Do you have an account with T-Mobile? Contact their Twitter at TMobile help they are usually way more helpful then calling or chatting thru their website and I've personally unlocked dozens of phones like that, paid off or not.

When I go to Settings and click "Permanent Unlock" I get an error message *Your phone isn't elligible to be unlocked. Reason code: 999".
However, you're right that I haven't tried to put in a different SIM maybe it already unlocked?

If it is a Tmobile branded phone version then it is locked. Tmobile can unlock it as long as your account is 3+ month old and in good standing I think.

Again, their support said they entered it in the system to unlock and it's not working so I don't know what to do next. It's a weird position to be in.
It's my understanding that they used to unlock with an app, but that now it's built into the firmware? In any case, can't get it to work and they have literally said there's nothing else they can do which is really strange.

If the person that gifted it to you got it from T-mobile store then it would be quick, but if they got it from elsewhere, T-mobile always has trouble finding that order and IMEI and takes forever to actually unlock it.

It's directly from T-Mobile, and I gave them a screen shot of the IMEI which they confirmed over and over.
If they can't unlock it, can a third party?
No one knows?

Try with a non T-mobile SIM and if it is still locked, take it to the T-mobile store and have them call customer service to unlock. This way the store representative can let them know it is in fact locked.

Having the same issue with TMobile always get my phones unlocked via Twitter s8, note8, s9, note 9, onplus 6t all on JOD one thing they all had in common was the unlock app with the new S10 they having build in into the system and I have spend 1 month trying to unlock it even have gotten the phone replaced thinking it was defective , T-Mobile chat has said multiple times they did a override to unlock and still nothing I feel like there is an issue with the new build in unlock process vs the unlock app
Do we know if we can use a code to unlock the phone with different firmware? Are we stuck using T-Mobile's unlock protocol/app?

That's my experience too... there's no app and T-Mobile seems to have no solution.
So what do we do now?

I traded in the S10+ to the LG g8 just to make sure is the phone since the LG still has the unlock app I'll test and see
Edit: asked TMobile via Twitter for the unlock and when through the app , pressed permanent unlock and walla
I was able to successfully unlock my phone through T-Mobile on twitter. They just need your IMEI and will whitelist it. There is no unlock app anymore. I did have to chat with another rep however because the first rep that tried to help me did something wrong on their end and they tried to tell me to use the unlock app which the S10's don't have.
Locking a device with zero EIP balance should be illegal.
I went through this when I bought a 128GB S6 Edge outright. The phone was paid in full at the store yet they wanted me to wait 40 days to unlock it. I tried 3rd party unlockers and they said they couldn't unlock it. (all attempts with codes failed)
It was a real cluster-f.
I just buy my phones from ebay now. No carrier junk or branding and none of this nonsense either. Paypal is great if a seller tries to jerk you around. Fortunately I haven't had any problems.

Yeah their training is clearly a little behind, but I went through their escalations team and everything and they literally said the had "exhausted all efforts" and added that "some phones can't be unlocked". How crazy is that?
So my current question is... are there still third party unlocks possible?
