Just posting this in case somebody has some ideas. I've had a MetroPCS LG Leon LTE (MS345) for over a year without problems, but now it started losing its mobile connection sporadically, for a few minutes or a few hours, as if there was no SIM in the phone.
Symptoms:
The 4G indicator disappears from the notification bar (signal strength indicator shows good signal).
The lock screen says "Searchng..."
Calls fail with the "Emergency Calls Only" message
SMS won't send
I get a "Service Unavailable" error when I choose Settings/Call/Additional Settings
WiFi is unaffected (and WiFi calling seems to work, though it has always been hit or miss)
Things I've already tried:
Checked relevant settings, APNs, etc
Checked the contacts on the SIM socket, all looks good.
Reset Phone to factory defaults
Replaced SIM (MetroPCS did this for free)
New phones are relatively cheap, but I don't have a burning desire to upgrade, so I'm hoping for another option.
I'm having this same problem. I left for an area with no service and came back to an area with service to find that my phone will constantly state Emergency Calls Only and no service. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Greetings.
I bought a new imported LG G2 from Germany, at least I think so since it has paperwork in German.
I live in Lithuania, one of the Baltic countries.
And my signal seems to disappear from time to time, maybe it's because it switches to GSM/WCDMA from LTE and vice versa?
And other annoying thing is that I receive messages from my sim card carrier that I have no money left to browse the internet. It's an automated message when you have no money left in your sim account so it means my mobile data is being used somehow but I have it disabled.
..Anyone?
My G2 randomly loses signal for at most 30secs before reconnecting to LTE or hspa+ on T-Mobile. This happens randomly even when signal strength is high, therefore it could be a hardware defect or hopefully a bug that LG can patch with a new modem.
As for the messages from your carrier I believe those service messages are handled by WAP Service/Push (system app). But check the messaging app for the setting that controls service messages.

The problem was probably not with the phone (Unless it's something with LTE modem) but with my signal itself.
The LTE signal is really low here so the phone disconnects from it a lot, resulting it switching to other signal and being disabled for few seconds.
The fix was to go in to mobile data settings and disable LTE. Now I'm not losing connection and neither I'm getting messages from my carrier about the internet.
I have an S5 that when next to 3 other phones in my house receives no signal (data or cell). I have to walk completely outside and its still spotty. Could it have bad antennas? and if so is it just the wire antennas or is there another piece that receives signals?
Past history: stopped using this phone probably 8-12 months ago because of this problem and now just did a factory reboot and re register on the network. and up until the factory reboot the phone wouldn't even register itself on any network or connect to any service even though it showed signal bars. It would either start to make a call and long pause and hang up or just go straight to an "emergency calls only" pop up. When looking on the about phone and status page there wee no registration on the status page.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Korean Variant. I live in the Philippines, and I believe that this phone is unlocked because I can use my SIM Card to it. Now, my problem is when I turn on Data Network on 3G. Whenever I turn it on, on 3G mode, not LTE, because the area was just covered by 3G, I notice in the notification panel that instead of seeing Data Network, I see Data Roaming. So, there's no way to turn off my data mode. And when I go to the Messages, there is a warning that says 'Roaming... charges on receiving text... etc.'. And on the notifications, when I pull it down, it says 'Current network: Globe (51520)' something like that. And when I click it, I will go to Global Roaming in Settings. And sometimes, there is a signal drop, and sometimes it says 'Insert USIM to connect to etc.' or ''Insert SIM Card to connect... etc.' but on a couple of seconds, there comes again the signal for my phone.
Hello
I have buy St i959 unlocked
I used it for month with 4.4.2
But when I updated it to lollipop 5.0.1
Signal (cdm)) stopped and back, menu button stop also
I tried to solve this.
The signal when I restart phone appears for 30 seconds
and a message comes saying (refreshing uim card data)
and signal then disappeared.
I tried to inter sim uim setting but I can't because the setting page can't be interred (it say no sim uim card)
What I can do
Restart phone and quickly go to sim setting and sllect network manually
Can't search cdma it automatically
But I sheached GSM in this slot (3 networks avillabe)
as always signal listed
But the page setting still and I choose this time searching cdma networks
In this point the signal comebacks
And I can dial send messages
..
What happens. I will wait days to see
But back, menu buttons don't work
UPDATE:
after restarting phone or use airplane mode
the network lost again
And i must repeat the search as explained above.

hi everybody,
My Xiaomi MI A1 32GB lost data connection several times a day. I have only a visual notification - X symbol within signal strength bar(not above like should be in this case). This symbol in general is regarding roaming connectivity, but i am at my home network. When i enter in Settings and deactivate/activate the SIM, the data starts again. All the time i dial and answer the calls, it is only related to data connection in my home network.
Any idea how to fix it in other way, may be to install network signal booster app?
This is an Android 8.0 bug, not a phone one, right?
Regards,
I've had the same issue when using two SIMs. To fix the issue temporarily, I switched to flight mode for a few seconds, then it worked for a while.
Now I've switched of the second SIM card and since then the issue never happened again. So if you don't need two SIMs, I'd suggest to turn one SIM off temporarily till the problem is fixed. Maybe it is already fixed in the February update.
