I am new to Marshmallow, but I deactivated all energy saving setting but still I have to check Signal manually for messages
Is this some Axon problem or a marshmallow setting? A2017G
solved: after having restored my backup from my last device to my axon 7, I had to reregister signal from within signals settings in order to receive notifications

About a week ago I noticed that I was no longer able to make any calls, receive any calls, nor send text messages on my Nexus 4. Called Google, and they ran through the troubleshooting steps, and finally decided they will just replace my Nexus 4. The strange thing is that I have full signal bars, and I have no problem with using data.
I am upgraded to 4.2.2. Before putting the order for the warranty replacement, I decided to go into *#*#4636#*#* and try changing the network type. By default, it is on "WCMDA Preferred". I changed it "GSM Only". Now I can make and receive calls, and send text messages again. However, it is on EDGE only, and whenever my phone restarts the phone defaults back to "WCMDA Preferred", and if I don't manually change it to GSM I miss all my calls and text messages.
I have had the Nexus 4 since November, and didn't have this issue. This weirdness started a couple of weeks ago. Anyone else experience the same? Is it something messed on Rogers side? Why doesn't my Nexus 4 no longer recognize the proper network type it should be connecting to?

How did you make the change permanent.
I tried changing this, but when I look back it's again on "WCMDA Preferred".
From what I see there is no confirmation button.
Never mind.
Seems the data connection needs to be on '2G only' to make it work.
Just posting this in case somebody has some ideas. I've had a MetroPCS LG Leon LTE (MS345) for over a year without problems, but now it started losing its mobile connection sporadically, for a few minutes or a few hours, as if there was no SIM in the phone.
Symptoms:
The 4G indicator disappears from the notification bar (signal strength indicator shows good signal).
The lock screen says "Searchng..."
Calls fail with the "Emergency Calls Only" message
SMS won't send
I get a "Service Unavailable" error when I choose Settings/Call/Additional Settings
WiFi is unaffected (and WiFi calling seems to work, though it has always been hit or miss)
Things I've already tried:
Checked relevant settings, APNs, etc
Checked the contacts on the SIM socket, all looks good.
Reset Phone to factory defaults
Replaced SIM (MetroPCS did this for free)
New phones are relatively cheap, but I don't have a burning desire to upgrade, so I'm hoping for another option.
I'm having this same problem. I left for an area with no service and came back to an area with service to find that my phone will constantly state Emergency Calls Only and no service. Does anyone have any suggestions?
hi everybody,
My Xiaomi MI A1 32GB lost data connection several times a day. I have only a visual notification - X symbol within signal strength bar(not above like should be in this case). This symbol in general is regarding roaming connectivity, but i am at my home network. When i enter in Settings and deactivate/activate the SIM, the data starts again. All the time i dial and answer the calls, it is only related to data connection in my home network.
Any idea how to fix it in other way, may be to install network signal booster app?
This is an Android 8.0 bug, not a phone one, right?
Regards,
I've had the same issue when using two SIMs. To fix the issue temporarily, I switched to flight mode for a few seconds, then it worked for a while.
Now I've switched of the second SIM card and since then the issue never happened again. So if you don't need two SIMs, I'd suggest to turn one SIM off temporarily till the problem is fixed. Maybe it is already fixed in the February update.
Installed the Beta Oreo (stock and AOSP) on my Axon 7. After erasing and flashing with the U variant radios (my device is US) the phone initially receives full cell and data service. However, when entering a highly intermittent area like tunneled Public Transit, for some reason the radios stop working....and never come back. I simply would not receive signal any longer. Searching for data networks manually would find towers, but connecting to them does not restore service. Reflashing the bootloader and U radios does not regain signal. I would need to reinstall the entire ROM including bootloader and radio. Again, I would receive service fine until I reach an area with very low levels of service. This happened on the stock B12 ROM and the AOSP ROM. It's something to do with this Beta but I'm not sure what exactly. I'm on T-Mobile in the US.
Anyone else had the same issue?
I'm on AT&T and never had this issue.
Did you try to toggle airplane mode?
Did you check the APN settings? Maybe they changed?
Did you try setting the network mode (GSM/CDMA/LTE etc...)?

Yes, I saw this with B12 on my A2017U on TMO in low LTE signal areas. Trying to fix this LTE performance issue, I ended up getting stuck in DFU mode.
3 weeks ago, I actually had to send my A2017U back to ZTE for warranty replacement. New unit does not exhibit this issue. I think I may have had a bad radio in my phone.
Hi everyone. I decided to root my H918 from 10t by using lafsploit. At this time, my calls, LTE, and SMS were all working perfectly. After downgrading to 10p and unlocking bootloader, the device had difficulty staying connected to a single tower. it kept dropping signal often and was not able to make outgoing calls or stay connected to LTE for too long. After this I flashed LineageOS 15.1, not thinking much about it. On LineageOS, every time an outgoing call was made, it would drop the signal for about a minute. If no calls are made, LTE and SMS sort of work. I flashed 10u stock after that with Magisk and the phone has difficulty connecting to LTE or making calls/sending SMS. I have tried the following:
- Reboot
- Clean flash
- Format where you type "yes"
- APN settings
- Network mode change
- Airplane mode on/off
Somehow after a reboot (on Stock 10u zip) I'm able to make 1 or 2 calls and then it stops working. I called the carrier and they said there are no outages in my area.
I put my SIM in another TMO phone and it worked perfectly. I put their TMO sim in my phone and it had difficulties making calls. So the possibility of it being a sim issue is ruled out most probably. I have been recommended by a few people to try and flash an h918 modem but 1. Not sure if it is safe and 2. Not sure where to source it from. I have no other ideas and this is my primary phone so I'm having difficulties without a usable phone. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
Update: Tried flashing to 10p kdz from download mode but didnt solve anything.
Is the wifi also on?
I'm having the same problem, but was running on 10j. I went back to stock and upgraded to 10u to see if it fixes the signal problems I have with this phone. Both Cell signal and GPS on this lg v20 are horrible. On using the h918 on at&t. If not, i will either need to go back to my moto x pure or maybe buy the international note 9 with the unlocked bootloader.

I tried the same. Just flashed a 10p kdz to see if that would fix it, but no luck. Same issue happening on complete stock OS..
I replaced my sim yesterday, but that didn't make any difference. Before that i replaced the plastic bits on the top and bottom of the phone where the antennae contacts with.
I went back to 10j yesterday which was still arb0 and now upgraded to 10u which is arb1. I'll miss lineage, but i was just having too many problems with it. Not sure what at&t has on band 30, that's the only band this phone is missing. I regularly was losing signal while just driving on the freeway.
Hello. I have the same issue on LineageOS. Been trying to fix it but no hope. But I did find a temporary solution. Let me describe the problem. I'm having a LTE sim that works just fine, then it just stop working. The problem is when you enter an arena without LTE or the LTE is too weak at that point then your cell signal is laggy and lost completely. But you can switch the Preffered Network Type in the Settings to WCDMA/GSM/CDMA and your cell signal is back. That's my solution for now. Hope It helps.
With a custom rom, you can't have wifi on with data on. Simply turning wifi off doesn't fix the problem. You would need to reboot. This has been a problem from the beginning. It works with a totally stock phone, but beyond that, no.
Here is the only way to keep data calls working properly: If you need wifi, turn on airplane mode, then turn on wifi. When you are done, turn off wifi, then turn off airplane mode to bring data back.
Not sure the signal is any better with the new firmware on 10u, but at least my location services is behaving better and the camera actually works in stock. I did a side by side comparison of the gps signal with my moto x pure. Side by side the moto x pure got to an accuracy of 10ft with 21 satellites in view. The lg v20 locked on much slower to 8 satellites with an accuracy of 50 ft.
For comparison -
satellite 14 signal strength
moto x pure 34
lg v20 23
the cell signal may be better with fewer drops, but in some places without lte the speed and throughput is miserable.
